Actually they are. Any ball carrier can slide to give themselves up to end a play without getting hit. It's not a rule specific to qbs. Qbs are just pretty much the only ones who use it.

So a 12-1 Wisconsin absolutely should be left out for not winning their conference but an 11-1 Bama who did not even win its divison should get in?

IMO that's the issue with the system, the goal...

No one has said a 13-0 P5 team would ever be left out. A 12-1 conference champ may very well be left out in favor of a 11-2 team from another "tougher" conference.

Except the 1% comment was about one loss teams, not undefeated ones. Still somewhat of hyperbole, but nowhere near as egregious as ou are making it out to be.
