Re: College Football Off Topic

They were a borderline elite program when I first started watching college football (circa 2000) and the Pac's losing its two marquee members, so it seems like a decent place to make a splash. He'll...

Re: College Football Off Topic

Sure, but even in the lean years of Clay Helton, USC was at least winning conference chips and playing in New Year's Day games. Nebraska can't even put together winning seasons these days.

Their...

Jokes aside, Urban's ending up at Texas or Notre Dame in a few years for $150 million or something ridiculous like that.

Re: College Football Off Topic

Seems harsh to penalize a team because their coach decided to bail.

Re: College Football Off Topic

Instinctively thought the same thing when I read the Kelly news, but walking away from Trevor Lawrence is really tough.

Had no idea Kelly was even on LSU's radar. He's pretty clearly hit his high...

Re: College Football Off Topic

The homecoming aspect is his only saving grace at this point. Even with the qualifiers of the close losses against a tough schedule, 3-9 in Year 4 is still terrible. 15-29 in four years while playing...

Re: College Football Off Topic

Bad news for UCLA. USC's been in a drought since Pete Carroll left and they didn't take advantage of it, although I gotta admit the Pac 12 pretty desperately needs a strong USC to hold its own...

Re: College Football Off Topic

As someone who first started watching college football when Nebraska was one of the dominant programs, it's pretty incredible to see them finish 3-9 and wrap up their 5th straight losing season....

Re: College Football Off Topic

I'm not really seeing any justification for the tweets; just annoyance at the new game among journalists of digging deep into newly-famous-person's social media accounts to find offensive...

Re: College Football Off Topic

4 team playoff will always be unsatisfactory as long as you have 5 major conferences + Notre Dame + undefeated mid-majors. 6 or 8 teams will do.

Better matchups last year too (Heisman winner vs. Heisman winner/future #1 pick vs. future #2 pick; Ohio State vs. Bama).

Still, was January 2nd not an option? It's a Saturday without NFL...

Re: College Football Off Topic

The penalties that the NCAA initially handed down are what Penn State should have volunteered for, if not a one-year death penalty.

Only the NCAA would partially restore the reputation of someone...

Re: College Football Off Topic

I remember reading somewhere that the committee wanted to break from previous polling systems and not necessarily drop teams multiple spots just because they lose a game or penalize teams just...

Re: College Football Off Topic

Can anyone really make an objective case for FSU being #1 other than "#1 should be #1 until they lose"?

Another reason why I hate how the traditional polling system operates.

Re: College Football Off Topic

The AP Poll is basically irrelevant now, but I did take a moment to admire the two Mississippi schools ranked in the top 4.

You'll probably never see that again in your lifetime.

Re: College Football Off Topic

Sagarin's ratings, which are as good as any computer rating system out there, have both Wisconsin and ASU in the top 10. Wisconsin is a legitimately good team and ASU is not at all a bad loss; quite...
