I see Eve is still hot on the recruiting with those personal in-home "interviews." I am sure Anthony was seeing things much clearer. Do you anticipate putting him straight into the reserve role or are you envisioning redshirting him?

Williamson, as we knew from the very beginning, is an absolute stud of an outside linerbacker and a player I expect to dominate immediately in the new scheme. It is going to be a lot of fun to watch his career play out. Haha for some reason everytime I read his name I want to call him Sean Weatherspoon...

Lawson is going to be an absolute stud for you. I anticipate him to be the next Ryan Jean. Not as dominant perhaps but still a very bright career.

I know we have you pegged for a national championship run here in the coming seasons but I think it is quite apparent that the road will go through Pasadena. USC is out for blood.

Not only is it interesting how the computer creates a storyline like this, but it is also worth noting that we just "signed a contract" to play TCU each of the next two seasons. I created this post all the way back in February: Football contract with TCU, Ohio St. signed ...I had no idea they'd be pulling in the top ranked class at that time. Should make for some fun matchups with them.

And we also can't forget that a guy that would be starting at cornerback for me right now transferred to TCU last off-season: Deuce Monroe and Pacman Johnson transfer.

It is amazing how stuff like this comes together.

I will definitely look into the custom playbook. Thanks man!

Nice size of those WRs you signed, while the class isn't large it's like you said - they should have an earlier impact on the team that years past.
Ha! I didn't even think about USC getting the short end of the stick yet again.

Glad you mentioned the #1 recruit Powell. All year long, I had been wondering "How on Earth is this guy the #1 recruit?" He had D and D- grades across the board. As it turns out, obviously his actual good attributes were all in the fullback-specific categories. I tried to hype him up a little by calling him a "dynamo fullback," but yeah, I don't know what else to make of that.

Cliff Gaines on the other hand, wow. I didn't report on it, but he was my #1 target on my board going into the year and we were in second place by -60 going into week 1. He has 96 speed, a good catch rating, and really would have been the perfect player for our offense. Sadly, he insta-committed to USC after the first week of the season.

I am excited about this group of WRs. Lawson will clearly be the belle of the ball, but I am excited to see how Rodney Scott and Kenny Bell develop down the road (both are likely to be redshirted year 1).

Thanks man...yeah I am thinking that several of these guys will be redshirted and be big contributors down the road. We have a nice mix of day 1 studs and potential and I look forward to proving the game wrong in making this the 60th rated class.

Haha...I was sure you'd be the one to pick up on the Eve Jewell easter egg in there - you never let me down with picking up on my hidden nuggets.

As for Anthony, I'd say it is still TBD but I am leaning towards redshirt. We have Tompkins starting of course, and we have a couple of decent veterans behind him as well as the freshman fullback J.J. Williams, who I'd like to get involved as a ball-carrier (the whole Joey Roberts as our RB coach thing is coming into play there). Also can't forget about Michael Brown Jr., who I am thinking about making my primary third down back, since his CTH rating, for a running back, is top-of-the-line great.

I am very excited about Williamson. He will be a beast as an edge rusher in the 3-4. I also plan to put him down at DE when we go to nickel and dime sets with 4-man fronts. I really want to see another Mark Richards-type sack performer happen at some point and I think he could be that guy.

I'll tell you what man, Lawson may not have the blue chip pedigree of Jean, but I think he will be just as good and will develop into a fan favorite very quickly. He will terrorize slot corners this fall with his size and speed.

I am really looking forward to this season. It took us six seasons at the very beginning of this dynasty to win a national title. And here we are in Part II once again heading into year 6 in search of our first national title of this report. USC looks very strong and I would love to get a national title game rematch with them after how they beat us in the title game years ago.

Thanks for the great feedback as always guys!

First off - great to have you back on the forums and I appreciate you taking the time to catch back up on things.

Thanks for the compliments. I've come to realize here in recent months that with this thing now going on two full real-time years and no end in sight - what's the big rush?

I am enjoying the pace I am playing at and I have found that by only playing one game per week and also taking a multi-week break in between seasons, it not only keeps things fresh, but it also keeps me from getting too good at the game and things getting too easy due to frequent play.

There's still a couple of steps left that I want to hit on in the off-season, but I am pretty fired up about this upcoming season. I think we have a great chance to have a special year if we can get out to a fast start and also remain healthy.

Allen will no longer be restricted by the brace he has worn on his left knee since high school.

Tulane | QB Allen sheds leg brace
                Mon, 18 Mar 2024 13:10:01 -0700

                report courtesy Eve Jewell, TulaneInsider.com

Eve Jewell of TulaneInsider.com reports that Tulane senior QB Bryce Allen (94 ovr, 76 spd) is no longer wearing a brace on his surgically-repaired knee, and is looking noticeably more nimble during the opening days of the team's spring practices. Allen, a former blue chip recruit from Colorado, tore his ACL during his sophomore high school season and has worn the brace ever since. Allen's newly-found leg-flexibility could result in more runs from the fourth year signal caller.

"Not that I am comparing him to these players, but he's gone from looking like a statue pocket passer like Tom Brady to playing more like a scrambler like Aaron Rodgers," said Tulane offensive coordinator Curtis Byrd.

"If he can take advantage of his legs in games, we could really give defenses problems next fall. We don't want him to run too often, but it has become apparent during these practices that he could do some damage when the opportunities are available.

"I think watching Obi Clemons run and take advantage of openings last season also has helped Bryce understand that sometimes you have to just take what the defense is giving you on the ground. He looks good and healthy and we think this could be an added element to his game and to our offense."

Playing at cornerback, Malone (#39) was abused by Notre Dame freshman WR Anthony Robertson last season and was eventually benched.

Tulane | Malone moved to FS
                Tue, 19 Mar 2024 13:21:08 -0700

                report courtesy Britt McHenry, ESPN.com

Britt McHenry reports that Tulane senior defensive back Brian Malone (81 ovr) is receiving first team reps at free safety during spring practice. Malone, a juco-transfer last off-season that runs a 4.32 40-yard dash, was a junior college safety but was moved to cornerback for Tulane last fall.

Malone was one of the team's starting cornerbacks at the start of last season, but was eventually benched in favor of then-junior CB D.J. Keyes after back-to-back poor performances to start the year. The Arizona native would end up playing as the Wave's dime cornerback the remainder of last season while also seeing playing time as a gunner on special teams coverage units.

"After losing LeCharles (Smith) and Brandon (Davidson) to early NFL draft entry, we lacked numbers at the position and felt Brian's skillset would be better utilized back at safety," said first year Green Wave defensive coordinator Karl Dunbar.

"We just told him he better be ready to hit somebody, because we will be taking advantage of his speed and putting him in a lot of one-on-one opportunities and in blitz opportunities. This was a no-brainer move and it really gives us some flexibility with how we deploy our personnel on the back-end."

The Rebirth Brass band was founded in 1983 and is a staple of New Orleans' brass band music culture.

Tulane | School will have Rebirth Brass Band play at home games
                Fri, 20 Apr 2024 13:35:04 -0700
The New Orleans Times Picayune reports that Tulane fans in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be getting a stronger taste of New Orleans next season, as the school has hired the local legendary Rebirth Brass Band to play classic New Orleans songs at its home games next fall.

After averaging over 70,000 fans in 2021 and 2022, game attendance dipped significantly in 2023, as the team averaged just 65,533 in per game attendance, the school's lowest mark since 2016. The university is looking for any way to help bring fans back into the stands.

"Having only 65,000 people attending a Tulane football game, sometimes less, is unacceptable. Our program is looking at any way to spice things up and this certainly fits the bill," said Tulane school president Michael Fitts.

"Not only will our fans hear some classic Mardi Gras and New Orleans tunes from Rebirth, but as requested by students we will also take advantage of the stadium's new speaker system and play a few rap and rock hits on the P.A. system during timeouts and between quarters; it's going to be a great, party atmosphere. As the kids used to say years ago - it's going to be lit."

Editor's Note: This is just my in-universe explanation for the fact that I somehow just now discovered the custom sounds feature in this game. I have added a few famous New Orleans Mardi Gras/second line songs to play after getting first downs, along with a few New Orleans rap icon songs to play in between quarters and during timeouts (Mystikal's "Man Right Chea" and an instrumental version of Juvenile's "Nolia Clap" to name a couple). We will also now hear the Star Wars Imperial March theme music after third down defensive stops and Ludacris' "Move B_h" after we get turnovers. Yes, I know this knowledge doesn't really add anything for my readers but hey, you could imagine the fun. lol

You have a great recruiting class coming in despite it only being 11 deep. I realized that Michael Brown Jr. has an unfortunate name as well (for reasons I will not tell on here). TCU snagging 8 five-stars is surprising, but what I found even more surprising is that Michigan, despite making the title game, ended up with a class not in the Top 25. Heck, even UTEP dropped a top-25!

Hopefully Malone can step in and contribute at a high level. 4.32 speed for a safety is absolutely crazy, Jabrill Peppers-esque in a sense.

Me either. I hadn't even explored that part of the game menu before. Maybe I knew about it years ago and just found it too complicated to deal with at that time in the past.

It is really easy to use. I've done a couple of test runs in exhibition mode with it and it adds so much to the game, especially for a team in such a unique music-based city like Tulane is.

Haha, thanks bro. I debated doing an update on it but figured it was worth mentioning. The update has gotten a much warmer reception that I was thinking it would.

I bought several classic New Orleans/Mardi Gras MP3s off of Amazon to put onto the XBOX and just to give everyone a sample -

After touchdowns, we will hear our normal Tulane fight song. However, once we make the extra point, this is what is going to play:

That's as classic as it gets as far as celebration music in New Orleans. I can't stress enough how much better the game becomes when you add in your own music; I would warn to be subtle about it though and not add too much.

Appreciate it man...in regards to Allen losing his brace - I plan to do more running with him this year, so the knee brace had to go for picture purposes since QBs in knee braces typically don't run much. I guess it kind of just worked out that I was able to tie it into his backstory from when we first recruited him.

Glad you liked the custom sounds update. Now I just need to figure out how to make time to post a video or two at some point for you guys to hear some of it in action. As mentioned above, I did a test run with it and it sounds beautiful; it really provides a nice change to keep things fresh, and it is something that can be updated after each season to make each year feel unique.

I wasn't sure how much the readers would care about the stadium sounds, but I am glad that my post at least served as a reminder that it is indeed there to use (I think many of us had simply forgotten about it).

Good catch on Michael Brown Jr.; I hadn't even thought about that. Now I really gotta make sure this kid shines. I envision him emerging as an integral part of our passing game sooner rather than later.

I hated seeing TCU bring in all those players. Making matters worse, we are locked-in to playing them each of the next two seasons: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...postcount=1264

I'm definitely not expecting Malone to be anywhere close to Peppers, but it would be a welcomed surprise after the problems he had last season at corner.
