Andrew Wilson Named EA CEO

It appears that Electronic Arts has their man, and their man is Andrew Wilson, the (now) former EA Sports Chief. Wilson has been working at EA since 2000, when he started at EA Australia.

In a statement, Wilson said that EA is, "100 percent focused on delivering our FY14 business plan. We have made strong progress in the first half of the fiscal year, establishing financial discipline and continuing to create a slate of fantastic games for current and next-generation consoles, mobiles and PC."

Wilson has a three pronged plan for the future at EA, which includes a continued transformation of EA's digital future, delivering amazing games and services across platforms, and Instilling a culture of execution that will drive profitable growth.

There are no immediate signs from Wilson that he plans to rock the boat and change any of the directions in which EA is already heading. Any such details will likely take months, if not a year or more to come to light, if they ever do.

Wilson was not considered a frontrunner initially, so his naming as CEO is a pretty big surprise. EA's stock is down ever so slightly (-.5%) in after hours trading on the news.

An insider... So, same antiquated views of pro-DRM, anti-PC, pro-DLC, pro-microtransaction... living in the PAST in other words. Trying to hold on to an old model. No innovation.
