in a gm mode as the leafs, we are not doing well, just got offered matt moulson and ilya bryzgalov for phaneuf mcclement and a 1st in 2015

I already traded reimer so bryz could be my backup and moulson i can see how he ends the year and possibly resign him

i dont really like giving up a 1st but i could get out from phaneufs contract

I wouldn't. As much as I dislike Phaneuf, he is your top 2 Dman, and losing a draft pick for 2015 is not what you want to do.

Obviously don't do the deal.

In video game or real life, no need for Leafs to get rid of Phaneuf.

he wasnt my #1 d man though... he was playing horrible, demoted him to 2nd d pair and 2nd pp.

my 1st round pick was a year away, and i had acquired one from washington for reimer so still have a 1st for 2015

and as good as mcclement is on faceoffs... hes a 4th liner

If anything, I would say no to the trade for the pick alone. To hell with the players, its the 2015 draft being choko-blocked with good players.

If anything, that's 2 picks you can use to jump up the draft and land one of those guys with.

You have to be careful demoting people down lines, the last thing you want is Phaneuf being 84 overall or worse and still taking 7 mil of your cap for another few seasons. Maybe move him along for someone if you can ASAP (Player for player)
