Is a PS4 Pro a worthy upgrade

Ok. The Show is the only game I play (other than with my kids). Is the jump to a pro machine worth it for this game?

Re: Is a PS4 Pro a worthy upgrade

Are you happy with the framerates when you play The Show on the PS4?

If you ARE, I wouldn't bother and hold funds until the PS5 drops.

The only reason to buy a Pro for this game is to enhance framerates...and those were shaky last year in some parks on the Pro (I wound up dropping my output to 1080p...which helped immensely).

If you have a 4K TV, then yes.

Re: Is a PS4 Pro a worthy upgrade

I upgraded about 6 months ago and gave my boys my original PS4.

I do not have plans to move on to the PS5 for quite a while, if at all.

I would say if you are not upgrading to a PS5 and you have a 4k tv it is worth it. Otherwise, I would wait until the end of the year and just go the PS5 route.

Re: Is a PS4 Pro a worthy upgrade

I bought the pro and a 4KTV back at Christmas 2018. haven't looked back. but if money is even the slightest of issues, then hold off. if money is no issue I wouldn't (& didn't) wait.

I was going to get a Pro last year but figured I’d hold off for the PS5 instead.

Re: Is a PS4 Pro a worthy upgrade

Just so you know, with '19 there were some pretty hefty framerate issues for those with PS4 Pros. Some people weren't seeing them, while others like myself were. They eventually released a patch that made it better. But for whatever reason, MLB the Show on the PS4 Pro hasn't always been the smoothest experience. I have a really nice 4K TV as well.

Having said that, I still love my PS4 Pro and MLB the Show. Pre-ordered '20 a long time ago.

Re: Is a PS4 Pro a worthy upgrade

I have a standard ps4 and a xbox one x. Now, there is definitely a difference between the two.

But games like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War still look great on my standard ps4.

Like others have said, if you don't plan on upgrading next fall, I'd get one. If you do, just wait it out.
