EA Announces All-New Football Experience with Madden NFL Arcade

5-on-5 Pure Adrenaline NFL Football Meets the Award-Winning Football Franchise

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – October 14, 2009 - Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today an all-new way to experience the Madden NFL franchise with Madden NFL Arcade – a fun, pick-up-and-play, 5-on-5 football game from EA Tiburon. Madden NFL Arcade is pure adrenaline football for both casual and diehard NFL fans, featuring a unique art style that brings your favorite players to life like never before! Madden NFL Arcade will be available as a download on Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Store for 1200 MS Points and $14.99 respectively, just in time for the holidays in December.

“When you look around the office and see your whole team playing and having tons of fun with it, you know the game hit the right mark,” said marketing director Nathan Stewart. “We have diehard Madden fans who have worked on the franchise for a decade, and more casual gamers who are all playing together and enjoying it. If our productivity the past few weeks is any indication, we’ve created a game that everyone will love.”

Choose one of your favorite 32 NFL teams and distinctive home stadium for a battle with the best five players on each side of the ball, and let the excitement begin! Each team is given four downs to march 60 yards to pay dirt – no penalties or field goals allowed here, pal! Get your Madden NFL fix in a completely new way, with fast-paced games where the first team to 30 wins. Want to mix it up? Madden NFL Arcade can be tailored to fit your liking by changing options, such as skill level, points to win, and more; making each game unlike the one before. Take advantage of 13 unique “Game Changers” to break the game wide open on a single play. Add an entourage of lineman to get the sack, freeze an opposing player, turn off your opponent’s passing icons, and much more. No lead is safe in Madden NFL Arcade.

Madden NFL Arcade is the perfect video game for gameday, allowing up to four players to play co-op on a single console. You can also take on the world online in head-to-head matches and track your performance via interactive leaderboards. If you like to commemorate your gridiron success, Madden NFL Arcade will also provide a host of achievements and trophies to boost your gamer score.

Madden NFL Arcade is rated E for everyone by the ESRB and is developed in Orlando, Florida by the EA Tiburon studio, which also produces NCAA® Football, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® and EA SPORTS MMA.

Judging by the field width I wish it were 6 on 6 or 7 on 7 game. If it recreates the type of fun of the early NFL Blitz games, it will be worth playing.

Actually, if it has 'EA' on the cover it will sell.

That doesn't look that bad, and the Wii only deserves something so average. But for a Arcade game, I don't see the problem.

Should make for some great holiday fun. I saw a video of this for the Wii on youtube. Sad that you can still use exploits on a game that has no sim aspect about it. Lol. A flag football version of this game would be awesome. It has pretty much all of the flag football rules...No rules...Lol

For you guys that may try to get technical...I am very aware that there are rules involved in an organized FFL. I play in the intramural league @ AU every year.

EA has officially pissed me off. Where is a new NFL Street? I read a couple of days ago that the new madden wii was a flop. What better way to recoup their losses than by passing it on to 360 and ps3 gamers. Bring back my NFL Street!

In order to stay on topic here is my response to the thread,

Thanks for the info!

Now he are my additional comments,

First, I see Tiburon studios created this game. It would be very dissapointing to hear that people that work on the real Madden game spent time working on this also, it just does not seem effecient to me. They are a thin developing crew as it is, especially with the quick turn around they have to deal with.

Second, this is an off-topic thread in this forum. It is a totally different game from Madden, just like NFL Head Coach is not discussed here. This seems to be just advertising for EA, and with all the locking that goes on around here, this doesn't belong. If they want to make this announcement it should only be on the homepage of OS.

Why would I buy 5 on 5 arcade NFL game when I already have a 11 on 11 arcade NFL game?

Looks like a stripped down version of Madden 10 for the Wii...

and I'm paying $15 for this why??

the funny thing is that about a week after its release someone will be claiming "with a good set of sliders, this plays a pretty good game of football"... lol.

I remember EA Sports BIG did the NFL Street Games, which had two good games, and the other two NFL Street and Tour games (3 and Tour), which were not-so-good.

I'd like to see them on a joint-effort.

If this is anything like NFL Street, I'm getting it.

My suggestion to everyone would be to stay on topic.

I've handed out some infractions, but I'm really in a bad mood, so it might go straight to bans if it continues.

All I can say is I absolutely LOVE the graphic stylization of this game (stills). I'm not sure how the animations, gameplay, etc will turn out but aesthetically this game looks nice. I love the cartoon/Pixar inspired, over-the-top looks of the player models, now if only the gameplay would be the same.

Dang shame EA is going to waste some nice graphics on a game that will probably be half-hearted.

they should've just included this as an arcade mode in the regular madden 10.....
