Tiger 14 News Post

The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 development team has posted updates on the upcoming patch for the game. Some fixes are on the server side, which should occur on the next server update. The team is still gathering issues from the community and request that gamers having issues within the game to report them here.

Below are some of the fixes the team has confirmed to be corrected. There is no estimate on when the patch will be released, but it's good to see the commitment from the team to correct any issues. We will continue to update this post as the team adds to the list of confirmed fixes, before submitting to Microsoft and Sony.

Server Deploy on 3/25/13
  • Connected Tournament payout issues
  • Connected Tournament invalid score submissions winning tournaments
This fix will prevent users from submitting a score if they disconnect in a connected tournament for more than 1 hole. You will still get the option to submit, and it will appear as if your score submitted, but when you check the leaderboard it will not have your score in it. It is a necessary evil of preventing users from glitching the system to win events. A further fix that will allow score submissions when disconnects happen during the round has been added to the patch and will make this function as designed.
  • Connected Tournament total score adding newly submitted rounds to previous submitted rounds in total score
This was merely a visual issue and wasn't effecting ranking in any way.
Server Deploy om 4/6/13
  • Multi Round Tournaments leaderboard display issue
  • Multi Round Tournaments payout issue
  • Adjustment to how Tiebreaker Points are earned in Connected Tournaments
  • Incorrect data for Club Members on Course in the event information module
  • Several Play the Pros fixes
  • Holes Played stat tracking
  • Head to Head games with club members objective fix
  • Power Pin not appearing on Equip screen
List of confirmed patch fixes (patch release date: TBD)

List updated as of 4/11:
  • Fix for H2H online issue where players get incorrect stats after completing event (including DNFs, etc...)
  • Fix for Legends of the Majors multiple part challenges not working in rare instances.
  • Fix to move aiming spin back to right stick if right stick is your hit stick
  • Restored original follow camera for putting
  • Fix the camera button from defaulting back to regular view when changing holes
  • Fix for H2H cameras so they no longer pull back after a ball comes to a rest
  • Fix for H2H opponent cameras not tracking the ball and instead staying behind the user
  • Fix for Country Club stat "Double Eagle" always displaying "0"
  • Fix for some Country Club stats not tracking correctly
  • Fix for wrong stats in info module on the event select screen for events that have closed in Connected Tournaments.
  • Fix for some career stats not matching front-end stats correctly
  • Fix for some career stats that show incorrect information
  • Fix for issue where country flags are incorrectly showing on club world ranking in-game banners
  • Fix for shot preview arc not drawing completely when using shot preview pin
  • Fix Strike Meter to always be 'sticky' for Move players
  • Fix for Loyalty Bonus timer (currently display days, will be hours)
  • Fix for user's score not displaying in the front-end leaderboard when submitting a score for play the pro event
  • Fix for 'next hole' stats not appearing correctly in live tournaments
  • Fix for score column showing incorrect information after playing multiple rounds in Play the Pros.
  • Fix for playoffs sometimes going to night (if choosing to play night or live time of day, playoffs can still go to night)
  • Fix for opponents sometimes not animating during H2H games.
  • Fix for various issues that occur on the final round simulation leaderboards in career mode
  • Fix for clubs resetting to default after having played a historic challenge in legends of the majors
  • Fix for aiming info and other on-screen indicators disappearing at times.
  • Fix for boost pins in H2H matches not working for users that did not set up the game
  • Fix for eventual crash that would happen if game loads into demo mode when start is not pressed in time
  • Fix for live tournament round screen not showing the proper time remaining in tournament
  • Fix for incorrect display of XP Pin Bonus amount
  • Fix for crash in golfer level purchase flow where coin price is incorrectly set to 0 coins
  • Fix for mute user functionality where user becomes un-muted when a new user joins the session or a user leaves the session
  • Fix for connected tournament banners not showing #1 ranked user in the banner
  • Removed debug 3 hole setting from play now as this setting was never intended to be in final game

The latest official update from Sean Wilson concerning the patch:

Hello everyone. Sorry, for the slow response time for the past week or so. Justin and I were both out of the office, but we're back now. Here's the latest update on the patch.

Our plan right now is to submit our current patch candidate tomorrow for approvals. There has been a slight delay of a few days as we encountered a new crash caused by a patch fix and an issue where clubs would sometimes disappear due to another patch fix. Both of those have been addressed and our own team is continuing to test the latest build thoroughly. We also wanted to add a fix for that issue with pins not working correctly in head 2 head matches that was called out this week on these forums.

We completely understand the frustration around the issues you've been seeing. Please believe me when I say we are trying to get this patch out as quickly as possible, however we also do not want to create new issues so we're proceeding very carefully.

FAQ:

1. When will the patch arrive?
Once in submission it's a bit out of our hands. It depends on how busy Microsoft and Sony are and whether or not they find any 'show-stopper' issues. If they find an issue that they won't allow, we obviously will have to fix it and start the process over. I'm hopeful it will be no later than 2 weeks if all goes well. Though it may go longer, or it may be quicker. I will update these boards throughout the process.

2. How will you know when the patch has been approved?
We will update you on these forums. Also, when the patch is live, you should be automatically prompted that an update to the game is available when you attempt to boot up the game, assuming you are online.

3. What has been fixed?
The fix list can be found here:

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9396331.page

Hands just cleaned this thread up and added all the latest fixes, including a few fixes around pins.

4. Will we wipe the H2H game stats when the patch is released?
Yes

5. Will this patch fix the crashes I've been seeing?
Though we have fixed a couple of crashes we were seeing, and other fixes may have inadvertently cleaned up other crash issues, it's tough for us to say with absolute certainty that any specific crash you are seeing has been fixed as we just aren't seeing all the crashes reported on these boards. We have made a fix to how online games were being reported that could possibly improve freezing in online matches. The patch build has also been through test internally again and I know of no crash issues beyond the one I've already stated we've fixed. Also, Sony and Microsoft would make us fix any crashes they see during their review.

This is fast. We would never see a patch this comprehensive, this big, this soon after release.

Latest official information concerning the patch, courtesy of Sean Wilson, EA Sports:

"We kept the latest patch build for further testing and some additional dev work over the weekend to iron out a couple other issues that crept up on Friday. The issues seem to be resolved, however, we're spending today taking one final pass to try and ensure that this build is clean.

I understand the frustration, but these issues would in all likelihood caused us to fail out of Sony/Microsoft, and if that happened the delay could have been worse. We're working as hard as we can to get this build out. All I can do is to continue to be as honest and forthright as possible on our progress."

This is completely off subject and I apologize, but this seems to be the only forum right now getting any active comments. So here's my question:

What clothes are actually allowed at Augusta or the masters? I have my player dressed in all Nike clothes (dress slacks and polo shirt) with a mizuno hat because no Nike hats are available yet, but when I played a couple quick tournaments at the masters it defaulted my clothes to ea outfits. So what clothes can I wear? Any insight would be very helpful, thanks in advance.

The game puts you in its own choice of coordinated outfits. I've always though my golfer looks more like a car wash attendant than a PGA Tour golfer in the getups they slap on me there. This is some sort of licensing agreement with Augusta National, so EA has little control over this. I don't like it, but I've come to live with it.

I knew there was some sort of licensing issue and you were required to not wear "novelty" outfits. I always thought that meant like tee shirts, shorts, etc. I know last year it would default you to your sponsor outfit ie Nike taylormade callaway etc. which I was fine with. But the only specialty or sponsorship outfits I can find are all ea. I guess now that sponsors have have been removed (not sure why, I liked that part of the game) we may just get stuck representing ea during the masters. Nothing against ea, just not really a golf sponsor haha.

You're welcome Dan. I've become somewhat of a nattering naybob over this, but this and Forza are the only games I have enough passion for to push me to that level any more

I'd like to think it would pass before the end of the month. Tiger 14 deserves the chance to be shown in its best light; this patch should allow that to happen if it all works as advertised.

Agreed. If the patch does what it's supposed to do, this game for me is the finest videogame of golf ever.

But I'm not gonna crown 'em just yet. Let's make sure of that patch!

I tried resetting the game to see if something wasn't loading properly, but it was still there.
Saw this yesterday. Pretty wild.

From the article/post:

"Ok, I had just posted an update but have some new information so I removed that post. We've just discovered that we CAN keep status for both clubs and individuals. So obviously this is a fluid discussion, but assuming we can now keep status...if we keep it for clubs and individuals (which would keep your club ranking in order) but wipe everything else, would that make everyone at least somewhat happy? This would allow us, in my opinion, the fresh start we need without disrupting those who invested so much time grinding out status."

I say...
