Hendo 78 and MKG 77. That hustle rating must be something nasty man.

The rating on Korver is great, he's consistently been underrated under the old formula .

My Hawks ratings under the old formula (2014 stats, done on 360)
87 - Al Horford
84 - Jeff Teague (rates 82 on PS4, unsure why some inconsistencies exist)
81 - Paul Millsap
74 - DeMarre Carroll
74 - Mike Scott
74 Shelvin Mack
73 - Elton Brand
73 - Kent Bazemore
73 - Kyle Korver (Rates 72 @ SG)
71 - Adreian Payne
69 - John Jenkins
68 - Thabo Sefolosha
67 - Dennis Schroder
64 - Pero Antic

Korver and Sefolosha are likely starters yet they rate lower than every other wing on the team.

Thabo sandwiching between two 1st round picks who haven't established themselves was particularly troubling. His flaws (Handle, OffAwr, SOD, etc) shouldn't be canceling out his strengths (defense) as he's started for a contender a number of years for a reason. The system was not reflecting his true value and that has since been rectified (Thabo rates 74 in 2K15).

Korver rating equal to Bazemore simply doesn't pass the eye test. Ball handling is way too important to SG under the old formula despite 3pt shooting and on-ball defense being significantly more important to the position.

At the higher end of the spectrum of that system we see A regressing Dwyane Wade (90) isn't in the same ballpark vs "Three & D" players like Danny Green (73). It was important to get proper value for the specialists, because the Iso era of SGs inspired by Michael Jordan has come and gone. It's a PGs league now, which means the vast majority of SG are going to be required to be good at playing off-ball.

The best example of this is Jordan Crawford (79), who would start over Klay Thompson (78) when rated accurately. There is no questioning that this is wrong. Ironically, Crawford is actually much more effective at PG where he RATED LOWER (75). He is a much better on-ball player than on-ball player, which is why he thrived w/ the Celtics, and struggled with the Warriors, despite playing his "natural" position. He serves as a perfect example

Under the new system, Klay rates 82 (+4), equal to combo guard Monta Ellis. This previously would have been impossible due to Monta's Handle/Athletic advantages, despite his erratic jump shot.

(I highlight Antic because "stretch 4/5 players are well-known to get the shaft in the old formula, something else that was fixed in 2K15).

I want to say this I really like that a defensively specialist can be ranked the same as a offensive specialist. It makes things much more interesting. I would say looking at the overall has taken on a whole new meaning and you really need to know the detailed ratings even more so before complaining as everyone appears to be closely rated even if they are one dimensional.

Teague: I put him in the category of scoring point guard. Very fast can get into the paint on pick and rolls and finish but as a shooter he is below average mid range and below average 3pt% but is streaky at times. As a defender nothing special can pass I would say above average passer . He doesn't rebound that much 2.6reb that is bad

And as a counter-point to what I'm talking about, some specialists will get overvalued. In the case of MKG (who I had at 68 last year, -10) his handle, rebound, defensive ratings, and even his mid-range shot are all probably a bit overrated by 2K.

A quick stop at Synergy....

On-Ball Offense (13%)
5% Iso 0.88
5% Post 0.58
3% PnR 0.71

MKG can't create his own shot beyond a straight line drive when his opponent mistakenly overplays.

Off-Ball Offense (33%)
25% Spot 0.58 (31 FG%, 1-10 3pt)
4% Handoff 1.09
2% Screen 0.89
2% Roll 0.75

MKG is basically worthless off-ball, he has the shooting ability of Shaq. This wouldn't be so big a deal if he could create his own shot, but since he can't he gets 3x as many off-ball possessions.

Athleticsm (51%)
22% Transition 1.07
19% Cut 1.16
10% OffReb 1.13

MKG thrives here, but it doesn't make up for him being utterly abysmal in the halfcourt.

-----

Overall MKG is basically a bigger Tony Allen. There is a caveat though.

Tony Allen is All-Defense 1st-Team caliber

MKG IS NOT.

At least, not yet. He turns 21 in three days. This is surely just a case of 2K buffing his attributes (and thus OVR rating) to ensure he continues to start.

Loving Jonas V's 78, I think it's fair. Maybe I can play with the raps and have a fun franchise without bumping up a bunch of ratings this year!

I think (but not sure) out of the box Jonas was a 68 last year?

Obviously since I watch the raptors all the time it's easy to complain when I see players undervalued and trying to look objectively - this WAS the case in the past with players getting a bit shafted.

I hope it's not the way it was in the past, where last year. Jonas was a super slow, un-athletic player which helped keep his ratings down, but going to games and see him transition slam alley oops and trailer plays with some intensity - then seeing his game in 2k was disappointing.

Which brings me to scrubs... I hope they vary, instead of all being super slow waste of space-type guys. In the past you had the best superstar's in the league being the fastest almost automatically and bench guys being slow to compensate for some of the game's ineptness to translate true skill. I would see subs come in a miss under the basket layups because they were rated so low, but in reality, high school players would hit those open shots even if they were plunked into the nba.

I hope to see some bench guys crazy fast, but just can't hit jumpers with any consistency or maybe someone is slow but a crazy good rebounder - or maybe someone has great agility and handles and can break ankles so he seems fast but isn't 90+ in speed and only like a 78 or something. Hopefully there are a few quick big men too.

Overall I'm really digging these ratings and can't wait to see for myself - this is going to be a crazy exciting NBA season, I'm looking forward to it more than anytime I can remember since 2000

Magic fan here, don't see Nik Vucevic yet which means he has to be in the 80's right? If so then sweet

Really happy to NOT see Ryan Anderson yet. After years of being a 67, looks like he'll finally get the recognition he deserves.

Haven't seen Asik yet, either. So looks like the Pels will have three 80+ front court guys.

Interested to see where Brad Beal is placed. I would have thought he would have been in this range.

Does this list mean Brandon Jennings, Greg Monroe and Josh Smith are all 79 overall or above? I haven't seen their rating's released yet.
