NBA Live 16 News Post



NBA Live 16 game update 1.04 is available now for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, adding a new court for Live Run/Summer Circuit (see the trailer here), over 25 new player face scans, 48 new hairstyles, new tattoos, over 250 bug fixes and improvements and quite a bit more. As more information comes in, we will update this post.

With that said, let us know what you are seeing!

Gameplay Fixes:
  • Improved rebound input response time
  • Added more rebound animations to help with timing and coverage
  • Improved failed rebound animations
  • Made it easier to perform spin layups.
  • Reduced sliding and warping for inside shots and layups. Also improved animation selection.
  • Shot percentage tuning for mid range and 3 point shots
  • Added a greater fatigue affect for shooting.
  • Improved loose ball responsiveness for steals/rebounds and blocked shots
  • Sizing up on the perimeter for a longer duration will now trigger isolations
  • Improved transition play after turnovers
  • Fixed rare issues with double dribbles from post up and unders
  • Improved catch animation selection for players in transition
  • Improved help defense when scoring from the post
  • Improved on ball defense facing logic to help cut off dribble penetration
  • Fixed a rare case where players warp across the court after a change of possession
  • Fixed rare cases where players hands wouldn't connect with the rim properly
  • Fixed rare issues with ball warping when passing
  • Summer Circuit AI alley-oop pass logic improvements
  • Addressed rare miss catches in the post
  • Fixed issues where pump fakes would over-rotate the players facing
  • Fixed rare issue where players would not face the basket when performing a jump shot
General Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed Blocked Shot not counting for "Contest" objectives
  • Fixed gear display issues in Pro-Am lobby
  • Host now defaulted to “Start Game” in the Lobby of Pro-Am games
  • Fixed issue where Rising Star does not play the correct amount of minutes when the earned time is over thirty minutes
  • Fixed issue when viewing the post game wrap up in Ultimate Team, skipping through any point would occasionally cause a black background
  • Fixed issue where soaking in Pro AM Screens will occasionaly show online friends as offline
  • Improved detection of Contested Shots in the Paint
  • Fixed Brooklyn Nets road jersey not being in the correct tops menu when the user selects the PRO-AM outfits in the Gear Shop.
  • Inconsistent lighting for player avatar in summer circuit/live run lobbies adjusted
  • Added "Good Defense" event for stopping an inside shot via a collision
  • Improved stability if the fifth and fourth users leave a live run lobby just before the timer expires
  • Fixed Lobby host changes in persistent sessions
  • It is no longer possible to change your Play Style after becoming receiving the Superstar designation.
  • Fixed framerate drop when User B constrains the title in a H2H game.
  • Fixed occasional loud crowd cheer while playing in OKC
  • Enabled standing crowd animation stream(s) for ProAm Venues
  • Improved Pro-Am stability
  • Fixed Dynasty salary cap restrictions issue
  • Fixed issue where the rising star is told to guard someone else, but gets penalized when the original opponent that was guarded makes a shot in Rising Star mode
  • Fixed issue where Rising Star is not in the starting lineup when the Star becomes a 'STARTER' and enters a game in Rising Star mode
  • Tuned penalty for passing up shots
  • Pro-Am: Added link to Skills Progression from lobby
  • Improved Content Update stability
  • Fixed parts of the geo blocking the camera in Terminal 23
  • Fixed black texture where an exit sign should be in the Seattle Pacific University arena
  • Addressed Summer Circuit AI Alley Oop tuning
  • Fixed issue where the stanchion poles and clock do not turn invisible in SPU venue
  • Fixed issues with the Activity Feed
  • Fixed issue with blocks going back to offense too much
  • Fixed issue where help defense fails to react in time from a successful post move
  • Fixed standing crowd popping in game
  • Fixed issue when on an interception or steal the AI ball handler goes into a one off animation when they have an advantage
  • Fixed issue when playing a Summer Circuit game in Brooklyn Park with another User the Pre game NIS only showed 4 Players coming onto the court
  • Fixed intermittent periods of not seeing lobby avatar images in the Pro-Am lobby
  • Fixed “Make an Assisted Shot” not triggering when completing an alley oop, layup or dunk in Summer Circuit
  • Re-ordered the position slots in the lobby to be PG, SG, SF, PF, C
  • Implemented new generic facial animation
  • Fixed a soft lock that occurred when accepting an invite to a Summer Circuit lobby that is currently full
  • Fixed issue when an opponent select the quit and count option in an Ultimate Team H2H game

well since i played another game this time with someone from this board. i got to see if there was any real defensive changes.

the defense played slighty better. as it seemed like DJ/BG actually wanted to play defense today. and get boards. thank god.

i still cant comment on 3s. but i think you miss more now than before the update. midranges still seem iffy but at least they go in. im on astream watching a guy do the master chanlenges and hes heaving a meltdown with all the 3s he missing lmao

Makes me happy, I really love Live, and I just want to see it succeed.

I'm a true supporter of LIVE. . Just hope they get updates out a tad quicker from now on.

I'm in my dynasty and I noticed when I try to pump fake with Kobe only, he just shoots. Is anyone else having that problem?

I'm afraid not . Was also really looking forward to their updates after seeing them being scanned earlier. They need updated faces badly, especially Mo Will, Varajao, and Shump. Love will work with a hair update. Can anyone confirm if these players will be updated this year after being scanned?

Any opinion yet on the mid range game? i.e. 'is there' one at all now?


Are there any actual catch and shoot mid range plays?

Just downloaded the patch and the first thing that happened was gortat missed an open layup, ugghhhhhh this is the kinda stuff I didn't wanna see post patch.

I'm so glad they added the dribble move reaction frequency slider. I put it at 100 to see what it do and now you can fake defenders out with good dribble moves something I feel Live was lacking before the patch. This game play very good offline. Good job EA!

I'm enjoying the patch so far, but they need to turn the fatigue on for online h2h matches, update my boy D Rose, and give us some better camera angles mainly a closer zoomed in broadcast view, because all there angles is to far from court it makes the players look small so hopefully they can patch them in this year???

so it took me getting into a ultimate team challenge for me to see what exactly shot tuning meant.

3's definetly went down. shots that used to be 50%+ are now starting at 45 and etc and gets worse as you add more features into the mix, as in how contested are you and etc.

i was missing LOTS of open 3 point shots . and the more i shot with x player it seems like the more his % went down. however i dont think the CPU is effected by the fatigue cause curry still got his

There's not shot fatigue but there is a greater hit to % based on fatigue.

It's subtle, but there are new up the court dribble animations too. Harden, near the end of the game, took his time and slowly dribbled up the court in a close game down the stretch when my team was coming back down big. New rebound animations as well.

Big Mudiay fan here.. He needs his gear. But his face scan is on point.

Had to test this out myself. Game plays much slower, threw me totally off, guess they did that to balance everything. Definitely like the increased misses and paint contact.

The CPU is still jogging on FB's FYI, happened in my first game....I think I saw that as a fix in the notes...

Sorry guys not a an EA basher I'm huge supporter and fan of the series since Genesis days Live 95 ..... but I expected more ..I appreciate the update it was well overdue I know there are trying their best to make us fans happy I get it.... I'm grateful for that thanks ....but I won't be satisfied until they PATCH in ability to Edit Players ourselves and add in more Sig Shot Animations as well as Dribble and Dunk Packages .....And we need updated players u guys showed us you have the tech to update hairstyles and add in face scans THERE IS NO WAY GUYS LIKE JAMES JOHNSON, KRISTAPS PORZINGIS, AMONG MANY OTHERS ARE STILL MISSING OR LOOKING NOTHING LIKE THEMSELVES .....WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE OF ART DEPARTMENT CANNOT BE "REAL FAN OF THE SPORT....I GIVE CREDIT THE ONES WHO YOU DO GOT ARE SPOT ON THAT WHAT'S SO FRUSTRATING GIVE US WHAT WE WANT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR UPDATES

We know u guys are working ya tails scanning teams all season long we should get a Add on Just for Player Likeness that will include Up to date or missing headscans and Hairstyles updates as well as player gear that should be the focus being that we can't edit player gear ourselves ....Madden team is able to do it I don't see why live team can't

Haven't really seen them jogging on FBs. In my experience they have been throwing the ball up the court to get buckets.
