After seeing the wave of teens and pre-teens that have hit the OOTP Forums, Shorty seems like Strom Thurmond.

Exactly what is a catobase, and why would I want to use it?

CatoBase is simply one of the best utils to be created for OOTP, it creates a ... well database for your OOTP league that goes far beyond anything in the game, a lot of the online leagues use this utility if you look.

go take a look at www.baseballreference.com and the catobase is basically a utility to make the same thing for your own personal league.

This is phenomenal. I always blew this off as an online utility, but...wow! The only thing is, it takes so long to update each season, after a couple of decades, I'm going to be simming a season in 10 minutes, and "Catobasing" the season for about 3 hours.

You don't need to do the HTML after every season... just import after every season, and run the HTML part of Catobase every few seasons or whenever you like.

Ahhhhh...thanks! So, I only need to generate HTML when I want to look at it then. Makes sense. This will save me a ton of time. Thanks again!

Obvious question:

it says in the first post that I must first install 5.4.0. Where do I get that?

The same place that has the 6.0 install has the 5.4 as well.

This looks great. One issue: My league is in 2011. Am I correct in assuming that there's no way to recover the career stats for 2004-'10. It is only listing career stats for those generated in 2011.

Here is one that I put together for one of my online leagues.

Here is another from a historical league that I'm in that has about 25 years of history.

You can follow Shorty's link to see one from his league.

Damn, from the title of this thread I figured it had something to do with the OOTP Death Leagues someone had mentioned earlier.

Hammer - that is awesome, for a stat hound like me - this utility is immense.

Love to see Scott Costa, a part time 5'11'' 235 catcher, steal 100 bases in '92, must have a leagues with a bunch of Piazza arms.

makes me want to buy the new ootp.

Are there upgrades from ootp 4 to 6?

Wow, I've been using it for a year and didn't even think of that. Now I can get through seasons quicker, too!

Ha! I was wondering whether you were holding out on me with that info, or hadn't thought of it yourself.

I just did what the instructions said to do, and was afraid to do anything else. It said to run the stat import, then generate HTML, so that's what I did every time!

no wait, you HAVE TO IMPORT each season, just not generate the html (the long part) each year

This is working great for me, although I somehow screwed up one year - I think I forgot to import it, because everything is the same as the previous year. Other than that, I'm about 80+ years into a sim and the output is beautiful. The only problem is that it's been 30 years since I ran the html, and I'm afraid it's going to take an entire weekend to complete!
