Noob injury question...

Quick question here.... at what point, do doctors really make a significant difference? My situation is one of my more important players got injured yesterday, and is out for 2 weeks. I know 2 isnt that long, but Id love for him to be back in 1 if at all possible. Is it possible? If I hire like 9 doctors, is there any formula that I can figure in and see if I can get him back in a week? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Important Injury = 10 doctors on staff

If you look ahead to the next match linup orders and your guy isn't red, then the game thinks he might be available for that match, but it isn't guaranteed.

Also, the injury healing process depends a TON upon the players age. Anything over probably 28 means that it could take up to or past the injury length currently on there, even with Doctors. A young guy (17-22), however, will probably heal before that even without doctors.

He is 19, but Im really bummed because even though he is only out 2 weeks, he is one of my only two keepers, and I train keepers! His training will be all screwed up So for a two week injury, 19 years old, should I just skip the doctors? Im really low on $$ right now anyway, perhaps Ill just wait it out ...

Hire as many docs as you can afford (3 or 4?) - if you get him to +1 by thursday (3 updates from now). He will get training this week. He should reach bruised (bandaid) before your week 3 friendly/cup match.

Docs aren't really that expensive - the training is more valuable.

I had a 20 yo injured in the last league match, +2 also. Had 10 doctors on staff and have since got him to +1. I needed him badly for the next league match, plus... If his form took a hit... GAH!

Eh, it's more fun ragging on kevin.

If you're online to watch your matches, why bother keeping them on staff? You can buy them following the match if needed. Of course, that doesn't work so well when you have international friendlies at horrible hours.

I have found that you don't get the real effect of a doctor until you've paid his salary for a week, so not until the next Saturday. That, and I hated always having to pay the firing fee... Since any team usually always has a player or two on band-aid status, I keep the 2 to help with those nicked up players...

FM
PS: I had started a thread reporting on that "no effect until weekly report" thing... maybe I'll pull it later on...

Hmm, haven't heard of that. Would definitely be interested in reading that thread if you have a chance to pull it sometime.

I kept 2 or 3 doctors on staff for a while. I was paranoid that as soon as I fired em, I'd have someone get hurt. Then I just wanted to save money and fired them. I've been pretty lucky with injuries so far, although I've had my starting keeper hurt in both offseasons I've been through.

Here's the post in the thread. I actually had not started the thread but was able to find it. That was when I decided I would always keep two doctors on staff...

Thanks for that. I'll have to try it next time I get an injury.

My preference is to fire them after the midweek game, once all my injuries have healed. Friendlies at odd hours haven't been an issue for me for the most part, because I play friendly cups which are mostly U.S. teams and I last at least three weeks in the Open Cup.

Blegh. Well, I just got a +4 injury to my 2nd best trainee. I have 5 doctors on staff right now, so I'm hiring 5 more right now. I won't be able to get a handle on the rate he's improving until the update after training, but I'll keep everyone posted if the rate changes after the econ update or not.

Ok, here is my next stupid question hehe.

My player now shows the medicaly +1, which means one week out, however in his description it says "bruised, but training"..... what does that mean? Does that mean I can play him? Does that mean even if I dont play him in my leage or cup match this week, he still gets training? I just need clarification please.

You can play him. Bruised but playing means that he will not play quite as well as normal (less stars), but he will receive training.

Bruised but training means that your player is not yet fit enough to play, but he will receive training for the week if appropriate (e.g. if he played in the league or cup match, or if you're training stamina or set pieces).

You will not be able to play him unless he has reached a bandaid / "bruised but playing" by gametime. If he shows up in black in the match lineup form, then he should be OK for that match, as I believe the healing predictor is conservative (does not take doctors into account).
