I liked it when he told me it may paralyze my face if a nerve is damaged....... But on a brighter note, I went on my lunch break and had 3 pulled, and went right back to work.

Beware the dry socket ... don't let them tell you that you are fine if you are still feeling real pain by the weekend.

Dry sockets suck. Vicodin was the only thing that helped me.

On the other end of the spectrum, my friend had his pulled and was playing baskeball the next day.

Use bags of frozen peas or corn as ice bags on the cheeks.

It's not as bad as people think, however my dentist advised me against doing all 4 at once.

All 4 at once here. It definitely had a real constant, low pain associated with it for a few days. The day I came off medication hurt like a bitch, but I was fine the next day.

The worst part (to me) was the constant taste of blood in my mouth for a few days.

I had mine pulled by an Army dentist, so I'm sure my chances of dying were slightly higher.

Mine must have been really bad then, or else I'm a complete wimp because I was pretty well laid out for a solid week. I had mine done on a Monday, and I didn't feel like moving until Saturday. The drugs didn't help the pain. I couldn't eat much, but I didn't really want to because I felt sick all the time. It's been several years since I had it done, but I remember it was being really, really bad.

I guess I shouldn't say all this right before bigdawg2003 goes under the knife.

I think my language was a bit misleading. When I said i was fine "the next day" I meant the 2nd day off medication. I would say that was day 5 or 6 total. I was definitely a lump for about 2 days though, I just slept a whole lot.

You're just a wimp.

When I got mine taken out I took the Tylenol 3 that was prescribed only once, and that was right after the srugry. After that I did fine with just ibuprofin and only missed two days of work. Just keep iced down, don't use a straw for ANYTHING, keep the sockets clean, and basically follow the doctors orders...

Obvioulsy the degree to which they are impacted (in my case, very) matters a lot. Two of mine had to be crushed into pieces to be removed. Some other people just have straight pulls with no real issue.

Or I'm just a wimp.

Okay, Okay, I'll admit to being a wimp too. But... mine also had to be crushed, and both of my bottom ones were almost completely under my rear molars, at an inward angle. Apparently, the guy had a whale of a time getting them out.

I would suggest getting antibiotics when you get any teeth pulled because of deep seeded bacteria that can't be reach by dentists. I had my wisdom teeth pulled about ten days before I got sick. My doctors believe that is how I got the infection in my leg. I was lucky because if that bacteria settles in your heart of one of your lungs then you could get in BIG trouble.

I had all of mine pulled at once. There was about 3 seconds of extreme pain, but after that didn't feel anything.

alright

fortunately im still alive without paralysis to the face, although the bottom of my mouth and chin is completely numb. still got a couple pieces of cotton in my mouth, but its minor

i got a prescription for vicodin, so if i'm in any pain, ill be ok. doc suggested to take one at some point regardless if i'm in pain.

now all i gotta worry about is dry socket (more likely for women to get it than men. yay!) and packing up for school. leaving on friday.

I had the same thing, he drilled them to break them up and then suctioned out the pieces until he could get a good grip on what was left and yanked the stumps. It was not good times.

Tylenol 4 rocks...

One hint. Don't try to eat soup later that day. With your mouth still froze it'll run right out...

sounds just like my story. he planned to get all 4 out at once, but the first 3 took him so damn long he had to call it quits and make me come back. I was laid up for about a week as well

ugh... I would've stabbed mine with the dental drill if he had told me I had to come back to have the fourth one removed.

Ensure is a very good product to have in the house at times like these. You won't feel like eating but it is pretty clear you need good nutrition while recovering. A couple Ensures a day should give you a good boost as you heal.
