Ping : Computer Nerds; I need your help
First of all, thanks for answering this call of duty.
Second, I need your help. So I just installed Empire Earth and it was only taking up the right half of my screen. I didn't think anything of it because when the main menu came up it looked normal, taking up the full screen. But when i pushed what campaign i wanted to play and the game actually started, it was only on the right half of my screen. And it was kind of lower too, so i couldn't see about an inch of the bottom part. I messed with the screen resolution and nothing happened. I uninstalled and the reinstalled it, and nothing changed. I had it originally on my boyfriend's computer and this didn't happen. Any ideas, suggestions, comments or concerns? Anything would be welcome. |

Wouldn't playing Empire Earth qualify you as a computer nerd as well, missy? I actually had a similar problem with Rise of Nations, where I had trouble centering the screen on my monitor. Try adjusting the monitor settings.

Well, video card drivers get released at least once a month. I would download the newest ones before going into anything more technical.

Hey... I get on my boyfriend's computer all the time and I never mess it up. And I didn't mess mine up this time, it did it on its own. And my boyfriend is 100 miles away from me right now, so I thought that maybe I could rely on you 'nice' (that might be the wrong word) guys to help me out. But if you just want to take this time to poke fun at women, don't let me stop you.

The first thing I would do is just change your screen resolution to different size to see if it give you the same problem. Do this withing the game (it hopefully has that option) and if that doesn't work do so on the desktop.

The reason why I mention screen resolution is that the game's resolution may not be matching your desktop and therefore throw things off. If that's not the case, I have proven that I am not a nerd.

i have actually tried that a couple of times, but it didn't work. My question is why is the main menu centered but the game itself off to the right??

If that doesn't help, then the early suggestion of downloading new drivers is most likely right on.

LSG: Sorry, I get 10 minutes at a time on this thing, and get 60 minutes a day now.
You can probably find out in your setup menu under either system or display. I would see if upgrading your video card driver helps, that solves about 4/5'ths of issues.

Is it really a brand new Dell? B/C your screen problems sound suspiciously like Runtheballs' in this thread. While not exactly alike, they are similar enough to make me think I should avoid Dell laptops awhile. Sorry, I know that didn't help your problem much. ![]() |

It really is a brand new dell, but the monitor is not dell, its Wal Mart. I am going to upgrade my video card driver Fozzie, im sure that will fix it. If not, I'll just stick with playing my new Rome total war game.

Ignore rkmsuf. He is a post whore who no one ever pays attention to anyway. He is also thinks he is cute and funny, but I have yet to laugh at one of his posts except the penalty box diary thing.

The menu runs at a different resolution then the game itself (I would think). So you need to adjust your monitor settings. Usually on the front of your monitor there will be some buttons that allow you to tweak the left/right, up/down, and size of the picture, those are what you need to adjust most likely.

I did the whole monitor setting thing and it didn't work because only half the game still showed, even though it was in the middle of the screen. I never could figure out what my video card driver was, so i just went to the resolutions on the game itself. First the game went side ways, then it was too big or too small, but the last resolution i picked finally worked.
I appreciate the help and advice from you guys that actually cared enough to give real suggestions. And Alf, there better not be any naked girl pictures sent to GE ![]() |
