Sex Offenders Map

http://www.familywatchdog.us/

Just put in your address to see if you have any registered sex offenders in your area. I was alarmed to see the number of schools within a couple miles of my house! Five of 'em!

This is a handy site. Disturbing as hell. There is a convicted rapist that basically lives across the street in the apartment complex. That is never good to know. Oh, and I have a total of 9 within a mile and a half. Not as bad as other parts though.

Total of 154 on the initial map area, max range about 5.2 miles. Still, it could be worse.

Well the funny thing is he's always been a real nice guy. In a "I've been beaten down my whole life so I kiss everyone's ass" kind of way.

I've checked a site out like this before, but never this specific one. Just found one of my friends from high school.

A fair number around here (88 at lowest zoom), fortunately mostly green. If that can be said to be a good thing. I think Michigan must classify offenses differently or something because there were no rapists shown, just varying degree of sexual offense, shown in the "other" category.

Detroit is absurd, though. Shows about a thousand per map at broadest expanse. Lit up like a Christmas tree.

j/k there are no offenders within 10 miles of me.

We pick apples in Hollis. Much yuppiage there.

Indeed, never went to school in Hollis, but from the few people around town I'd say they beat out Amherst. School kids in Amherst were a piece of work though, your place on the social ladder depended heavily on the car and vacation houses your parents owned.

I was looking around my parents address, and I saw someone on there that the offense listed was just, "Carnal Knowledge", what kind of offense is that?

Oh yes. Lots of dough over there.

Should we be talking about this in the sex offender thread?

Wow. Happy to report that there are none when the zoom level is on 1. Of course, an airport and its property takes up a nice chunk of the map.

Unfortunately, 69 when the zoom is at 5 -- and the vast majority of those are against kids.

I was surprised. I think I read somewhere that some significant percentage of sex offenders are female (10%, or maybe more). Of course, most of the girls around here are lesbian, so I don't know how that skews the data.

I had 21...

My brother lives on Logan Circle in DC...

He had 879...

That's at whatever the default zoom level is...even at zoom level 3 he had almost 200...

The bad thing is that the vast majority of the 190 are red...

When I put in my old address in Grand Rapids, MI, 341 showed up -- mostly green. I found someone from my high school who had been convicted for this. Scary thing is, friends of mine still talk to the guy -- he's married, and goes by a different name to avoid the list. I don't even know if his wife knows about it.

If they all actually did it, then I think that might be ok. But we all know that the judicial system doesn't always get it right. Plus there are probably quite a few young guys that get hit with statutory rape (which isn't a good thing of course).

Yeah, I just moved from Kentwood 3 years ago, so I put in my old address. Voila! There were like 30 people within 3 miles of my old place. Most of them were apartment dwellers (specifically Wingate), which isn't a suprise since a lot of them are probably loners. I think I recognized a few of the wierder looking guys, which is creepy.

I only have issues with an 18 year old having to register as a sex offender for life after having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend, or cases similar to that.

Other than that I really don't care about the rights of these people.

as far as being publicly listed? No, it's not a bad thing. It appears that quite a few are repeat offenders or have multiple counts against them.

Either way, it's good to keep the Chesters' whereabouts documented for the normal people to see.
