Question FOFC Meetup: Detroit Edition

So Detox and I were thinking, with the Tigers on their miracle run, and football season kicking into gear, now would be a great time for a celebration of Detroit sports with our fellow southeast Michigan/northwest Ohio FOFC'ers. We were thinking something along the lines of heading to a sports bar to catch a Lions or Tigers game around the Royal Oak/Ferndale/Troy area, since it seems like that's where a lot of folks on here are from. Date/Time is up for debate, but a Wednesday or Thursday evening might be best for a Tigers game. Drop a post in here if you are interested, or PM Detox or myself.

I'm in as long as the time works. I have weekends off, but work nights during the week. Perhaps a Saturday afternoon for college football?

I predict that Eastern Michigan will score more points than the Detroit Lions this season. Ship it.

You may be on to something here. Of course, Eastern's D will allow more points than the Lions and Eagles score combined.

24 Seconds has okay beer (Front is better) and good TV's. Plus I could walk to the bar.

Wednesday's is out for me because I either have volleyball or tickets to the game. Thursdays are much better. Weekends are workable.

The Front is the absolute greatest bar ever. I try to get there a couple times a month. 24 wouldn't be a bad place to go, its no more than a mile or two for 4 or 5 of us.

If I remember correctly though, the Front doesn't have the greatest TV's to watch the game. Anyone?

No, the TVs there suck. I just meant that, in general, it is a great bar. But not the best place to go for a general FOFC meetup.

Damn gents, I will be in town for my sister's wedding Aug 25-27. Rehearsal crap and actual wedding stuff will prevent me from attending. Maybe next time.

Did I miss where it was decided it would be that weekend? I'll be in town that weekend as well, but my own wedding stuff will prevent me from attending.

No, the weekend is still up in the air, but I think a college football Saturday looks to be the best bet. Any takers for the 2nd, 9th, or 16th?

16th is the high school hockey golf outing, as one of the coaches I gotta' be there. Plus it's a helluva lot of fun. The other two work.

dola

It sounds like the 2nd or 9th would work best for most folks. Personally, I think the 9th may be better, some of us probably have Labor Day weekend plans.

Yes, I got a job in Sterling Heights. Going to look at a couple apartments tomorrow, one in Utica and the other in Shelby Twp. One of my good friends lives in Sterling Heights, so I am somewhat familiar with the area.

You're probably safer being an OSU fan in Michigan than a Michigan fan in Ohio.

But you'll still get you tires slashed

Yeah, that should work. We just need to narrow a place down. Any suggestions from folks? Off the top of my head, Spectadium, BW3's, 24 Seconds, Bailey's would all be solid choices.

I am heading out on the Royal Oak pub crawl tonight, so I can see if there are any other decent places in Royal Oak for this. Thus far I've done very little in the way of bar hopping in Royal Oak.
