QB or Coach?
I keep hearing about the importance of the quarterback in FOF2007 but I am starting to wonder about that. In the career that I an in, it seems more like the coach has played a larger roll in a team's fate than the QB.
The example that I would bring up would be the most dominant team in my career (as far as titles go, my Eagles are the most dominant in the league in terms of regular season record). Redskins in their first 4 seasons: 23-41, 0 playoff appearances Coaching change (same QB as previous regime, for the early part of the run) and then... - 4 consecutive Conference final appearances in the new coach's first 4 seasons and 1 championship. - 153-81, 10 playoff appearances in 14 seasons, 6 bowl appearances, 9 confernce finals appearances, 4 championships (3 different QB's) and a 21-6 post season record. - just 1 losing season in that 14 year span. I had (sadly he retired) a hall of fame quarterback in Vince Young and they had several good, but far from great quarterbacks (including one who started for just one season and somehow put up incredible numbers though having ratings that looked like he would be lucky to be a backup). They did have one of the top running backs in league's history for the early part of the run, but he was on the team under the first coach too and only 2 of their championships were with him. They had 3 differnet backs since then for no more than a three year span for either and they won one championshipe for 2 of the three, the other they made the bowl with but lost. |

I haven't won w/o a decent (i.e. 40+) QB in FOF 2007, but I also think a decent running game is more important too.
Your results were very common for me in previous versions. |

QB all the way for me. I don't find the coach to have much influence. QBs influence is huge. Perhaps we need a Coach study!?

I've seen if happen in FOF. I just don't get the claim that QB's are too important in FOF. I just happened to notice that Washington had the same core group of key players from one coach to the next and they went from a 10 loss team to a powerhouse. If I have enough time on my trip I may do a bit of a test to see how different factors affect the game, such as the coaches. 45 nights with absolutely nothing to do (there is no night life in that area at all) should give me plenty of time for that. |
