There's a huge server wide event going on where you turn in stuff like Heavy Leather, or Copper/Tin Bars etcetera for rewards including reputation towards your chosen faction. Huge rewards.

Actually it's probably the same event you remember, it just has to be played out on each new server.

Holy crudstunk. I feel sorry for whoever I just bought 80 Heavy Leather for 2 gold at the AH, (4 auctions buyout at 50s each) I turned that into 8 Rewards, which if all items sell at the AH could net me 10-15 gold
