Contest for my vacant Supporter Slot

This contest is for my apparently vacant supporter spot.

Disclaimer: This contest is open only to official current supporters of the NC Raiders (sorry SI).

With the disappearance of my friend Horned, I'm willing to throw the vacant supporter spot to another team. It will, however, return to Horned should he return.

The contest? You have to explain to me in this post why I should support you. You can do this in any number of ways such as telling me your winning %, that you use the run and shoot, that you have a former NC Raider...anything is fair game.

The game will end, oh let's say, this time two days from now.

Game on! Start wooing me. :)

I believe that I should be supported because I have supported your team (without reciprocation, hrmph!) since 2003-01-28.

I believe that I should be supported because I have never felt the love of a dog & some peanut butter, and this would be the next best thing.

I believe that I should be supported because I occaisionally respond to your emails.

I believe that I should be supported because I am a defense trainer and often run the 5-4-1. This would be repulsive to a run-and-shooter like yourself, but if Paula Abdul and that cartoon wolf have taught us anything, it's that opposites attract.

If I'm not selected as supporter, please select me as rival for the exact same reasons. And go f@*& yourself. :D

As for finding myself an apprentice, I'm not sure you can actively search one out. It's a bit more of a natural process than that.

Ok...barring the fact that I am not a current supporter (I even have an excuse for that...I'll get to it :)), I have four very good reasons you should support me once I get supporter again (soon).

1) I run and shoot :)

2) US Open Cup Match, round 2. Facing a bot team (therefore PIC-ing with all trainees in), I fall behind 2-0 early in the first half. Ten minutes into the second half, I pull ahead 3-2, only to fall to a tie again 5 minutes later. Nothing happens again until 5 minutes into the overtime period, when my Vandals pull out a golden goal victory. Not only did I fall behind 2-0 to a bot team, I almost had a bot team come back on me, and my guys persevered enough to still win. :)

3) US Open Cup Match, round 3. Facing a human team and preparing to upgrade my stadium, I played normal hoping for a win against a slightly superior squad. After an mildly exciting first half, I was up 2-1. 7 minutes into the second half, I was in shock staring at a 3-2 defecit. Not to be outdone, however, my Vandals kept their cool and within another 3 minutes had put us up 4-3. With a stunning flurry of opportunities, the Asheville Demons managed to tie it up in the closing minutes and my squad was once again headed into overtime for the second consecutive cup match. 4 minutes into the overtime period, my star striker Giel Rijnders decides he's over the OT idea, and ends the game with a solid strike. Vandals win 5-4, and are 2-0 in OT in three cup matches.

4) US Open Cup Match, round 4. Further in the cup than my Vandals have ever been before, and hurting from a $360,000 stadium expansion, I throw caution to the wind and at 00:44:30 (thirty seconds before rosters lock), and slot in all my starters and call a MOTS against a pegasus team that put up an Outstanding midfield its last league game. Come match time, I am relieved to note that he put in his reserve midfielders, giving me a chance. However my 0-2 defecit at halftime was not so relieving. The Vandals, always a second half team, were undaunted as they swiftly equalized within 11 minutes of the second half, and things remained locked up at 2-apiece. With a MOTS on the line, I was sweating bullets...and things started to get intense...minutes later I found myself screaming at my computer monitor as "Vandals made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in from the right hand side left Lucas Turpin completely alone with keeper Boyd Bergeron, who made a spectacular block," what I figured to be my last chance to score all game. I almost shat a brick when I read "Christopher Chisholm came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 85:th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Derrick Woodson managed to tip the ball to a corner," as my keeper in wretched form managed to save my cup run with under 5 minutes to play. Finally, with the 87th minute come and gone, I had resigned myself to a third straight OT cup game when game-time decision player Raymond Hyatt somehow snuck a goal in with under 2 minutes to play!! The crowd went nuts...fans rushed the field...and the Vandals beat strong division IV opponent Pegasus 3-2 after an ill-advised, yet gutsy move by coach Vince to MOTS at the last second.

So in other words, with the all-out, gutsy performance of the "Cardiac Vandals" team and my coaching decisions it is only fitting that we be supported by the FOFC-HT Run-and-Shoot master. :)

Now...the problem of me not having supporter :( My supporter should be renewed within the next few days (my credit card company seems to think that all overseas transactions suck). Obviously my credentials far outweigh this minor inconvenience ;)

Nevstar had me rolling out here, and my buddies thought I was nuts! Exactly what I was looking for.

Illinifan999 was a close second with all the heart. For this, he takes the official rival role. Although I may have to issue a restraining order. :)

I had planned on giving this spot to Frogman, because of his work in HT, and I'm thinking I may drop my support of the Cyclones to support him as well.

Vince gave a convincing argument, but the contest was open only to current supporters. :(
