The point of this poll is NOT to start a flame war. FM, if one even has a glimmer of starting, please shut this thread/poll down. Please.
I was just thinking that today is the 2nd or 3rd time in the year+ since I've joined FOFC that I've heard "FOFC" and "elitist" in the same sentence. Personally, I've never seen myself as an elitist per se...I try to understand people's suggestions and opinions and if I disagree, well then I file it appropriately.
Part of my lack of understanding of this "elitist" is that I try to avoid the USA Conference. It's most often people asking the same questions over and over and over, or reporting their frustrations. I read it sometimes, but not too often.
Anyway. This is the poll. Do you, or have you, at any point (before or after you joined this group), think/thought that FOFC is an elitist group of HT'ers...

But of course. This is FOFC. :D
I answered no, but I could say yes.
No in the sense that most FOFCers haven't been there as long as the upper echelon. We're seen as a well, maybe a plague or something.

I'm surprised that it hasn't caught on more. I guess I just wasn't meant to join the ranks of FOFC Immortality with the likes of Dolamite, HM, and Happy29... :(

We are elitists, but not in the common term of the word. We're elitists in the same way that people from Blackburn are Rovers . . .
Just because we are 'Elitists' doesn't mean that we act like elitists. Just like people from Blackburn don't rove around at random.

I wouldn't really say you guys are elitist, but you're definitely cliquey. But that's not exactly surprising.
Heck, I blame myself. That's nothing new. :)

How can FOFC be considered Elitist when we have Ardent posting in the guestbook of every team in the U.S.?

If we are considered Elite, then I think we should just grin and deal with it...

Can anyone argue against this point? :D

Better yet, does anyone WANT to argue against that point? :D

But on a more serious note, if being a collection of people who are having fun with Hattrick, and helping each other out while doing it is considered elitist, then I for one am very proud of being an elitist. Besides, maybe they're all just scared that more than a few of us went with puke green socks for a week or so :D

*sidebar* This is my first big post as i usually don't post much. Just a quiet observer for the most part. *end sidebar*
In my opinion, we have just formed a group that has learned to help each other out.
We teach each other and learn from each other. I believe that we have "what is best for the ht world" in our minds. I seems that some people are only looking out for themselves when the FOFC looks out for the FOFC and the ht community as a whole. We are just combining our experiences to help each other out.
Well, enough of my views. I'll got back to my corner and observe.

I seems that some people are only looking out for themselves when the FOFC looks out for the FOFC and the ht community as a whole. We are just combining our experiences to help each other out.Other people start perceiving that as elitist when some FOFC inside things/joke (Dola, for instance) make their way to the HT conferences. People then see it as a group excluding them (whether that's true or not has nothing to do with their perceptions), or as something like "it's an FOFC thing, you wouldn't understand."
Having a lot of the teams being above average for the most part (succeeding in V, surviving in IV, or better) doesn't help either. That's probably not all of what there is to it, but that is definitely how some people are forming their perceptions.
I have a psych degree, so I know a bit about this stuff. But it's from a state school, so I probably don't know as much as I think I do. ;)

This question is beneath me. . .
For the most part though, our background. . .most of us have an interest in, if not competency in statistical analysis. We are min/maxers for the most part, seeking to tweak everything we can out of the engine. Most of us came here through fof sims, ootp, or the like, in which the numbers were our grail. I can see where some people may not like that, or appreciate it.

I changed my team's socks back..and we've magically begun winning...we were losing before we wore them, and during..I think they took the stench of losing away from us when we threw them out...sorry ardent :D

Sounds bloody brilliant to me LOL! And ya' know, I can hardly wait for III !! :)
I voted no. Fuck, we can be elitistish at times(?) but we don't exclude people--Noone here asked me what I was doing joining FOFC. So that excludes us as actually being elitists....
Um, what are you doing here? :)

You know it's the AE thing to do.
I only regret that I have but one life to give for my federation. Or something.

I never have read the USA Conference much, so I have no clue. But I think AE's grand campaign to post a note in every hattrick Guestbook is a great thing. I only wish I had a job were I could spend hours every day goofing off :D
