View Full Version : Sab's Alternate Realities: an FOF Dynasty

Yes, I'm starting my 513th dynasty...

This is an idea I had a little while ago and have been thinking about it for awhile. This will be a realitively hands-off approach. The gameplanning will be done by the AI, but I'll do everything else (which seems to take as long combined as the game planning. :) ). But I'm not really going to get invested in my team. Here's the premise.

I start with one FOF set up. I create the game using the real player file. Team Chemistry is turned on, but X-Factor is not. I play through one season of the game. At the beginning of the next season (after the 1st draft) I will save the league to three seperate files (create 3 seperate realities). I then continue on, using the same draft exports for all 3, to see how much they deviate from each other.

To see if any team can create a super power in the same time period in all three realities. To see if the stud QB in one reality can become the next 3 time Super Bowl champion, only to turn into the next super bust in another. To see if a Hall Of Famer from one reality has his career cut drastically short by injury in another. This is...Sabotai's Alternate Realities *cue The Outer Limits music*

Alternate Reality #2

2004 Preseason Week 1
Arizona 16, Jacksonville 24
New York 20, San Diego 20

Injury Report
OLB Walter Herron is out for 4 weeks with a Strained Achilles Tendon. (Yes, he's our #1 draft pick)

Alternate Reality #3

2004 Preseason Week 1
Arizona 24, Jacksonville 13
New York 28, San Diego 34

Injury Report
OLB Walter Herron is Questionable with a Pulled Groin
MLB Mike Barrow has severe depression.

Reality Comparison

2 out of 3 realities saw the #1 pick, OLB Walter Herron, go down to injury. In one, it just left him Questionable while in the other he'll likely miss a few preseason games. Not looking good as it might be an indication of him being injury prone.

Record for the week: 1-1-1

Alternate Reality #1

It was said in my previous post (btw, thanks for the support guys. :) ) that Walter Herron got injured in 2 of the 3 realities. That is not the case as I didn't take notice that Herron indeed got injured in Alternate Reality #1 (AR1). However, it was just Knee Tendinitis as was listed as Probable. Make it 3 for 3.

Anyway, the results. I played week 1, so I don't play this week.

Walter Herron is still listed as Out.

(Also, Barrow is also suffering from Severe Depression in both AR1 and AR2, something else I didn't pick up)

Not much to compare, didn't play this week. Our 1st round draft pick, Walter Herron, will be back in action in 2 of the 3 ARs. Barrow is depressed in all 3. Poor baby.

A pretty big lose. Only managing 3 points is bad. Our defense was pretty solid, though.

Strahan put up a superhuman effort getting 4.5 sacks. Collins went 8 for 15 passing for 79 yards. Mussi 9 for 14 on 88 yards, but tossed a pick as well. FS Drew McNeil, who I picked up as an undrafted rookie, nabbed an INT. He is rated 80/90 in interceptions with a few ratings with a potential around 50, and several ratings in the single digits. I picked him up specifically to help create turnovers.

Injuries:

Keith Hamilton wilkl likely be gone for most of the season. He's listed as Out for 15 weeks due to MCL Damage to the Knee.

Jim Finn, FB - Torn Knee Cartilage, Out, full strength in about 4 weeks.
Roosevelt Duran, LG - Separated Shoulder, Out, full strength in about 6 weeks.

With the regular season starting in 2 weeks, Finn will probably miss at least 1 game while Duran will probably miss a few game.

Another so-so game from the AR1 team. Barber did run 43 yards on 8 carries. Collins was 19 for 37, 230 yards. Toomer caught for over 100 yards (103) on 6 receptions.

Heh, I was thinking of speeding it up some and not focusing so much on week-to-week wins and loses. More like doing it in stages. (Preseason, Weeks1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-17, and then each postseason week). Doing season by season is a little too fast for me. I'm a sensative simmer. :)

Preseason

Injuries
The AR2 and AR3 teams look good as far as injuries go. Both will miss 1 or 2 players for the opening game and on week 2, but no long term injuries. The AR1 team will have to make due without Keith Hamilton for most of the season.

Record
The AR1 team did the best going 2-2, next AR2 went 1-2-1 and then AR3 went without a win, going 0-4. As far as scoring goes, AR2 did the best being the only team to score more points than they gave up (84 PF, 83 PA).
