Welcome to Ultimate Heavyweight Boxing!
Using OOTP's Title Bout Championship Boxing, I have taken all the heavyweight fighters and will be drawing them at random into my fictional universe. Like a young boxing federation starting out our size will be small, and gradually grow. The pool is 766 fighters big. So there will be some (many) fighters that noone has heard of. We will be crowning the UHB title. Fighters will age according to this model.
# of Fights Career Age
1-10 Begining
11-20 Pre-Prime
21-30 Prime
31-40 Post-Prime
41-50 End
Rules
No 3 Knockdown
No Standing 8
Can be saved by bell in any round
Only ref can stop the fight
Three Judges score the bout
10-pt must system
To keep things simple refs, trainers, cutmen, venues, and judges will be selected at random. Judges will keep their individual bias'.
Fights will be more or less at random, until I can get some feel for the way things are going, then I will add in some hand picked matches.
Fighters will retire automaticall after 50 fights. Fighters will also retire after 5 consecutive losses. New fighters will be added whenever I feel like it. They will be selected purely at random.

As with any new promotion you really don't know what you have in the begining. You kind of need to throw everyone together in a battle royale and see who comes out on top. I like tournaments because you can get many fights scheduled for the fighters and you can weed out some of the talent. The downside is that your good fighters ineveitably end up fighting early on and you really never end up with that 48-0 fighter.
Aside from random scheduling, tournaments seem to be the best option until the group gets a little larger and settled out. Fighters are not ranked until after their 10th fight so no sense in looking at that just yet. I have a feeling that there may be some fresh blood in the future.
I have an 8-man single elimination tournament scheduled next.

Another fighter is also fighting for his career. Long Tom Hawkins, who has yet to win his first fight, will fight Ed Mahone. Neither fighter is doing well, although both have shown potential. Hawkins trainer has picked this fight carefully.
Also on the card are sluggers Rudi Wagener and Riccardo Bertazzolo. Don't plan for this one to go the distance. Sinan Samil Sam against Murray Gitlitz. Sam is still trying to get his self respect off the floor and Gitlitz would like to earn some after his 1st round KO in his debut. Ralph Ficucello and Paul Cavalier in a battle of up and coming stars. Finally, Marvis Frazier, the quick, and crafty boxer will take on Jack Munroe, who is still trying to make a name for himself in the UHB.

Well Stander did put on a good fight. He outworked Seldon, and by my record had at least earned a draw. But it was not to be. Bruce Seldon did not look dominating, considering he was fighting one of the lowest rated fighters in the UHB. His future is a little murky.

Both fighters addmitted that they regretted doing so, but felt that their health was more important. Commish PilotMan added that "the way these two were fighting one of them was going to get hurt seriously. Neither looks to have a bright future in boxing and we reccomended that they find another carrer."
We are pleased to announce that we have signed 3 new fighters to the UHB. First, we have signed Jorge Brescia, a right handed, slugger from Argentina. The second new fighter is Alex "The Destroyer" Stewart, a right handed, slugger from the United Kingdom. And the last is Jack Gardner, another right handed, slugger, from the UK.

Personally I was a little dissapointed with this one. Alex Stewart has made a fantastic start in the UHB. He has shown some power and the ability to effectively stop a boxer with good defense. I was hoping that Frazier would have made it a better fight, he showed that his chin just cannot take a big punch.
And with that Alex Stewart wins the tournament. And he remains undefeated.

Ahhhhh. So you want to know who the better fighter is going into the match. I had considered this, however I would like to let the fighters and the fights speak for themselves. I can do a write up beforehand, but I would like to leave the ratings a bit of a mystery. Judge from records and previous performances and such. Decide based on that who you think has the upper hand. You should assume that until defeated that the Champion is the best fighter in the UHB. Does that make sense?

Well, the very hyped, much anticipated rematch for the title left the crowd jeering. In a match that looked similar to the first where Frazier dominated early and gave it all back in the second half of the fight. Frazier again was more active, although not the more accurate. Both of these fighters look to be on the shortlist for potential title contenders. A rematch is scheduled.

FINALLY! Frazier soundly defeats Paul Cavalier, although I though that he should have won the first fight too. Cavalier's cut from the first fight was reopened and made much deeper. The fight doc told the ref his opinion and that was that. Frazier would have won anyway though. I was surprised when Cavalier went down in the 10th, considering Frazier has so little power. Frazier's stock would be a lot higher if he hadn't gotten his clock cleaned by Alex Stewart. Cavalier is considered a tough mid level fighter at this stage.

***********News**************
There will be a title rematch between Sinan Samil Sam and Al Reich. Reich's camp has claimed that their fighter was under the influence of a depressent before the match. That would explain his unwillingness to throw punches. They say that he is more prepared and ready to take on the Bull. News from Sam's camp is that they are doing the same things that they did to get to this place. Sam is ready, they feel that Reich is not in the same league as Sam and that he will be no competetion.
Reich needs to do the same things in this fight that I said he needed to do to win in the last fight. Sam dominated and was hardly tested. Will he do as well the second time around?
Al Reich's keys to victory-
-Reich has to repect the power with which Sam hits.
-He needs to use his superior defensive ability and box his opponent.
-Reich has not been tested. This is likely his toughest fight. Did he train well enough?
-Working on a string of 2 consecutive knockouts and 5 consecutive wins.
Sinan Samil Sam's keys to victory-
-Training is important. He found out against Ficucello that training can make or break the fight.
- Out work Riech, apply pressure and close the gap. Take the fight to him.
- Don't underestimate Reich's power. Sam's chin has not been rock solid.
- Sam won his last fight by unanimous decision.
Sam goes in as the heavy favorite. The oddsmakers remember the way that he ended it the first time around and are showing Reich no respect. They feel that Reich is not a match for the much bigger and more powerful Sam. They feel that the info from Reich is a lie. They think that Reich has no shot.

Reich put up much more of a fight in this fight than the previous one. He was active, just not as accurate as he needed to be. His endurance was a major problem, what would he have done if he had not tired early. That certainly had to do with his flash knockdown in the 11th. Had he not been knocked down, he would have gotten a draw. I had Sam by 3 so I have no idea what the judges saw that I did not see. Sinan Samil Sam....now undisputed UHB Champion.

On first glance there are some names that pop out here. There are some fighters who have done well, and should be expected to do so in this next round. You also have some young fighters who would like to strut their stuff, and of course the brand new fighters who are just anxious to beat on someone. The favorites that jump out at me are Ralph Ficucello, he has been inconsistant, but been able to put together some really good fights. Marvis Frazier who has gone far many times. His experience will help him here. Sinan Samil Sam, the Champ, who should do well. Alex Stewart who won convincingly in an earlier tournament. And Paul Cavalier, who like Ficucello, has been up and down, but always seems to be around.

Opener
David "The Boss" Bostice 0-1-0 v. Murray Gitlitz 1-5-0 (1)
Bostice lost a weak split decision to Jack Munroe, he is taking on an opponent in the middle of a 3 fight losing streak in Murray Gitlitz. To Gitlitz defense he has certainly fought the tougher opponents and grabbed a KO against the very same Munroe that Bostice lost to. Oddsmakers 2-1 Gitlitz
Prelim 1
Rudi Wagener 2-6-0 (1) v. Bruce "The Atlantic City Express" Seldon 1-1-0
After Seldon's shocking loss to Ed Mahone, his stock dropped. He needs this fight to get on the right track. In other news, Rudi Wagener has dropped 2 straight. They were both to fighters far superior to him, but a loss is loss. Both fighters can hit. I say that this one will not go the distance. Oddsmakers 2-1 Seldon.
Prelim 2
Riccardo Bertazzolo 5-5-0 (3) v. Ed "Too Tall" Jones 0-1-0
Bertazzolo is a somewhat proven fighter, and has some experience. While Jones had a horrible debut against a tough Marvis Frazier. Jones is looking to make a better impression in the UHB, while Bertazzolo is looking to turn around his 2 loss streak. Oddsmakers 7-2 Jones.
Support
Gus Ruhlin 1-1-0 (1) v. Al Reich 5-2-0 (2)
This looks to be in interesting matchup. Ruhlin had a nice showing in the tournament with a win over Alex Stewart, while Reich has lost 2 straight to the Champ, Sinan Samil Sam. Reich had been untouchable until then, and now looks to climb up the mountain against a game Gus Ruhlin. Ruhlin would like nothing better than to kick Reich to the curb again and take his place in the top flight challengers circle. Oddsmakers 2-1 Ruhlin
Co-Feature
Jack Gardner 4-2-0 (1) v. Ralph Ficucello 3-3-1 (1)
Ficucello has been a tough customer, however he has not won in 3 matches. Jack Gardner did well enough to be considered a look into the top levels of the UHB. This match will go some way to furthering either fighter in that direction. This is a rematch, in the previous fight Gardner won by unanimous deicision. Oddsmakers 3-1 Gardner
Main Event
Sinan Samil Sam UHB Champion 7-2-1 (2) v. Marvis Frazier 13-4-2 (1)

I don't know, never tried it before. I can't wait until we get to the point where you have the aging vet trying to make the money with his name get throttled by the soon to be great up and comer. The other thing that I like is that there is no real idea how good the champ is other than the fighters that he has beaten. You can concievably have a reign by a champ that would be dominating for his era, and then along comes a Mike Tyson and sets a whole new world of dominance. I like the way that mirrors life. Now if I can stick with it long enough for that to occr. This has already been my most succesful, and it is still fun and not at all tedious.

Now if I can stick with it long enough for that to occr. This has already been my most succesful, and it is still fun and not at all tedious.
Absolutly agree with you. I don't even look at how the fighters are rated when I create them using that utility over at OOTP, as long as they are a 4 or better. You'd be surprised at the rating of some of the top fighters in my dynasty. Good lucker here, I will be following along.

Wageners lack of endurance continues to plague him, after he went down in the 5th the match was effectively over. Seldon got back up on the horse and Wageners career is in jeopardy.

This might be the new worst beatdown. Bertazzolo landed so many punches that as Jones had just gotten up from the second KD, and the ref was deciding what to do and Bertazzolo hammered him a couple more times and the ref had to start counting again. This fight would have been stopped if Jones had managed to get back up. How bad is Ed Jones? Jones needs to seriously rethink his fighting stategy. For Bertazzolo this did not really do anything for him except give him a win, Jones looked so bad that it really did not help his credibility.

A solid win for Reich. Ruhlin may not be ready for the step up to this caliber of fighter. It was a close fight and Reich did go down late. Both fighters fought a similar style of fighting. Both were moving a lot, Reich landed many more heavy punches. That was primarily the reason for the win. This was a good fight for Reich, it means that he can continue to move up the path back to the title.

Ficucello as they say "left is all in the ring." This was one of the guttiest fights in the UHB. Gardner simply did not throw enough punches. You can credit Ficucello's training and his ring generalmanship for that. He was able to control the pace of the fight and even though he landed less punches, he threw so many more that Gardner spent the evening slipping instead of throwing. This was a missed opportunity for Jack Gardner, he needs to find another stepping stone to the top.

World Championship Preview
Tonight, we have the UHB title on the line. Sinan Samil Sam , the Bull from Bosporus, is ready to defend his title for the second time. This time against the #1 contender Marvis Frazier.
Sinan Samil Sam's keys to victory -
- Cut off the ring and get inside effectively. He cannot spend the whole night chasing Frazier around the ring.
- Find the weak spot on Frazier's chin. Frazier has been knocked down 11 times and KO'd 2 times.
- Control the tempo.
Marvis Frazier's key's to victory-
- Don't go toe to toe. You won't win.
- Use the Jab, and keep the left up. Your chin isn't stron enough to sustain much punishment
- Control the tempo, don't let Sam pressure you.
- Forget the loss to Gardner. He wasn't the Champ, it didn't matter then.

Robbed! Robbed! Robbed! Unfreakin' believable. If you had seen this match there is no way that this makes sense. Frazier fought the fight that we see all too often from him. Granted he was hurt about 5 times in the fight, but he never went down. Both fighters traded, but Frazier was more accurate by far. I had Frazier 117-112. How does he lose? There may need to be an investigation into this one! Early on it looked like it was going to be Sam, he was working Frazier's body and Frazier looked to be slowing down. Then Frazier's plan took over, and he controlled the fight. So much that by round 9 Sam was whipped. Marvis Frazier should be the new champ, Sinan Samil Sam left the ring with a sheepish grin. He knew he had lost.

Opener
Jorge Brescia 0-3-0 v. Ed "Too Tall" Jones 0-2-0
Not a whole lot of excitement here. Neither fighter has made an impact here in the UHB. Tonight they will battle, not unlike a maiden horserace. Brescia has looked marginally better in his 3 fights, while Jones has looked horrible. This fight may go before the doors officially open tonight, in order to save the crowd the horror. Oddsmakers 2-1 Jones

David "The Boss" Bostice 0-1-1 v. Rudi Wagener 2-7-0 (1)
Bostice was unspectacular with in his Draw against Gitlitz, however he did show spirit by coming back in a match that he should have lost. Wagener on the other hand is winning no admirers here at all. Having shown flashes of power and a horrid endurance, if he can't put Bostice away early, then he will probably lose. Oddsmakers 3-1 Wagener
Prelim 2
Jack Gardner 4-3-0 (1) v. Gus Ruhlin 1-2-0 (1)
Jack Gardner, coming off of a tough loss to Ralph Ficucello, is looking for a figher to use in his return to the top. Gus Ruhlin, who is still living off of his KO of Alex Stewart, needs something else in order to be considered an 'A' level boxer. This is his opportunity. Gardner is tough, but not unbeatable. Oddsmakers 2-1 Gardner

Bruce "The Atlantic City Express" Seldon 2-1-0 (1) v. Ralf Ficucello 4-3-1 (1)
Seldon returned to respectability following his win over Rudi Wagener. Now he looks to move up. Ficucello is a tough, gamey fighter who can give problems to any fighter in the UHB. Unfortunately, he isn't consistent enough to be considered a top fighter. This should be a good fight. Oddsmakers 2-1 Seldon
Co-Feature
James "Quick" Tillis 2-1-0 (1) v. Al Reich 6-2-0 (2)
Battle of the Boxers! Tillis can stick and move, and wants the opportunity to move up the ladder. His big victory against the Champ showed what potential we are dealing with here. He lost to top contender Paul Cavalier, and now he takes on another top contender in Al Reich. Reich the former champ cruised over Gus Ruhlin. A win here, despite Tillis' inexperience, would help to move him up the map. He is already considered an 'A' level figher, but the back to back losses to Sam hurt. He may not get a shot at the title any time soon, so he needs to take the chances to get back there. Oddsmakers 2-1 Tillis
Main Event
Alex "The Destroyer" Stewart 3-1-0 (1) v. Paul Cavalier 8-3-3 (2)
Your main event. Stewart has won a tournament and that holds a lot of water, but the loss to Gus Ruhlin was a shocker. Stewart would like to make that history here. While no where near the #1 contender spot his stock would rise with win. Paul Cavalier is the hottest fighter in the UHB. He has won 4 fights in a row. Cavalier has an experience advantage, but Stewarts power could cause problems. If Cavalier can win, he will move ahead of Marvis Frazier for the coveted #1 contender position. Oddsmakers Pick'em

It looked like Jones was fighting well in the first half of the fight. In fact, I would say he was fighting outside of himself. He hurt Brescia a couple of times, and certainly landed more big blows through the course of the fight. Brescia was a punch throwing machine. It just goes to show you how little power he has. Jones has one of the weakest chins in the UHB, and out of 330 punches landed, not 1 knockdown. Brescia is happy to have this win. Jones is on thin ice.

He was the better fighter, and now has not lost in 2 fights. I am sure he will look to step up in competition soon. As far as Wagener goes, big punch, big gut. So far in his career his gut is winning the fight. He has lost 4 fights in a row.

Ficucello was bouncing everywhere, around the ring, off the ropes, off the canvas. And like a boomerang he just came right back. Seldon did everything but knock him out. Seldon landed the big punches, but he didn't land a lot of punches. He certainly has power, and his career is helped out here. For Ficucello, two steps forward, and two steps back. Well, it doesn't get more decisive than that. Stewart was manhandled. He was lucky to even finish the fight. Maybe he should have called in sick today. Cavalier breaks the record for punches landed in a 10 round fight. If you need another idea of how he won look at the jab totals. Stewart 12...Cavalier 129. That pretty much says it all. Paul Cavalier is now undefeated since his war with Marvis Frazier and has moved into the catbird seat near the title. Given the hotstreak that he is on, I would not want to face him, and I would think that the Champ is as well.

Opener
Jack Munroe 3-6-0 (1) v. Ed "Too Tall" Jones 0-3-0
With wins against Long Tom Hawkins (remember him?), Ed Mahone, and David Bostice, Jack Munroe is clearly destined for opener status. He will try and improve on that with win over the talentless Ed Jones. Jones, who has already made a mark (with his back) in the UHB, wants a little respect. With a win over Munroe, that is exactly what he will get. A little. Munroe is coming off of a decisive loss to Marvis Frazier, while Jones recently lost to Jorge Brescia. Oddsmakers 2-1 Jones
Prelim 1
Murray Gitlitz 1-5-1 (1) v. Jorge Brescia 1-3-0
This is like opener #2. Gitlitz only victory came against Jack Munroe, he is in the midst of a 3 loss streak, and without a win in 4 matches. Most recently, he earned a draw with David Bostice. His career is on the skids, and he needs to get it back under control. For Brescia, he earned his first win over Ed Jones in unimpressive fashion. He has fought some tough fighers, his only saving grace is that he has yet to be knocked out. Not sure what the winner of fight will gain except some money. Gitlitz can move away from the dangerous edge of retirement with a win. Oddsmakers 2-1 Gitlitz
Prelim 2
Riccardo Bertazzolo 6-5-0 (4) v. Gus Ruhlin 1-3-0 (1)
Gus Ruhlin may have started his career out a bit too aggressively. With losses to some of the better fighters in the UHB and a win against an inconsistant Alex Stewart, he has fallen in the rankings. Bertazzolo is the perfect opponent. Good enought to beat the worst, but fallen agaisnt the more difficult. He represents a solid test for Ruhlin. If Ruhlin loses this match he can be certain it will be a long road to the top. If Bertazzolo wins it will send a statement that he should not be taken lightly. Oddsmakers 9-2 Ruhlin

Alex "The Destroyer" Stewart 3-2-0 (1) v. James "Quick" Tillis 2-2-0 (1)
Both fighters joined the UHB at the same time, but this is their first fight. He started his career in impressive fashion winning a tournament against top-ranked Marvis Frazier. From there he fell in 2 consecutive matches and now is faced with another capable opponent in Tillis. Tillis has been on the same path as Stewart, in his second fight he defeated the Champ Sinan Samil Sam in a non-title fight, but from there has fallen to 2 of the best in the UHB. After this fight one will go up, and one will continue down. One will need to prove that their early victories were not flukes. Oddsmakers 3-2 Stewart

Jack Gardner 5-3-0 (1) v. Bruce "The Atlantic City Express" Seldon 3-1-0 (1)
I am looking forward to this fight with great anticipation. Gardner who stock has been bounced up and down more than basketball is looking to take another solid step forward. The biggest name that Seldon has beatedn is Ralf Ficucello whom he destroyed in his last fight, would like to add Gardner to his trophy mantle. It would be the first upper level figher that he has beaten, and would put him on the potential list for future title contender. Gardner is obviously the toughest fighter that he has faced, but he is beatable. Gardner has been beaten by the same Ficucello that Seldon beat. Oddsmakers 2-1 Gardner

Al Reich 7-2-0 (2) v. Marvis Frazier 13-5-3 (1)
This is not the even that some of the fans have been calling for, but it is an intriguing mathup. This will be the 3rd time that they have fought, with Reich winning both previous matches, most recently by KO in the third round. A lot has changed though. Reich has lost the title, and Frazier has been busy, and lost a very controversial title fight with Sam. Frazier has a big experience edge, but Reich is a figher on the move. His only other losses were to Sam, and since he has Gus Rulin and James Tillis. This is a necessary fight if he hopes to challenge for the title. The winner of this fight puts themselves in line for a match with Paul Cavalier, unless Cavalier gets the title fight first. Oddsmakers 2-1 Frazier

I have to think Frazier has the edge as he's at prime now (fight 22) while Reich is still at the first stage (fight 10), unless Reich is actually a better fighter historically and therefore if they were both in prime, Reich would make mincemeat of Frazier. I should note that I have no earthly idea who any of these cats are, really. I'm just idly speculating. (My knowledge of boxing is restricted pretty much to historical champions at the heavyweight level. I've never really gotten into the sport much, especially in light of the fiasco that it is in this day and age. I'm following because it's something different on the boards and doesn't have the crap the real world sport has going against it.)

No surprise here that Jones was knocked down in the first, I thought that was it, but he got up and had a huge second round that almost ended it. Jones looked very strong early, he was able shake off the early knockdowns, but as the fight wore on his stamina became an issue. Munroe proved to be the hardier fighter and controlled the end of the fight. This was probably Jones' best opportunity for a win. He will get one more opportunity. If this would have been a 5 round fight, Bertazzolo would have won. Once the second half of the fight started it was all down hill. Ruhlin really let him have it, scoring at will and putting Bertazzollo down twice at the end of the fight. The end result of the fight was as expected. Ruhlin did a nice job of not letting the cut bother him. He was the busier fighter and landed more punches. He deserved the win.

The ref stopped this one. Tillis eye's were a mess. His left eye had closed, the right one was very swollen and both cuts over his right eye were causing big problems. Tillis didn't seem to be able to find any solice from Stewarts power. When he threw he was effective, but from the second round on, Tillis seemed to be looking for a way out of the ring. This is a big blow for Tillis. He has now lost 3 straight. Stewart on the other hand still has a couple of more fights to go to get back to the top of the rankings.

That point deduction in the second played a factor for Seldon. It looked like Seldon kept trying to load up for the big punch. Seldon's defense was enough to keep Gardner off of him, but he did end up landing more. Had Seldon been as busy, I am guessing that Seldon would have won. It looked early on that Seldon was going to win. Seldon probably could have trained harder and it would have affected the outcome as well. I would say an opportunity lost. For Gardner, a good win against a difficult opponent. Gardner is ready to look at the upper level opponents now. Is he ready for the Main Event?

Well Frazier did it. The fight was still quite close. How did he win by 4 and 5, then have a draw on another card. Did this judge just like the former champ better? The ref didn't help with that bad call in the second. Frazier didn't throw as many punches as I am used to seeing him throw, but his D was a big factor in keeping Reich off guard. Reich did not land as many as he has been averaging and his accuracy wasn't as good. So where does this leave them? Reich is still there, but he may need to endure some more wars. For Frazier, he certainly has matured into a good fighter, and his style is one of the most confusing for opponents. He looks like he would be a good shot for the title, but then Paul Cavalier hasn't lost in 5 fights either. Sam is going to have a lot on his hands.

Opener
Rudi Wagener 2-8-0 (1) v. Murray Gitlitz 1-6-1 (1)
Neither of these fighters have very bright futures in the UHB at the moment. Both have lost 4 matches in a row. Both fighters have lost to good boxers, and both have lost to Marvis Frazier in their respective streaks. Gitlitz victory came against Jack Munroe, while Wagener's best win was against top ranked Paul Cavalier. Needless to say he has fallen a long way since that win. Oddsmakers 2-1 Wagener
Prelim 1
Riccardo Bertazzolo 6-6-0 (4) v. Ed "The Hammer" Mahone 4-6-0 (3)
Here are 2 of the best knockout artists in the UHB. Neither has a really great chin so if this goes the distance I will be surprised. Bertazzolo has been up and down like a ping-pong ball, while Mahone has used his power to win some he probably should have lost. For each of these fighters, this is a middle of the road fight. The winner should expect to step up in competition and look to make a challenge run. Oddsmakers 5-2 Mahone
Prelim 2
James "Quick" Tillis 2-3-0 (1) v. Gus Ruhlin 2-3-0 (1)
Both of these men are down, but not out. Having lost recently in matches where they were the underdogs they are now matched together to decide their pecking order. Tillis, after having beaten the Champ has fallen 3 times in a row. All the losses are to big name fighters, and he still believes he should be up there. For Ruhlin, he was beaten by the same 3 fighters and is coming off of a decisive win over Riccardo Bertazzolo. Oddsmakers Pick'em
Support
Alex "The Destroyer" Stewart 4-2-0(2) v. Bruce Seldon 3-2-0 (1)
I have been hesitant to match the two of them up. Both have had up and down fights, and both have been supremely impressive. For all intents and purposes they are even. If Stewart can win, he will look like a genuine challenger, but if Seldon wins, he could begin his run to prove the same. The loser of this fight will take their mediocre record and move to the back of the line. Oddsmakers Pick'em
Co-Feature
Al Reich 7-3-0 (2) v. Jack Gardner 6-3-0 (1)
Reich is coming off the tough loss to Marvis Frazier, while Gardner would like a shot at the title. The Ex-Champ is going to have to be good enough. Gardner has put together wins over mid table fighers Ruhlin, and Seldon. Reich would be considered a step up and a genuine challenge. Reich needs to assert his dominance in order to reposition himself in line for a title fight. Oddsmakers 3-1 Gardner

He beat Cavalier by unanimous decision in 12 rounds. Both fighters have matured a little, and this one expects to be good. However, since Cavalier lost to Marvis Frazier he has done well, in fact all recent opponets are on the card today. Ruhlin, Tillis, Gardner and Stewart. Cavalier has won 5 in a row. An uninspiring fight, and dissapointing for Wagener. His career started hopeful and ended terribly. He never used the power that he possesed in this fight, and was put down once. The win for Gtilitz means more about surviving than actually moving up in the rankings. He will never challenge for the title, but he will occasionally make an opponent pay for taking him to lightly, or for the inexperience fighter to test his skills on.

I can't believe that these 2 didn't knock the crap out of each other. Make no mistake it was a physical fight. Both fighters pretty much stood toe to toe and hammered it out. Hence the scars from headbutts. By the 5th it looked like it was going to be a rount, and the 7th didn't look much better. These fighters put on a show today. From the begining it looked like Stewart was going to cruise, that all changed in teh 5th round. Rounds 5-8 were exciting, as both fightes flashed their power. Of course, now the question remains if they can take a big punch. Five total knockdowns keeps that question unanswered. Seldon seemed like he was loading up, and it did work, but his lack of effort in the off rounds is what sank him in this fight. Stewart showed more well rounded boxing skills, to go along with the power that floored Seldon 3 times. This fight probably should have ended with a knockout for someone, but both fighers showed good heart in hanging in there.

A short fight but the result was the same. Gardner had this fight in hand, and with Reich already tired it was only going to get worse. Reich was unable to effectively use his boxing skills, and instead was controlled by Gardner's power. Reich was landing good, but the fight was really out of his control. For as descisive as this fight was it has made it difficult for Reich to get a title shot anytime soon. Gardner continues to win, and will gain more respect as the level of opponent increases. Tonight, the UHB title is on the line. Sinan Samil Sam, The Bull from Bosporus, will defend his title for the 3rd time. His oppponent, Paul Cavalier, is the hottest fighter in the UHB and is tearing fighters up on his way to the top. There are however some questions.
First, Jack Gardner is the only fighter with any weight that he has beaten recently. He has beaten Alex Stewart, but the word is still out on Stewart. Second, he has lost to Sam before. It was a 12 round unanimous decision.
Sinan Samil Sam's Keys to Victory--
- use combiantions and work the body
- take advantage of his power
- cut off the ring, and keep his gloves up
Paul Cavalier's Keys to Victory--
- Take advantage of Sam's lack of defense and fire lots of punches
- Sam's chin is vulnerable, and he will be coming forward. Look to strike quick.
- Respect the power, but control the fight.

The Winner....and NEW UHB CHAMPION....Paul Cavalier!
Well there you have it. Cavalier mows down another, and this time he won BIG! I think that the judges were a little generous with Sam. It was a close fight, but once Sam went down that seemed to change things. Cavalier didn't even look tired until the last round. Not to say that Sam wasn't trying, I think he was doing all he could. Look at how many punches that he threw. His defense was horrid, and losing the ability to see in one eye made it that much more difficult. Cavalier is a deadly accurate puncher, and he flashed some power too. Sam hasn't been knocked out yet, and he wasn't close here, but I do think it distracted him. Essentially, Cavalier took what he needed to do to win the fight and did it. He set the tone, made Sam pay for his poor defense, and caught him coming in. Sam wore himself out throwing punches that didn't land, and then fought the uphill battle from knockdown recovery to swollen and cut eyes. Now how long will Cavalier stay at the top? And who will he fight next for the title?

Ed Jones 0-4-0 v. David Tua DEBUT!
Ed Jones is still looking for his first win in the UHB. David Tua is making his debut. Jones has looked horrible, and he hopes to win against the newcomer. Tua, however, has a bit of hype following him. He was a well traveled fighter at the amature ranks and shows a bit of promise. If Jones wants the win he hasn't picked an easy opponent. This may be the last time that you see Ed "Too Tall" Jones in the UHB. Oddsmakers 3-1 Tua
Prelim 1
Riccardo Bertazzolo 6-7-0 (4) v. Damon Reed DEBUT!
Betrtazzolo is not your run of the mill test fighter. He is a hard hitting gamey fighter who has had a share of ups and downs. Coming off of a tough loss to Ed Mahone, he wants a win. Damon Reed would like to prove that he can handle the experience and power of Bertazzolo. Who knows what the newcomer will bring, but you can lay money down on how Bertazzolo will plan to fight in this one. Oddsmakers 7-2 Reed
Prelim 2
Gus Ruhlin 2-4-0 (1) v. Jorge Brescia 2-3-0 (1)
Here are two fighters passing in the rankings. Ruhlin started his career off promising with a KO victory, while Brescia lost his first 3 fights. For Ruhlin, a win to move back up the ladder, while Brescia takes on a challenger that is much more of a challenge than his last 2 fighters. Still, there might be enough between the two of them to make a good fight. Oddsmakers 3-1 Ruhlin
Support
David Bostice 1-1-1 v. Ralph Ficucello 4-4-1 (1)
The promoters are sorry that this was the best fight to offer up for the card. Bostice has been unspectacular while Ficucello has been maddeningly inconsistant. This could be good or very, very bad. Ficucello has lost 3 of his last 4 fights, but holds victories against Sinan Samil Sam and Jack Gardner. If things had gone differently for him he could be looking at a possible title fight. For Bostice, a win over the retired Rudi Wagener. Ficucello is a big test for him and will act as a big pivot point on where his career goes next. Oddsmakers 2-1 Ficucello

Two figheters on the move. This could be the main event but we couldn't supplant the other BIG match. Both men are on the way up. Gardner has put a string of victories together, and needs to beat the men higher up in the rankings. At the same time, Stewart has been impressive. He lost to Gus Ruhlin, and the Champ - Paul Cavalier, and has victories over Marvis Frazier, Bruce Seldon and James Tillis. Certainly the winner of this fight could move into or close to the #1 ranking. Oddsmakers 3-2 Gardner
Main Event
Sinan Samil Sam 8-3-1 (2) v. Marvis Frazier 14-5-2 (1)
Without the distraction of a title fight these two will get to go at it to resolve the scandal that occured after their last fight. Sam has a lot to lose if he drops a second fight in a row, and might find himself far away from talks of a title rematch. While Frazier would like to challenge the man that he drew with twice before TKO'ing him in a recent tournament, in Paul Cavalier. Frazier is the more experienced fighter, while Sam has power and Frazier's weak chin. Hopefully this will decide who the better figher is better than the last one did. Oddsmakers 3-2 Frazier

He did a nice job of rebounding and did what he has done more than any fighter in the UHB. That is finish his opponent. His 7th win and 5th by KO, makes him dangerous to anyone he faces. But like Ed Mahone, his defense and chin make him an easy target too. Reed had a tough opponent for his debut. And the former champ beats Frazier again! From the opening bell Frazier was executing his gameplan and this fight looked like it was going to avenge the loss in their earlier meeting. With a huge lead in the 5th, Sam fired a punch that Frazier obviously was unprepared for. That lead to a series of rounds where Frazier could not find a way to dodge the big blows. By round 9, he found his boxing skills again and won the last 2 rounds, but the damage had already been done. Sam did in this fight what he could not do in the earlier one - put Frazier down. Frazier's defense did not seem up to snuff and he didn't throw enough punches to separate himself as the more dominating fighter. For him to win he should have had over 300 punches landed. The judges saw enough from the fromer champ to give him the fight. Sam proves that he still belongs at the top, by taking out the #1 challenger. Frazier can still plan to be at the top, after all he just lost to the former champ. And he knows that he has beaten the current champ before.

********The UHB Announces....**********
An 8-man Tournament over the span of a 4 weeks, at various locations around the world. Entries are open to any fighter in the UHW, with the bottom 2 slots already reserved for our new fighters who have yet to fight. It will be a seeded tournament, and the fighters will be picked at random.
I like tournaments. It gives the opportunity for low fighters to catch a higher ranked fighter off guard in a match that otherwise would not be booked. Of course, depending on who it is they could get really hurt too.
More on the entrants, and a preview later.

Tourney Preview
#8 Gene Jones DEBUT!
A tough way to make your start. Alex Stewart won out in his tournament debut, and his career is going well. Not a lot expected from the bottom seed.
#7 Buster Douglas DEBUT!
Another new fighter. He is rated higher than Jones just on alphabetical order. Again, not much expected. Not much to lose either.
#6 Jack Munroe 4-6-0 (1)
He has some wins, but all are against losers. His last win was against the now retired Ed Jones. Here is an opportunity to show the upper level talent that he shouldn't be taken lightly.
#5 Riccardo Bertazzolo 7-7-0 (5)
A big hitter, of opponents, and hitting the canvas. Not really sure what to expect from him. He draws a difficult #5 seed. Last win was a come from behind TKO against the green Darren Reed. Only 2 wins in last 6 fights.
#4 David Bostice 1-2-1
Not sure what they were thinking seeding Bostice so high. He is still pretty new, and coming off of a KO at the hands of Ralph Ficucello. Only win was against Rudi Wagener. At this point he is a nobody. Pretty much a real long shot in this one.
#3 Ralph Ficucello 5-4-1 (2)
A very dangerous fighter. He has wins against Samil Sam as well as Jack Gardner. His losses are to good fighters too. Stewart, Seldon, Gardner, and Sam. I would say he is a dark horse in this competition.
#2 Alex Stewart 5-3-0 (2)
Previous winner in a tournament like this, now the #2 seed. A series of wins could help propel him back near the top. He has to be considered one of the favorites. He draws Douglas, and a rook fighter should be no problem for him.
#1 Jack Gardner 8-3-0 (2)
At this point Gardner is considered the #2 contender for the title, behind Sam. He has won 4 fights in a row, most rescently against Alex Stewart. Fans are salivating at the prospect of a rematch. If Gardner can win this he may jump over Sam in the rankings.

OK, so this was a typical opening round fight. Gardner was in no danger and showed nice for the crowd by getting the KO. Jones didn't want to hang in there anyway with the condition his eyes were. He would have taken a boatload more punishment. Gardner moves on without difficulty.

Apperently the judges were watching spongebob during this one. Bostice should have easily won this fight. He was robbed in this one. Although from a spectator point of view the fight stunk. The last 3 rounds were a lot of standing around. Bertazzolo really only won 1 round outright, and that was the 7th. This fight will be fought again, much to the dismay of the Bostice Camp.

Bertazzolo showed up for this one. This was a much better fight with rounds 6 and 7 being especially good. Bostice had decided to go toe to toe and lost. He still seemed distracted, like he shouldn't be here. He underestimated Bertazzolo, while Bertazzolo executed his game plan to perfection. Bertazzolo will face Jack Gardner in the semi - finals.

The funny thing is that Douglas didn't looks that good. Stewarts chin has been a question in the past, but he has been dominant. He was not here today, and his problem will follow him some more.

This was a great fight for the fans, and a good win for Ficucello, but it could have turned bad too. Neither fighter was especially graceful, or used great boxing skills. They landed huge blow after blow, until Munroe had just had enough. Ficucello has had better fights in the past, he is lucky to get out of here with a win. For Munroe, another loss against an opponent that he needed to beat if he ever wanted respect in the UHB.

AAGGHH! Another backward step for a top contender! This loss just made this entire tournament a huge mistake for Jack Gardner. Instead of winning it all and possibly challenging for the title, he falls to mid-ranked Bertazzolo. Credit has to go to Bertazzolo though. The man with the most KO's in the UHB floored Gardner in the 2nd and that was enough to win the match. Even though Bertazzolo threw more punches he was more wild, and winded quicker. Gardner couldn't get to his chin and seemed to be looking past his opponent and in to the finals. This match is the first loss for Gardner in 6 fights. Bertazzolo is now undefeated in his last 4, and moves on to the finals.

And so Buster Douglas becomes the second fighter to win a tournament in his debut. He ends up defeating Stewart in a fight he was losing. Cuts Ficucello and wins by TKO in a fight he was losing, and gets a unanimous decision over a fighter that before this tournament was considered marginal at best. A great way to start a career and he should be proud. For Bertazzolo the dream ends here. He almost put Douglas away in the 10th, but it was his own chin that got him in trouble throughout the fight. Rounds 4, 6 and 7 were especially entertaing, with the fighters trading punches like trading cards, with the 1st really being the only dud of a round. Buster Douglas wins the tournament.

Opener
David Bostice 1-3-2 v. Damon Reed 0-1-0
Reed lost his debut to Riccardo Bertazzolo and has a lower ranked opponent in David Bostice. Bostice has done next to nothing in the UHB, here he is used to test the new talent. His star has shown as bright as its going to get. Reed has another chance to start his career. Oddsmakers 2-1 Reed
Prelim 1
David Tua 1-0-0 (1) v. Murray Gitlitz 2-6-1 (1)
Tua sailed through his debut sending Ed Jones into retirement. Gitlitz is a small step up in competetion. Gitlitz has struggled in the UHB and has gained next to no respect. Even a win against an untested Tua would help his career at this point. Oddsmakers 2-1 Tua
Prelim 2
Bruce Seldon 3-3-0 (1) v. Gus Ruhlin 3-4-0 (2)
FOr both of these fighters this could be a pivotal match. Both started their careers off on the right foot. Seldon hasn't ducked anyone, and has the rough record to show. Despite his record, he is one tough customer. Ruhlin has been on a bad streak, and a win here would help to get things gonig in the right direction. Oddsmakers 2-1 Seldon
Support
Al Reich 7-4-0 (2) v. Alex Stewart 5-4-0 (2)
Reich is the former champ who has been going backward since his last loss to Marvis Frazier. He has good boxing skills and his defense is good. Stewart has fought some tough matches, but his chin has been a big question mark. He hits hard, but can't take a great punch. He shouldn't fear Reich's power here, but he shouldn't underestimate it either. Oddsmakers 2-1 Stewart
Co-Feature
Buster Douglas 3-0-0 (2) v. James Tillis 3-3-0 (1)
Probably too much fanfare for Douglas, but something good has to come from picking up a tournament win. Douglas is good, but how good? His wins were odd, and he never looked great. Tillis is a test for him, he is a middling fighter with the ability to box or punch. This also is a shot for Tillis to put his face back in the contenders pool. Oddsmakers 2-1 Douglas

Tua proved a tough customer against the poorly trained Murray Gitlitz. A win is good for the young fighter, even if it is against one of the lowest ranked fighters in the UHB. Tua struggled early in the fight, and Gitlitz looked like he was confusing him. With Tua hurting his hand, Gitlitz looked to be in an even better position. By midfight Tua had taken over. Douglas through a lot of punches and landed way more than the counterpuncher. Tillis, who is reputed to have a pretty good defense, didn't fare well. This fight was boring in spots with the crown booing the action in at least 4 rounds. Douglas showed his boxing skills, and at time he and Tillis danced merrily around the ring, and nothing else. Tillis slips again in the rankings and has only won 1 time in his last 5 fights. Douglas beats a quality opponent and his 4-0 record is starting to make waves in the UHB.

UHB Heavyweight Title Fight Preview
Tonight, we have a rematch between the current UHB champion, Paul Cavalier, and the former champ Sinan Samil Sam. In the first title match Cavalier came away with the absolute unanimous decision win. He dominated the fight and sent Sam to the canvas in the 5th round. He landed over twice as many punches as his opponent despite throwing less. Since the loss Cavalier has not fought, instead saving his winning streak for this match. Sam has had one fight, and unanimous decision win over Marvis Frazier in which he floored Frazier 3 times, and lost almost every other round.
Sinan Samil Sam's Keys to Victory--
-- He needs to be more accurate. Currently the wildest boxer in the UHB he wears himself out by missing punches.
-- Defense must improve. Pasted over 400 times in the first fight, not a good omen coming into tonight.
-- Combinations. Wear Cavailer out and you may be able to get to him. Cavalier has only been down 4 times and stopped inside 10 rounds 1 time. You cannot get him with one punch.
Paul Cavalier's Keys to Victory--
--Box-Box-Box. Sam has never been knocked out, but if you hit a building 400 times, eventually it will fall.
-- Let Sam wear himself out. Duck and Move, let him throw, miss and run after you. His stamina won't hold out forever.
-- Keep doing what got you here.
-- Respect Sam's power. He only has 2 KO's but has floored his opponent 19 times. You don't want to be number 20.

This was a good fight. To his credit, Sam fought much better this time around then in his last title fight. His defense was still poor, and he was again hit twice as many times and he still through more punches. But, he did put Cavalier down in the second and looked to end it right then and there. Cavalier came back strong in the 3rd and the 4th and 5th rounds were wars. In fact, the only round that was a little slow was round 10. Sam could not solve the solid skills of Paul Cavalier, in the end again, he was the better fighter. Will his career follow that of Al Reich, who lost and lost the rematch? Stay tuned.

*****UHB/Ring Magazine Rankings*****
A little side note. I have not posted any rankings to this point because I felt that the Federation was too young to really be able to rank the fighters. Up til now rankings have been word of mouth. Now, from time to time, there will be rankings. Some will be official while some will be unofficial, such as from other publications. Fighters need to have 10 fights under their belts before they are really considered to be ranked. Thanks.
Here are the official UHB rankings brought to you by Ring Magazine:

#1 -- Marvis Frazier
#2 -- Sinan Samil Sam
#3 -- Jack Gardner
#4 -- Alex Stewart

Gene Jones 0-1-0 v. Jack Munroe 4-7-0 (1)
Youngster Gene Jones steps up to take on journeyman Jack Munroe. For Jones, this looks to be an easier fight than his debut against Jack Gardner. Munroe is here for the paycheck and Jones looks to test his skills. Oddsmakers 2-1 Jones
Prelim 1
David Tua 2-0-0 (1) v. Jorge Brescia 2-4-0 (1)
David Tua has looked good in his first 2 fights and has a mild challenge in Brescia. Brescia has not beaten anyone good. His only wins were against the now retired Ed Jones, and Murray Gitlitz. Funny thing is that is the 2 wins for David Tua as well. Sort of ironic isn't it? Oddsmakers 5-1 Tua

David Tua took Brescia to the cleaners. Although he won almost all the rounds, he looked sloppy doing so. His saving grace was constantly pounding Brescia with hugh blows, and winning each round with ease. In the end, his power finally got the best of Brescia and he could not answer the count. The young fighter earns good win at the expense of the less than stellar Brescia.

If this fight would have gone for 10 rounds it would have been one supreme ass whiping. 234 punches landed in 6 rounds? WOW! Mahone pretty much just stood there and from the opening bell was like a sparring partner. Maybe he should look at doing some of that if this is the way he wants to fight. He still can be dangerous, but he was not today. Douglas looked very impressive and his name may start to jump to the list of title contenders. He has some more boxers to go through before he gets there.

Now this was more like the fight the fans came to see. Two fighers who have a little history pound on each other like the loser is going to die. By the end 7th round it looked like it was going to be another tough loss for the title-shot hopeful Gardner. Boy did he ever come back. He won the fight in the last 3 rounds. For Ficucello it was a tough loss, he did very well, but in the end he was a beaten fighter. He was as surprised as Gardner was when he nearly KO'ed him in the second. This is so far the fight if the night. So how much does it mean when #3 beats #5? Is he ready for prime time?

This was a big blow to the former champ. He was hoping to get another win and put himself back in line for a title shot. Now he falls with a loss to an inexperienced fighter in Seldon. Seldon my look to step up his competition again in the hopes of getting a title shot. Either way this match was a plus.

Frazier was executing his gameplan and doing what he needed to until he got caught with a shot. He was landing well, although neither fighter was proabably throwing enough. Stewart wins his 4th fight by KO, and by knocking out the #1 contender proves that he should be at or near the top. His power is a force to be rekoned with. Opener
David Bostice 1-4-2 v. Gene Jones 1-1-0
Bostice seems destined for opener status and is in the middle of a 3 match losing streak. Jones recently grabbed his first win, meanwhile Bostice is hoping a young Jones proves to be an easy target. This looks to be a less than stellar matchup. I am sorry for this, but I will make it up to you later. Oddsmakers 2-1 Jones
Prelim 1
Murray Gitlitz 2-7-1 (1) v. Gus Ruhlin 3-5-0 (2)
A couple fighters who have fallen on hard times. Gitlitz has made no impact in the UHB while Ruhlin is best known for his debut. Since then he has fallen off the planet. This should be an easy fight for him. For Gitlitz this is an opportunity to fight a fighter who has been ranked higher. A win here would be important for his career. A loss wouldn't change much. Oddsmakers 5-2 Ruhlin
Prelim 2
Riccardo Bertazzolo 9-8-1 (5) v. James Tillis 3-4-0 (1)
Bertazzolo recently beat Jack Gardner and then lost to Buster Douglas. Tillis is not up to either of those fighters standards so you would think that he would be the favorite. Right? Wrong! Tillis has fought some very tough competition and is probably not getting the respect that he deserves. His record doesn't look that good, but he has beaten Samil Sam. His losses are to 2 Champs and an currently undefeated fighter. Bertazzolo is known to have a good punch but what else can he bring? He has consistently beaten lower level fighters while losing to upper level fighers. So where does Tillis fit in and how will he do against him. Oddsmakers 5-1 Tillis
Support
Al Reich 7-5-0 (2) v. Ralph Ficucello 6-6-1 (3)
This is a very interesting match. Reich is a former champ who has lost some fights against tough boxers while Ficucello is a tough boxer who has lost, while giving good fighters a real beating. Are you with me so far? Ficucello recently lost a close fight to Jack Gardner, but is 3-5 in his last 8 fights. Reich has lost 3 straight to Frazier, Gardner, and Stewart. This should be a very entertaining fight and one the oddsmakers are having trouble with. Oddsmakers Pick'em

Bruce Seldon 5-3-0 (2) v. Buster Douglas 5-0-0 (3)
This could be the main even, but the promters aren't sure that Seldon is that marketable yet. His big win over Samil Sam has helped him, but losses have not given him the respect that he feels that he deserves. Douglas is the guy that noone wants to fight. Undefeated, with 3 KO's he could be a dangerous road to the title bound contender. Seldon is taking that chance in the hopes that is improves his respectability. Douglas is taking a good step forward against a upper eschelon fighter in Seldon. Seldon is known to be a big puncher, but then so was Alex Stewart and Douglas managed a win there too. This will be a good one. Oddsmakers Pick'em

The looks like a good, close fight on paper. Unfortunately, the only reason is its close is because neither fighter could do anything. Some rounds were nearly impossible to score due to the low amount of action. Jones appears to be unable to hit the broad side of a barn, and against a 1-4 figher that doesn't bode well for his potential. As for Bostice he loses his 4th match in a row and he has to be thinking about potential retirement in his future.

This was an entertaining fight. In the begining Ruhlin was very dominant, and was looking to finish Gitlitz off early. However, Gitlitz came back and landed several big blows that hurt Ruhlin although he was never able to put him down. Ruhlin appeared to take the middle rounds off, but had enough sense of mind to win the latter rounds. He did win this fight pretty easily, and one more loss for Gitlitz isn't hurting his career anymore.

This was a descent fight. It was close, and the second round knockdown suffered by Bertazzolo pretty much cost him the fight. He did have other opportunites though. The last 3 rounds were very quiet. Both fighters were struggling to do anything and he could have siezed on that opportinity, but was unable. He looked worse than Tillis did when the fight was over. Tillis was unimpressive in a fight that he was the heavy favorite. He landed a good portion of punches, but just didn't throw enough in my book. A win in a win though, and he will be happy to have this one. Bertazzolo just draws a finer line between who he will and won't beat in his fighter record.

His defense was good, and landed effective punches. He is not a big hitter like some others, but he had enough to put Ralph down twice. In my opinion Ficucello looked like he was going to steal this one until he got caught in the 8th. It was all downhill from there as he ran for cover. Reich used his stamina to his advantage and never even tired out, while Ficucello's missed punches flat wore him out.

A big see-saw contest that saw both fighters on the canvas and saw judges split on the winner makes for a very entertaining fight. This was the fight that the crowd deserved as the fighters went back and forth. Both fighters landing punishing blows and taking big punches. So Buster Douglas is no longer perfect, but I think that he gaines respect in this fight. Seldon is a tough customer and depending on how he keeps fighting should be ranked quite highly soon. Seldon has just entered his name into the list for likely title contenders. He still needs a fight or two to win, but this was a big step. Granted, Douglas is no Paul Cavalier, but he was undefeated and gave him one helluva fight. Seldon and Stewart might be on another collision course and this time the winner might get a title shot.

UHB Title Fight Preview
Tonight, we have a matchup for the UHB title. Paul Cavalier will be defending his UHB title against the challenger, Jack Gardner. Oddsmakers have favored Gardner in this fight looking past his loss against Riccardo Bertazzolo. Cavalier has looked unstoppable on his road to the title, as he knocked off Sinan Samil Sam and then beat him in the rematch. Gardner is granted the title shot because of the loss of Marvis Frazier to Alex Stewart. Coupled with Gardner's recent victory over Ralph Ficucello and Alex Stewart.
Paul Cavalier's Key's to Victory --
-- The first fight was dominated by Cavalier. He needs to control the fight and land the better punches.
-- Cavalier is the most accurate puncher in the UHB. That needs to continue.
-- Do not underestimate Gardner. He is much better than he was the first time they fought.
Jack Gardner's Key's to Victory--
-- Will the real Jack Gardner please step forward?
-- Forget about the first fight, or the loss against Bertazzolo. Right now, they don't matter.
-- Figure out a way to get Cavalier to miss. Wear him down and be smart with your energy.

This was proabably one of the most unexpected results that you could have imagined. Especially the way that Cavalier had dominated the first fight. The first round was a lot like the first fight with Cavalier scoring at will. In the second Gardner tagged him with a good combination and the stunned Cavalier went down. He answered the count, but Gardner unleased the holy hounds of hell. He landed blow after blow until the ref could not take it any more. Of course Cavalier argued with the ref for a good 3 minutes about stopping the fight. You can pretty much count on a rematch here.

Well, that didn't solve anything did it? Or, now Seldon hasn't lost to Douglas in 2 consecutive fights. I think that the case for Douglas is a little weaker this time. He was knocked down twice after all. Both were one punch flash knockdowns and both surprised the hell out of Buster. Both fighters are tough customers and neither can be taken lightly. As far as title contenders go, Seldon has to be considered the higher ranked of the two.
