Did ok in my FOFC one.. 14 out of 16. (lost LSU and Pitt, but eh.. neither were going to the sweet 16.)
Joined the ESPN Page 2 Daily Quickie readers group, and despite being in the top 1% of all pickers with 15 out of 16, 50 readers got all 16 right, so I'm tied for 51st :P (out of roughly 6000)

14/16 BUT my two upsets in later rounds were screwed by the two teams that lost. I had Bama beating BC and UCLA beating Gonzaga. I still think eithor one of those teams could go down, but my sweet sixteen teams are now looking bad.

15/16, LSU. Gotta remember this day guys. All of our brackets will be in shambles by tonight. :)
13-16. I'm very happy about that because I pick tournament games on name only. I know next to nothing on basketball. Other than the fact they play on a rectangular court and there are 5 people on each team. The fact that I can't shoot, dribble, or jump has a lot to do with it.
UTEP...hmm....JeeberD. That'll work. UCLA, Texas Tech...hmm, UCLA sounds more intimidating. Creighton...man, that just sounds cool. I'll pick them, too.
Other than that, my name only picking won the rest.

I don't know why I do these pools anymore. I've never one in my life and every upset I pick never happens and i seem to miss every 8/9 and 7/10 game. Therefore, I was 8/16 yesterday. I think a chimp could beat me.

I think I had 11/16, which isn't bad considering I filled my bracket out in 3.5 minutes.

8/16, which isn't bad considering I know NOTHING about college BB.
didn't even want to do one, since I won last year (after correctly picking the final four and each game from then on) but my co-workers forced me to do one. then again, I started off kind of poorly last year

Not bad. All of my losses were close games that could have gone either way in the last minute, so I'm not complaining. 12/16 on the first day.
13/16. Not too bad. Just need my later round games to fall into place.

My "official" one, the one I put an honest evaluative effort into on ESPN, is 12-4. Another bracket that I picked purely based on seed vs. seed records (random number chooses against percentage) is 15-1. Overall, I'm averaging 12-4 over the seven brackets I've entered in various places.

Northern Iowa will win today. Sconny has no shot.
My wife picked her bracket based on taking colleges that her friends attended.
She is doing much better than I am. :(

20-4 in my official bracket. It's caught up with that other one that started out 15-1 and should pass it. That one has Northern Iowa in the Sweet Sixteen. Now averaging 18-6 overall. Time to see what the night will bring.

21-3... Stupid new mexico not showing up in the first half.. and downright idiotic charlotte for just playing nc state like it was a meaningless non conf game
19-5 thus far. I've lost one Sweet 16 team so far but other than that I'm liking the way my bracket is shaping up.

16-0 last night. (15-1 in one pool thanks to a screw up and hitting the arrow next to Iowa instead of Cincy)
26-2 so far. (Lost Minnesota - Iowa State and St. Mary's - Southern Illinois)
That said the final session tonight isn't looking good for me (2-2 with the games at the half)

I almost had them both... but decided I couldn't take them both and left UVM in there (I went to college with Coppenrath's brother, and he was my roommates best friend). Right now I'm not terribly happy I didn't stick with my first instinct on ODU.
Edit - BTW my bracket will all die this weekend... I have too many upsets in the Sweet 16. (I need WVU over Wake, UVM to win again, Wisc-Milwaukee again, and Utah all to pull off upsets to keep it going)

26-6 now on ESPN. I had alarm bells going off on the Syracuse game, but I couldn't pull the trigger. The Bucknell one was a bit of a surprise, though. Fortunately, I had both misses covered as I had picked MSU over Syracuse and took Wisconsin in an upset over Kansas. At this point, I have 15 of 16 Sweet Sixteen teams left (lost only Alabama).

The big explosion heard last night was my bracket exploding.
I knew Vermont would give Cuse everything they could handle, but I picked the Orange anyway. I had them heading to the Final four. I only lost two of my sweet sixteen picks (Kansas and Syracuse), but the damage has been done.

Any chance there's a consolation bracket this year?
I said before the brackets came out I was going to pick Vermont to win the first round no matter what. When I saw they were playing Syracuse I changed my mind cause I thought Syracuse could make it to the Final Four.

Of course, Bobby Knight would decide to pick this year to move past the Sweet Sixteen. Scratch another from that list. Need Wake to win tonight and beat them next week. I have them going to the Final Four before losing to Illinois.

I'm 5th overall on Yahoo (Neuheisel Rules) and in the 100th percentile on ESPN where I had an error when I entered my bracket and took an extra loss (900th place or so).
Of course I also lost one of my final four yesterday (Gonzaga, I hated every team in the Albuquerque regional, easily the weakest of the four), so that won't stay.
So far I've only lost 4 in the tournament: St. Mary's - Southern Illinois; Minnesota - Iowa State; Kansas- Bucknell; Gonzaga - Texas Tech
Unfortunately Kansas and Gonzaga were both in my elite 8.. so I won't stay where I'm at, but it's nice too see.

I don't know, I would have put Austin as the weakest. The 3 and 4 already failed to make the Sweet 16, and we'll see how MSU and Duke do today.

Yeah, Scott has been killing in our league to this point.
Of course, in the Albuquerque bracket the #2 and #3 already failed to make the sweet 16 ;)
In reality Washington was the weakest #1 seed. I wasn't sold on Wake Forest at all, and didn't like Gonzaga. I thought Louisville would be a higher seed, but I didn't really expect them to make it deep into the tournament. (I don't care for Georgia Tech at the #5 seed much either)
I took Gonzaga out of that bracket, simply for lack of other options. Put Ok State or Kentucky in this bracket and they roll to the final four (IMO).
In Austin, I wasn't sold on Oklahoma (hence I took Utah to reach the Sweet 16); or Syracuse (hence I took Vermont). I didn't like Michigan State either and almost took Old Dominion, except I figured there was no way we'd see a 12-13 matchup in the 2nd round. I did however like Duke and Kentucky on the top half of this bracket, and feel the top part is significatly stronger then the Albuquerque regional.
ScottVib
03-20-2005, 09:47 AM
dola, FWIW going into the tournament the teams I would have been comfortable taking to the Final Four in my picks were: Illinois, North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, and Oklahoma State. Kansas and UConn would have been just off of this list (although UConn fell back a bit for me, when they didn't have a viable back-up PG for the tournament). 2 of those teams ended up in Chicago, 2 more in Austin. North Carolina got the two teams just off my list in the Syracuse regional; which left Albuquerque without a single team I really liked as a potential Final Four team in the entire bracket.

I don't think I've ever done so bad on a bracket as I did this year.
Missed 9 of the round of 32
Missed 8 of the Sweet 16
Missed at least 3 of the Elite 8
Missed at least 2 of the Final Four
And my predicted champion team (Wake Forest) already lost. Fantastic.

12/16, 6/8, 3/4, 2/2 right now in my ESPN bracket. My Yahoo bracket's pretty much tied with it at 11/16, 6/8, 4/4, 2/2. I'm actually in the 99th percentile on both of them, but that doesn't mean much when the actual rank is in the thousands.
