Wow, this is an interesting change. I hope they make this a lot easier to tell when a drop in your powers occurs. I can already see a number of newbies being turned off by trying to figure out how to maximize a power. I will be fine with the change if they increase the initial amount of damage and defense that my scrapper has. Otherwise I am going o take a lot more hits and do a lot less damage.

You too eh Raiders Army?
Actually, Antmeister and I cancelled our subscription last night. But it's not because we dislike the game, but because we're cutting back on a lot of stuff to get ready for our big move to Austin, TX. We might reactivate our subscription at a later time, but for now, we're trying to cut back as much as possible and this is one expense we can do without... at least temporarily :)
As far as this Saturday is concerned, I'll be on, but Antmeister volunteered for the Horror Sci-Fi Film Festival and will not join us.

Eternal Focus still has one mission with the Envoy of Shadows. It is an easier mission than the others, an outdoor train mission where we could just go straight to the AV for the knockout. We would probably need to recruit a little help but perhaps we could knock this out on Saturday?

How tough is the Envoy of Shadow? My lvl 35 BS/Regen is probably close to encountering him...was wondering how much help I might need, or even if there was a slight chance he was soloable.
Raiders Army
10-21-2005, 12:21 PM
Well, I don't think he was that hard, with the right mix of ATs. We really needed a tank to keep aggro (I believe we finally brought him down with a tank, two scrappers and blaster).

I doubt that any AT could solo the Envoy. White Napalm (fire tanker), Professor Ion (DM/Inv) and a bubble defender took him out a few months ago but it was a tough fight.
Also, be advised you have to beat him in multiple missions...4 times overall I think was the count.

10-21-2005, 01:26 PM
Heh. My main is on Virtue. I have toons on Victory, but nothing even as high as the teens.
AV's are a real pain in the ass IMO, if they are just roadblocks against soloing. I mean, sure, I can solo to 50 by doing things other than story arcs. But what's the fun in that? I *like* soloing much of the time, is that so bad?
Bad-example
10-21-2005, 03:03 PM
There is nothing wrong with preferring to solo. I have a lot of demands on my time and I often need to take a 5-10 minute break with little or no warning when I am playing CoH. It doesn't seem fair to burden a partner or group with my inability to concentrate fully on the game, so being able to make solid progress solo is key for me.
Grouping within the SG on Saturday nights has been great fun though.

Yeah, that was a mini-rant against the devs. I have a lot of distractions too (kids), so some times of day I just can't really team. And lots of others, I just want to go at my own pace. Nice and steady, not breakneck, but not waiting around for a half hour to get a "full team" either. And I don't always want to be responsible for the well being of others as well as myself. Just go along, take in the content, etc. I think after I reach 50, I will be more open to teaming with my alts, time permitting.

We have had a lot of fun with our saturday night rumbles. With Dogerchick and Antmeister leaving the game soon, saturdays will not be the same. So, since this weekend looks like their last, perhaps we can try something extra fun? The Hess TF is supposed to be the best in the game. After doing a bit of research I pinpointed his location in Striga and checked to see if I had an alt with access to his TF. I am fairly certain that Gumbercules has done all the missions required.
Here is the summary of the TF. What do you guys think?

Just wondering...might those still be open to higher level toons? My level 36 had started Steph Peebles but stopped loooong ago. When I went back to her, I think she gave me to Long Jack, who gave me to Tobias. Ran a couple of missions of his after I was long past his level, and then he gave me Lars. I can still run missions for both Tobias and Steph (just did the other day), not sure about Lars though. But I'm thinking I still probably could, even though I've outlevelled it?

Not that anyone gives an enhancement, but I've canceled my account. The straw that broke my back was trying the CoV beta and finding the same gameplay.
This game was repetitive even in the very begining, but with the companionship of Raider's Army, hoopsguy, B-E, ant, DC, and others, I managed to find a reason to log in. Can't do it anymore.
We need to find a new game in which to gather. DDO is looking like something I might consider.

I vowed to never touch EQ, WoW, or any of the other fantasy-based shitpiles out there now. I like my Fantasy RPG's the old way; sitting around a table with friends, dice, and beer.
However, DDO doesn't look half-bad. I figure it may be worth at least a 1 month subscrip.

Yes yes - one on one controllers can be sweet. I took out a council this way (was red conned I think) with my grav controller near the train in Steel. As long as I kept him locked down with Grav Distortion - and I could reapply before it wore off - he had no shot. Especially with propel doing double damage. :)

I think you may want to try out Dark Age of Camelot. Nice single player experience, huge zones, and if you want to try out PVP, they have a nice system for getting alternate skills for PVP only. Otherwise the single player experience is solid and siege battles are nice too. I hear World of Warcraft is good, but I never played it, so I can't really say too much about it.

Issue 6: Along Came a Spider
New events in the far off Rogue Isles are beginning to have an effect on Paragon City.
PvP Zones:
The contested zones of Bloody Bay, Siren's Call, and Warburg are open for exploration by Heroes. There are a number of new missions available in these zones. Eventually, both Heroes and Villains will have access to these zones and be able to compete for the prizes they offer. These are PvP zones. If you enter these zones, you will be subject to attack by other players, except for small safe zones.
Supergroups:
Characters in Supergroup mode can now gain Prestige and Salvage. These will be useful to players who own both City of Heroes and City of Villains in base building.
* There are new Badges that can be earned by Supergroups.
* Newly expanded Supergroup ranks and Supergroup permissions.
* Supergroup Leaders can change the colors and emblem of the Supergroup after creation.
* Players can now choose to hide their Supergroup emblem when in Supergroup mode.
Graphics:
* More levels of graphical detail available.
* Character texture quality and world texture quality can be set separately now.
* New refresh rate and vertical sync options.
* New graphics options to enable Depth of Field and Bloom visual effects on supported video cards.
* Changed World Detail slider maximum to 200%.
Game:
* Improved game stability
Arena
* Gladiator Arena: you can now earn Badges to gain followers who will fight for you in special Arena competitions.
UI
* New Options window with many newly available player options.
* The confirmation screens for adding and deleting enhancements can be now be disabled.
* New pet window available from the Options window that displays the health of your pets, and grants the ability to unsummon specific pets.
* Macros can now be edited directly from the power tray.
* You can now give inspirations to teammates by dragging them on to the team window.
* New targeting commands: /target_custom_near, /target_custom_far, /target_custom_next and /target_custom_prev. To get a list of parameters, type the command without any parameters.
* UI changes to Trade Window. You can now trade salvage and type in the amount of influence to be traded.
Powers:
* Fixed a bug in the Thunder Clap power. It was Auto Hit, meaning Defense based characters had less chance of mitigating its effects than intended. This change affects Defenders and Controllers Storm Summoning sets, Banished Pantheon Witch Doctors, Circle of Thorns Air Casters, one of the Heroes Captured by the Devouring Earth and Skyfall from the Tsoo.
* Super Reflexes Auto powers now add some minor damage resistance that improves as the caster loses HP.
* Reduced the Endurance cost of Dark Melee/Siphon Life and Dark Blast/Life Drain.
* Pool powers: Stealth, Grant Invisibility, Invisibility, Combat Flight, Weave, Maneuvers, Vengeance, and Combat Jumping now Buff Defense to ALL attacks. This change was also made to all Primary and Secondary Stealth and Invisibility powers (including, but not limited to, Cloak or Shadows, Cloaking Device, Superior Indivisibility, and Group Invisibility). All Defense powers should now stack properly with each other. All powers short and long Help Text was updated to indicate this change.
* Improved Damage DeBuff of Tanker/Ice Armor/Chilling Embrace.
* Defender/Controller Empathy Resurrect Powers Endurance cost reduced.
* The Lightning Storm pet was generating Detoggle messages erroneously.
* Sonic Repulsion and Sonic Dispersion:
o Sonic Buff/Clarity and Sonic Dispersion powers have been switched in the order in which they can be chosen. This change affects Defenders and Controllers.
* Glue Arrow should no longer fade when the target dies.
* Poison Gas Arrow should no longer fade when the target dies.
* Disruption Arrow no longer accepts Damage Resist Enhancements. They were extraneous and had no effect.
* Flash Arrow should have Debuff FX more visible throughout the duration now.
* Changed Long and Short Help of Moment of Glory to clarify which Defenses it offers.
* Martial Arts/Eagles Claw critical hit now properly does smashing instead of lethal damage.
* Fixed bad short help text in Spines/Taunt. It said it was an AoE, but it is a Single Targeted Taunt.
* Fixed Dark Miasma/Tar Patch cat animation from sometimes locking you into an animation loop.
* Fixed Empathy/Adrenaline Boost animation from activating before the power was recharged.
* Removed Resist Damage Enhancements from Acid Arrow.
* Some Electrical Blast, Electrical Melee and Electrical Mastery powers now have a chance to return some of the endurance they drain back to the caster.
* Force Field/Insulation Field now also buffs defense to AoE Attacks. Dispersion Bubble now also buffs defense to Melee and Ranged attacks. This will allow Force Field powers to better stack with all defensive powers, even Super Reflexes, and even with multiple shields from multiple allies.
* Slightly Modified some Scrapper Martial Arts damage scales, end costs and recharge times.
* Reduced the Terrorize duration of Dark Melee/Touch of Fear.
* Slightly reduced Perception Radius buff from Leadership/Tactics.
* Dark Embrace no longer accepts Taunt Enhancements.
* Death Shroud now accepts Taunt Enhancements.
Stores:
Most stores and contacts that only sold 10 types of Enhancements of a given type will now sell all Enhancements of that type. (In other words, we fixed key stores that were selling just the Power 10 to sell all Enhancements of that type).
Debt Cap:
We have cut in half the amount of Debt you can carry at a maximum at any given time. Previously it was set at 10 defeats worth of Debt, it is now set at 5 defeats. (Defeats inside a mission map count as ˝ a defeat since they generate only ˝ the Debt). If your character has more Debt than the current cap when they log in, they will have their Debt lowered to that of the current cap.
Enhancement Diversification:
This is a new system being implemented into City of Villains and City of Heroes (when City of Villains launches) to promote the use of more different types of Enhancements in powers. Using a system of diminishing returns, when slotting the same type of Enhancement into a power, you will begin to see less effect of that Enhancement when the bonus reaches a certain threshold. The effectiveness of Enhancements you are slotting in can now be seen in the Enhancement Slotting screen.
What does this mean?
Simply, if you are slotting Enhancements and your bonus to a single attribute reaches 70% through Enhancements, you will begin to see a drop in the amount each Enhancement should be giving you. If you exceed 100% bonus, then the drop will be more severe. We have added to the Enhancement Slotting screen a display of how much bonus you are getting from your Enhancements. When you are adding in Enhancements that will be reduced in effectiveness you will be able to tell.
Note that this only affects Enhancements of the same bonus. So you can have a Damage bonus of 66.66%, and an Accuracy bonus of 66.66% (from 2 Single Origin (SO) Damage and 2 SO Accuracy Enhancements) and you will not be affected in any way. Adding in another SO Damage Enhancement will not give you a 99% bonus, but a 94% bonus, because the damage bonus now exceeds 70%.
A good rule of thumb is “2 Single Origins Enhancements (SOEs) = No Reduction. 3 SOEs = Slight Reduction. 4, 5 or 6 SOEs = Major Reduction”
(Also note that the above examples are for Enhancements that are +8.35% bonus for Training, +16.6% bonus for Dual Origin (DO), and +33.3% bonus for Single Origin)
What if I don’t have more than 2 SOs of any one type in my powers already?
Then you have nothing to worry about, your character will function exactly as they did previous to this feature being added.
Does this affect Dual Origin Enhancements (DOEs) at all?
Yes. If you have 5 DOEs of all the same type you would normally get an 83% bonus. Because of Enhancement Diversification your bonus will actually only get an 82% bonus. If you have 6 DOs of all the same type, instead of a 100% bonus you will have a bonus of 95%.
Are Hamidon Enhancements affected?
Yes. The bonuses that a Hamidon Enhancement gives you that exceed 70% will be reduced. Because of this change, Hamidon (and other dual-purpose) Enhancements are now combinable. You can only combine dual-purpose Enhancements that affect ALL the same bonuses (so you can combine Damage/Accuracy with another Damage/Accuracy, but not with a Damage/Range Reduction).
This totally cripples my character! I thought you were done balancing the game?
All the Issue 4 and 5 balance adjustments were done with this system in place internally here at Cryptic. All playtests, QA checks, difficulty adjustments and balances have been done with Enhancement Diversification in mind since March 2005.
What about Stamina? I need this to make sure I have enough Endurance to power my powers.
Because of the effect that Enhancement Diversification has on the Stamina power, we are lowering the Endurance cost of every non-Auto power in the game by 13.33%.
What if a power only takes one type of Enhancement to begin with?
You have a couple of choices. You can respec the character and only go so far as putting a couple slots into the power, or you can go with more slots and eke out a little more effectiveness out of the Enhancements.
How can I tell when I am not getting full effectiveness out of an Enhancement?
On the Enhancement Slotting Screen you will now see what bonuses Enhancements are giving you, and what effect slotting the next one will have. This will help you make the choice as to what Enhancements to slot over what.
Does it matter what order I slot Enhancements in?
No. The reduction in effectiveness is calculated off the total bonus you are receiving, so it does not matter what order you slotted the Enhancements in.
How is combining Enhancements affected by this?
Enhancements that are higher level than you give you a bonus above normal Enhancements, if you combine Enhancements to get a higher bonus, this may put you over the point at which a reduction in effectiveness takes place.
Some Enhancements give me a 33.33%/16.66%/8.35% bonus, and others give me a different bonus, how are these affected by Enhancement Diversification?
There are four categories of Enhancements, Schedule A, Schedule B, Schedule C, and Schedule D. The majority of Enhancements fall into the Schedule A category. This means that an even-level Training Origin Enhancement gives an 8.35% bonus, an even-level Dual Origin Enhancement gives me a 16.66% bonus, and an even-level Single Origin Enhancement gives a 33.33% bonus. All of the examples above assume using Schedule A Enhancements, since these are the most common.
Schedule B Enhancements are Defense Buff, Damage Resistance, Range Increase and To Hit Buff. These have a smaller bonus because a small shift in these values has a larger impact on gameplay. With these Enhancements a Training Origin Enhancement gives a 5% bonus, a Dual Origin Enhancement gives a 10% bonus, and a Single Origin Enhancement gives a 20% bonus. Enhancement Diversification for these bonuses kicks in at 40% with a severe drop at 60%.
What Enhancement Types are what bonuses (schedules)?
Schedule A Enhancements (33.33%, 16.66%, 8.35%) are:
Accuracy, Confuse, Damage, Defense DeBuff, Disorient, Drain Endurance, Endurance Discount, Fear, Fly, Heal, Hold, Immobilize, Intangible, Jump, Recharge, Recovery, Run, Sleep, Snare, Stun, Taunt, To Hit Debuff
These bonus types start to see reduction when the bonus is 70% or more, and a severe reduction at 100% bonus or greater. So your bonuses when slotting in multiples of the same Single-Origin Enhancement work out to:
1 SO: +33.3%
2 SO: +66.6%
3 SO: +95%
4 SO: +100%
5 SO: +105%
6 SO: +110%
Schedule B Enhancements (20%, 10%, 5%) are:
Range, Defense Buff, Resist Damage, To Hit Buff
These bonus types start to see reduction when the bonus is 40% or more, and a severe reduction at 60% bonus or greater. So your bonuses when slotting in multiples of the same Single-Origin Enhancement work out to:
1 SO: +20%
2 SO: +40%
3 SO: +56%
4 SO: +59%
5 SO: +62%
6 SO: +65%
Schedule C Enhancements (40%, 20%, 10%) are:
Interrupt
This bonus type starts to see reduction when the bonus is 80% or more, and a severe reduction at 120% bonus or greater. So your bonuses when slotting in multiples of the same Single-Origin Enhancement work out to:
1 SO: +40%
2 SO: +80%
3 SO: +112%
4 SO: +118%
5 SO: +124%
6 SO: +130%
Schedule D Enhancements (60%, 30%, 15%) are:
Knockback
This bonus type starts to see reduction when the bonus is 120% or more, and a severe reduction at 180% bonus or greater. So your bonuses when slotting in multiples of the same Single-Origin Enhancement work out to:
1 SO: +60%
2 SO: +120%
3 SO: +168%
4 SO: +177%
5 SO: +186%
6 SO: +195%

Have you changed your graphics settings? After changing them, everything ran smoother. I do have occassional lag, but it's not as bad as it was when I got the "Gladiator unlocked" message.
You're right, they really messed up the game. One of the reasons this game appealed to Antmeister and I was because it ran incredibly smooth from the get-go. If they don't change that soon, I'm sure others will cancel as well.

It looks like I am the only FOFCer that still plays on Victory. :( It feels weird being leader of a supergroup with no other active members. I still play but not very much. I do like the xmas bonus jet packs...flying is more fun than I expected...and the xmas gifts are a pretty cool holiday event.
I am starting to look at other MMORPG but will probably stick with CoH a while longer, perhaps get Eternal Focus to 50 before moving on. I have played EQ, EQII, SWG and WoW, with WoW the only one I would consider trying again.

Oh, I can tell you how that is. I have the same deal on Virtue - the SG is basically made up of all my alts at this point. :) I do play a lot, but unfortunately have run into a bit of a roadblock in my story arcs, as I have the Envoy and Countess Crey, and even though I've leveled a couple of times (I am +2 on the Envoy I believe), I still haven't beaten them. Came pretty close, but Envoy kept healing himself and the Countess got through my defenses when she was down to about 15% health. So between that and having a jet pack, I've decided to play my Mind/Kinetics guy a lot more, and am having a lot of fun with him.
I still need to play CoV a lot more too.

That's a shame. I really wish I could get back into it, but they ruined it for me. Tweaking the living fuck out of the game when they needed to add content.
Some day they will realize that, with this amount of variables, they will never balance the game. Each tweak busts something else, ad infinitum.
This was the first MMO that I really liked the way the characters moved and fought, however, and I hope other games pick up on what they did right and steal it while making a fun game.

I'm anti-pvp too, which is a shame because I think some of the content in the zones (explored before there were villains) might be good. I just have little taste for fighting other players.
My main is at lvl 43 now, and luckily is a little more freed up with missions having gotten help with the Countess. Being very careful about taking story arcs w/o av's in them currently - which rules out the Nemesis arc (which is too bad, I *love* beating on Nemesis troops), anything from Tina McIntyre, or the Madeline Casey arc, or anything past level 45. That leaves Melvin and the Malta (almost through) and a Rikti arc. So yep, forced teaming. I suppose I'll do it, but I won't be that thrilled about it.

Good news from the developers for those still playing CoH/V:
AND now...we're changing the way Archvillains spawn. A ton of forum goers disliked adding so many AV's into missions a while back...so we've come up with a solution. If the team size and mission difficulty are ABOVE a certain level, an Archvillain spawns. Below that, players will face only an Elite Boss. If the mission is set on the first two levels of difficulty, it takes 4 heroes or more to spawn an Arch Villain. On the third level, 3 heroes or more. On the fourth level, 2 heroes. On the highest (Invincible), a solo hero will spawn an AV. Note this works in BOTH City of Heroes and Villains.
Probably in Issue 7 (i.e. Feb or so)

I just hit 49 this weekend, 7 more bubbles to go.
I missed the questions about the AV->EB change, but yes, it went through a couple of weeks ago (as I said in the WoW thread). It has made the 40's enjoyable, where I thought they were going to possibly make me play another toon before. Thus far I have been able to solo (level in paren):
Clockwork King (+1)
Nosferatu (+1)
Nemesis (+1)
Adamastor (+1)
Anti-Matter (+1)
Neuron (-1)
Madame of Mystery (-1)
Bile (-)
Dreck (-)
Requiem (+1)
Vanessa DeVore (-)
Nemesis? (+1)
Infernal (+1, with summoning altar)
Neuron and the Madame I either leveled up or put the mission difficulty down in order to solo, as they had endurance drains that absolutely killed my regen. Up until then, even the +1 elite bosses didn't give me much trouble (Adamastor, Nemesis were almost too easy). Vanessa took care of me when she was +1, but taking out Requiem (and completing Unai's arc) got me a level...that and taking a different approach - simply popping five lucks - worked wonders, as she barely even touched me. Infernal absolutely sliced through me the first time with that axe of his (it is a HUGE hitter), but loading up on two rounds of orange insps reduced the axe hits to next to nothing, and I was able to defeat him before the second batch ran out. After that, the portal was just a matter of whittling it down and taking out the occasional spawn of Demons. I think that with the right combination of inspirations my toon can probably deal with any EB, but we'll see. Even if he can't, I should have enough non-EB missions that I can get to 50 without a problem.
Issue 7 hasn't yet hit test, and from the sounds of it won't hit live until late March/early April at the earliest. From what has been previewed, it is mainly for the CoV side of things...levels 41-50, and the content and zones that come with it, along with a couple of new villain powersets. In the meantime, they've added "Pocket D", basically an interdimensional bar/club that replaces the Dance Party, and allows Heroes and Villains to mingle. It is also handy for hopping between zones (KR, FF, Talos). For Valentine's Day, they added some Pocket D missions that require heroes and villains to team. I've not done any of these though to comment on them.

I haven't played nearly as much after reaching 50. I tried playing my Warshade and got him up to 9 or so, but solo (yes, I know they are best in groups) it's taxing. Around any corner could be a Void Seeker or Quantum. After having tight EB battles for oh, every other mission for 5 levels, this wasn't so hot. So I started playing lower alts, who were ok, and dug out my Emp/Psi. She's not so bad, and I *do* enjoy teaming with her (have to, really). But, I've had a lot of FOBL/FOFL/IHOF things going on the past week, so I haven't played much at all. No, NCSoft should still have your old account information (if you've lost it, you can probably get it back by calling support). You can then use the new CoV key to upgrade your old account, and you're set for CoH/CoV goodness.

I remember them saying something like: if you quit your subscription, your characters will stay but if some acitve person tries for one of your names they will get it.
I see that now (about the slots) and that kinda sucks. I also see that you can launch either game from the same server screen.
The new salvage stuff looks promising (more to do = good).
Penolope is back playing (if anyone remembers her) and we hooked up for a bit tonight. She is a ton of fun to hang around in-game.
Well, I guess I'm back. Was hoping there would be a huge change to come back to (for the better, obviously) but it seems that a lot is the same. Oh well, nothing out there is as fun as CoH yet. Still hoping.

Once upon a time I played the bejeezus out of this game. My one and only entry into the MMO arena - I just don't have the right personality type to balance my time in these games relative to other aspects of my life.
Hope that those of you checking this out for the first time find this to be an entertaining ride. Particularly those of you who go with the Tank builds.

I know the feeling. I had a 7 year ride on the original EQ (started in the beta) and just eventually got burnt out. The last few months of playing it had just become a 3D chat room for me. I've popped into a few games since.. DAoC, EQ2, Guild Wars, but none of them ever really stuck. All were too similar to EQ for me.
With my recent resurgence into Superhero RPGs, both computer and tabletop I finally figured I'd give this is a try and only regret not trying it sooner. MMORPG grinds are not a big deal to me, having been a "hardcore" player in the early years of EQ I've sort of grown immune to it as long as the environment captures my imagination.
Now if I can just drag my sister and brother in law into playing (They're *still* playing the original EQ) along with a few old guildmates, I know I'll have a great time. Might even have to set a channel aside on my teamspeak server for it. :)
If theres anyone still around and playing from FOFC let me know what server. Only had the game for a day and already have two level 10s and still not quite happy with my build decisions so wouldn't mind moving/restarting to join up with others.

One other observation...when I logged on as my first character, about an hour after popping into Galaxy City, and alien attack took place. I found myself tangling with a bunch of Ritki or whatever they are called. I got pissed because I was way outclass and died, but realized that you don't lose XP during the attacks.
So i came out of the hospital and saw the bombs falling. I panned the camera up, and saw these huge spacships lumbering across the sky, bombing the crap out of everything. I hopped up on a bridge and watched the attack, then jumped down and helped out when a group of aliens appeared below. It was a ton of fun.

I played a lot yesterday myself, did some Elite Boss hunting with my tank yesterday (Neuron, Battle Maiden, Black Swan, Malaise, Mother Mayhem, Infernal, Diabolique, Dominatrix, Marauder). Even stumbled into a Rikti attack in there, but the server went down while I was attacking my second bomb - grrrr.

I was at Lady Liberty when there was an attack...the lag was incredible. I'd hit the button to attack something and find out the result 15 seconds later. After one 15 second interval, i found out i was dead. :(

When I redo the costume I might also try to make him into a scrapper if they have any sort of ice based secondary, even if its gimped but I can't remember off the top of my head the scrapper secondaries. Just wanted to reserve the name when the concept popped into my head.

Sorry I missed you the other night, was so tired I pretty much passed out. (Work third shift and am currently on 10 hour shifts, 6 days a week. :( )
Anyways, Uafasach, the Virtue version is just a few missions away from 16 and the skill I've been dieing for... Intergration. Here's what one build guide said about the skill:
Integration. I don't need to reinforce the idea that this is another 5 star must have power. at lvl 16, if you take anything else, the developers may just hunt you down where you live and kill you, because this is nearly the best power in the game. It's got a sickening Mag 12 or 16 resist to EVERYTHING status. KB? Disorient? You name it, they hate you now. Go kill that dominator, he is your [censored]. 3 slot for heals, and never look back. This should ALWAYS be up. It also improves your healing rate by 190%. On top of fast healing. Are you seeing the trend? Regen builds on itself, so taking advantage of all of the powers becomes a multiplicative experience.
Also, broke down and built my supergroup of one. :) Had my niece playing the game and gave her a copy along with my unused 14 day trial. I'm hoping my sister and bro-in-law can be pulled from EQ into the game. Didn't go original and used the same name of the guild I founded in eq, "Bhur Gcairde", which is basically gaelic Irish for "Your Friends". It fits with the theme of my character, now just have to find others. :)
Still digging through my Irish dictionary for good names for the ranks and a backstory that fits with the game's modern theme. I figure I'll still keep it tied to ancient Irish mythology and the Tuatha de Danann. Will have to do some research but I've seen the game has Fir bolg as enemies down the line and might be able to tie it into the SG story.

Can't let this thread die quite yet. :)
After finishing the first of the Icon missions and opening up another costume slot I decided to try and give Uafasach a bit less sinister and more heroic look. While I still have the original outfit with just a cape added, here's the current yet subject to change look of my mighty hero:
http://www.uafasach.net/stuff/uaf2.jpg
Was also wondering if those with a bit more experience could answer a question of mine. Are the bank "safeguard" missions soloable? I have 3 or more available now from mass scanner mission frenzies but wasn't sure if I should get a team together to do them or if I could handle them myself.

They can be, yes. Especially if you have it on heroic - the villain will spawn as a lt I believe. If you're higher on the slider they become bosses, but are still beatable, though that may depend on AT and what the matchup is. I had a higher level mission with my INV/EM tank, and faced Shock Treatment (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/index.php/Rogue_Isles_Villains#Shock_Treatment). Well, she basically hit as hard as I did, her Power Surge was as good if not better than my Unstoppable, and she drained my end. I had basically no chance on my own. But, that's just one matchup - the rest I did fine.
Street mobs are manageable too, pairs or trios. On heroic, the side mission bosses will also be lt's.

Thanks cuervo. I've found as as a DM/regen scrapper I can solo everything decently except larger groups... Unless I actually use my head, along with some tactics to split them. If I can survive the combined "alpha strike", I can kill them. Other than my death to Frostbite the first try at him (and I *still* say I could have taken his ass if not for constantly being rooted in ice.) I've only died so far to the accidental hop into the middle of purple's while exploring.
I have to say, not since the original beta days of EQ1 have I had so much fun. Amazing what a love of the subject matter can do for a game. :) Well, along with an unhealthy addiction to mmorpg style games thats gone unfed for 5 or so years.
Actually figured out my characters back story now, and even a plausable explanation for having a "Natural" origin with the DM primary. Now if my webhost would just get its act together I'd get up a little character page/adventure blog and stop proddign this thread from the brink of death.

Only heroes so far for myself, although I do plan on trying out the "Dark Side" once I get my first toon to 50.
If you do start playing on virtue, keep your eyes out for "Uafasach". Have yet to do any teaming so far, but am definitely up for trying it out, just not with random strangers.. but somewhat strangers from an online forum I can deal with. ;)

Im always on, not sure why we haven't crossed paths.
Spent a lot of time last night killing Frostfire. Started out with an easy mission from the troll, and then he tasked me to kill the trolls daming the red river. About 4 seconds later, I was crushed with rocks!
So, I teamed up with two 13, and we lasted about 15 seconds. Spent the rest of the night running two Frostfires and assorted other missions, and repaid me debt and made level 12 with Anchors Aweigh. Fun!
Running through missions with a huge team is such a blast. Powers flying everywhere, dead thugs, and people leveling. Just had a blast.

Yep, your first level five contact sends you to the Hollows for an introduction... which is where most people get sucked in, as they don't realize they don't have to do Wincott's missions - once you say hi to him you can go back to your original contact and keep doing those missions instead.
CoH has definitely gotten to the point where you can't see all the content with one character (unless you artificially gimp yourself). That's okay though, since alts are half the fun...:D
Eilim, I've also got my 'personal' supergroup - if you want, we could form a supergroup coalition, that way you could use my base's teleporters - I figure my base is a little further along than yours ;)

It requires a full team of eight, so I'm sure if you hang around the TF contact enough you'll find a team forming (it will auto-exemp you). I tried it with some of the FOBL bunch and the rest pickup, but we had a complete ass on the team who refused to help at ALL ("whoa, I can't believe you all died and I didn't!" - sure, because he ran around the effing corner and didn't participate). Failed it, and only added to my Hollows hatred.

They are zone arcs rather than contact arcs - much the same as Striga, Shadow Shard, and now Faultline and the RWZ. Actually, Striga at least *does* give you nice rewards in the form of lasting temporary (oxymoron, I know) powers. But no enhancement at the end of them, no.
