So which is it I'm supposed to go to? The church or the mosque?

BTW, anybody else hearing those 'Public Service Announcements" on the radio lately? The ones about 'stockpiling food, flashlights, medical kits, water, ect., in a safe place in case of unexpected emergencies?" Or is that just another big joke the government seems to be playing on us?

Adjust the tinfoil to the right 0.13475 degrees, and you don't get those announcements anymore.

Funny thing is, I usually do hear them on Sunday mornings driving to church. Maybe that's why you don't? And what is the strategy behind the timing of that?
Remember hearing someone say that when the stuff hits the fan the ones that get rounded up are the ones that are not paying attention to what's being 'dribbled out' to the public and therefore cannot take care of themselves in an emergency. They the ones that get shipped off to the 'Superdomes."

I don't think the Muslim's have rapture, so we are safe. The rapture was a Revelations addition, so the Koran doesn't include it.

Well, from my religious studies, about the closest approximation we have to the rapture is nuclear holocaust. So if I'm gonna have to pick a side, I'm gonna go with the one that doesn't have documentation of a rapture in their beliefs.

Well, as long as your reading it. As far as being raptured before the nuke hits, doesn't really matter as it seems either way you get to heaven pretty quickly! ;)
What I would be concerned with is surviving the nuke and waiting around to see what happens next. If your Cartman, then the Chinese will save you. I'll take my chances elsewhere.
BTW, Revelation has the Chinese (Kings of the East) as the second wave attacking Israel after the first combined Russian/Iran assault. Both waves and the last get wipeout by the Return of Christ. So maybe the Chinese aren't such a good bet for you after all.

I'm not saying you aren't a Christian, but sometimes your sensationalistic posts (especially the "Coast-to-Coast" ones.) make me wonder. Actually, sometimes you make me wonder if you aren't another poster trying to make Christians look idiotic.
It's as if you hrive on creating negative attention for your beliefs. Do you think that if Jesus were here, he'd be as much of a media-whore as you? No.

Well, sorry if I do embarrass you, not my intent. Thought this story was pretty important, has nothing to do with coast to coast. Independent news stories support Iran's actions in regards to their nuke program, this story is one of the few to demonstrate a possible motive for it. And if that motive is even close to being true then I would state we are much closer to the unthinkable than we ever were during the 'cold war.' And if that gives some an opportunity to consider eternity then let me ask you, is that something that Jesus would do or not?

Sorry, until Skydog puts the topic off limits I'll put the 'eternity' angle on just about everything I talk about. Outside of sports. :)
The news stories are just tools in that regards. But rapture or not, end times or not, everybody still dies. Knowing where your going to spend eternity is pretty important.

Iran being a nuclear power would be a negative development, but it's not the end of the world. For state's to use nuclear weapons, they'd need to have a non-rational person, even more non-rational than the head of North Korea. We have more nuclear weapons than anyone, why would Iran send a nuke our way? The bigger problem is nuclear proliferation, which doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar. That, however, won't stop the GOP from sending the Bubba Wheels of the country public service announcements telling them that the sky is falling, conveniently ending in the middle of November next year (speaking of which, when was the last terror alert? I remember them happening every other week until right around the first week of November, 2004).

The paper I linked to was an English newspaper. How are they controlled by the GOP? And someone else in this thread talking about "Iran won't send a nuke our way because that would be irrational..." Wha? I thought that was the whole point about the article, that Iran IS irrational, and their leader has grand visions of bringing back this 'hidden imam' or whatever. And no, its not the same as Christians talking about Revelation (no s, hollywood!). While many Christians believe that Revelation will happen they are not actively attempting to bring it about by starting a nuclear war.

No but some Christians believe that helping the Jews take control of Jerusalem will bring about the end times. And I don't suppose that nuclear war would be out of the question if that's what it took.
Funny how a cult turned into a full blown regilious movement. Funny how a book that has some parts missing from it and parts added is so dearly believed in.

If you read and believe the Bible (which I know you don't), you would know that the Word is "God-breathed". In that respect, what you see at this moment is what was meant to be. People realize this and doubt (myself included), but faith assures them. As ridiculous as that sounds to someone without faith, it's the truth and it's very comforting. It's not something that can ever be explained, since it lies in a person of faith's heart. Even a lot people who are much more intelligent than you or I believe this.
Anyway, I don't want to start that debate since it can't be won until someone dies or believes.

That's a very good post.
It is truly unfortunate and sad that there are those professing faith but do not know about God's grace and love - which is the central theme of the Bible. We are called to live a life of humility and to love one another. It is by this love that God's grace can be known to others - a light, sort of speak. We are not called to be judgemental or to be perfect, that is the work of the Holy Spirit.
We are also not called to treat a life of faith as a secular sporting event where there are winners and losers, and the rules are determined by secular events. It is sad because instead of love, humility and service to others, there are those wishing to condemn, to judge and waste time looking for signs when they are supposed to be out there doing the work of Christ. It is very much irrelevant whether one passes on tomorrow or 100 years from now. We still live life doing as Christ would have done.
But if one is to live the life of a Pharisee and its legalism, tempted by secular signs and chose to be blinded by a cult of fear and hatred, then the only response is still to love and pray for the heart to become open.

It's all perspective. An Iranian newspaper sees Bush as irrational for saying God is on his side in starting wars of aggression against a non-threat. A conservative newspaper in Britian sees the Iranian leader as irrational. It should also be noted that Bush's 'axis of evil' comment is part of what led to the current situation in Iran. It allowed the hardliners to paint the moderates as on the side of the US , reversing the political moderation that had been happening in the country and leading to the election of the current leader.

Very nice post bro, if that map thing doesn't work out...
Mixing religions here...if being filled the holy spirit/born again, etc is like being enlightened do we lose choice?
I know that Jesus could have sinned at anytime, but really? If he was total spirit, filled to max, then all that could come out of him was goodness, his light could not help but shine. A lot of mystics and saints seem to be like this too; st francis, ignatius, teresa of avila, etc.
My point is that if one is, for example, "wasting time looking for signs" then can the quality of their faith be questioned? Judgeing not for their sake but for the sake of our own journey.
