Saw this at the Kroger tonight and had to pick it up. For those of you who forgot it is Coca-Cola mixed with coffee (or at least coffee flavoring).
I drank my first one tonight and I must say it was pretty good. It tasted like Coca-Cola with a hint of coffee (instead of the coffee taste overpowering the Coke). Basically made for a very nice aftertaste of coffee & Coke. Another winner by Coke (now for a Coca-Cola Zero Blak :D).

I think I'll brew some coffee, and just fill the water reservoir with coke zero. The ultimate low-calorie, high-caffiene drink.

I didn't think it was good, nor could I imagine paying $2 a bottle for it.

Well it was more like $1.25 per bottle (on sale) at the local Kroger.

Tried some the other day. So disgusting. Who thought that would be a good idea?
Oh, and I saw it for $2 at Walgreen's and $1.20 at the drug store across the street from it. $2 for an 8 oz. bottle is highway robbery.

I found it by googling last week. I think it was actually less than a cup of coffee or 20 oz regular coke because the size is so small.
I like it a lot too, but i don't think I'll drink it much if at all because the price is crazy.

If I'm investing in those expensive coffee drinks, I'll just stick with the French Vanilla Frappacino(sp?). That thing has always been good enough for me.

Yeah, same here. Nice to try... and if it comes down in price I'll get more of it, but at current prices, spending that kind of money once is enough for me.

not about coke blak but there's an italian drink called 'bibicaffe' that is evrything blak should be. It has a hint of vanilla (or something) that seems to make a world of difference. It's marketed as an espresso drink and it is very tasty. The only place that I know that has it is Cafe Baci in the Chicago area...

As far as Coke Blak goes, has anyone seen any in convenience stores? I'd like to pop in a pick one up on the way home, but am doubting they are anywhere other than Targets or Walmarts.

I just read that Zero is at 0.8% market share. That sounds low, but that's the exact market share as Cherry Coke, which isn't going away anytime soon.

What is the Coke Zero? it's not available in Spain, here we have the diet coke (named Coca Cola light) that is supossed to have zero cals but none named Zero.

Coke Zero is the "diet" version of Coke Classic. It's sweetened with Ace-K and aspartame. It tastes very similar to regular coke, and does not have a nasty diet aftertaste.
Diet Coke was sweetened with sugar at some point and "New Coke" was created.

Actually according to Wikipedia, Coke Light is DIET Coke (since they have Coke Light Lemon and such, that tends to make sense):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coke_Light
Diet Coke or Coke Light is a sugar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar)-free soft drink (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_drink) produced and distributed by The Coca-Cola Company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coca-Cola_Company). It was introduced in the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) in July 1982 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982), and was the first new brand since 1886 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1886) to use the Coca-Cola trademark. The product quickly overtook Tab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tab_%28soft_drink%29) in sales. In most non-English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language)-speaking markets it is called Coca-Cola light or Coke light.

Save your $1.25/bottle unless you like sickly-sweet drinks. As I said in another thread, to me it tastes like a super-sweet caramel creme type drink. I took one or two sips and was done.

They had Coke Light before Coke Zero (in China) at least and I'm pretty sure they're different. I don't think Coke Light exactly equals Diet Coke either though. IMO, the Coke Light I had in China tastes much better than either Diet Coke or Coke Zero in the US.

DOLA, Actually from the wikipedia article you linked:
In other countries, where cyclamates were not banned, as they were in the U.S. and the United Kingdom in 1970, Diet Coke or Coca-Cola Light may be sweetened with a blend containing cyclamates, aspartame, and acesulfame potassium. Fans of the drink often express a strong preference for the continental European formula over the British-American version. A version of this is now being sold in the United States as Coca-Cola Zero.
I guess Coke Light is closer to Coke Zero than it is Diet Coke. I still think Coke Light tastes much better than Coke Zero though... Coke Zero has something in it that reminds me a bit of Tab.

According to Answers.com:

Coca-Cola Light
Contrary to popular belief, Coca-Cola Zero is not a new formulation in the US. The same blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium along with the Coca-Cola Classic formula has been available for quite some time in many European countries which were never exposed to New Coke. Commonly called Coca-Cola Light or Coke Light in Europe, the Coca-Cola Zero US formula is identical to that used in foreign countries. The formula used in Australia is the same sweetner system as the Australian Diet Coke with flavour modification.

According to dietcoke.com:
The sweetener blend used for Coke Light is formulated for each country based on consumer preference.
So it's probably slightly different in each country. The basic formula of Light is the same as Zero though.
ISiddiqui

How exactly can the 'basic formula' be the same when it is reformulated for each country based on 'consumer preference'?! I'd imagine the sweetener blend is integral to a 'formula'. Therefore, if Coke Zero's sweetener blend is different from any other country, it ain't the same formula as Coke Light.

They change the sweetener balance. Diet Coke in cans in the US has aspartame while Diet Coke in fountain dispensers doesn't, but they still have the same basic formula.

They change the sweetener balance. Diet Coke in cans in the US has aspartame while Diet Coke in fountain dispensers doesn't, but they still have the same basic formula.
See, I don't see how you can seperate the sweetener balance from the 'basic formula'. As pointed out in the article on wikipedia, the difference between Diet Coke and Coke Light is simply the sweetener mix. Diet Coke has aspartame while Coke Light is sweetened with a blend of cyclamide, aspertame, and Ace K (cyclamide is banned in the US, making Zero different from Light already). Also Diet Coke came out in 1982 (about 3 years before New Coke). Coke Light came out around a similar time, and aside from the different sweetener mix, I don't see Coke changing the highly successful Diet Coke (in the US) too much for foriegn consumption.
And yes, in fountains, Diet Coke is sweetened with saccarin, which is why it tastes different from what you drink in cans.
In addition Coke Light does have some calories (0.3 per 100 ml, ie, 1 calorie per can), while Coke Zero has 0 calories.

According to Beverage Digest, who would know, "Multiple Coke system executives say formula for Coke Zero is very similar to formula of Coke Light/Diet Coke in Europe".
My only point is that Diet Coke is based off of the New Coke formula, Coke Light in Europe and Coke Zero are based off of Coke Classic, with only the relative sweetners being different based on local regulations, relative local costs of materials, and local tastes.
ISiddiqui

You have it backwards. New Coke was BASED off Diet Coke (it's Diet Coke, but with sugar or HFCS). And from my taste, Coke Light did not seem to be based off Coca Classic (yes, I tried a Coke Classic in Istanbul, and recognized it as a Coke product, even if it tasted a slight bit different; not so for Coke Light). And apparently from what is said from many others, Coke Light was Diet Coke... with different sweeteners (such as those banned in the US), one of which Ace K was recently legalized for use by the FDA.

Ok, finally tried some Coke Blak last night. The taste was ok, but from a long time Coke drinker who has recently come to like Coke Zero, the taste was a bit sweet. Plus, the 8oz size is so defeating. It's like, what is the purpose?
I don't know about your Coke Zero and our Coca-Cola Light but there is a big difference betwen your standard Coke and the one sold in Spain. I tasted the USA standard Coke 2 years ago when i visited Miami and the USA coke is way sweeter than Spanish one. I have read later that they change a bit the formula for every country to match their customer's likings.
I also noticed that in most of Miami restaurants the coke is not bottled or served from the can but from the bar faucet. In Spain only McDonnalds serves the Coke that way and is not liked by most of Spanish as it tastes like coke with water, we prefer the bottled one.
What we miss a lot is the lots of flavours you have there. In Spain we have only Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola light, Coca-Cola light with lemon and Coca-Cola without caffeine. The Cherry Coke was sold for like 6 months but retired from the market as nobody liked it.
I used to drink always Coca-Cola light but it tastes too fake to me so i started to drink Pepsi Light and i like it more, the sugar tastes more natural than the one in the Coca-Cola light.
