We will release a fully updated version of one of our football games this year, though it will be a few months before a final decision is made as to which one.

TCY was released 6 years ago. Jim has said that he believes it was a mistake to announce the game too early, for many reasons. If you need examples, look no futher than .400 software's first releases.

Back to the orginal point, however. It's been 6 years since he's announced a game prior to it being in final beta testing, at what point do you just accept it as fact that it's not going to change now? He's had plenty of time to mull over his decision, I'm pretty sure bitching about it now isn't going to do the trick.

Of course NYURDRMS wasn't trolling. Look at my response carefully, it was directed to him. I was saying no news was available and not to listen to trolls posting false rumors about the company.

I disagree with Anthony. But we've already been there and I've long since learned there's no point trying to discuss things rationally with Anthony. He would run his gaming company differently. He's adamant about it. That's fine.

I will remove the house thread. It's clear it's just annoying people. I intended it as a "look, this is something cool I'm doing that was made possible because of you, the customers."

The land search, the design of just about everything in it, the endless research about construction, etc, is something I've worked on for two years now - that and the kid, who was born in 2003, were more my focus after FOF 2004. The house is very unusual, and is truly a dream house. The kid is kind of obnoxious, but that's a new experience, too.

It has been 2 1/2 years, not 4, since my last product release. Before that, I had released products in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 - six in six years, and that does not count FOF 2002, which was EA's rather silly roster update that didn't even work right.

I worked insanely hard for six years, and then I took two off, though I did release free updates of each game during that period which were far, far more than simple roster changes.

I'm back full time now, have been for a few months. You'll just have to take my word for it.

That's kind of the point as well. What is there to discuss, other than a game is going to be released? All we know at this point is that it will be a follow up to one of the football games. And we've got threads dealing with speculation on those out there already, so I wouldn't call it a sacred cow.

Let me chime in with my two cents.

Contrary to beliefs, I really enjoy the FOF series, except for 2001. I think the games are VERY strong. However, never been a fan of TCY, sorry.

The problem that I see is that whenever I want game information about EVERY OTHER GAME, I can come here. However I can usually never find any information about an FOF game. Whenever it is asked, the company line is "Jim will release info when it is time, AND DON'T QUESTION IT!!!" And that usually results in a series of threads that call people "trolls", "fanboys", "infidels", ect.

Also, there seem to be more threads on girls, personals, death, divorce, so on and so forth. I just find that different. I guess that's why I have only posted 198 times in almost 6 years.

Finally, i do enjoy the "spirited" posts from the holier than thou, self important, sh*t d*cks. Just remember, you are banging your chest on a video game chat board.

Seriously, just speaking for myself, I am just waiting for a good game. Where the bugs and issues are few. With FOF, I get that. Jim G, you do good work, very good work. I would just like to see more of it.

People have questioned the policy repeatedly, and if you search the forums here, you'll find that I'm fine with it, and I've explained it. People get upset about it, I can't control that.

Some, like Anthony, refuse to accept the explanation because they believe there's some nefarious reasoning behind it, like I've suddenly forgotten how to code and am hoping no one notices.

So there's occasional ranting about my policy here, and that upsets people who have been through this a dozen times now and don't like it. They know that I'm not going to change the policy, and it's always the same people with the same rants trying to stir things up.

Fanboy here. I am really looking forward to the next version of FOF. After enjoying the hell out of multiplayer for the last few years, I am really looking forward to the changes that Jim implements after experiencing the fun of MP firsthand. This outlook makes me, unfortunately, highly susceptible to rumor and speculation. That's why I like reading the FOF threads (not the Front Office Curling jokes - those make me want to kill a drifter). In all honesty though - even if Jim *did* retire - I would be perfectly happy playing FOF MP in perpetuity...

My 2 cents:

Don't come out with a new game in the next couple of months. We just moved and I bought NFL Head Coach. Hollywood Mogul looks as if it's coming out within the next month as well as NCAA 2007. Of course, Madden will be coming out in August and the PS3 will be here this Fall. My wife will kill me if I buy a new FOF.

Hey Guys,

Original poster here. Sorry to have started this long thread. And I know the company line, but had to ask anyway. As you can see from my original date, I have been around since even before this board and even remember the board before this. I have purchased every game Jim has made.

I don't usually post, but do lurk to see when something new is coming out.

The reason for my post is I was hoping to at least just get a taste of what is to come. I apprieciate the policy, but I really don't have time to check this board every day and I certainly don't want to miss the next release, so I was just hoping for a bit of a heads up that is all.

As one of the other posters mentioned not much on this BB is FOF anymore, so it is very hard to sort through all the OT stuff to find any info.

Keep working hard Jim, I will buy whatever you make, just please give me a little heads up of its release when you can.

It is probably pretty safe to say any new news would be stickied at the top for a while after it came down.

One comment. The company line runs as follows (and it's a cut-and-paste):

"Thanks for your interest. We will update our web site as soon as news about new products is available."

People have questioned the policy repeatedly, and if you search the forums here, you'll find that I'm fine with it, and I've explained it. People get upset about it, I can't control that.

Some, like Anthony, refuse to accept the explanation because they believe there's some nefarious reasoning behind it, like I've suddenly forgotten how to code and am hoping no one notices.

So there's occasional ranting about my policy here, and that upsets people who have been through this a dozen times now and don't like it. They know that I'm not going to change the policy, and it's always the same people with the same rants trying to stir things up.

NYURDRMS has my sentiments exactly. As a long time member my visits are becoming short and far between. Knowing small details goes a long way with me. I don't need to know everything about every planned feature, but it would be nice to get a small taste of what is to come and possible when. Letting Jim know that he has a customer base awaiting his next release is positive. While some get pissed when people ask questions about future releases, the repeated questions may just encourage Jim to revise his policy slightly and to put a little more info out. Maybe so, maybe not. I for one have loved text sims forever and in still played 3-in-1 Football until I couldn't get it to work on XP. That company put out information regarding a Windows version that never came about so I can see Jims concerns about releasing information that may not come true. But at the same time, he stands to lose loyal repeat customers as they have no idea when to check back to see when or if a new game was released. This board has deviated so far from FOF that I simple come here to get a good laugh in every once and while. Sadly, FOF is not even in my tought process coming hear now. I can easily see me missing Jim's next version as I just to have the time or memory to go look for it each week/month.

With that said, Jim I respect your decision but encourage you to give your customers just a little more to look forward to. One lost repeat customer can result in many lost new customers. I can't remember how I found out about the first FOF, but I know for sure I passed my wonderful finding on to many of my friends and coworkers who in turn did the same regarding FOF.

As a longtime buyer, player and addicted admirer of Jim's games, I would just like to muddy the water a little bit more:

1. It is his company and he can run it as he wishes.

2. It's natural that the hardcore FOF folks are eager for news of the next game.

3. This board has really gone in some unexpected (to me, anyway) directions, with people whining about their jobs (I always thought Real Life didn't matter - silly me), mooning over starlets, and discussing online poker.

4. As you would imagine, any nerd/geek community, including this one, has a fair share of pedantic, quarrelsome, belligerant, insecure, arguement-mongers.
