Has it even been established that this PAT bug is a frequent thing, or is it still just one guy over on OS who's seeing it "all the time"?
Exactly. ODogg over there has put huge amounts of time into the game already and he hasn't posted about seeing it at all. Until I see more than 1 poster talk about it or until I see it with my own eyes tomorrow, I'm not worried.

I think I count 4 guys who mention it. One who says it's happened a lot, two of the others mention it in the demo, and one other guy in the real version. The other guy who mentions it in the real version does only have one post at the forums. Maybe it isn't as bad as it might seem.

Well, it was copy/pasted by jbmagic. What more do you want?
Could you guys please make sure and start lots of dynasties using the uploading replays feature? It will be the only way I get to enjoy this game. I'm a Wii only guy now (and I'm not buying a watered down version of the game for my old PS2. I just refuse on principle). I demand immediate dynasties. Thanks in advance.

Someone needs to do it. I might. I remember I started on one a couple of years ago, and it was a pain in the ass to record/edit/encode/upload the video. It looks like that's a thing of the past now. :)

A couple of questions on the uploading of videos. First, are you locked in to only uploading to EA/Xbox Live? If not, is the limit of five videos applicable across all sites?

I was one of the demo guys. :) I'm not going to worry too much until we all get the game, but from the sound of it your holder gets up and changes position before the snap. If that's always true we can at least take a delay of game or something.

I would imagine that you are. But as someone said, once you upload it to EA's site, you (and everyone else) can download it as a .FLV file. What I plan on doing is uploading 5 videos per game, downloading them and then reuploading them to a site and linking them that way in my dynasty. I already tried YouTube, but they don't recognize the .FLV file format for uploads (which is weird since the videos you see while watching YouTube are .FLV)

Ah, that should work. I didn't know how EA stored the vids.
As for YouTube, most of their stuff is being re-encoded, so it won't be flash dependent. I'm pretty sure that the native FLV format can't be encoded in H.264, which is the new codec that YouTube (at the prodding of Apple) is moving to.

Actually, if you read his posts, he says there are few deep passes if you play a lot of cover 2 or 3 deep zone. He says there is more when you play bump and run or M2M. The computer passes well in the short and intermediate game which allows them to move the ball well. Shrug. Only about 22 hours til I'll be home and seeing these things for myself :)

Good. Teams don't throw 30+ yard bombs in real life nearly as many times as they have in NCAA and Madden (and not nearly as many times as a lot of people seem to think they do). In playing the demo, the AI team hasn't gone really deep on me except when they catch me single covering the WR going deep, just like in real football. That's a positive, not a negative.

I getting the game tomorrow at Circuit City after work. That $10 gift card you get is pretty cool deal with it.
Overall the game looks impressive. Some flaws but not as many like last season first impressions. The positive posts out does the negative by a wide margin so far.

Just played a great online game, as Rutgers vs Miami. Unfortunately I lost, 45-42, after getting out to a quick 21-0 lead. I just couldn't keep up with them in pass coverage, and their pass rush was too much for my OL (COMPLETELY unrealistic -- we're still getting screwed by EA :)).
Let me ask you guys something...was this Weather Channel Online Feed thing that's used to choose the weather in last year's game? Very cool.

That sounds like the superstar mode in last year's Madden. You'd think that the clock would run a little more realistically in the sim, but I guess not. I'm going to try the campus legend mode when I get back home after midnight, and I'll see how that works out.

Okay, I was playing Cal, was down 14 with just over 4 minutes left in the 4th, and threw a pick so figured that was a good time to give the supersim a shot for you.
Cal took over possession, up 28-14 with 4:13 remaining. Two rushes for short losses, a 31 yard completion, and a 5 yard rushing TD. Extra point good at 3:40.
Kick return took 12 seconds off the clock to 3:28. Dropped pass, 20 yard completion, incomplete pass, pass thrown away, 27 yard completion, incomplete, intercepted. Call takes the ball over at 2:36.
Short rushing loss, short rushing loss, defensive penalty, short rushing loss, punt (timeouts used on this drive?). Rutgers ball at 2:07.
4 yard rush (by a non-scrambling QB so that was probably with a lot of pressure), short completion, 12 yard completion, incomplete pass, dropped pass, 16 yard completion, 28 yard completion, dropped pass, 14 yard TD catch. Extra point good at 1:02. Cal 35-21.
Onside kick recovered by Cal at 0:56. 12 yard run, 6 yard run, 5 yard run, 4 yard run, 7 yard run, fumble - recovered by Rutgers at 0:09.
Incomplete pass, 2 yard QB scramble. Game over.
First glance...everything looks fine with the number of plays run. I guess you can question the constant running by Cal on the last possession, when taking a knee would have ended it sooner.

Messing around with the uploading highlights feature. Saved my first highlight during the above-mentioned Cal game. I also snapped some pics of one of my LBs separating a guy from the ball in mid-air. One thing I noticed, as I hit the main menu (oh, sabotai...you can only upload things from the main menu...not in the game) and am in my "shrine," my one video highlight is playing on the screen in the background, and my pics are being cycled on screens to the side of the video like a slideshow. Very cool.
Okay, a message for all you defenders out there...don't fuck with Kenny Britt.

San Diego State in the MWC. To me it would be the perfect place to play College Football, but they have to compete against USC, UCLA and Cal for talent and always seem to underachieve. I would think if you can build them into a power the Pac 10 could be a possibility.

I'm going to take on UK...most likely on the 2007 version, though.
As I detailed in the 2007 thread, I had a futile time trying to take Eastern Michigan to the title game. No matter how well I stacked my schedule or how bad I blew everyone out, I never made it.
Oh, and for those who are waiting a few days to buy, BB is running one of those weekend sales with the 10% coupons for Reward Zone members. So that's $5 off the game if you wait until Friday.

Sorry, MJ4H, I don't have a dynasty ready for you yet. I just kinda screwed around a bit in my first hour of play. The serious stuff doesn't start until tonight. :)
While I was messing around with the game, I played a quarter of Memphis vs. Southern Miss, and I set the weather to rain. The game seemed quite a bit choppy, to be honest. I don't know if that had anything to do with the rain effects on the screen or if it's actually a problem with my 360. I'm planning to play a lot tonight, so I'll try rain again and see how it goes. The choppiness I experienced last night wasn't enough to make me dislike the game, but I was a little disappointed.

Simmed through the season. Hart won the Heisman. About 1800 yards and 20 TD's I think.
Nobody finish undefeated. LSU, USC, Michigan, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, West Virginia won confernces.
West Virginia and Virginia Tech played in the championship game. West Virginia won the game and took the title.
Other BCS games were - USC/Michigan, LSU/Ohio St., Nebraska/Florida St.
I think I'm missing one, but those were the big matchups.
I think I'm going to have to play a game just so I can get some highlights and pictures on my mural. :)

Ya know, this isn't going to have a huge impact on the game. I think once I get used to it, I'll be ok.
But WTF EA? Of all the things to change, they change something that was never broke? It's simple, tap for a lob, hold for a bullet. . . it has never been a difficult thing to grasp.
Strange, strage, strange freakin decision.
Been playing for a few days now and I'm still not used to this. It took me awhile to have it locked into my brain that sprinting is done from the back R button, but I am still not flicking up on the stick to lob it. It's a bullet everytime. I need some sort of therapy to control this.

It turned out that my online store could actually pick up a copy of the game (Xbox version) just for me, and send it here with the FedEx 2-days shipping. Well, even without the supersim, I decided to get the 2008 version. It costed me only 40 € (I payed the US price of 39.95+shipping), and I wouldn't have played 2007 anyway. Plus, I realized I haven't actually bought a single game for my Xbox in more than a year... Yeah I know, I'm weak.

At the very least, I'm going to wait until the weekend. If I buy at BB, I'll get $5 off, which isn't a huge deal but since I am going to wait anyway, why not save a little money. However, I'm also thinking about firing up 2007 again and seeing if I can get back into that game with a new dynasty. If so, I may just stick with 2007. I didn't even get that game until Christmas last year, so I've really only played one dynasty and had a lot of fun with it. Not to mention, this was my first arcade football game in well over 15 years, so my standards are probably a lot lower than most people's. Then I could use the money I didn't spend on 2008 to buy GH 80s next week.
In fact, I might have just talked myself out of purchasing 2008. :)

I am not happy, but very not surprised, that the United State Postal Service could not deliver a package no more than two dozen miles within a single day (while UPS can get it to me from 500 miles away in a day - without "next day" or "2 day" shipping). Wonder what I have to do to make sure Amazon stops using the USPS for my orders. They always take forever to deliver something to me.

When I pre-ordered, I didn't think I'd get it on release day. I generally don't really care if I do. But I saw it was shipped from Philly, a city I can see from my house, Monday morning so I figured I would probably get it today and got my hopes up.

Apparantly impact players still never get tired on the PS2. Just played against West Virginia online; he would just do the ole run the quarterback all over the field routine. Stop and throw from 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage across his body right on target. ALL GAME! My Dline was exhausted; his QB was ready as ever the next play. Guess I'm never playing against West Virginia again.

Dola -
From reports that I've read in both Campus Legend and dynasty games, Super Sim produces a high number of snaps if the minutes are too high. People are using 5 minute quarters for CL games and that is what I plan on trying in a test career. Also, if you plan on using Super Sim quite a bit to finish games, you might want to trend towards 6 or 7 minute quarters.

Right now I think I am going to do a dynasty with Colorado State. There is some decent competition in the MWC. I also wanted to avoid being a team in California, Texas or Florida because I think it might make recruiting a tad too easy. I am going to go through and name all of the teams in the MWC, and then whenever I play a team outside of the conference I will just name them before I play them. That should get me started into a dynasty quicker.

I started a campus legend dynasty and true to form, Park High is relying on their power running game against Oak Creek in the first round of the WIAA Division 1 playoffs.
In fact the starting RB had 63 yards in the 1st quarter alone.
Only problem? I'm the QB.
I'm doing okay, hitting some missing some, but Drew Williams is clearly the star of this Panthers team.
We're up 14-0 late in the second when the old ball coach decides to give me a few touches. Incompletion, followed by a big-time sack that has us at 3rd and long.
Coach calls for a HB Draw, figuring we can fake out the defense.
I call bullshit. Williams is great, but he's not -that- great.
So I audible out into a cross pattern. The Knights' DBs are caught offguard, but recover quickly on the jump.
I see a small opening for our FB and throw it to him. He catches it and then proceeds to show off his own athletic skills by splitting the two DBs on him and racing all the way down the sideline from our 25 where he first caught the pass, down, down down and into the end zone!
82 yard pass TD reception!
We're up 21-0 at half and suddenly I'm looking like a genius for my audible call and read of the defense.

Some thoughts .. INT's are definetly high but for good reason. If you make a shitty decision it's going to get picked, as it should. Some things to avoid are falling back with the QB and throwing off balance and of course making sure you tap the button to lob it and not hit it too hard to gun it (it is very sensitive)
Campus Legend is too easy when you play in HS, which isn't much of a downer I guess. Kind of monotonous (I bumped it to Heisman and still dominated) but it's fun. When you get to your college team it's much more daunting and humbling as you have to just block for FG's and XP until your chance to get in for some plays.
The game runs smooth and I played four games without that XP glitch. I won 3 and lost 1 but all were close. I like the AI so far on AA without any sliders but I am sure I'll adjust them eventually.
I'll keep thoughts coming but so far I'm having a blast.

Tonight is all 360 for me, but tomorrow is time with my wife. I'll be glad to play anyone this weekend.
I just had a great first game on AA with only a few slight changes: Interceptions down to 35, FG power down to 40, and kickoff power down to 45 for both sides. 8 minute quarters:
Booty was 7 of 13 for 110 yards 1 TD 2 INT's. One was a stupid throw by me into coverage while being blitzed. The other was a deep ball that I hung my receiver out on. The safety drilled him and it popped off my receiver's hands into a corner's hands.
Chauncey Washington had 21 carries for 59 yards for me. The running game was tough against ND, but it was a joy. One sweep the play worked to perfection, perfect blocking by the TE and the pulling guard. Another time, the TE couldn't maintain his block and it was busted up for a loss.
My backup HB had 7 carries for 24 yards. The best part: Only 2 pancakes. One for my TE on that perfect sweep and one for my RG.
ND's #12 threw 3 picks, but was otherwise very good. He's only rated 83 overall and only has 72 awareness and all 3 picks were when I blitzed him and had him under pressure. His line: 20 of 34 (58%) for 219 yards with a TD and 3 INT's.
They also ran it quite a lot: 26 carries for 72 yards for #26.
7 catches for 79 yards to #11. They did throw it deep twice, but we defended it once and it was overthrown once.
They also had 2 players with 1 pancake each.
They missed 2 FG's, but nailed a 51 yarder. I won 28-11 in a real defensive battle. I did return 2 of the INT's for TD's, but neither of them felt cheap.
I'm going to knock INT's down 1 (changed my mind - one more game with it at 35 which is where ODogg recommended and he has played a ton of games) more notch and try playing against a better QB in Hawaii. Should be interesting to see how much worse their defense is as well.

Went 11-18 for 310 yards, 4 TDs and an INT in the first round game of the state playoffs.
The coach pulled me midway through the 3rd quarter, since we were already up 35-0.
I was awarded 4* out of 5 for my performance (probably the interception and the somewhat low completion rate kept me from a 5, particularly as the interception was an end-zone one).
Scouts in attendance:
#24 Texas A&M
Central Michigan
University of Alabama-Birmingham
Kansas
Miami (OH)
Kent State
So four Midwest schools and two Southern schools. Nice to see it's mostly regional scouts there, though I wonder why the Aggies' scout was there. Maybe to look at Williams?
It'd be nice if the guys on your team end up going elsewhere too. I'll have to check on that.
Question on the saves: Is it 5 saves total or 5 saves a game for videos? (I'm assuming photos follows the same format).

One more note on Campus Legend ..
Every team offering is kind of lame but seeing their offers for PT is nice. I like the fact most top 10 teams were no higher then 3rd string, so I jumped to Alabama as a 2nd teamer. The only teams my guy (a ***** RB) could come in and start for were BYU, Utah State and a few others.

Damn, I ran one play of my season opener, and I got an "unreadable disc" error. I'm almost positive that the problem is with the machine, though, not the disc. It seems to make some kind of grinding noise occasionally, and that's when I can pretty much tell that it's gonna freeze or give me an error. I'm considering setting the machine into a vertical position to see if that helps, but this obviously should not be happening at all.
I'll just stop for a while and play later. :(

I get this exact same problem with my 360 when playing NBA 2K7 in particular (which never leaves my 360, basically). First the machine gets noisy, then the commentary stops, and I know that I'm headed for an "unreadable disc" error in about a minute or two.
One fix I've found that works 95% of the time is that when I can tell it's coming up I pause the game and go in to replay mode, then view stats, and just generally flick through a few screens, before heading back in to the game. Switching between the disc and the data stored on the HD seems to enable it to get back in sync, but I don't know that NCAA 2K8 will give you any indication that it's about to happen.

My brother is playing it right now. He's saying that the defenses are a lot quicker. I just took the controller from him and pretty much..he's right. Defenses are coming right at you.
Challenges are in the game. The graphics are pretty much the same, with a few modest changes. It's still early yet, but the most notable thing is that it's a little easier to run and that the defenses are probably a bit TOO good related to where they ought to be.
Other than that, seems like the same NCAA with all of the good and bad that goes with it.

It's great how much more realistic the 2 minute drills are. No longer can you huddle and get a play off in 5 seconds magically.
One negative: I had a QB sneak, where the QB got turned around and ran backwards like they used to in 07.
Again, I'll say it, the running game is a thing of beauty. Against, Hawaii, we were able to push their linemen around more and my backs were able to fight for yards better. It's much more fun to run the ball than in any previous version I can remember in a long time.
I just beat Hawaii 24-14. Maybe, I'll get much better, but this game seems much more defensively oriented than previous versions. I did nail one long TD pass where Turner burnt their secondary and they were blitzing, but most of the time their blitzes were well disguised and fast. I was sacked 5 times and I fumbled on one vicious hit.
Booty was 19 of 30 for 245 yards with a TD and an INT.
I think EA made a mistake with Hawaii. Their backup QB #6 is an impact player. As a result, they kept rotating the QB's. #6 was 15 of 25 for 220 yards with 2 TD's and an INT where he just threw it into double coverage.
Colt was 9 of 15 for 92 yards with an INT. He was hit as he threw it, and he threw this horrible wobbly duck that was an easy pick for my CB. We weren't able to return either pick far which was nice.
As could be expected, Hawaii only ran it 6 times. They got 20 yards on the ground.
Chauncey ran it 25 times for 124 yards and 2 TD's.
This time, my RT did have a lot of Pancakes as he was dominating Hawaii's DE. He had 5 pancakes. My RG had 2 and my C had 1.
Hawaii had 0 pancakes.
These 2 games have been much more enjoyable than last year. I can't wait to start playing in earnest this weekend.

Simmed through the season. Hart won the Heisman. About 1800 yards and 20 TD's I think.
Nobody finish undefeated. LSU, USC, Michigan, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, West Virginia won confernces.
I just finished my first simmed season where FIVE teams went undefeated (4 major conference teams and Boise State).
Messed with Campus Legend mode last night and it seemed pretty neat. Stupid fumble with 2 mins left cost my team the chance at the HS title :(

Question...is there a way to have the AI recruit for you? (Just wondering, haven't looked yet)

Trying to follow the WRs to find open ones I find myself just holding onto the ball and getting sacked a ton, or throwing and realizing right as I throw that the guy is covered beyond belief and I just made the dumbest throw ever.

This game has that "one more game feel" but I'm about to call it a night. Just had a nailbiter controlling Arkansas vs West Virginia. I felt like WVA did a nice job of playing to their strengths using Slaton, White, and #7 to move the ball on the ground. It was tied 21-21, but using the Wildcat formation, I managed to get a 22 yard gain on a WR jet where he then threw it back to McFadden who was the QB on the play. That formation is just a blast to run with the jet sweep, fake jet sweep, PA pass, QB screen, and WR screens.
McFadden was 2 of 2 for 17 yards on two wide open passes. #11 is a bad QB, but I didn't ask him to do much and he completed 8 of 15 for 126 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT.
White was 15 of 21 for 145 yards with 1 TD 3 INT's. I'll probably knock INT's down just another notch to 30 when I next play.
McFadden had 16 carries for 72 yards.
My WR's had 5 carries for 28 yards.
Slaton had 20 carries for 102 yards and a TD. I love that the CPU can run it effectively on default AA.
#7 had 5 carries for 38 yards and a TD.
Despite being the fastest QB in the game, we contained White with the spy play and he had 7 carries for 18 yards. He also fumbled it twice on option plays where he made bad pitches.
They also used a WR jet sweep and had 6 carries for 22 yards.
McFadden was my leading receiver with 6 catches for 75 yards and a TD including a 32 yard screen play. I really like that any play can be effective. With 07, I felt a significant portion of plays were giveaway plays that never worked, but I'd call them for variety anyway. So far, I feel like every play I've called can work. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
This game the RG for Arkansas had 2 pancakes. The RT had 1. No other players had any.
Slaton had 1 for West Virgina (it was a nasty block), their FB had 1, and their RG had 1.
It's early impressions, but I'm thrilled with this game so far. I'm looking forward to playing more this weekend.
Edit: I mostly am forcing myself to stay in the pocket, but I find that sacks happen quickly. Just like real football, 3-5 seconds seems to be the max that you can hold onto the ball. Less if there is a blitz. If I run out of the pocket, I usually get sacked even quicker or I throw a bad pass on the run. The mobile QB is much less effective in this version than last year's.

So I played through all my games in high school mode. Lose in the state semi-finals to a seriously vicious Greenfield team.
Then #10 Arkansas offers me the starting job. Say what? Nice thing is that the next highest starting job was somewhere around #81, with UTEP. :D
So I accepted the Razorbacks offer and promptly get murdered my first game. In fact, my 3 interceptions and multiple sacks are the main reason why we get upset... 24-21.. by.. Troy State.
Seriously fun game. Can't wait to tackle the dynasty mode.
Just wish I could figure out what was up with the saves... or did I read somewhere that you can only save 1 game's highlights at a time on the hard drive?

I just finished my first simmed season where FIVE teams went undefeated (4 major conference teams and Boise State).
Messed with Campus Legend mode last night and it seemed pretty neat. Stupid fumble with 2 mins left cost my team the chance at the HS title :(
FK's site is crashing as is OS. The servers are probably maxed.
Question...is there a way to have the AI recruit for you? (Just wondering, haven't looked yet)
There are assists you can use. I think the way I'm going to do it is to pick 10 guys I want at the start of the year. I'll take care of their phone calls and visits and let the CPU handle the rest. It seems like a good compromise.

Played my first game last night (my wife had a friend and her kids over, so no TV for awhile yesterday). Played Arizona State at Maryland, and the Terps won, 20-10. Had a great TD pass to my HB coming out of the backfield - he got hit and spun around yet somehow maintained his footing (I think I uploaded it under "craigsca" on their site, but I haven't tried it yet). As usual, I make bad passes because I lock onto one target, but I've been lucky because sometimes the throw is caught by another receiver in the area (this has happened twice). Running has been fun - I busted a 16 yard gain up the middle and was able to gain yardage on sweeps (!). Later, the defense will knuckle down and I can't get anything.
Used 7 minute quarters but I'm going to have to up it, because combined the teams only had about 100 plays, which is about 30 plays too low. I'm going to move up to 8 min quarters first (even thought 9 will probably give me the best results - I just can't play that long for a single game). Oh, and I'm on varsity, because I'm a lame 38 year old who can't keep up with you crazy kids.
Interceptions were a bit high, so I'm going to take it down a notch. I had 3 turnovers in the first quarter (one where I intercepted the ball and then promptly coughed it up on the runback - argh), but only 4 for the game, so I don't think it's that big of an issue. The injuries were nice - I lost my cornerback for the season, but the other 2 were of the "will return later" variety.
No penalties in the game, but I don't really care. The game was fun enough as it is, and ymmv, but penalties in a video football game are like watching foul balls in a baseball game.
The main goal in the next few days is to make sure my sliders are right. Playing as Maryland, I want to be able to beat the Arizona States at home (insert checkmark here), and get spanked at Michigan (we'll see). If that's the case, I'm pretty happy with the game out of the box (with the exception of lowering the interception rate).
So in the CL mode, do you play a whole High School season? How much control do you have over the high school stuff (location, colors, etc)?

Nope, it's just the playoffs, and you only have control when your "player" is on the field. You have pretty much full control over the high school creation. They have just about every town and city available to select, and you get to name the school. The uniform colors are pretty stock, but then again, high school uniforms always are.

Played a couple games on AA with 7 minute quarters. I repeatedly demonstrated that if you throw an ill-advised pass, you are going to be punished. I must have thrown 6 or 7 ints in 2 games. I never hit a very long pass, did have a couple long runs. First game, I lost to an inferior team, second game I came back late to beat an inferior team. Hopefully I get better, or the Michigans of the world will just cream me.
I used autoname, and noticed at least two sets of duplicate last names on my team.
Overall, I am really impressed with the game. I think the unis look a little too shiny in night games, but no biggie. I think I am going to get a lot of entertainment out of this game. :)

Campus Legend mode was very fun, and was the reason i went to bed late last nite. i made myself as a RB. became a 5 star prospect. i got crappy offer to start for teams like Hawaii or North Carolina, and offers to be 2nd and 3rd string (and as low as 5th string for USC) for the good teams. i accidentally picked Miami University, cuz i thought it was the actual Miami, i'm used to the other one being called "Miami (OH)". i'll start CL over.

I just got the game today and am playing around with the Campus Legend mode. The camera angles they give you (at least for SS) is better than what it was like in last year's Superstar for Madden (PC). The one downside is the punt return. I can't see anything. The camera angle they give me for my guy on punt returns is just useless. Worse than useless, I'm completely unable to do anything on punt returns (as one of the players that blocks the punting team's gunners)
Other than that, I like it a lot so far.

I've seen a missed FG, multiple injuries, and many other great things already. I feel like a kid in a candy store and I'm not sure I'll get to bed before 2-3am tongiht.
The game looks really crisp on my Dell monitor and the only studder or "lag" I'm seeing is when they bring up a players line stat for the game, the gameplay is as smooth as silk, wow. (I have my monitor set to 1080p)
I love how the OL finally knows how to block and you can tell who's overmatched when it comes to the OL vs the DL. I've uploaded 2 videos, so hopefully I can link them soon.

Okay...someone apparently has to teach me how to use the Sprint button.
Frequently, I'll be holding the button down, or press it for the first time (like when I take a handoff) and the player will stutter momentarily. It could be a stutter by my RB as soon as he gets it, or if I'm holding the button down chasing a ball carrier, it could happen in the middle of the pursuit. The player's motion is similar to a juke. I have no idea why this is happening...I'm definitely not hitting any other buttons at the same time.
Has anyone else experienced this? I saved some highlights of this happening but I'm having trouble getting them uploaded. I'll edit when I can do it with some videos to show what I'm talking about.

I'm in complete heaven. And complete hell.
I want to:
Run a dynasty with my Buffs.
Use campus legend mode as a QB, RB, MLB and DE and maybe a S
Play online with anyone and everyone I know. (all of you. Mike, I owe you a game)
That'll only take me, what 75 hours?
I also want to:
Create every type of legend team in 2K8. I mean, every type of legend team I can find. Running teams led by Sweetness and Campbell and Sanders, passing teams with Elway or Montana or Young and Rice or Sharpe. Defensive teams with Butkis and White or Night Train and Lott. I could design a team, play a quarter, design another team, play a quarter and go all night.
That's what? 75 hours? Should I just quit my job now and be done with it?
I wait for a great football game for years and in the span of a day, I have two. And Madden isn't even here yet. Unbelievable.
And to top it off, I'm going away for two weeks in 5 days.
Thank you EA and 2K. This is the best console football season I can ever remember.

I just became Ohio State's starting running back about halfway through the season. I "earned" the start the week after the real starting RB ran for 225 yards and 4 TD's. Unrealistic, but necessary for the average user to enjoy CL? Also, the timeouts on CL are broken. The opposing team ran 3 run plays with a lead and less than a minute to go. We got the ball back with 45 seconds left and all 3 TO's intact.
I suck really bad at the actual game. 0-3 so far (0-2 online and 0-1 vs AA difficulty offline team). I need more practice. Haven't truly "played" a football game in 3 years.

I'm not talking about the simming, necessarily. I guess I was under the impression that the whole point of playing CL was that we only control our player on our team - we can't control what anyone else does, we just control our player. But that doesn't seem to be the way it works, unless I'm missing something.
Not a big deal, it just completely kills any interest I have in CL if I'm basically playing a normal game and my "character" just happens to be on the field sometimes while I'm playing.

I just played for about 2.5 hours. Started a game on All-American with Auburn at Florida. I was trailing 28-0 at the half. Guess taking three years off from video game football is too much. Seriously, how many moves can you make now? I can't even figure out the best way to position my hands on the controller to make myself have all moves available.
The Campus Legend mode is just awesome. I NEVER go for these kinds of modes but this one is just fun. Playing through the high school playoffs is neat as is signing day. I was a RB who ended up signing to be the 3rd string RB at Texas. Made myself into 2nd string by week four and saw my first action in a blowout against Rice, carrying the ball 8 times for 61 yards including a sweet option play.
Just a lot of fun...can't wait to play more tomorrow with me actually playing everything as well as checking out dynasty mode.

Finally started getting into it tonight with a BYU Dynasty. Have played three games with sliders all on default (except INT) and am very happy. Got upset by Kent State at home 24-23 my first game as they totally shut my run game down and I had 6 turnovers (4 ints on bad reads) Hightlight was the first Kickoff I have returned for a TD in two years on NCAA.
Game 2 went to ASU and upset them 35-17 in a driving rain (Monsoon Season) only 2 TO though and a much more productive running. got my first commit before this game as well as recruiting is really fun to me....You have to put thought into it but it still doesn't bog you down.
Game 3 Went to Tulsa and jumped to a 27-0 Lead, then hung on for a 34-28 win, both this and the Kent game became ESPN instant classics and my running game finally looks potent with 2 runs over 20 yards finally. Have my first recruits coming for a visit next week with Air Force in town and looking forward to seeing how the activities planning works.
I have to say EA really out did themselves so far...also playing on a PS 3 and while the graphics are not as smooth as the 360, they still look damn good and I have suffered no lag in gameplay.....The pre-release hype made it sound like the PS 3 version would just suck and thankfully there are no problems that give me any heartburn....great game.

Started up CL tonight on my 360, made myself a power running back, on my 3rd play I got a big gain, it took a snapshot of my run, put it on the screen, and the game froze. Whee.
Yeah, the game froze on me twice last night (one totally froze the system). Both times it was related to doing snapshots and the like. It also froze on my buddy's system (we were chatting and he just dropped). Hopefully this doesn't continually occur, as it would suck a lot. Mine froze in CL mode after seeing my first action ever and converting a 3rd down which led to the winning score. Very sad...

Do you have to watch the game if you aren't playing in CL mode? I find it boring if I'm not playing so does it sim the game and cut in if you play?
You can sim or watch the plays.

Anyone else having problems with trying to save videos or pictures on the 360 version? I could only get one game's highlights to save and a buddy of mine said he can't get anything to save, period.

I had the game give me an error when I tried saving videos, but I turned my 360 off and back on and it saved fine after that.

My campus Legend was a RB from Alabama. Won the state championship and was a 5 star recruit. I signed with Alabama. Week 1 we played a D2 school and won 100-7 (8 min quarters). I need to lower the quarters down to 7 for this mode but that's another story (hardly no time ever comes off the play clock).
I was a 2nd stringer for this game and got into the game when the starter went down in the 1st quarter (out for 3 weeks). I ended up with 30 carries for 380 yards and 7 TDs. I set school rushing and scoring records as a true freshman in my first ever game.
2nd game of the year, at Vandy, we won and I had 117 rushing and 150 receiving with 2 scores through the air (one 59 yarder).
After week 1 I was already named the starting RB based on my practice performance.
Looking forward to the PS3 rosters!
I had to take it down to 5 minute quarters in CL mode to get realistic results.
I'm still not getting very many penalties other than clipping and that's with everything maxed. I also am seeing lots of interceptions, but I think that's me playing QB and not necessarily the game. :D The interceptions against opposing QBs haven't been too bad.

Yeah, that was my only real complaint about the game. However, the gameplay easily makes up for that weakness.

I've seen the same problem in CL when I'm the running back. Maybe it's just Penn State's QB, but I've seen him throw four to five interceptions per game. There's nothing more maddening than when the coach keeps calling freaking pass plays when I'm dominating my man/
I've been playing on AA mode and have CPU interceptions set to zero and knockdowns set to 100. I think the next move is to knock down AI defensive awareness down a bit. Hopefully that will turn down the interceptions.

I haven't played that many games, yet. However, when I was beating the CPU by 7 with 35 seconds left, it threw intermediate to deep passes including a Hail Mary from the 50 with 2 seconds left.

I remember somebody doing that last year and it going for a touchdown. Can't remember the team though.

I've had a couple games so far come down to the final play and both times the AI called a long pass or hail mary.

Also meant to mention, I've seen the AI go into a prevent defense when I had the ball on my own 20 and had only 20 seconds left to score. I don't remember the AI doing that last year and it made it very difficult to get any big chunks of yard.

Even on the 2007 version? I don't know what I'm doing, I just started it up and once I got to an actual game, it was just like playing in dynasty mode - I controlled everyone.

Controlling one player appears to be only in the next gen Campus Legend mode from impressions I've been reading. It seems current gen didn't do much to update that mode from previous years.

I've seen that too.
While the AI isn't the greatest in the world, so far I haven't seen anything that makes me crazy. I have seen a couple cool things though. My team has a stud HB and the coach runs the ball a lot. When he went down with an injury in the first half of the last game, the backup came in and was a noticeable downgrade. We began throwing the ball a LOT more than normal. It was also cool to see the defense adjust to our adjustment. They had been stacking a lot of men on the scrimmage, but by the third quarter they were playing off the line a lot more.

In dynasty mode, is there a way on offense to just call plays and not have to control the QB on passing plays? On the legacy Xbox, you'd simply hike the ball and if you didn't do anything, the CPU would take over. On the 360, the QB will automatically drop back or rollout, but never throws a pass.

Wow. I didn't think that would happen. I know the RBs and Defense will play automatically. I just assumed that the QB would as well.

I've seen that, too. Also, one other huge improvement: If you are running it well and they are stacking the line. If you audible out of a run into a pass play from the same formation, the defense doesn't magically re-align to anticipate a pass. That is a huge improvement from previous years.

No, there is no coach mode in the next gen versions. The QB will just stand there after doing an auto drop back. :( The auto drop back is very helpful to my passing game, at least.

That's the first thing I've heard that really bothers me. After playing my CL career, I was going to start up a dynasty game as coach only. :(

Figured it made more sense to quote as opposed to edit, with it being a page or so later.
Couldn't figure out how to link to individual videos, but if you go here http://www.easportsworld.com/#video-990/HOME/565 you'll see two highlights from my RU-VT game where I experienced the problem. Unfortunately my video with my RB stuttering couldn't get uploaded. Anyway, in the first highlight, I was controlling Kevin Malast, LB #34, and pressing sprint well before the stuttering occurred (btw, don't ask me how I missed that sack). In the 2nd video, Kenny Britt was running down the sideline and then veered out of bounds while I was pressing the sprint button, again pressing it before it happened. The randomness is what I can't figure out.

Logan, that stutter move makes it look like you're using the right thumbstick or something. Are you sure you're not touching the thumbstick at all while you try to sprint?

Ah, gotta love it. Go to Michigan as their #3 guy, get my first carry in scrub time at the end of the first game of the season. First carry, fantastic as it's a 2 yard TD run. Second run, minus 1 yard along with a lost fumble.
4 weeks later I finally work my way up to the 2nd string, starter goes down in the second quarter and I get to crack the 100 yard mark and get to forget about that first game. Fantastic game thus far, kept me up way too late last night.

Unless I'm somehow doing it subconsciously. Usually my finger is hovering over the A button (from being used to pressing that for speed...which has hurt me at times when I accidentally stiff arm and end up fumbling), so I don't think that's the case either.
If no one else is seeing it, I'll chalk it up to it being something on my end. Although I talked to a buddy who has said it happened to him once on defense, but not on offense.
Maybe I'll set up a video camera fixed on my hands to see what the hell is going on :).

I wonder if there is some sort of calibration problem with your controller. When I played NCAA 2006, I think it was, on the XBox, sometimes my defender would go into the "hit stick" animation when I didn't touch the analog stick. Usually moving the right analog stick in a circular motion a few times fixed it (I guess it "recentered" it somehow).
It was strange because it would only happen with NCAA, not any other game, but it was apparently my controller.

I constantly have a problem with 2007 when I first fire up the game - whatever player I am usually drifts to the right until I either shake him out of it, pause/resume multiple times to stop it, or it ends on its own. Happens with either controller, only when I go directly into playing a game when I first start the PS2 up, and doesn't happen with any other games.

ditto, 5th string at Miami. my RB still hasn't seen action in the 2 games i played, so i've simmed the last 3 games and with me being 30 something points away from being 4th string i'll go back to playing the actual games to see if the coach will let me block on special teams or something. i'm not complaining about the lack of PT, but i just think if a guy is gonna be on a team he should at least make special teams appearances. i guess this is just realism, so right now i'm just enjoying "the early years" and i'll wait for my chance to be the starter. coming from such humble beginnings will make the later glory years all the more special. when my guy wins the Heisman i'll look back and say "i remember when i couldn't even get on the field as a 5th stringer".

btw, i'm not likely to keep this game when Madden comes out. i don't need two games based on the same sport. might be cool to use NCAA to create the rookies for my Madden dynasty, but traditionally i've always used NCAA to get my football gaming early and would simply trade it in to get Madden at a discount. i'm only doing CL but it's still the most fun i've had in video game football in many years. very well done and i still haven't even played an actual game yet, i've just been doing CL.

This is why I always buy the NCAA game used a couple of weeks after Madden comes out. I have a few weeks to figure out if the NCAA game is any good and I can get it at the cheaper price.
I was actually a little worried that it was too easy to become the starter but it doesn't sound like that's the case. In my game, I went to Arkansas as the 2nd string QB and after the very first practice I was named the starter and haven't looked back.

See - that is exactly what I would probably do when Madden comes out. I know I wouldn't play both but Gamespot will probably give a $20 credit towards when Madden come out. So I guess I have to realize is NCAA really worth $40 to play with for a month?
