View Full Version : Rosie O'Donnell Goes Insane
I suppose some of you guys have heard about Rosie now believing 9/11 was an inside job (though she keeps dancing around admitting it outright on the view while still parroting the long-debunked conspiracy sites talking points).
She said on the air the other day that it was the first time in history fire has ever melted steel (the entire field of metallurgy called and would like to have a word with you, Roe) and that it was physically impossible. She's off the deep end and no one on The View is really smart enough to counter her stupidity.
Now, I don't watch The View, but of course, millions do. I'm a bit worried about the effect her insane rants are going to have on a lot of people. We already know there are people out there gullible enough to fall for this nonsense, and Rosie spewing one side unopposed like this is worrisome.
I think (and hope) that Rosie isn't going to be on that show much longer and her career is probably going to be in tatters after this silliness. What do you think?

I think that within another year or so, [u]if[/i] she decides she wants to stay, it'll be Rosie's show. Walters has pretty much given up on any sort of control, Behar is just happy to have someone drawing enough viewers to keep her career afloat, Hasselbeck is about 10-1 to snap & put a bullet in O'Donnell.
She's nuttier than a ten pound fruitcake (not to mention quite a bit heavier) but there's no shortage of people that appeals to, so it'll keep playing.

I'm pretty dumbfounded by the fact that she has a career at all. If being unattractive and having no talent hasn't held her back, I'm not sure if being an insane idiot will have any effect.
I really don't think ABC will stand for her rants. She even sort of implicitly accused ABC of brainwashing the country on the air. I just think they will have had (quiz: what tense is that) enough of her pretty soon, and she will suddenly decide that the show isn't for her anymore. Maybe, I'm wrong, but I hope not.

Well Elizabeth Hasselbeck was calling out Rosie on the youtube clip I saw. So good for her... though a shame the rest of them didn't say a word. Maybe they are afraid of Rosie?

I would love for Elizabeth to shut that blimp up, but all she cares about is celebrity gossip, fashion and reality shows. She would never actually do the research (all 10 minutes of it) that would be required to prove everything Rosie says wrong...not that it would shut her up....

I always got the impression that she became famous because she was friends with famous people (like Madonna, for one). It's a common story in show business, it seems. Famous people try and make their friends famous, and I think that's what happened here. Now they she actually got on TV and was allowed to spout off nonsense that idiot housewives eat up, the TV business people found out that she means ratings, and now we're stuck.

Not in the least.
Roughly half the country is ready to say "you go girl", even it she's wrong she's still sticking it to the enemy. Where's the backlash going to come from? Remember, a fair percentage of Rush Limbaugh listeners hate his guts too, but they listen. Same thing with Rosie, even those who don't agree are watching to some extent, if only in hopes that Hasselbeck will finally lose it & kill the bitch.
And in the case of View, it's like a double bonus. Advertisers were loyal to the show even when the ratings when sliding towards being crap, now that they're up, the rates are going to climb & demand is getting stronger.
It's no more career suicide for her than it has been for Bill Maher, Al Franken, Keith Olberman, or any of the other wingnuts banging the same sort of drum.

The way I remember it going down on here was one or two people bought the loose change nonsense for a bit until people here yelled at them for awhile and they claimed they only supported the movie as entertainment or something. Hey, she just left a comment!
127. RE: Rosie O'Donnell 9/11 Conspiracy Comments: Popular Mechanics Responds
POPULAR MECHANICS GOT IT WRONG. According to official government reports cited in the article WTC 7 substained substantial damage on it's southern side. The debris from WTC 1 fell at speeds of an volcanic eruption. Why then did WTC 7 fall straight down? Debris fell on one side. Fires started on one side. Building falls straight down. Doesn't make sense. Go play Jinga.
Of course, what does the next-to-final paragraph say?
That issue aside, there’s a clear-cut engineering explanation for why the building fell the way it did. Trusses on the fifth and seventh floors of the building were designed to transfer loads from one set of columns to another; with the south face heavily damaged, the other columns were likely overtaxed. In engineering terms, the “progressive collapse” began on the eastern side, when weakened columns failed from the damage and fire. The entire building fell in on itself as the slumping east side dragged down the west side in a diagonal pattern.
Isn't it great that someone can dismiss thorough, scientific explanations of a buildings collapse with "go play jinga [sic]" and call people that disagree with them "beyond ignorant" (what exactly is 'beyond ignorant?" Knowledgeable?) and then gets to shout this bile on national television? In the process accussing the government of this country of murdering thousands of its own citizens and disrespecting the victims and families of the victims of one of the worst tragedies in the history of the country?
I could spit nails this makes me so angry.

saw this on another message board (xmfan.com):
"Rosie Implies Captured Brits Are A Contrived 'Gulf of Tonkin' For War With Iran
Posted by Justin McCarthy on March 26, 2007 - 13:19.
On the March 26 edition of "The View," co-host Rosie O’Donnell discussed the Iranian seizure of British sailors. Rosie again gave out false information on national television and implied that this may be a hoax so to provide the president with an excuse to go to war.
"But interesting with the British sailors, there were 15 British sailors and Marines who apparently went into Iranian waters and they were seized by the Iranians. And I have one thing to say: Gulf of Tonkin, Google it. Okay."
Rosie may have missed the news that not only do the United States and Britain insist they were not in Iranian waters, but Iraq and France do as well. Veteran journalist Barbara Walters did not bother to correct Rosie.
For those of you not well versed on the Vietnam War, the Gulf of Tonkin incident was an allegation of North Vietnamese aggression on U.S. warships that led the United States into a long bloody conflict with North Vietnam. It was later revealed that the President Lyndon B. Johnson was unsure the event occurred. Was Rosie suggesting that captured British sailors is nothing more than a hoax to provoke a war with Iran? After all, Rosie now believes the September 11 attacks were orchestrated by the U.S. government. The transcript is below.
Rosie O’DONNELL: But interesting with the British sailors, there were 15 British sailors and Marines who apparently went into Iranian waters and they were seized by the Iranians. And I have one thing to say: Gulf of Tonkin, Google it. Okay.
JOY BEHAR: Some other time. Some other time.
O’DONNELL: Well, you know...
BARBARA WALTERS: It could be a decision making time. It's a very difficult situation. It's at the United Nations. It’s being examined now. Should there be sanctions? Militarily, we certainly don't seem to be in the position to do something militarily. But it is a decision making time.
O’DONNELL: Yes, but it’s very interesting too that, you know, these guys, they went into the water by mistake right at a time when British and American, you know, they're two, they’re pretty much our biggest ally and we're considering whether or not we should go into war with Iran.
BEHAR: But the U.N. was about to sanction them, also have an embargo against Iran. And the, and the timing [unintelligible] so they distracted the whole world with this.
ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Right and they may be about to expel the inspectors right now, too, which could be considered [unintelligible]
O’DONNELL: Right or it could be just the Gulf of Tonkin, which you should all Google.

The lobbying group Focus on the Family said it was preparing to contact advertisers on "The View" as part of a campaign against O'Donnell. The group is angry at O'Donnell for comments they feel were insulting to Catholics."
Well duh, I'm sure catholics are not comfortable with a woman hitting on Madonna.

Who knew we were living in the 'post-Don Imus Era', this could be the single most important era in the history of the world.
The good news is Rosie will be off the View in a month, the bad news is Rosie will be off the View in a month. If you thought she was crazy before, she should really hit some notes as she tries to grasp at straws for publicity in her final days.

Well, it's not like I'm going to start watching the View now anyways, so it doesnt matter much to me. If anything, she'll get another huge daytime syndicated gig out of this, and will be able to continue to spread her lies.

See, Rosie only plays for the home team and if you don't have the home team equipment so to speak, she isn't gong to let you play. The only way you can play in that case is by force, which I wouldn't do.

Hmm, this from a guy who talks about having sex with someone when he doesn't know the sexual orientation of. An orientation which is about as hidden as Janet Jackson's breast at a superbowl.

Well, I don't watch the show.
Well, as I have no idea who the woman is it's understandable since this thread wasn't about her nor was there really any tie in here but really, the whole "I have licensing issues so I have to make a fake name thing" is a pet peeve of mine.
Who still finds that funny after the age of 10? It's meant to be clever but it pretty much always looks like it might be clever to a 6 year old. SHURG.
So, yeah I missed the fact that he was trying to be mad clever about someone I have never heard of on a show I don't watch in a thread about someone I do know of, that people often make disparaging remarks about her looks and his fake name happened to be seemingly looks related. Silly me.

But probably not until 2008, by which time her momentum will likely have slowed.
I think that bit of timing might be my favorite thing about this story, hardly any way in hell it's accidental that the inability to reach an agreement wasn't absolutely clear until it was too late for her to get something ready for Fall '07.
It doesn't redeem ABC for putting her on the air, but at least it's something.

Well, when you attempt to chastise someone when you don't know what they're talking about, it makes you look bad. Now you know.

It's not as funny when you realize I've never heard of the woman in question so I really had no reason to think of anyone except Hasselhoff. That's the only thing that makes sense since it was obviously a play on a names and the only name that worked was Hasselhoff.
It is my fault that I don't know the secondary characters that are not directly related to the issue at hand before I posted. I really should have so I can more quickly translate the stunningly clever juvenile twists on names that are so trendy these days.
So, I can certainly see the humor since the same fake name can make you think , I'd call it incidental humor though under the circumstances. :D

Is this a Rosie O'Donnell quote, because this thread is only about her and any attempt to reference someone other than her is just going to result in a lot of confusion and wasted posts. And in that case, nobody wins.

I think they should keep Rosie and Joy Behar, but replace Hasseldink and Walters with Judy Tenuda and Rita Rudner. Then, they could rename the show "The Queens of teh Suck."

I am going to go out on a limb here and predict that this little Vivi will grow up to be a militant, man-hating feminist.
I have no idea if it's true or not, but I was just watching some show about Kathy Griffin (and, yes, I was day dreaming about Pumpy throughout it--also, I wasn't watching it purposefully, it was just left on that channel and I neglected to do anything about it).
Kathy appeared on The View and in the middle of the show, Rosie apparently offered to pay for the entire audience to go on some cruise. The show made it sound like this was spontaneous (unplanned, Kathy said this much outright) and funded by Rosie alone (implied in the previous). As much as she pisses me off for spreading the kind of nonsense she spreads, I feel it is only fair to point out that this is an insanely nice gesture.
All of this depends on the accuracy of the portrayal of course, but I still felt it worth a mention.
