My Manchester Silver Bullets just reached the 40 win mark!! We're proving to be strong at home with a 21=4 mark. But not as good on the road with a 19-13 record. Our team avg is .270 and an ERA in the mid 3's.

I'm afraid of your team, if things stay the way they are we're going to have to start calling you George Steinbrenner.

Is there anything involved in financials aside from payroll? I read where a popular player brings in more attendance. I don't see anywhere that it translates to more dollars for the team, however. The scouting & development is all based on how much you don't spend, under the cap. So is attendance & popularity pretty much just fluff then?

I believe the official rules are that a relief pitcher is eligible for a save if he pitches 3 full innings and finishes the gameregardless of the score.

The draft was posted 40 games, 5 real days into the season.

The draft takes place 5 real days, or 40 games, after the draft is posted.

In short, we draft when game 80 or 81 rolls around. A mid-season June draft.

Draft is done. I'm not sure how I got the guy I did at #1, I was trying to set it up so I would get a youngin, none of this 24 year old middle of the road talent BS.

BreizhManu
03-16-2003, 08:19 PM
Since I was drafting last, I don't even know how were ranked the ones I drafted...

I like my 2nd and 3rd rounders (even if I don't really need a defensive SS) but don't know if my 1st rounder is going to do anything good (superb throwing power but that's all)

damnMikeBrown
03-16-2003, 10:25 PM
I was picking 2nd to last. I'm actually rather pleased. I got my 10th ranked player (23rd), 20th ranked player (47th), and my 58th ranked player (71st).

I set up the rankings before I read in the rules, where, if you start a player at a position for 80 games, he switches to that position the next season. Still, I'm very happy with the talent I got. Now, if I'd only known that you couldn't adjust your spending priorities during the season . . .

Coffee Warlord
03-17-2003, 12:09 AM
I bet my #1 overall pick was a bit of a surprise. Simple. I wanted a solid starter to come into my rotation immediatly for the 2nd half. I had a black hole at the #4 slot in my rotation, so there ya go. We'll see how he performs.

My other picks should be decent players in a season or two. The CF I got may see time next season, considering he's the only true leadoff hitter we have, and already rated high at plate discipline. The 3rd round pitcher...give it a few seasons, and he'll be a #4-#5 starter.

After 160 regular season games, the top two teams in each division play in a 7-game series to determine the division finalists. Then, the winners play in another 7-game series in the league finals. The winners then go on to the 7-game World Series. After the World Series, five game days (about 2 1/2 calendar days) proceed, in which players will announce retirement and end-of-season awards (MVP, Cy Young, all-stars) will be announced.

So you only have to finish in the top 2 of your division (since home factor doesn't seem to be a determinant factor, it doesn't really matter if you finish 1st or 2nd), already qualified :

Div 1 :

El Paso Vatos

Div 2 :

Iowa City Kickerassers
Victorville Bullets

Div 3 :

Div 4 :

Brittany Celtics

The Wolverines (Div1), Mullets (Div3) and Avengers (Div4) are probable

Iowa City 2-1
Victorville 1-2
Maryland 7-2
South Boston 6-3 (lost the first one 3-0)
Palm Desert 6-8

So I have a good record against most teams except Victorville and Palm Desert which I'm facing in the first round...

I've got the top closer in the entire league, who saved 40 and blew only 3 the entire year...

And we blow a save in in the playoffs to go down 2-0. Grrr. Come on down to Palm Desert and try that, ya jerk. :)

BreizhManu

We will NOT get swept. I think you've got our number, but we're gonna take 1 game offa ya!

And by the by, look at our respective payrolls. Damn big market teams! We want parity in the CSFBL, dammit! ;)

Wyandote is taken care, four games to two. Time to start preparing for Pilot and his Bullets...

PilotMan
04-01-2003, 03:49 PM
Jeeber, this should be the classic hitting vs pitching matchup. You play in the smallest park and I play in the biggest. Luckily for me I have home field.

El Paso Vatos BA .272 OBP .348 SLG .443 HR's 205
Victorville BA .261 OBP .324 SLG .395 HR's 116

El Paso Vatos 3.70 ERA
Victorville 3.00 ERA

El Paso had a 30 gm winning middle reliever, and my starters had more complete games (almost more shutouts) than El Paso had quality starts.

Looks like a toss up to me.

JeeberD
04-01-2003, 03:57 PM
Well, you handled me pretty well during the regular season. Hopefully my guys will want to exact some revenge in the playoffs...

BreizhManu
04-01-2003, 04:11 PM
Maryland Mullets BA .286 OBP .356 SLG .456 HR's 171
Brittany Celtics BA .297 OBP .391 SLG .548 HR's 303

Mullets ERA 4.18
Celtics ERA 4.57

this is not a pitching vs hitting matchup, mostly a hitting vs hitting matchup

PilotMan
04-01-2003, 04:13 PM
Yeah, I'd start running my mouth and then you would sweep me, and then I'd know I was just a paper champion.

tucker342
04-01-2003, 11:12 PM
Next season, I'm not going to run my mouth as much....

Brittany hit 303 homeruns!?!?!?! Wow that's alot!

BreizhManu
04-02-2003, 02:35 AM
yeah, we proved to be a great hitting team in the first game against the Mullets : 15 hits, 10 runs, 6 doubles, 4 homeruns

and a great performance by Kenneth Roads : 4-4, 2 R, 3 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB

BreizhManu
04-02-2003, 07:26 AM
It was not supposed to be a pitching vs hitting matchup but Nicholas Alvarez records a shutout in game 2 and David Johnson scores the only run of the game with a HR.

The Celtics now leads 2-0

JeeberD
04-02-2003, 12:01 PM
Vatos and Bullets tied at one game apiece...

Come on Vatos, you can do it!!!

PilotMan
04-02-2003, 03:23 PM
Hey Jeeber, I looked at the games we played, in all 3 games that you beat me (other than the playoffs0 my 5th starter had pitched.

Sad to say he will not pitch in the postseason. Although maybe he would have held the lead better in gm 1. :(

You have home field now, lets see what you can do with it.

JeeberD
04-03-2003, 02:01 AM
Still tied up at two games apiece. This could go down to the wire...

Of course, whoever wins will probably get their asses kicked by Brittany, they haven't lost a post-season game yet!

BreizhManu
04-03-2003, 04:27 AM
Yep, another sweep :) I'm waiting for you guys :D

PilotMan

Celtics just havn't played anyone yet. Its obvious that the best teams are in division 2.

Another strong pitching game and we have a 3-2 lead going home with the ace to start. Wait did I say ace. Oh yea.....I have 4 of those.

Team Postseason ERA 2.15

I am now removing my jaw from the floor and cleaning up the slobber from my keyboard.

Having some time to kill I was reading the Message Boards. I ran across this thread titled ---Brian CSFBL.Net: Dvlper's Notes - Comments String--- Expecting it to be a thread about the actual hardcore programming I never opened it. Bored out of my mind I finally got around to opening it last night and now cannot wait untill the next version of the game to come out due in april/may.

http://www.csfbl.com/forums/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=&whichpage=1&TOPIC_ID=3158

I almost stained my pants after reading that thread.

Talk about running before you have learned to crawl. These changes are way beyond what I was expecting to get in the next version. I was just hoping to get the trade feature back and maybe a little more scouting.

Pitching Key in Bullets Victory (http://www.csfbl.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=1630514)

Doing was could not be done, the Victorville Bullets have taken a 1-0 lead in the World Series. The game stayed tied 0-0 until the 10th when the Celtics starter had to leave, and the weakness of their 'pen showed.

With this win, Victorville takes homefield advantage. Game 2 should be done by around 7pm tonight.

Whooohooo.....hey the 10 game winnning streak couldn't continue forever.

Celtics even score with....Pitching? (http://www.csfbl.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=1630515)

It 1-1 in the FOFC World Series. Great pitching was the name of the game, and the weakness was the Bullets 'pen this time. A day off and then on to Califonia for 3, the Bullets need to win at least 2 at home to have a chance. Of course they would like to take all 3 and get this over with.

Next game should be completed by 0700 tomarrow.
