Offseason News

Some major offseason news for the 2014 season. Brian Butts, the 2010 #1 running back recruit in the nation, has declared for the NFL Draft. Normally, a former #1 recruit declaring for the draft wouldn't be a huge surprise, but, in this case, Butts has never carried the ball once in college. In Brian's first season UCLA redshirted him. In his second season, he played special teams all season but never was able to carry the ball behind a highly talented Bruin backfield. Then this past season, Butts was ruled academically ineligible for the 2013 season. Brian apparently decided enough was enough and put his name in for the 2014 NFL Draft. Butts is a highly talented back, and after the combines and his pro day, he may be a top prospect.

Butts sure must have impressed in his combine and pro day. The Jaguars, despite never seeing Butts carry the ball in college, decided to make him the #1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. We'll see if his NFL career is much batter than his college one.

Clyde Harp - cmp - Michigan State - Senior

Harp is one of the nation's top linebackers and should be a force for the Spartans in his senior year.

Rob Nielsen - Coffee Warlord - UCLA - (RS) Junior

What can the Heisman winner do for an encore? Nielsen hopes it is leading UCLA to a title.

Izulde Jestor - Izulde - Wisconsin - Senior

Finally Izulde gets his chance. Wisconsin has named him the starter in his senior season.

Will Brown - vex - Tennessee - Senior

Brown has been stuck behind a terrific back for three seasons and finally gets his chance to be the starter.

Chas Swaggs - Swaggs - Pitt - (RS) Junior

Swaggs should be a shutdown corner for the Panthers this season.

Moe Farley - kobe360x - Texas - (RS) Junior

Farley regressed a bit last year but his extremely talented, maybe more than any other quarterback in all of college.

Jace Hunter - Travis - Notre Dame - Senior

Jace will be a starter for his 4th and final season. We'll see if Notre Dame opens up the playbook a bit for him.

David Gonzalez - kingfc22 - UCLA - (RS) Junior

Gonzalez should get a chance to shine this season as the Bruins #2 receiver.

Dean Hoo - law90026 -Florida State - (RS) Junior

Hoo had a tough season last year but is one of the best kickers in college.

Deion Prescott - MrBug708 - Notre Dame - (RS) Sophomore

Prescott will backup Jace Hunter again this year. But next the Irish will be his team.

Craig Ingram - DanGarion - Stanford - (RS) Sophomore

Ingram had a very successful freshmen season. Now they hope to win the Pac-10.

Andrew Foley - PackerFanatic - Texas A&M - (RS) Sophomore

When Foley got playing time he was terrific. As the Aggies 2nd receiver this year he should get a lot of targets.

Dave Russ - Tasan - Texas A&M - (RS) Sophomore

Wow, Russ is an absolute beast. He will be extremely tough to defend.

Max Power - johnnyshaka - Florida State - Junior

Power is still stuck as the Seminoles 2nd tight end.

Nick Thomas - MacroGuru - Arizona State - Junior

Thomas is the star of the defense. And because the front seven can't seem to stop anyone it's all up to him.

Wahoo McDaniel - wahoomac - Miami (FL) - (RS) Sophomore

The Hurricanes have given the starting job to McDaniel and he will look to be a star.

Ches O'Peake - chesopeake - Maryland - (RS) Sophomore

O'Peake will be the Terrapins 2nd ILB this season. He should be able to find some playing time.

Mike Ritschel - General Mike - Notre Dame - (RS) Sophomore

Ritschel moves from Notre Dame's 4th corner to a starter. He should be strong this season.

Barry White - Jon - Michigan - (RS) Sophomore

White will be the starter once again. His ratings haven't increased much however.

Dan Ertmann - illinifan999 - Southern Miss - Sophomore

Ertmann will be Southern Mississippi's backup.

John Kastos - kastos - Wisconsin - Sophomore

Kastos will be the Badgers 4th tight end.

Deacon Palmer - ntndeacon - Alabama - (RS) Freshmen

Palmer should be a starter on the line for the two-time defending NCAA champions.

Maury Ott - cshex - Tulane - Sophomore

A year after removing his redshirt midseason, Tulane has decided to redshirt Ott this year, his sophomore year. It's strange considering he was unstoppable when he played and is probably their most talented lineman.

Darryl Tovar - wolverine29 - Ohio State - (RS) Freshmen

Tovar will be the Buckeyes third OLB.

Tyrone Hughes - ReDHawk00 - Iowa - (RS) Freshmen

Hughes will be the Hawkeyes 2nd safety so he should see a lot of playing time.

Kuji Chagulia - bbgunn - Temple - (RS) Freshmen

Kuji will be Temple's 4th safety.

Al Mighty - thealmighty - Texas A&M - (RS) Freshmen

Al is the Aggies 2nd corner so he will get a lot playing time.

Mike Schaplowsky - collegesportsfanms - Iowa - (RS) Freshmen

Iowa has named Mike their starter.

Nick Phillips - msubball - Florida - (RS) Freshmen

Nick will be the Gators starting running back.

Larry McGillicuddy - larrymcg421 - Michigan - FreshmenMichigan has named Larry the starting running back.

All other freshmen will redshirt.

Only 10+ TD's. That time on the bench has lowered your expectations. You're catching no less than 20 of my estimated 50 touchdown bombs this year.

8 of which will come vs UW. We will not lose to them again.

UCLA finally gets over the Washington hurdle and moves to 7-0. Rob Nielsen struggled a bit, 17-30 for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns, but 4 interceptions. David Gonzalez caught 4 passes for 93 yards and a score.

Izulde Jestor had a strong game, 28 carries for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns but the Wisconsin defense let them down in a 42-35 loss.

Chas Swaggs continues to be a lock down corner as he picks off another pass, his 6th in 7 games. He leads the country in interceptions.

Texas took care of Baylor, 38-20, behind Moe Farley's 20-31, 284 yards, 3 touchdown performance.

Arizona State shuts out their second straight opponent. Nick Thomas picked up 7 tackles.

Great game for Ches O'Peake as Maryland moves to 7-2. 11 tackles and an interception for a touchdown.

Wahoo McDaniel is on an absolute tear lately. After a 27 carry, 118 yard, 3 touchdown game he now has 484 yards and 9 touchdowns in his last 3 games, all Miami wins.

Barry White is looking to lead Michigan to a national title with the way he is playing. 14-21 for 316 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 41-10 win. White has 13 touchdowns and no picks in his past four games. Could we have a new Heisman frontrunner? Larry McGillicuddy was tough as well with 19 carries foe 111 yards.

What a terrific game for Deacon Palmer as Alabama moves to 8-0, the back to back champs 34th straight win. Palmer picked up 3 sacks. He has 7.5 on the year.

Tyrone Hughes picks up an interception to go with his 5 tackles in a 24-7 win for Iowa. Mike Schaplowsky played great, 23-39 for 363 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Yet another tough FOFC injury. Nick Phillips, in his first game back from an injury ran for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns before getting hurt again. His season is done.

UCLA jumps to the top spot followed by fellow FOFC teams Michigan and Ohio State. Michigan and Ohio State still have to face each other while UCLA has #7 Stanford to contend with in a few weeks. Alabama has to feel snubbed, sitting in 6th despite being 8-0, back to back champs, and winners of 34 straight.

I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this. [cry, cry]

Actually, yes you do. I completely forgot to add this to the stats, and after looking at yours I definitely should have.

On the year you have 25 punt returns for 315 yards (12.6 avg) and 2 touchdowns. 16 kick returns for 486 (30.3 avg) and 1 touchdown. This is the first year you've had any returns.

In the BCS title game, UCLA's offense proved to be too much for Ohio State as Rob Nielsen & David Gonzalez' team took care the Buckeyes 38-20. Nielsen was 18-25 for 265 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 picks. David Gonzalez caught 4 passes for 53 yards. On the Ohio State side Darryl Tovar recorded one tackle.

Will Brown ended his college career in style, 22 carries for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 9 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Tennessee beat Rice 42-37 as Brown made sure NFL scouts know about him.

Moe Farley ended a slightly disappointing season on a high note in a 34-7 win over USC. Farley went 21-37 for 440 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Dave Russ returned for Texas A&M in a 35-30 win over Michigan. Russ recorded 1 sack in the game. Larry McGillicuddy ran the ball 28 times for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns for Michigan.

Terrific game for Ches O'Peake as Maryland beat Kansas State, 34-21. O'Peake recorded 2 interceptions to end the year with 7. He returned 1 for a touchdown, his 3rd return for a touchdown this season. Terrific year for the Sophomore linebacker.

Ches O'Peake was named the NCAA's Defensive MVP. Chas Swaggs joined Nielsen and O'Peake on the NCAA's All American First Team list.
