Please keep me from spending - Ultra Nox Season 2

Ah yes, gone are the days of polite verbiage, when I could blow the cash on chicks, drugs, and transfer rookies...nope, all done now...did my last transaction and the shareholders are looking to rope me up.

We fumbled at the end of the season, and tumbled into 5th place and thus no money (unless you count a qualification match). Still stuck in V.56 with no place to go...but since there is two weeks of down time and I'm 80k under -200k, I need to keep away from the market.

Goals for the year (no pun intended, well maybe).

1. The board wants me to place in the top four (get some money).
2. The board refutes permission to make any transfers until:
a) we're in positive cash flow.
b) a new stadium is built.
3. The board wishes me to pick one training set and stick with it.

After slowly piece by piece taking away debt, I've come to the dreaded two week gap, where I'll be paying but there be no playing...I may sell off a player or two just to keep things civil.

Let's take a look at the Ultra Nox by position.

Six strikers means one too many unless I play the 3-4-3 or the 2-5-3, so there is an odd man out...but I don't know maybe I'll let my gentle readers (all five of you man!!) pick my training set.

Yes, yes...the green, the midfield, the pitch...my midfield squad has had some changes as well...this is currently what I train...(for now).

This will be inner mids only though some players may show up more than once in different categories.

The Frenchman got hurt last season and that hurt us badly because even when he recovered his form didn't. Slowly he's getting back...probably our most well rounded middie, though Delay comes close...stamina should be better this season, hope the form will be...if not, he'll go on the wire.

When I bought this Aussie, he had inadequate defense and inadequate PM...we're working on the PM, and stamina will be better this season as well (I hope)...He can play defense and may be better off there with counterstrike tactics, but I always had him pegged for a mean middie, could get to solid by the end of this season, and he'll only be 18!!

One of my first acquisitions, Cabras is a defensive middie all the way...just bumped to passable in PM, I probably will be lucky to see solid...his stamina is what keeps him on the field...also has the highest experience rating after the coach, go figure

I would say Per is the "Rodney Dangerfield" of my midfield squad...good stamina, good PM, but no respect. He's a fill in and that's it because his secondaries are quite "poor". Still he could see playing time, because of injuries to starters.

Braun got injured. But the upredicatable Canadian could be a formidable before the end of next season, and only 19. His secondaries are much weaker than Leonard and Torp...and he's hurt (hence the low value) which could be a sign of things to come.

Chong-Sik is not going to really be a factor...but he will get playing time if everyone else gets hurt...he's a psuedoclown, which is something to show for it. He may or may not last long with this team...but I believe he won't be a factor.

The wingers I have are young and trainable. I could see the turnover to solid and excellent quite easy, but the question is, will I turn a profit?...I've seen solid wingers go for as low as 13k, and up to 100k! I know most of it relies on the secondary abilities, Leonard and Torp, even Arntzen have those abilities while Braun would be the first to formidable status...

His quick skill will actually decrease his ability as a defender, so I'm more interested in him being a winger...but the poor passing puts a damper in things...that and all the other wingers ahead of him...for now he starts at wingback defensive

My first youth pull of the new season, and I've been told by certain sources for it as being a major deal. Joe has all the ability to be a good striker...perhaps even formidable before the end of the season....needless to say at the suggestion of fellow FOFC hattrickers figuring out a price, I placed him on the transfer wire for a cool 2 million. If no one bites, I'll train scoring as Joe is a high solid and should pop to excellent, and therefore command even more money.

I don't know yet if this is a good thing or not because I won't know till about tues whether or not Joe will be sold. But if he is, I can complete some of the boards' demands such as profit and stadium.

Needless to say, I'm thankful for that solid youth squad now, and I hope everyone who plays can be lucky like this once...I think I won't ever moan again about the youth pull if he does sell.

Still stumped yet on what to train if Joe does get sold...amazing that the fate of the team hangs in the balance on one made up 17 year old.

Once Joe is sold (as long as it's over a million or two).

1. New stadium (I'm looking at about 25k total seating)
2. Hire some economists to have positive interest.
3. Try to avoid the transfer market until I figure out:
a)what to train
b)buying one or two quality prospects without losing my shirt....
c)buying one or two quality vets to push us over the top in our division and to go far in the cup (more money)
4.Funding the Fighting Crawfish as long as I get Australia and all the attactive women in it.

That's seems to be it this season, it'll be fun if I don't blow it all. Though I'm sure I'll make a few owners happy (I usually shop in Norge).

With this knowledge I grab a decent defender, and go into hunting for someone worth training, I decide that a nice young solid keeper would help things along.

But first I expand my stadium...since the league is so tough, I take the lowest setting because when I run into Ring of Fire and Heavy Metal for 4 games, the fans may revolt if I got 0-4.

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Riddle Arena saw a crowd turnout of 27988. Riddle had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Sorenson - Young, Foster, Matsson - Small, Childs, Wilde, Matthews, Reed - Staples, Katz.

Ultra started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Cambra - Noe, Levin, Gebler - Leonard, Cabras, Delay, Sala, Torp - Hey-You, Alvarez.

Lucio Cabras gave the visitors the lead in the 18:th minute with 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball call in the penalty area. Alexander Wilde put his head to a well placed ball lifted in from the left and scored the 1 - 1 goal in the 23rd minute. The referee showed Ultras Carl Leonard the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After a fine move down the middle Jason Small nearly gave the home side one up in the 32nd minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 1. Riddle held the ball, with a clear 70 percent possession rate.

Riddle created a good opportunity to score in the games 49:th minute when José Katz`s hooked ball created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Romeo Foster was very close to giving Riddle the lead with an ingenious free kick routine in the 64:th, the ball just grazing the bar. After 68 minutes Riddle´s Fredrick Sorenson contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Riddle´s José Katz got himself booked. Ultra´s Ike Noe left the field after 72 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Gary Grewar. Riddle, bringing the final ball possession rate to 78 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Riddle player was without a doubt Alexander Wilde. Peter Matsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Ultra player was Lucio Cabras. However, Gary Grewar made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 1.

I know Riddle's owner will not be pleased, we go into their house and hold them to a one all tie. Wait till you check out the ratings

Heavy Metal and Ring of Fire are the leaders, and rightly so...I'm playing with smoke and mirrors, Nationals has my number and Riddle will avenge...Mehados would be dangerous but the owner seems content to train defense and therefore 2-3-5 is his position of choice...I fear he'll be cashing in someday to equal out his team, he gets one decent striker and he'll be unstoppable...the Ballers are at least operational...Melloncolly shouldn't be a threat.

8888 spectators had come to Ultra Nox Arena this cloudy day. Ultra tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Cambra - Noe, Levin, Gebler - Arntzen, Cabras, Sala, Torp - Grewar, Hey-You, Alvarez.

Raytown started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Hernandez - Negrete, Strickland, Mitchell, López - Crane, Suan-Teck, Dobbs, Gilman - Zavala, Pace.

Ultra took the lead in the 22nd minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Xu Hey-You elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. The home side´s Ike Noe came close to extending the lead in the 27:th minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but Dom Hernandez managed saving with a fingernail. Ultras Odd Torp got himself booked after a foul. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Ultra lead up with 2 - 0. Gary Grewar finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. The structure of the game started to change as Ultra decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The referee showed Raytowns Ricart López the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A great save by goaltender Dom Hernandez in the 39:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Lucio Cabras struck from the left with a real cannonball. Raytown kept trying to force their way through on the right side. Ricart López got his chance in the 40:th minute, but the home sides left defence held his position and was able to stop the attack. The teams went for a half-time break at 2 - 0. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 53 percent, dominated the battle.

The Ultra players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. Ultra appeared unsure on how to play. Óscar Alvarez sailed high, high above the opponents as he headed the 3-0 in after a corner kick after 58 minutes of play. Óscar Alvarez almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. A great save by goaltender Dom Hernandez in the 80:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Odd Torp struck from the left with a real cannonball. Ultra put themselves up 4 - 0 when Sidney Levin broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 64 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Lucio Cabras. Guillermo Sala on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Raytown player was without a doubt Ricart López. Dominick Mitchell was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.

Ultra´s Per Hansson could have put the guests one up in the 27:th minute, chasing a through ball but Lucio Melia was fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. 1 - 1 was the half-time score. Superstars held the ball, with a clear 67 percent possession rate.

In the 61st minute Steve Ramirez almost put the home team one ahead on a cross pass coming in from the right, but the shot went wide. Ultra had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially in the 65:th minute when Gary Grewar came up alone against Lucio Melia who managed a block. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Superstars´s Todd Doty was able to shove the ball in. 2-1. The referee showed Superstarss Jan Golden the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. An indirect free kick in the visitor´s penalty area in the 81st minute could have resulted in another goal, but Antonio Cambra got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar. Superstars held the ball, with a clear 74 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Superstars player was without a doubt Dick Fowler. Edwin Schaefer on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Ike Noe. Luis Gebler on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.

Seen it and actually plodded through part of the book before getting bored. Good stuff (tho his writing style reads like a history book).
