He's got you on this one Shorty. The only way Coors Light tastes decent if you haven't tasted beer before. Ok maybe it's better than some of the regional crap beers that go for about a buck fifty a twelve pack *cough cough* Blatz *cough* but aside from that, it sucks.

Vince

Seriously, Shorty, Axxon and NoMyths are right. Wait until you get to try some good beers...a microbrew or two. I prefer Porters and Stouts myself, but I also go for an occasional Red or Pale. Microbrews are the way to go :)

When I went to Australia, I didn't see a single Aussie drinking Foster's. If it was ever brought up, they would laugh at it. As for me, I prefer 151 or Everclear. :p

DISAGREED! I know it isn't the best (I would prefer to have a Bud Light, for instance), but it is definately worse if you haven't tried it. Liking Coors Light is an acquired taste.

Vince

If you're comparing Coors Light to Bud light, that's your problem right there. Domestic beer sucks. Seriously, spring for some Newcastle or Harp or Bass next time. Those are some better beers.

EDIT: And if you really want Coors Light to taste good, try some Natural Light, or maybe some Milwaukee's Best. There's some nasty beer.

Dude, being my age doesn't make it too easy to pick and chose. I usually get my choices from the local grocery or gas station.

I don't touch Nati or the Beast anymore, I know all too well about those.

Another one that is decent and really cheap is Keystone, 30 for 11 bucks. Can't beat that.

Vince
01-07-2004, 02:47 PM
'Stones are the way to go. Cheaper than Coors or Bud, and not really all that much worse.

And I can understand not being able to pick and choose...back in the day when I was a freshman in college, it was cases of Miller High Life, the Champagne of Beers. That's all we ever got. To this day, I'll still enjoy a nice longneck of highlife every once in a while, just for the nostalgia :)

i find cheap beer and liqour is the way to go. Usually a 30 of Miller High Life for 10 bucks or so and a cheap handle of Dubra or cheap gin for another 10 bucks gets everyone pretty good and drunk for a good price.

Though when we do have bucks it's guiness in bottles (BRILLIANT!) and Jameson's. Sometimes we go for a finer brand of vodka which is ok too.

And when out at the bar, i always get cheap pints of Bud or some of the local beers on tap

I've become a bit of a beer snob in my old age. I pretty much just drink Shiner Bock, Fat Tire, and Harp. The only way I'll drink Bud Light is if it's free or if I'm flat broke. Premium beers are the way to go... :)

Life is too short to drink shitty beer.

Fat Tire, Mirror Pond Amber, WinterHook Seasonal, or if I need a meal Guiness (though the best stout I've ever had was Moss Bay Stout).

Gin is disgusting, unless you like the taste of gasoline. Vodka or Tequila for the hard stuff (mmmm, Margaritas...)

Kids and their pot. Weed is not as fun as getting hammered. Give me a case before a blunt any day. And I too used to like only liquor (gets you hammered quicker), but you will soon grow to enjoy sitting down with a cold beer and gradually getting smashed.

Because I remembered now, it's the vat, the bottom of the vat of Coors that Keystone comes from.

I don't think I'd go that far. Then again, where I am at UMass I could leave a 30 of Milwaukee's Best Light sitting in the hall and it would be gone within 15 minutes. Less on a weekend.

Actually, who am I kidding - I'd never relinquish a 30 no matter how bad the beer is.

One of my great uncles drank listerine.... and rubbing alcohol.... anything with alcohol at all. He died young.

This is kind of off-topic, but when I get drunk off either 151 or Everclear grain alcohol (190proof) it's a different kind of drunk. I don't feel as tipsy and I've never gotten sick despite having had more alcohol there than with like Morgan's or Smirnoff. And Shorty, that's another thing you might want to consider - if you're making like 50/50 Rum&Coke mixes, they go down so easy there's a greater danger of drinking too much.

Vodka good, gin bad. Tequila ok (try it with tobasco!). Rum - much better.

That is good stuff.

I have been sticking to the hard stuff in recent years.

Mostly scotch(highland single malts in particular), but I have also grown a fondness for something I hated with a passion when I was younger. That is Gin. The reason I hated it, was I was drinking garbage brands. Before bashing Gin you need to try Bombay or Bombay Saphire(the stuff in the blue bottle) or even Tanqueray. Most of the other stuff I have tried isn't fit to drink. The same goes for most of the Vodka brands out there. The cheap stuff just doesn't cut it.

Ok, I admit, the gin I was thinking of when I said gin is nasty is some green gin I had to get down in gallon size. It was terribl. I have had Tangeruray, and it is good. Heh.
