An Arkansas mother of five accused of having sex with one of her junior high school students may have had sex with three other juveniles in another school district. Federal investigators with the FBI and U.S. Customs Service are now assisting local police in the investigation of Deanna Bobo.

The 37-year-old special education teacher at Raymond E. Wells Junior High School (http://www.wnd.com/redir/r.asp?http://sites.securemc.com/folder9324/) in Greenwood, Ark., is already on paid suspension for allegedly having sex twice with a 14-year-old boy in his own bed while his parents were not home.

Her attorney entered a plea of not guilty on Bobo's behalf to avoid an appearance in court.

Now, according to KFSM-TV in Fort Smith, Ark., authorities say the potential victims they're investigating are not students at Wells Jr. High but rather attended another school where Bobo taught. Their ages have not been specified, but police say they were all juveniles at the time of the alleged contact.

"There is so much more pressure on the investigation now because more people know about it," Sgt. James Flynn of the Greenwood Police Department told the station. "There are more questions being asked. It's also publicity that you really don't want for your community in that way, shape or form. We don't want people to learn about Greenwood on national news because of something like this."

Flynn is not surprised, though, by the national interest.
"We kind of figured it would be once we got the case, simply because it's a female teacher and a younger male student," he said. "I think had it been a male teacher and a female student, it wouldn't have been the story that it was."

KFSM also obtained documents with more details on the current case involving the 14-year-old boy, who was taught and tutored by Bobo, and attended church together.

The student allegedly told police Bobo said not to tell anyone of the sexual encounters, though he eventually informed his best friend. The documents note the boy's mother discovered e-mails between the pair on her son's computer. The boy's father contacted authorities and submitted nine e-mails as evidence.

When police interviewed Bobo, she reportedly denied being sexually involved with a student, indicating she had never been alone with a pupil where an incident could have taken place.

She's charged with sexual assault, a first-degree felony punishable by 10 to 30 years in prison if convicted.

A woman is being sought on child rape charges for allegedly persuading a high school student to run away from home and have sex with her, authorities said.

Genevieve Elise Silva, 20, of Richmond, is accused of providing ecstasy and methamphetamine to a 15-year-old De Anza High School student during sexual encounters and convincing the boy to move to Oklahoma with her over the summer, said Richmond police Sgt. Mitch Peixoto.

Silva, who authorities said appears in several X-rated videos available for sale on the Internet, is being sought on suspicion of rape using a controlled substance, statutory rape and detaining or concealing a child, Peixoto said. A felony warrant has been issued for her arrest.

The alleged victim, who lives in El Sobrante in western Contra Costa County, met Silva through her younger brother and ran away with the woman in June, eventually landing in Oklahoma, where Silva's mother lives, Peixoto said.

Police are investigating whether Silva's mother has any criminal liability in the case, Peixoto said.

During the investigation, police said they found pornographic pictures of Silva on a Web site that also featured advertisements for several X-rated videos starring her.

ROOSEVELT - A porn actress wanted by California authorities on rape charges and for giving drugs to a 15–year-old boy during sexual encounters was arrested Wednesday in Kiowa County, an undersheriff said.

Genevieve Elise Silva, 20, of Richmond, Calif., remains in the Kiowa County jail without bail, awaiting extradition to California, said Terry Tyler, Kiowa County undersheriff.

Tyler said she was taken into custody without incident at her mother's home, the old Roosevelt High School on Main Street.

Silva is charged with statutory rape, rape by use of intoxicating or controlled substance and concealing or hiding a child from the legal custodians. A $10,000 felony warrant was issued for her arrest, said Richmond police Sgt. Mitch Peixoto.

Peixoto said the woman said she has made numerous porn films. Peixoto said he was only able to confirm she made one film.

Silva, who uses the stage name of Elise Silva, is accused of providing ecstasy and methamphetamine to the teenager during sexual encounters and convincing the boy to move to Oklahoma with her over the summer, Peixoto said.

The boy met Silva through her younger brother, Peixoto said. Earlier this year, the teen ran away from home and moved in with Silva, he said. The pair went to Disneyland this past summer with Silva's mother and returned home from the amusement park "acting like boyfriend and girlfriend," Peixoto said.

The pair left California in June and moved in with Silva's mother, Rhonda L. Brocchini Silva, 42, at her Roosevelt residence, he said.

The boy was returned to his parents' home in El Sobrante, Calif., in October, he said.

Rhonda Silva also is under investigation, Peixoto said. Kiowa County authorities said Rhonda Silva was not taken into custody.

Roosevelt city officials said Rhonda Silva moved to Oklahoma from California in the spring after buying the old 10-room Roosevelt High School from an online auction site. She used the old school as a home, living in the home economics room.

Rhonda Silva said she received a "divine sign" to buy the school at 420 Main St., because it matches a "420" tattoo on her right leg, Peixoto said.

The four-twenty phrase is often a slang term for marijuana, he said.

Teacher accused of sex with teens seeks new judge

The 29-year-old Wrightstown teacher accused of having sex with two teenage girls did not enter a plea as expected Wednesday but rather asked to have a different judge hear the case.

Stephen Sherman allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old girl whom he met when he was her sixth-grade teacher. The relationship allegedly began in January and continued through the summer until October when the girl and her family informed authorities.

Sherman also is accused of having a sexual relationship with a now 21-year-old woman beginning when she was a 16-year-old student at Wrightstown High School, where Sherman was a teacher at the time. The girl told authorities that she broke off the relationship in January 2004.

Sherman's lawyer, Jeff Jazgar, asked for a judicial substitution, but the request was denied by Brown County Circuit Court Judge William Atkinson, who ruled that he had already made a decision on a different motion and should stay on.

Jazgar argued that the law allows a defendant to file for substitution at any point before arraignment and the other motion — to have the case dismissed based on defective information — did not short-circuit the option for substitution.

Atkinson set a hearing for Jan. 9 to hear additional arguments on the matter. Should Atkinson reaffirm his decision, Sherman could then be forced to enter a plea.

Sherman is charged with three counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff, three counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of having sex with a child age 16 or older.

If convicted on all counts, Sherman faces up to 150 years in prison. He remains in custody in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. Sherman also faces a pair of sexual assault charges in Outagamie County stemming from alleged contact with the same two girls at Sherman's apartment in Kaukauna. He is due in court Jan. 18 for a preliminary hearing on those charges.

A second female teacher has been accused of molesting a male student, Kern County Superior Court records show.

Jennifer Lynn Sanchez, 31, a mathematics teacher at Buena Vista Continuation High School in Taft, was charged on Dec. 22 with four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old student, and one count each of oral copulation and sodomy with the same student.
She has resigned from her teaching job, school officials said Thursday.

She has pleaded not guilty in the Taft division of Kern County Superior Court and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 26.

Her bail initially was $150,500, but it was reduced on Dec. 28 to $25,000 and she has since posted that bail, court records show.

The case was investigated by the Taft Police Department. The alleged sexual encounters occurred between Oct. 1 and Nov. 21.

This case was brought to light following the arrest Wednesday of Sherry Brians, 41, a seventh-grade teacher at Buttonwillow School who was charged with engaging in lewd acts with a 12-year-old boy at the school. She is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in the Shafter division of Kern County Superior Court.

Buttonwillow School seventh-grade teacher Sherry Brians pleaded not guilty this morning to two counts of annoying or molesting a child under 18 — a much lesser charge than what she was originally accused of.

Brians, 41, was originally arrested on suspicion of engaging in lewd acts with a 12-year-old male student — a felony that involves sexual contact.

Annoying or molesting a child under 18 is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum fine of $1,000, one year in jail or both.

Brians and her 12-year-old student hugged and kissed on numerous occasions, Brians and the boy told police, according to investigative reports. There was no indication of sexual contact beyond that, however, according to the reports.

Police began investigating Brians after the child’s parents found a letter from Brians to their son that indicated a romantic relationship between the two, according to the reports.

Brians’ bail was set at $5,000 today, and she was ordered not to contact the alleged victim or victim’s family. A pre-trial hearing date was set for Feb. 2.

Fla. teacher sentenced to house arrest for sex with student

INVERNESS, Fla. - A former Citrus County high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student has been sentenced to two years of house arrest.

Amy Gail Lilley, 36, pleaded no contest Thursday to a charge of lewd and lascivious battery of a child under 16. She also has been sentenced to eight years of probabtion.

Circuit Judge Ric Howard agreed to what he called a significantly reduced sentenced based on statements from Assistant State Attorney Rich Buxman and Lilley's attorney, Michael Blackstone.

''The natural parents disagreed over what should be done,'' Buxman said. ``Both the ... father and victim didn't want charges filed. The mother wanted prison.''

The judge denied a request from the girl to talk to Lilley and ordered the two not to have contact.

The girl's father said he believes his daughter ``is not a victim. (I believe) two people fell in love.''

The affair occurred last fall at Lilley's home and in Orlando, investigators said.

Lilley's personnel file shows she graduated from Lecanto High in 1987 and went to work there as a business education teacher in 1993. She also coached girls softball at the school.

As a condition of her probation, she has to permanently give up her teaching certificate and undergo counseling as a sexual offender.

Good point, but I have to hold you responsible for post #1021 (although it could be the poor quality of the pic that makes her look more hideous) which includes a pic. Gottimd gets the blame for lifting the vale of mystery in post #1026 for the last one. I didn't think 1021 was as ugly as some of the others on earlier pages. And really, how hot can a 14 year old expect to get in this situation? Clearly, a few kids hit the jackpot, and the rest got the regression to the mean. And then there's the lesbians.

A FEMALE schoolteacher has tried to portray herself as a "vulnerable" victim after having sex with a student, 15.

Bridget Mary Nolan, 24, pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with the boy, who was a student at a South Australian country school where she worked as a music teacher last year.

Nolan, who faces a maximum seven years' jail for each of the three charges, yesterday asked not to be sent to jail, saying her "fall from grace" happened when she was depressed over a break-up with a boyfriend.

"There's more than one victim in what is clearly a sorry tale," Nolan's lawyer Joana Fuller told the SA District Court. "These offences occurred not, as is often the case, as a result of a deliberate, premeditated exploitation of a student-teacher relationship.

"(Nolan) was lonely, she was depressed, she was heartbroken.

"She was utterly vulnerable at the time these offences were committed."

The court heard the illicit relationship started with a kiss on a bus at a school camp.

The court was told Nolan later became concerned about the consequences the kiss would have on her career and asked to meet the boy to discuss it.

Instead, they had sex after the boy suggested they go into her bedroom, Ms Fuller said.

She said Nolan again tried to discuss the matter some weeks later and again the pair had sex.

Ms Fuller said the sex occurred because Nolan did not want the boy to feel rejected and retaliate by telling authorities and cause her to lose her job.

The court also heard from the boy's mother, who said Nolan's actions had "destroyed" him.

She said her son had previously been an A and B grade student but in his last English assignment scored just five marks out of 25.

"A young, pimply-faced kid (was) suddenly thrust into an adult world," the mother said.

"What should be a natural progression through teenage years and young love has been snatched away by a predator that should have been a carer.

"My son has lost friends over this, been gossiped about and tormented by other students.

"I will never forgive you for causing my beautiful son so much hurt and humiliation," the mother told the teacher. Nolan will be sentenced in March.

Female teacher charged with sex assault on boy

INGLESIDE -- A Grade 7/8 teacher at an Upper Canada District School Board school here has been charged with sexual assault involving a then 13-year-old male student.

Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP arrested and charged the teacher, 40-year-old Jennifer Dorland, on Wednesday.

The charges were laid two days after police began their investigation, said Constable Joel Doiron.

He said the charges stem from complaints about incidents in September of 2004.

Doiron would not say where the incidents are alleged to have happened, nor would he say if they involved intercourse.

Upper Canada superintendent of education Ted Kennedy confirmed Dorland is a teacher at Rothwell-Osnabruck Public School in Ingleside.

Police, who did not identify where Dorland teaches, did say the incidents occurred at the school where Dorland was teaching this year.

Kennedy said Dorland is on leave, but would not say if she is still being paid.

"Obviously this is a shock and a surprise, but what we need to be reminded of is we are dealing right now with allegations," stressed Kennedy.

Police would not give details about who approached them with the allegations.

"I can't say exactly where the information came from ... but it's a report that was made to us directly of the allegations of the act and from there on we began an investigation which led to the charges," Doiron said.

"At this point we're dealing with this investigation. If others (complaints) would come forward, of course we would deal with those," he said.

According to Kennedy, counsellors in the school and staff at the board office are available to offer any support needed by students or teachers at the school.

Dorland is charged with sexual assault, invitation for sexual touching and sexual interference.

She was released from custody and will appear in provincial court in Cornwall on February 6.

The pair reportedly met in the classroom, but engaged in the alleged wrongdoing off campus after school. All indications are the sexual activity was consensual.

According to the police report, "... [Patch] and the juvenile met in a local restaurant, exchanged phone numbers, and arranged to meet to talk later in the evening. During the course of the meeting between the two, sexual activity between [Patch] and the juvenile occurred."

The informant stated Patch "performed oral sex" on the student, but did not engage in sexual intercourse.

The teacher has been charged with the third-degree felony of "unlawful sexual conduct with a 16- or 17-year-old," though she was originally charged with misdemeanor lewdness. Prosecutors say the felony applies in this case because the assailant is at least ten years older than the minor.

DEFIANCE — Two female Ayersville High School teachers were indicted — one accused of having sexual contact with a male student and the other accused of showing her classes a movie with sexual-bondage themes — in Defiance County Common Pleas Court, the county prosecutor’s office announced yesterday.

A bill of information was filed in the same court yesterday against a former Hicksville Elementary School sixth-grade teacher, who is accused of stealing money from the school camp program he administered.

It is the first time in memory that law enforcement officials have investigated three teachers simultaneously in the county.

Mrs. Long, 29, of Defiance, who taught English at Ayersville

High School, was indicted on one count of sexual battery. She is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a male student who was 17 at the time. He has since turned 18.

She is to be arraigned Monday. If found guilty, she could face up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Mrs. Long resigned Wednesday from her position, which paid her almost $42,000 a year to teach four senior English classes, one freshman English class, an advanced placement English class for seniors, and speech, as well as advise the staff of the school newspaper.

Mrs. Espen, 39, of Bowling Green, a Spanish teacher who has been employed by Ayersville since 1998, was indicted on one count of pandering obscenity and one count of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

Her attorney has said she has shown the Spanish language movie Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, which is rated NC-17 or not to be shown to youths under 18, to about five Spanish classes over several years. The film is about a man released from a mental hospital who seeks out a pornographic film star with whom he once had sex and tries to win her love through bondage. It was last shown to her Spanish III class.

Mrs. Espen, who is suspended from her job, which paid her more than $55,000 a year, has requested a hearing before a referee charged with making a recommendation to the school board on her employment. That hearing, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, was delayed. A new date has not been set.

She is to be arraigned Feb. 2. If found guilty of pandering, she could face up to a year in prison and up to a $2,500 fine. If found guilty of disseminating harmful matter, she could face up to six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.

A bill of information was filed by the county prosecutor against Mr. Peverly, 50, of Hicksville, charging him with one count of theft.

He is accused of stealing between $500 and $5,000 from a school camp program that he oversaw for about 15 years.

He resigned last month from the school district where he had been employed for 27 years.

He is to be arraigned Jan. 31. If found guilty, he could face up to a year in prison and up to a $2,500 fine.

A female substitute teacher has pleaded guilty to performing oral sex on a teenage student.
Natalina D'Addario, 36, of Kensington, was on a short-term contract at a school in Melbourne's north when she began a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy in May last year.

D'Addario, who previously worked in non-government schools, was employed at the school as a relief teacher.

The Department of Education had suspended her after the school became aware of the allegations in September last year.

She appeared today in Melbourne Magistrates court, where she pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual penetration with a child under 16 and sexual penetration with a 16-year-old child who was in her care, supervision and authority.

She allegedly performed oral sex on the student in suburban Dallas and Ascot Vale between May 13 and July 31, 2005.

Magistrate Lisa Hannan ordered that the name of the school where D'Addario had previously been employed as a substitute teacher be suppressed.

Ms Hannan ordered D'Addario to appear in the County Court on March 31, 2006 for pre-sentencing submissions.

EASTON | A 28-year-old substitute teacher pleaded guilty Monday to having a sexual relationship with a female student she met at school.Sara Singley, of the 600 block of Raub Street, pleaded guilty before Northampton County Judge Edward G. Smith to one count of reckless endangerment. A charge of corruption of minors was dropped as part of the plea deal, records say.

Singley met the 16-year-old girl while working as a substitute teacher at her school in October 2003, records say. The school where Singley met was not specified, but the charges were filed by Bethlehem Township police.

In January 2004, Singley and the girl began a romantic relationship and had sex several times at parks in Bethlehem Township and at motels around the area, records say. The girl contacted police in March 2005, records say.

Freedberg ordered Singley to have a sex offender evaluation performed before she is sentenced at 9 a.m. March 13.

MAYS LANDING, N.J. -- A female physical education teacher is being held at the Atlantic County jail on charges involving official misconduct and sexual crimes involving three male students.

Authorities arrested Traci Tapp at her Waterford Township home Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Tapp was hired at Hammonton High School in January 2001, but was suspended with pay last March after one of the students' parents went to school officials.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said Tapp fondled a 17-year-old student in her office in the girl's locker room in 2001.

The Atlantic County prosecutor said Tapp had sexual contact inside her home with another 17-year-old in 2001.

Prosecutors said a third student -- a 16-year-old -- had sex with her while staying overnight at her home in 2003.

HAMMONTON, N.J. -- A female high school gym teacher in New Jersey pleads guilty to charges involving three students, but will avoid jail time.

Traci Tapp, 28, was a physical education teacher at Hammonton High School in Atlantic County.

Under her plea agreement, Tapp will never be able to teach in a public school again. But she will not face any time in prison.

"I was a little surprised that there was no probation or any jail term," said Chief Frank Ingemi of the Hammonton police department.

Hammonton's top cop had that reaction after learning the result of Tapp's guilty plea this week.

The former gym teacher was arrested in September for allegedly having sexual encounters with three male students between 2001 and 2003.

At the time, she was charged with numerous offenses including sexual assault and official misconduct.

But in court Monday, Tapp avoided possible prison time by pleading guilty to offensive touching, which is a disorderly persons offense.

Under her deal with prosecutors, the conviction forever bars Tapp from public employment in New Jersey and that the police chief says he's satisfied with.

"I believe the most important factor here was the children and she again will not be able in the state of new jersey ever educate another child," Ingemi said.

In her plea, Tapp admitted that she touched the lower back and buttocks of male students and said she knew her actions were offensive.

The judge ordered her to pay a $225 fine, but declined to put her probation because he said permanently barring her from public employment at her age is a severe punishment.

On Thursday, Tapp's attorney told NBC 10 the plea agreement was the farthest she would go when it came to admitting inappropriate actions with any student.

He also said forfeiting future public sector jobs in the state carries a heavy burden for the former teacher.

Jason Eickmeyer, 18, isn't pleased that the plea deal his former gym teacher struck with prosecutors won't send her to prison. Eickmeyer told NBC 10. He was one of three male students involved with Tapp.

"If it was the other way around, if it was a male on a female student, I think he would definitely be punished more severely, he would definitely be in prison," Eickmeyer said.

Eickmeyer also told NBC 10 he would have taken the stand against Tapp if he had been offered the chance.

High school teacher faces sex charge

PIKEVILLE -- A 36-year-old woman teacher at Charles B. Aycock was arrested Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with having sex with an 18-year-old male student.

Laurie Spurlock of Devon-shire Drive was charged with two counts of a felony sex offense with a student, a violation of state law. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.

Sheriff Carey Winders said Thursday that his office was asked Wednesday by the Wayne County Board of Education to investigate an incident between a teacher and a student.

Detective Sgts. Tammy Odom and Dean Roscoe began an investigation.

The initial report indicated that a sexual relationship had occurred between the female teacher and a male student. Winders said the crimes did not occur on school property.

Ms. Spurlock turned herself in at about 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sheriff's Office with her lawyer.

Winders did not identify the student. He said the case is still under investigation and additional charges would be sought through grand jury indictments.

Wakulla teacher faces sex charges

A Wakulla High School exceptional-education teacher and a teacher's aide were arrested Tuesday on four counts each of sexual assault against two students.

The teacher was identified as Elaine Turner, 36; the aide is Qunikiya Thomas, 24. Thomas worked as an aide at the school. They both live in Crawfordville.

Turner is accused of having sexual relations with one student on four occasions, while Thomas is accused of sexual relations with a second student four times, said Jim Griner, spokesman for the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office. These events reportedly happened off campus. The boys were between the ages of 14 and 17 and still attend the school.

Both turned themselves in Tuesday. Turner was released after posting $10,000 bail, while Thomas was given pre-trial release.

Thomas "gave a statement" to investigators, Griner said, but he could not verify whether she admitted to any wrongdoing. Jeffrey Duggar, 36, another exceptional-education teacher at the school, was charged last Thursday with tampering with a witness in connection with the case.

WYTHEVILLE -- Female teachers accused of sexual involvements with students are the kinds of stories that get saturation coverage on some of the 24-hour news outlets.

But the interest gauge seems lower when it happens in a place like Wytheville.

http://www.roanoke.com/images/nd/3.2.06.3.jpgKaren Susan Patton, a teacher for 13 years in Carroll and Wythe counties, is facing charges of sexually molesting three 13-year-old boys during the past year.

Patton, 41, was a seventh-grade language arts teacher and cheerleader sponsor at Scott Memorial Middle School in Wytheville for a year and a half. She resigned Jan. 27 after being charged in connection with the first student. Charges involving the other two students came this week.

Although Patton has lived in Wytheville for more than eight years, she did most of her teaching at the Woodlawn School in Carroll County. The Carroll native taught in Carroll from 1991, when she graduated from Radford University, until 2004 when she took the Wytheville teaching job.

She was named Teacher of the Year in Carroll in 2003.

Marilyn Blanks, her principal at Woodlawn and now assistant principal at Hillsville Elementary School, said Wednesday that the procedure to choose that teacher is for each school to submit a nominee to the superintendent's office and a committee from the different county schools to make a selection. Blanks said she could not comment on a personnel matter but had never heard any complaints about Patton.

The Wytheville Police Department has passed information from its investigation to Carroll County authorities to see if any instances might have occurred when Patton taught in Carroll. June Franks, 24, is a secretary at Highland Christian Academy in Pulaski.

The alleged sexual act did not occur on school property, and the 16-year-old victim is not a student at Highland Christian Academy.

Franks was charged with one count of statutory rape.

ORLANDO, Fla. — State prosecutors decided today to drop charges against a former Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.

The decision, announced hours after a judge rejected a plea deal for Debra Lafave, means the victim won't have to testify.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys had urged the judge to accept the deal for the sake of the boy involved. A psychiatrist who examined the teenager told the judge at a previous hearing that the boy suffered extreme anxiety from the media coverage of the case and does not want to testify.

Marion County Circuit Judge Hale Stancil, however, said the lack of prison time for Lafave under the plea deal "shocks the conscience of this court," and he rejected it.

Assistant State Attorney Richard Ridgway, in explaining the decision to drop the charges, said: "The court may be willing to risk the well-being of the victims in this case in order to force it to trial. I am not."

Lafave, 25, already faces three years of house arrest and seven years probation in Hillsborough County, where she was charged with having sex with the same boy in a classroom and her home. She pleaded guilty Nov. 22 to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery under a plea deal there.

In Marion County, she was accused of having sex with the boy in a sport utility vehicle.

Lafave said at a news conference later today that she has bipolar disorder, and her attorney said she was getting treatment.

"I have a lot of things in my past that have unfortunately become public," Lafave said.

Hillsborough County prosecutor Mike Sinacore has said the victim's family had anticipated a trial, but the media attention prompted the boy's mother to push for a plea deal.

"There is no one that wanted to see Debra Lafave serve jail time more than myself," the boy's mother wrote in an e-mail to the Ocala Star-Banner over the weekend. But she said the welfare of her son was more important.

Jupiter, Fla. — He has become a celebrity at Royal Palm Beach High School, and by extension, so has she.

Ashley Saltalamacchia is the wife of top Braves prospect Jarrod Saltalamacchia. She is also a physical education teacher at the Florida high school he graduated from three years ago.

There's no way around the proverbial elephant in the room, so here are the quick answers: She's in her 30s, significantly older than the 20-year-old catcher; she never taught a class with him in it; she said their personal relationship didn't begin until the fall of 2004, a year after he graduated.

They were married eight months ago on an off day during Saltalamacchia's breakout season at Class A Myrtle Beach, where the switch-hitting slugger hit .314 with 35 doubles, 19 homers and 81 RBIs in 129 games.

"I told him, [the story] is going to get out eventually," she said.

His three home runs this spring and No. 1 prospect status have made "Salty" a household name among Braves fans who haven't even seen him play yet. So try to imagine how big a star he is at Royal Palm Beach High, north of West Palm Beach.

"Huge," said Ashley Saltalamacchia, who gets questions from students and faculty about how her husband is doing in his first major league spring training camp.

"They don't even know me — it's all about Jarrod," she joked Sunday from the stands at Roger Dean Stadium, as the 6-foot-4, 230-pound catcher stood on the field, signing autographs for fans sticking balls and cards through the fence.

"I kid him that I have no identity anymore, that 'It's all about you.' "

Ashley, a former Stetson volleyball player, is thrilled and not surprised her husband is moving closer to his goals.

"He doesn't take anything for granted," she said. "And he enjoys every minute. He doesn't have a bad day. I was a college athlete and I've been a coach, and I walked off the court with my head down some days. He doesn't. He knows tomorrow's a new day."

About 25 family members, friends, teachers and others sat together Sunday to pull for Saltalamacchia, who grounded out as a pinch-hitter to end an 11-2 Braves loss to St. Louis.

"Not only do we have all of his family members here," Ashley joked, "I think everyone who ever came into contact with him is here."

She attended a split-squad game Saturday against the Mets when Saltalamacchia hit his third homer. The custom-made "Salty" sticker on her car got increased responses.

"I get honks and people doing the [tomahawk] chop," she said.

Thirty-eight-year-old Toni Woods, a former 6th grade teacher in Braxton County, received 4 to 20 years in prison.

Woods was arrested last March after telling police she had sex with four boys--all under the age of 16.

The former teacher said nothing outside court as a wedge of family and friends tried to hide her from photographers.

Inside the courtroom, Woods said: "I was the monster these families think I am."

She tried tp convince the court her bizarre behavior was linked to taking Prozac and diet pills and that she was a candidate for probation or home confinement.

The Judge wasn't buying it.

One victim's parent said Woods turned her son into a drinking, drug using somebody she doesn't know.

Dale Fisher, another parent: "For him (his son), this is a lifetime thing. It's not going to end today."

Fisher is suing the school board over the impact on his son.

Debra LaFave, a Florida teacher facing similar charges avoided prison this week. What was different?

William Martin, parent: "Up here we had multiple victims. I wanted her to hear what she has done to our family."

The Judge gave Woods until April 1st to turn herself in to the Central Regional Jail.

A 30-year-old female English teacher began having sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student at Milton Hershey School last March or April and continued through December, court papers state.

Meanwhile, Lower Dauphin school officials confirmed that allegations of improper conduct involving a school resource officer at Lower Dauphin High School are being investigated. Hummelstown Police Officer Paul Keppel has been reassigned pending the investigation, school district spokesman Jim Hazen said.

The Milton Hershey teacher, Brianna K. Said, 30, of the 6100 block of Summit Pointe Drive, Lower Paxton Twp., and her former student had sex at the school and at Said's home an unspecified number of times, court papers state.

Yesterday, Said, who was fired from the Derry Twp. school in January, was charged with corruption of minors, which is a misdemeanor, and interfering with the custody of children, a felony. Since the youth is older than 16, Said cannot be charged with statutory rape.

Senior Judge William Rathfon released her on $25,000 unsecured bail and told her to appear in Hummelstown District Judge Dominic A. Pelino's courtroom at 9 a.m. May 19 for a preliminary hearing.

Outside the courtroom, Said's Harrisburg attorney, Terry McGowan, said he will call the teen as a witness during the preliminary hearing.

"I'm just going to be interested in what this young man has to say because rumor has it he's gone to the school and totally changed his story and recanted everything," he said.

The student, who is now 18 and lives in Philadelphia, no longer attends Milton Hershey School, police Sgt. Eric Singheiser said. The school would not say if he quit school or was expelled.

"We can't discuss the disposition of any of our students," said Connie McNamara, a Milton Hershey School spokeswoman.

Said was a ninth-grade English and language arts teacher who had worked at the school for 61/2 years. School officials fired Said on Jan. 23 for having an "inappropriate relationship" with the student, said Pete Gurt, the school's vice president of student life.

Singheiser said police began investigating the case on Jan. 20 when school officials told them about it. Singheiser said the investigation showed that only one student had a relationship with Said.

At Lower Dauphin, district spokesman Hazen, in a prepared statement, said a high school staff member on March 7 "received an allegation of inappropriate conduct against the Hummelstown Police Department school resource officer."

School officials immediately notified police and Keppel was reassigned, according to the statement.

Hazen referred questions to Hummelstown Police Chief Charles Dowell, who could not be reached last night.

The woman is free on a $1,000 bond. Her next court appearance is set for April 7.

A Waddell High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a male student has resigned, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Sgt. Randy Hagler said police are just beginning a criminal investigation. The teacher has not been charged with a crime.

Early this week, he said, police and school officials heard a rumor the teacher and male student, who is a senior. On Wednesday, the student told officials the rumor was true, Hagler said.

Neither police or school officials would identify her. Schools officials said the teacher was suspended on Wednesday, and then resigned.

Hagler said he believes the alleged incident happened off-campus and after school hours. He said he believes it only happened one time. Police will continue to investigate the case and then turn their findings over to prosecutors, who will decide whether charges are appropriate. It is against the law for a teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student, regardless of the student's age.

A FEMALE teacher has appeared in a Queensland court charged with sexually molesting a female student over a two-year period.

The 25-year old teacher, who cannot be named, is charged with 92 counts of indecent treatment of a child under the age of 16.
She did not enter a plea during a brief appearance at Beenleigh Magistrates Court today and was granted bail.

Police allege the offences took place over a two-year period involving a female student who is now 16. Prosecutors did not oppose bail and the woman was ordered to reappear for a committal hearing on June 5.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A Delaware schoolteacher was charged Tuesday with 28 counts of raping a minor after she allegedly engaged in a weeklong sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student, police said.

Rachel L. Holt, a 34-year-old science teacher at Claymont Elementary School, faces additional charges that she allowed a 12-year-old friend of the victim to watch them have sex at her home, and that she gave both boys beer, New Castle County acting Police Chief Scott McLaren said.

Robert Ziegler, a spokesman for the Brandywine School District, confirmed that two boys were allegedly involved in the incident.

"One student was involved physically, and the other one observed," Ziegler said.

Police say Holt and the 13-year-old had sex 28 times between March 24 and March 31. Under Delaware law, the boy is too young to consent to sex.

Police began an investigation after the victim's father told police his son was having an inappropriate relationship with his teacher, New Castle police told reporters Tuesday.

The father "also indicated his son had lied to him about staying at a relative's home while he stayed overnight at Holt's residence," according to the county police Web site.

The affidavit in the case states Holt knew the victim's father would disapprove of the boy spending the night at her residence, and alleges Holt phoned the boy's father's girlfriend, pretended to be the boy's mother and obtained permission for the boy to stay at her Wilmington, Delaware, home.

Holt was jailed and bail set at $500,000. She has been placed on leave until further notice, school administrators said.

A judge in Spotsylvania County said it would take more than money for a teacher accused of sexual misconduct to earn her release from jail.

Bonnie Sue Davis, 35, posted $5,000 bond to gain her release on Monday. But in addition, she is forbidden from having any contact with two teenage students with whom she's accused of having sex.

Police searched the home of the special education teacher where they suspect she had sex with the two male students, ages 14 and 15. She's been charged with two counts of sodomy, six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and having sex with a child.

The judge also ordered Davis not to leave the commonwealth.

Police say none of the alleged activity took place at school. Davis worked as a teacher for the district for six years, four of which were spent at Courtland High School. Davis has been suspended from her teaching duties.

She was being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Davis' next court appearance is set for May 26th in Spotsylvania County.

McMINNVILLE, Tenn. - A former elementary school teacher who spent six months in jail for having sex with a 13-year-old student was arrested again, this time for violating probation by apparently communicating with the victim.
Pamela Rogers, 28, was arrested Tuesday and released on $10,000 bond. A judge Wednesday ordered her to appear at a July 12 hearing.
Last August, Rogers reached a plea deal to serve nine months on an eight-year sentence, allowing her to avoid a trial on 28 charges of sexual battery and statutory rape. She was released from jail in February for good behavior.
Under terms of the plea deal, she was, among other things, ordered not to contact the victim or his family and not to use the Internet.
Authorities said she violated probation by establishing a Web page on the online social networking hub MySpace.com. Her page featured a blog that included what authorities said was communication between Rogers and the victim's 17-year-old sister.

Rogers is also accused of issuing a cryptic message to the victim through the MySpace page by addressing his basketball jersey number, saying he was her hero and that she would not fall in love again for three years.
The Web site also featured several pictures of Rogers in a bikini.
District Attorney General Dale Potter said he will seek to have Rogers return to prison to serve the remaining seven years of the original prison term.
"This came in such a short amount of time after she was released on probation and in our opinion these were intentional violations of the terms of her release," Potter said.
Rogers' attorney, Peter Strianse of Nashville, told WSMV-TV he was "very concerned" that Rogers' plea agreement was in jeopardy.

(COFFEEVILLE, Alabama) April 13 - A Coffeeville High School teacher is arrested and charged with having sex with several students. She also allegedly tried to involve one of those students in a plot of murder.

Coffeeville High School teacher 30-year-old Sharon Linton Rutherford, is arrested Tuesday by law officers in Clarke County. "There was a plan that this teacher possibly wanted to kill her husband," says Clarke County Sheriff's Detective, Ron Baggett.
Investigators say two of the sexually molested victims were under the age of 16 and the investigation continues to see if any more students were involved.
Chief Deputy Donnie Arnold explains the charges against Rutherford: "Solicitation of murder, first-degree rape, 2 counts of enticing a child to enter a vehicle or room, sexual abuse second degree. The matter will continue to be investigated," says Arnold.
School officials say Rutherford was placed on administrative leave from her position as an English teacher until the case is complete. "She won't be back teaching our students," says Clarke County Superintendent, Gerald Stephens.
Meantime, some of her students remain in disbelief. "She was a real good teacher. I was really surprised when I heard the news, but I didn't believe them," says Coffeeville High School Student, Emily Gilmore.
The first accusation came against the teacher in 2004, but school officials say they had little proof to go on . Recently, one of the students came to the school principal with information, which sparked the latest investigation.
For now, Rutherford remains in the Clarke County Jail with her bond set at $55,000.

Asheville, NC – A North Carolina teacher’s assistant is facing charges after she allegedly had sex with an 18-year-old student.

Twenty-two-year-old Heather Shelton is accused of having a sexual relationship with a high school senior at the school she worked at, North Buncombe High School. Even though the student is not a minor, it is a felony for school employees to have any sexual activity with students according to North Carolina law.

Shelton did not teach the 18-year-old student.

Buncombe County Schools fired Shelton from her job last week. At her first court appearance on Monday, a judge informed Shelton that if convicted, she faces up to 44 months in prison.

I hate laws like this. The "kid" is 18, and only four years younger than the "adult." She didn't even teach him. Now, she'll never be able to work at the school again, and possibly have a felony conviction. If she had misused her position to get some (like promised grades for sex) then fine. I just don't see how this should be a felony.

You don't think a blanket prohibition against students and teachers having sex is justified? I realize the difference between this and a molestation between a younger kid and his/her direct teacher, but I don't have a problem with outright forbidding any kind of contact in this regard. Just doesn't bother me.

I don't see why that limitation should be put on there. There are certain types of non-sexual relationships which should remain that way, regardless of whether the relationship is direct in a particular circumstance.

Don't agree at all. This is like saying since it is wrong for a psychiatrist to have sex with his/her patient, it should be illegal for him/her to have sex with any psychiatric patient. It is way too broad and unnecessary. If a teacher has sex with an underage student, it is already illegal. If a teacher has sex with a student under them but of age, then they should lose their license to teach for life. I don't see a need for anything more severe than that. In this case, I'm not seeing anything close to what should be illegal here.

Actually, such relationships are common and not illegal. Some companies have policies against them, but it is far from illegal. I have just watched three different sexual harassment videos from three different companies and they all make clear such relationships are not illegal though they can be problematic. I know several people who have wives and girlfriends that work directly under them. This case though is even far removed from that. It is like a McDonald's manger being sued by a Burger King employee. This teacher assistant and student were in different schools, and on top of that the students she was helping with were special needs. Again, nothing even close to being a problem.

It becomes a problem if the person below the other decides to make it one. I agree that in a consentual relationship it's not a big deal, but it has the potential to become one. I'm sure it varies state to state, but at least in Washington, it's pretty well emphasized in the training I've had that you open yourself to firing and a personal lawsuit in consentual situations should they turn sour and there's even a hint that you used your position to gain an advantage over someone. Of course, I know plenty of people with significant others in subordinate positions to them.

I didn't realize they weren't even in the same school. That seems ridiculous.

Anyway, back to the hot child molester aspect of this thread.

Edit: The point I was trying to make is not that it's illegal, but that it is certainly frowned upon (in most industries) and can definitely lead to serious trouble. Different than being explicitly illegal like in the school cases I guess.

The pictures show the West Boca Raton teacher, Erica Chevillar, in bikinis and suggestive lingerie.

Chevillar's only 25 and in her first year on the job. She teaches social studies.

It turns out Chevillar modeled for the "USA National Bikini Team" before taking on teaching. The company says it provides "entertainment services."

The school district says the shots don't violate any policy since the teacher isn't naked. Still, they're looking into parents' complaints and debating whether the photos violate ethical standards.

Some parents are pushing for action.

Sure and she should get fired from the school. But the guy is a legal adult at 18. It should not be a felony or statutory rape or anything illegal. Just a right for an employer to enforce a moral code amongst their staff.

Tericka Dye, a science teacher and volleyball coach at Reidland High School in Paducah for the last two years, was suspended Wednesday and told she would not return to the classroom in the fall.
"Your presence in the classroom would cause a disruption to the educational process," McCracken County Schools Superintendent Tim Heller wrote in a letter to Dye. "I fear there would be less than a serious approach to schooling by students who viewed the video or know about it."
Dye said she suffers from bipolar disorder and agreed to appear in the 1995 flick because she had no home or income and her disease wasn't being treated. Dye said she spent one day in Los Angeles filming the movie and did not use her real name.
"I absolutely 100 percent regret doing that," Dye said. "I've always tried to look ahead and not focus on it. But I wasn't diagnosed at the time."
Dye later joined the Army and served in a military police unit at Fort Lewis, Wash., before going to college and becoming a teacher.
Some parents, such as Bonnie Chilcoat of Reidland, supported Dye. Chilcoat took her daughter, Nicole Genel, out of school to attend an impromptu rally Wednesday for the suspended teacher.
"She's not the person she was 10 years ago," Chilcoat said. "We've all done things that we regret, except hers is on tape."
Mark Blankenship, a Murray attorney hired by the Kentucky Education Association to represent Dye, said the superintendent's decision may be challenged.

1. She's under a contract which is set to expire soon.
2. She's currently on a paid suspension
3. She isn't being "fired" technically, they just aren't renewing her contract.

Now I might be wrong on any 3 of those, but the language of the other article I read lead me to believe this.

I agree that if this was a straight-up firing, it's total bullshit.

It depends if they have a tenure system in Kentucky and how long she has been teaching there. If she was still on her yearly contracts, they can pretty much let her go for anything. If she had tenure, she has the right to due process and can appeal her termination.

THe fact remains that making a porno is a legel job in this country and you should not be fired for doing what you wanted or needed to do to make money prior to your current profession.

If the new info is correct then they're just not reknewing her and thats fine, their choice and all that, but if they're shitcanning her specifically for making a porn film a decade ago I hope she sues them into non-existance. Personal morality is individual, you can't manage a public program using your own personal right and wrongs, they won't match up with (in most cases) even the majority of people.

I can't see how "making a porno" and "teaching children" matches up with even the smallest minority of peoples' moral compasses. This has nothing to do with her specifically and everything to do with the general idea of protecting children from people who engage or have engaged in this type of activity. I would have had no problem with them firing her.

I wonder - to bring this thread full circle - what the community's response would have been if this had been a guy? I bet a lot harsher, given the idea of men as sexual predators.

The bottom line is, I don't care to go on a witch hunt to find these people, because more than likely they are good teachers. But if the information gets out, the person has to go. The two are incompatible. It's basically a "don't ask, don't tell, don't google" policy.

Absolutely. If it were your school, you could make the decision. Employers fire people all the time for doing things that are legal. They have the right to set standards and expect employees to adhere. Just because you did something in the past does not mean an employer does not have the right to fire you. In this case, her actions in the past have caused a problem in the present. If the school wants to set standards of character for their staff, then they can. If it were something that did not cause a present conflict with how she is percieved by students, you may not have seen a firing or failure to renew her contract, etc.

She has been employed by the school district since the summer of 2002.

Police said Friday the investigation is continuing, and there is a possibility of additional victims and charges.

In Colorado Springs, a number of teachers or high school coaches have faced similar charges in recent years.

In April 2005, 33-year-old Gwen Anne Cardozo, a former Wasson High School English teacher, was charged with a pattern of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust for having a sexual relationship with a student, 18-yearold Victor Ivan Gomez.

Cardozo was given a fouryear deferred sentence in September. Her plea agreement required her to register as a sex offender, participate in sex offender treatment and remain under supervision the rest of her life.

Dana Scott Anstey, a longtime Sierra High School coach and social studies teacher, was sentenced in January to seven years of intense supervised probation and was ordered to register as a sex offender for using the Internet to prey on young girls.

He taught at Sierra for 19 years and was arrested after arranging to meet two girls in person, after chatting with them online about having oral sex.

On May 1, former Pine Creek High School chemistry teacher Derrick Adam Davies was sentenced to three years in prison for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student.

Davies molested the girl in a classroom after agreeing to help her improve her grades and had sex with her when he brought her soup when she was home sick.

Two local coaches who worked for Colorado Springs School District 11 also have been arrested in the past year for sexual acts with minors. One was a contracted worker and the other a volunteer spirit team coach and crossing guard.

Charles Henry Myers, 52, was jailed On Oct. 21 on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust, after admitting that he sexually assaulted a female student. He is free on $10,000 bail.

And Marsha Ann Williams, 45, was arrested in November on suspicion of hosting a party for teen girls during which she photographed them simulating sexual acts with party favors shaped like penises.

She was not charged with a crime; the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said she exercised “incredibly bad judgment” but did not break the law.

A picture of here in the paper does show she's hot looking. Go figure.

Amy Burke, 32, of Carteret, was charged Wednesday with official misconduct, and faced additional charges today of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

The student Burke is accused of having the inappropriate relationship with was 13 at the time of the incident, which Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Andrea Carter said began last spring. The student no longer attends McGinnis School, authorities said.

The investigation began after another student's parent reported the possible relationship to school officials.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old Gwinnett County high school teacher for inappropriate sexual contact with her 17-year-old student.
Gwinnett County police arrested Angela Christine Coffey of Lilburn, a teacher at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross on Friday, said police spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney. She bonded out of jail Saturday, about five hours after her arrest, according to jail records.

 Coffey, who resigned Monday, taught English to speakers of other languages, school district spokeswoman Sloan Roach said.
"It's been hectic, to say the least," Coffey said in a brief phone interview on Tuesday. She deferred further comment to her attorney, who could not be reached for comment.
Coffey had been teaching at Meadowcreek High since August 2004, Roach said. She also taught social studies at Sweetwater Middle School from August 2001 through May 2003, Roach said.
Police would have charged Coffey with rape or other charges if there was evidence that the sexual contact was forced, Moloney said. But force is not relevant to the charge because she had some authority over the student, he said.
Sexual contact occurred over six months, from March to August, Moloney said.
Police withhold the names of minor victims as a matter of policy. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution does not report the names of sex crime victims.
Police arrested Coffey the same day an investigation started, not long after receiving information about the alleged inappropriate sexual contact, Moloney said. Investigators do not believe she had similar sexual contact with other students, he added.
School district officials were unaware of any previous problems with Coffey, Roach said. School officials notified the Georgia Professional Standards Commission about Coffey, she added.
The district will submit a report to the state agency, which oversees the certification, recruitment and professional discipline of educators, Roach said.

The Daily News reported that Christine Marie Johanson, who worked at Hudson Park Elementary School, allegedly had a sexual relationship with a freshman at Rainier Junior/Senior High School. Further, the indictment also alleges that Johanson forced the boy to have sex with her.

She pleaded innocent Monday to 10 counts of third-degree rape, two counts of third-degree sodomy, 12 counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of furnishing liquor to a minor, according to The Daily News.

The case echoes that of an infamous former Washington state teacher and her student.

Mary Kay Fualaau, then Mary Kay Letourneau, was convicted of child rape for having sex with her student in 1996. He was 13 at the time and later fathered two of her children. She served more than seven years in prison and was released in 2004. The two recently got married.

A Brighton Charter High School teacher accused of having sexual contact with a boy while chaperoning a school camping trip turned herself in at the Jefferson County Jail this morning.

This is the second time in less than a year that an adult connected to the school has been investigated for having a sexual encounter with a student.

The teacher, Carrie McCandless, 29, is the wife of school Principal Chris McCandless. She has been fired from the school.

McCandless arrived at the jail with a bondsman at 9 a.m. to answer a warrant issued for her arrest by a Larimer County judge. She was released at noon after posting $20,000 bond.

A 24-year-old first-year female teacher has been arrested on charges of molestation and indecent behavior with a 12-year-old male student – and police say they have a videotape to prove it.

Stephanie Giambelluca, 24, a former teacher at J.D. Meisler Middle School in Metairie, La., was taken into custody on Wednesday along with Ryan Mapes, 18.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, police say that Mapes allowed the teacher to come to the home where he was babysitting the boy. She, allegedly, wanted to have sex with the student.

Prior to her arrival, Mapes set up a video camera in the living room. When she came to the boy's home, she and the student went into another room. No information has been released about any activities that occured there.

Afterwards, Giambelluca brought the boy back to the living room where Mapes gave him a Xanax tablet he had taken from the woman's purse. She disrobed to her underwear, performed a suggestive dance for the boy and performed oral sex on Mapes in front of him.

According to police statements, Mapes admitted to the sex acts.

Bond has not been set for either of the two suspects.

The phenomenon of teachers accused or convicted of having sex with their students has come to the forefront of national and international news in recent years.

Some of the cases involving women have been chronicled by WND, including:

Adrianne Hockett: Accused of having sex with a 16-year-old special-needs student in a Houston apartment she rented for the get-togethers. The boy has testified the pair would "have sex, drink beer and smoke weed."

Amber Jennings, 31: Though Jennings was initially charged with having sex with a 16-year-old, the counts against the Sturbridge, Mass., woman were reduced to a single charge of disseminating harmful materials to a minor. She reportedly admitted e-mailing naked photos of herself to a former student. She received no jail time, only two years of probation after pleading guilty.

Amber Marshall, 23: Northwest Indiana woman allegedly had sexual contact, including intercourse, with several students at Hebron High School, and turned herself into authorities, telling police she knew what she did was illegal.

Amira Sa'Di, 30: Clayton County, Ga., woman remarked she didn't think her relationship was inappropriate based on her Internet research, learning the Peach State's age of consent is 16.

Amy Gail Lilley, 36: Inverness, Fla., woman and softball coach at Lecanto High School charged with a lesbian relationship with a 15-year-old girl. She received no prison time, being sentenced to two years of house arrest and eight more years of probation.

Amy McElhenney, 25: Charged with having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student, the 25-year-old Hebron High School Spanish teacher and former Miss Texas contestant will not be serving any jail time after a Denton County, Texas, grand jury refused to issue an indictment. While the age of consent in Texas is 17 years, a state law bans sexual relationships between educators and students even if the student is of legal age and the relationship is consensual. She could have faced 20 years in prison if indicted and convicted.

Angela Comer, 26: Middle-school teacher from Tompkinsville, Ky., fled with her alleged lover, her 14-year-old male student, before being tracked down in Mexico where she reportedly planned to marry the boy. She was indicted for illegal sex acts with a minor and returned to Kentucky. Charges include felony custodial interference, two counts of third-degree sodomy and four counts of unlawful transaction with a minor relating to sexual acts.

Angela Stellwag, 24: Delran, N.J., woman accused of having sex in her apartment with a 14-year-old boy she met in school. She was charged with sexual assault for activity that allegedly took place in August 2004. She pleaded not guilty in August 2006.

Beth Raymond, 31: Private-school employee from Pownal, Maine, charged with risk of injury to a minor and second-degree sexual assault of a juvenile male at Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, Conn. In July 2006, she was sentenced to 18 months prison.

Bethany Sherrill, 24: Daughter-in-law of school-board president charged with molesting a 15-year-old middle-school student. Reports state Sherill allegedly had oral sex with the boy and sent him coded text messages. She resigned her position at Jefferson Elementary School in Farmington, Mo., and eventually received 90 days in jail and two years probation, and was forced to register as a sex offender.

Brandy Lynn Gonzales

Brandy Lynn Gonzales, 27:The Houston-area teacher and her husband were arrested in December 2006 for sexually assaulting students at an elementary school two years earlier. Prosecutors allege that Gonzales met a student at a local movie theater, where she performed oral sex on the boy as well as another student at the theater. Husband Johnny Gonzales is also charged with having performed sex acts with one teen. Prosecutors told the judge they have sufficient evidence to file further charges.

In February 2006, Flannigan was sentenced to five years prison as part of a plea deal.

The instructor, who also coaches cheerleading, could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison for sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Cathy Heminghaus

Cathy Heminghaus, 46: Special-education teacher from Ferguson, Mo., charged with statutory sodomy involving at least three of her students at Ferguson Middle School. She reportedly told friends she had performed oral sex on the children on several occasions.

Celeste Emerick, 32: Police in Huber Heights, Ohio, say the Wayne High School teacher hosted a party where students were shown pornography. Prosecutors charged her with one count of sexual battery, a felony in Ohio.

Christina Gallagher, 26: Jersey City, N.J., woman received no jail time, but was ordered to pay more than $1,000 in fines, sentenced to a lifetime registration as a convicted sex offender and ordered to attend therapy for having sex with a 17-year-old student in late 2004. The former Rahway High School instructor was banned from teaching and seeing the student with whom she had sex.

Christine Duda, 39: Teacher at the Normandy Alternative School in St. Louis County, Mo., allegedly took a 16-year-old hearing-impaired male student to her home for sex in December 2005. She was charged with two counts of felony statutory rape and fired by the school district.

Christine Scarlett, 36: English teacher at Strongsville High School in Ohio began a sexual relationship with the 17-year-old captain of the football team, Steven Bradigan, in November 2002 and eventually gave birth to Bradigan's son. Scarlett was fired from her teaching job, but insists nothing improper happened during the time she was Bradigan's teacher. She was never charged with any criminal wrongdoing.

Deanna Bobo

Deanna Bobo, 37: Special-education teacher at Raymond E. Wells Junior High School in Greenwood, Ark., allegedly had sex twice in 2005 with a 14-year-old boy in his own bed while his parents were not home. She denied the charge, but was convicted in September 2006 of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Debra LaFave

Debra LaFave, 25: Tampa, Fla., area teacher received no jail time despite having sex with her 14-year-old male student in a classroom and her Hillsborough County home. In another county, Marion, she was accused of having sex with the boy in an SUV. LaFave claimed at a March 2006 news conference she had a bipolar disorder. The boy's father said LaFave should have received prison time in her plea deal, noting, "It's a horrible, ugly thing that she's done."

Diane DeMartini-Scully, 45: Mattituck, N.Y., woman was the school psychologist at East Hampton Middle School on Long Island when she was accused of having sex with the 16-year-old boyfriend of her own 13-year-old daughter. She allegedly had intercourse and oral sex with the boy on a number of occasions in May 2005 in her home and car. She was arrested after allegedly secretly visiting her young paramour at his new home in North Carolina.

Donna Carr Galloway, 33: Married mother of two found naked in a car with a 17-year-old student.

Elisa Kawasaki, 25: Biology teacher from Fresno, Calif., area, pleaded no contest to sex with a teen boy, and prosecutors dropped four other counts.

Elizabeth Miklosovic, 36: Grand Rapids, Mich., teacher at South Haven's Baseline Middle School pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female student she "married" in a pagan ritual in June 2004. Miklosovic is also accused of touching the girl's genitals while camping in public parks. She told the judge before sentencing, "The entire ordeal has been blown totally out of proportion for something that was innocent, kind and nurturing in nature." She was sentenced to five to 25 years.

Elizabeth Stow, 26: Tulare Western High School teacher from Fresno, Calif., area convicted of having sex with three of her students was sentenced to nine years, but the judge suspended that sentence and gave her one year, followed by five years of probation. She was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

Ellen Garfield, 43: Former student at Solomon Schecter School in Newton, Mass., said his music teacher took him into an empty classroom where she worked, partially disrobed, and coaxed him into having sex with her in 1998. Garfield was acquitted of all charges in September 2005.

Emily Morris, 28: Teacher at Leeds High School in St. Clair County, Ala., faced a possible 20-year sentence, but received one year in jail for having consensual sex with a 15-year-old student.

Erica Rutters, 29: Teacher at Oxford Christian Academy in New Oxford, Pa., allegedly wrote erotic messages to a 16-year-old student and had sexual intercourse with him four times in her apartment. She pleaded guilty to corruption of a minor, and received no jail time, just three years of probation in March 2006.

Franca and Antonia Munoz-Juvera

Franca and Antonia Munoz-Juvera, 26: These twin sisters – both teachers – were arrested in Southern California in December 2006 in connection with alleged lewd acts with an underage female student. Only Franca was charged with "unlawful contact" – Antonia was charged with being aware of the incident and failing to report it as required under California law. An 18-year-old female roommate was also arrested because she "facilitated the crime."

Georgianne Harrell, 24: Teacher at Holley Elementary School in Sylvester, Ga., charged with performing oral sex on a 9-year-old boy in April 2005, allowing students to gaze down her blouse and slashing her wrists with glass in front of her students. Though she originally pleaded not guilty, she changed her plea to guilty just before trial, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for aggravated child molestation.

Gwen Cardozo, 33: Teacher at Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., accused of having sex with a 17-year-old male student. Police charged her with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, and Cardozo resigned her position in March 2005. She pleaded guilty in July 2005 and received a deferred sentence, meaning no jail time if she remains trouble-free for four years.

Heather Ingram, 30: Mathematics, science and business teacher at Chatelech Secondary School in Sechelt, British Columbia, had sex with a 17-year-old student. The relationship cost Ingram her job and reportedly led to the breakup of her 12-year common-law marriage to a man four years her senior.

Jacquelyn Faith Garrison, 19: Substitute teacher at South Central High School in Winterville, N.C., was indicted in January 2006 on charges she was having an improper relationship with a 15-year-old student. The case involves some 50 phone calls and text messages exchanged between Garrison and the boy, who reportedly became uncomfortable when things of a sexual nature came up.

Janelle Bird

Janelle Marie Bird, 24: Accused of having a two-year affair with a 15-year-old student from East Hill Christian School, in Pensacola, Fla. Declaring her love for the boy, she was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery and two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. Though Bird could have received 30 years upon conviction, she was sentenced in 2006 to two years in state prison.

Jaymee Wallace

Jaymee Wallace, 28: Basketball coach in Tampa, Fla., charged with having an 18-month lesbian relationship with a student. Authorities say the student, who was 15 when she met Wallace, voluntarily had sex with the coach more than 50 times, in a parking lot at Busch Gardens and often at Wallace's own apartment while a fellow classmate was in an adjacent room. According to the police report, the sexual relationship reportedly began in early 2003, after the student received a note from Wallace saying she "found her attractive and wanted to know if she felt the same way."

Joan Marie Sladky, 28: Redwood City, Calif., woman sentenced to six months in county jail for having sex with a 16-year-old student after pleading no contest to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation and penetration with a foreign object. The Spanish teacher's relationship with the boy spanned six months, as she reportedly had sex with him once at his home and three times at her residence, which was on the property of the private Baptist church and school where she taught.

Katherine Tew, 30: Married English teacher from Greenville, N.C., arrested for having sex with a 17-year-old boy. She taught at South Central High School in Winterville, N.C., and was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a child, but found not guilty of the more serious sex charge. She was not given prison time, and lost her teaching license for at least two years.

Kathy White, 39: Teacher at Lumberton High School in Lumberton, Texas, charged with having sex with a 17-year-old student. The victim, Michael Ferguson, alleges: "She just started grabbing me and hormones were on and it just happened." Ferguson provided KBTV-TV with an e-mail allegedly sent by White, in which the teacher told him, "I get these cravings for YOU and that's not NORMAL! If I had it my way, I'd do you once a week just because it's good."

Kelly Lynn Dalecki, 28: Elementary-school teacher from St. Augustine, Fla., pleaded no contest to charges she had sex with a 13-year-old boy in 2003. The boy's parents reportedly found more than 50 sexually explicit e-mails and pornographic pictures allegedly sent by Dalecki on his computer. Dalecki was sentenced to nearly a year in prison.

Kristen Margrif

Kristen Margrif, 27: Mayville, Mich., teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old male student in her car or at his summer workplace in June and July 2005. She was given a one-year delayed sentence in June 2006 on three felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a student, meaning she'll only have to serve probation if she remains trouble-free for a year.

Kristi Oakes

Kristi Dance Oakes, 32: Teacher allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old boy who was in her biology class the previous year. Oakes resigned from her post at Seymour High School in Sevierville, Tenn., and reportedly lost her home and even the job she took at a grocery store after resigning from the school system because of the charges. In July 2006, she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in jail.

Lakina Stutts, 40: School-bus driver admitted to cops she had sex with a 14-year-old student in her home and in a car outside the boy's home.

Laura-Anne Brownlee, 26: Former music mistress at a top private school in Belfast, N. Ireland, was given a six-month suspended sentence on charges of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old boy.

Laura Lynn Findlay, 30: Band teacher at Ricker Middle School in Buena Vista Township, Mich., charged with having sex with at least 5 students, one as young as 14. She was sentenced in August 2006 to at least seven and as much as 25 years in prison.

Lynn Saunders, 38: A former basketball star at the College of Staten Island, the gym teacher at St. Paul's School in New Brighton, N.Y., was arrested in March 2005 for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl whose family she had befriended. Saunders admitted to touching the girl's breasts and genital area on several dates in February 2005. She received no jail time, only probation and registration as a sex offender. The family is now suing Saunders and the Archdiocese of New York, claiming the girl became suicidal and still suffers from "severe emotional shock, trauma, embarrassment, anxiety and other psychological injuries."

Margaret De Barraicua

Margaret De Barraicua, 30: Sacramento, Calif., area woman arrested after police found her having sex with a 16-year-old male student in her car while the woman's toddler was strapped into a seat in the back. She pleaded guilty to four felony counts of statutory rape and was sentenced to a year in jail and five years formal probation.

Maria Saco, 28: Math teacher at Lincoln Middle School in Passaic, N.J., sentenced in 2005 to a year in jail for an intimate relationship with a teen student who was 14 when they first met. Saco reportedly gave the boy a key to her apartment.

Mary Kay Letourneau, 34: Des Moines, Wash., teacher did prison time after having sex with a sixth-grade student, Vili Fualaau, in 1996 and eventually had two children by him. She originally had Fualaau in her second-grade class at Shorewood Elementary School in Burien, Wash. The couple has since married.

Melissa Michelle Deel, 32: Bristol, Tenn., teacher at Virginia Middle School pleaded guilty to crossing the state line into Virginia to have oral sex with a 13-year-old male student. As part of her plea agreement, Deel agreed never to profit from the crime, as well as have no contact with the boy and his family without court permission. She was sentenced to a year and two months prison.

Michelle Kush, 29: Substitute teacher at Boone County High School in Florence, Ky., allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old boy several times during summer break. She was charged with two counts of rape and one sodomy count. In August 2006, Kush was sentenced to 60 days in jail, 30 days on house arrest and five years probation.

Nicola Prentice, 22: British woman from Sheffield, England, given a 12-month suspended jail sentence after she seduced a 16-year-old student and began a 19-month affair.

Nicole Barnhart

Nicole Andrea Barnhart, 35: Highlands Ranch, Colo., woman reportedly told police she loves the 16-year-old boy with whom she was having sex. A teacher at Ponderosa High School, she pleaded guilty to felony sexual assault on a child, resulting in a two-year prison sentence and a minimum of 10 years in a sex-offender probation program.

Nicole Long

Nicole Long, 29: English teacher at Ayersville High School in Ohio resigned her teaching post after being accused of raping a 17-year-old boy. She pleaded guilty in January 2005 to a charge of sexual battery, and was sentenced in March to three months in jail.

Nicole Pomerleau, 31: English teacher at Olympic High School in Charlotte, N.C., arrested in March 2004 for allegedly having a sexual relationship with her 16-year-old student. The age of consent in North Carolina is 16, but teachers having sex with students is an exception to the law. Though Pomerleau admitted the affair, she got no prison time and did not have to register as a sex offender.

Pamela Balogh

Pamela Balogh, 39: Gym teacher and coach at a Somerset, N.J. Catholic high school was charged in December 2006 with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female student over a period of 10 months. Authorities say the assaults happened mainly in Balogh's office.

Pamela Smart, 22: Media-services director at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, N.H., had convinced her 15-year-old lover to murder her husband. She was arrested in 1993 and is now serving a life sentence. The Nicole Kidman film "To Die For" is based on her story.

Pamela Rogers Turner, 27: Former model and beauty-pageant contestant also taught at Centertown Elementary School in McMinnville, Tenn. She was arrested in February 2005 for allegedly having a three-month sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy. She resigned her teaching position and was charged with 15 counts of sexual battery and 13 counts of statutory rape. Originally sentenced to 270 days in August 2005, she got in additional trouble in April 2006 for sending text messages, nude photos, and sex videos of herself to the same boy while using her father's cellphone. In July 2006, she was sentenced to seven years for violating her probation.

Rachelle Vantucci, 32: Ex-substitute teacher from Geneseo, N.Y., admitted having sex with a 16-year-old boy she met at a local riding stable. After pleading guilty, Vantucci agreed to surrender her teaching license and register as a sex offender.

Rebecca Boicelli, 33: Redwood City, Calif., woman gave birth to a baby last year and DNA test results gave prosecutors enough evidence to prove the father is Boicelli's former student, who was 16 at the time of conception. She was sentenced to two years in prison.

Rhianna Ellis, 24: Social-studies teacher at the High School for Health Professions and Human Services in Manhattan, N.Y., allegedly began a 10-month sexual relationship with an 17-year-old player on the school's basketball team, and reportedly gave birth to his baby. The teen boy even introduced Ellis to his parents, never indicating she was his teacher.

Robin Gialanella, 26: Teacher at Silver Bay Elementary School in Toms River, N.J., engaged in kissing, and inappropriate conduct and conversations with two sixth-grade boys, ages 11 and 12, in 2003 and 2004. She was sentenced to 364 days in jail with psychotherapy, must register as a sex offender, will be under lifetime supervision and must surrender her New Jersey teaching certificate.

Robin Winkis, 29: English teacher at Central York High School in York, Pa., allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old boy after giving him alcohol. Authorties accused her of five alleged sex acts during October and November 2005. She pleaded guilty as part of a deal, and was sentenced to two to 23 months in jail.

Samantha Solomon, 29: Guidance counselor at the High School for Health Professions and Human Services in Manhattan, N.Y. was fired after school bosses learned she was having sex with a teenage boy. She denies the allegations, attributing them to rumors gone wild.

Sandra "Beth" Geisel, 42: English teacher at Christian Brothers Academy, an all-boys school in Albany, N.Y., allegedly had sex three times with a 16-year-old male student in May 2005, including once on school grounds in the football stadium's press box. Originally indicted in September for three counts of third degree rape, she pleaded guilty to a single count of rape and was sentenced to six months in jail, and ranked as a Level 1 sex offender, the lowest risk.

Shelley Allen, 35: Teacher's aide from Cherokee County, Texas, was arrested in June 2005. Allen was charged with sexual assault of a child and faces a possible 20 years behind bars.

Shelley White, 24: Geography teacher in Britain had been engaged to be married before she kissed a 15-year-old student on at least three occasions. She avoided jail, but received 12 months community service.

Sherry Brians, 41: Middle-school language-arts instructor in Buttonwillow, Calif., originally arrested in January 2006 on suspicion of engaging in lewd acts with a 12-year-old male student, a felony that involves sexual contact. She pleaded not guilty to two counts of annoying or molesting a child under 18.

Stephanie Burleson: Volleyball coach and teacher at Floresville High School in Texas six years ago, pleaded guilty to all charges for molesting a 16-year-old female student. She was sentenced to 10 years probation, and required to register as a sex offender.

Susan Clickner, 47: The eighth-grade science teacher at Blanchard Middle School in Lowell, Mass., was sentenced to serve 18 months for having sex with one of her students in the back seat of her car. Clickner had been accused of luring the 14-year-old during the summer of 2005 into the back seat of her car and molesting him. He later told his parents, who notified police. She also was ordered to register as a sex offender.

Susan Eble, 35: Former teacher's aide is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy.

Tara Lynn Crisp, 29: Police allege she had sex with a student at least three times beginning when he was 14.

Toni Lynn Woods, 37: Middle-school teacher in Braxton County, W.Va., confessed in 2005 to having sexual intercourse with three juveniles a total of four times and oral sex with one of those juveniles and another juvenile a total of four times. She reportedly described herself as a "monster" when she pleaded guilty. She resigned, surrendered her teaching certificate, and was given consecutive sentences of one-to-five years on four counts of third-degree sexual assault.

Traci Tapp

Traci Tapp, 28: Gym teacher at Hammonton High School in New Jersey accused of sexual contact with three male students, including having sex in her home multiple times in one night with a 16-year-old. In January 2006, she avoided any jail or probation time by admitting inappropriate touching, but she lost her teaching license.
