when you buy the game, it comes with a help file to help you know what column stands for what category, i.e. team, position, etc.

It'a actually not the help file. You access that information by opening the player file generator.

by the way, it would be impossible to get all the contracts right, but some people might want to give Bears DE Adewale Ogunleye the big extention he signed after the acquired him. He still has the tiny one-year contract in the player file.

Also, Jake Delhomme is set to become a free agent after 2004 in the player file. He signed a five-year contract extension on June 17, 2004. The deal locks him in with the Panthers through 2009 and is worth $38 million including $12 million bonus, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Also doesn't include these new contracts:
RB Ladainian Tomlinson
QB Chad Pennington
DE Aaron Schobel
WR Chris Chambers
LB Tedy Bruschi
LT Matt Light
FS Jermaine Phillips
LB Kieth Bullock
.

Note: Peyton Manning doesn't show a bonus in the last year of his contract. In fact, none of the players with 7-year deals show a bonus in the final year. Not sure if this is an input error or whether they are like this because the CBA expires or something else.
edit: added Alge Crumpler's new deal.

To my knowledge the corrections haven't been made. You need to make the edits in the .csv version and then use the player file generator to make it into an .ftd file that can be used witht he game. The starting year should be 2004.

thanks..
this is time consuming to edit it in .csv...i have to scroll the whole player list to find the name of the player to correct his postion and salary ..wish there was a faster way..
but i guess it will be worth it when all done

There was a way.....back in FOF4. But for some unknown reason a very good player file editor that would have made these changes extremely easy was removed from the FOF2004 version of the game.

good news
get the fof2004 editor i found here
its much easier to edit the nfl2004playerfile.fdt file and then make your corrections that people posted here...

Note: Peyton Manning doesn't show a bonus in the last year of his contract. I'm assuming it should be 373.
This year bonuses (bonus'?) are only pro-rated over 6 years, not 7.

so Peyton Manning should have no bonus on 7th year like it was originally?
what about the other salaries for the players above...should i put the bonus on the 7th year to zero and keep the rest the years bonus year 1-6 as it shows above?
thanks
