As lame as they are, they need some filler to take up 24 hours. The structure of the show dictates that some crap is going to have to be thrown in. There have been weak sub-plot all four seasons. But the second they get back to Jack, it's all worth it.

I haven't seen last night's episode yet, so they might have artificially gotten around that little bit of stupidity, but if the thing would have to break through a firewall to gain control, then the method of control would seem to be via the internet. It is just about the stupidest thing I have seen since they plugged a Macintosh into an ancient egyptian relic in Stargate.

Just saw last night's episode, and I'm still in, eventhough the nuclear Holocaust thing is annoyingly stupid. Luckilly it looks like they will solve it within the next three hours/episodes, two if we are really lucky. Maybe Edgar will pull something out of his arse.

I liked the way they brought Almeda back, in that it was exciting, but it is a bit annoying that he can drop three terrorists in three seconds when two seasons ago he was a computer geek setting up ports, channels, and bandwidth with the rest of the techies. Hell Jack should have called Chloe too, so she coulda opened up a can of whoopass.

So Almeda's return was exciting but annoying. I'm thinking it's because his character was a traitorous bastard the last season. Yeah. I'm pretty sure that is what it is.

And frankly that was a lot more convincing portrayal of how a desk jockey would perform in the field. In this episode, he leads a single handed rescue. A regular one man rapid response team.

And besides, he's a traitor, and in the previews for next week, he carps about how people think he's a traitor.

Well at least thank God we aren't seeing the Kim from the second or third seasons. Although she did participate in an all time great 24 scene.

Well, the only thing I can figure is, that somehow, after the whole 'pulling out of the election' thing at the end of last season, he reached some sort of deal with the new President to become Vice-President, or a member of his Cabinet. To the best of my knowledge, they have not yet shown the new Vice President, and have hardly named all the members of his Cabinet. Sounds far-fetched but then what on this show at times does not?

I originally thought the plan was going to be to hijack the plane used to refuel AF1, and then use that to bring it down. But while I'm not sure what type of plane that guy was piloting (it might be an F-117 like you said), it sure looked more like a stealth bomber than what could be used to refuel a plane while in mid-air.

Of course, now I'm wondering why that plane was originally intended to be flying. It wasn't stolen...the (real) pilot had some sort of job to do. Remember how it was cleared for takeoff? What could a stealth bomber be doing during a national emergency? Is AF1 supposed to be receiving some sort of escort due to the threat, and this plane was one that was to be used?

In this episode, they (CTU) said they found her body, so I think she is dead.

I think you are right. There has to be something on Airforce-1 that is of utter importance besides the President. What will that do for the terrorists, by killing the president, the VP would take over. Gotta think outside of the box, as in there is something that is on AirForce-1 that they can use to destroy us, I don't think their plan is to just kill the president. Nuclear Codes perhaps?

regular for this season i mean. particulary the CTU unit. the whole CTU team kinda change over accept for Edgar he was there from day 1 this season and Choloe coming back. the rest that started this season is not there. i can understand if they die but they didnt. only the black girl die who was bad anyway.

there was no reason to replace most of the CTU personal that started this season and bring back most of the people back from last season. unless it was plan or because the CTU unit that started the season was not doing well with the audience and they wanted to bring back the old favorites from past seasons back.

I've noticed they are playing pretty fast and loose with the whole "real time" thing this year. Either that or CTU is within a 5 minute drive of pretty much any part of LA.

They seemed to follow it a little more religiously in the first season, really trying to keep things as "real time" as possible. They are clearly slipping nowadays, but oh well... You've got to let a lot of things slip when watching this show.

I didn't love last night's episode all that much either. As for the attack on the consulate, I was thinking along opposite lines. Perhaps the actually "breaking in" (getting through the door) part was a little easy, but to actually think that the Chinese consulate would have sentries patrolling the hallways like it was some Bondian villian's HQ is a bit ridiculous. I have been to consulates/Embassies before. Other than US embassies, which are pretty heavily guarded (though I would imagine no sentries), most embassies/consulates are little more than glorified offices.

I enjoyed the finale. Agree that it was predicatable; Mandy using her neighbors, Michelle pondering suicide, etc. I was watching it with a couple of friends and the shooting down of the missle was VERY anti-climatic; however, with all that said the Chinese storyline got really good and I can't wait to see where Jack goes next. He's already been to Mexico once and last time he became a heroine addict. I thought he might call Kim so Cuthbert could get a cameo but he called Palmer instead. :(
