One thing my wife noticed: the "in" look for actresses this year seems to be fair (almost pale) skin. Johanssen, Zellweger, Barrymore, Blanchette, Dunst - all looked quite fair (add Kidman to that probably, though I haven't seen her yet). This seems to amuse my wife (who is a redhead with very fair skin).
Seems that the general look is trending to the 40's to me as well.

One thing I do like is how they give awards to all the people behind the scenes. I would love pale skin to be the look. Personally, I hate a tanned look.
Let's agree to disagree or else we won't be friends anymore.

The awards went overall a lot better than I thought they would. I figured Aviator to win Scorsese for Director and for best film. Very glad it didn't though.
Would love to see Scorsese get an Oscar, but he didn't deserve it here...how he didn't get one when he did, I'll never understand.
I don't think Hotel Rwanda EVER played around here, which sucks..I'd really like to see that, big Don Cheadle fan.
Has anyone seen Downfall? That movie about Hitler? Something I've been wanting to see, I've heard it's quite good a couple places.

Me and the wife won the Oscar pool at a party (I didn't go, but helped her pick the winners over the phone).
$115 richer. WooHoo!

How the hell does someone who was once on 90210 AND is married to Chad Lowe become a 2-time Oscar winner?
Screw Kurt Warner. This chick has lived the true "against all odds" life...
Oh, come on... Jamie Foxx was in "In Living Color". That's worse. The funny thing was in the Golden Globes him and Carrey, another ILC cast member were nominated for best actor.
Anyway, glad Clint won. Love everything he touches. If Scorcese got it for the Aviator it would have been more of a lifetime achievement (so I've heard). Though apparently Blanchett was deserving.
Btw, REALLY hate the pale, not-eating-a-thing look. Meh.

I think it's awesome that two former In Living Color vets are "serious" actors these days. And Depp isn't exactly chopped liver either and I like that, too.

He looked like he had more than "a few".
I agree with ct. I would rather have the pale look be "the look" than the tanned look. Tanned skin just doesn't do it for me. I don't know. I just don't seem to be attracted to girls who feel the need to slowly cook their skin to look good. But, I would rather girls just stick to the color their skin natually is. When they try to darken their skin through tanning/make up or lighten it by make-up, It's just meh.
Anyway, Renee Zellweger looked absolutely hideous tonight. Selma Hayek on the other hand....damn she's hot. Catalina Sandino Moreno ain't too shabby either. *rowr*

I disagree. ILC didn't take itself seriously - it was a sketch comedy show. 90210, on the other hand...

I think it's a terrible award show, and its votes are nincompoops, because I, as a rank amateur in this field, disagree with the winner of one or more awards.
hahahaha! Thanks for a good laugh early in the morning.

Lets face it, the show/awards have gone downhill since they robbed "Leonard Part 6" from the Best movie award.

I would separate the two...I don't think Johanssen, Dunst or especially Barrymore have ever been accused of being too thin. Zellweger of course is up and down for roles anyway. And yeah, she's looking...interesting these days. The black hair, the red dress, the cheeks that force her eyes closed...I think she's contemplating changing her name to Donna Chang.

Barrymore, at least, looked waaaay too skinny. I didn't see the other too.

So what? I expect better acting talent to arise from the O.C. than from Reno 911!

Really? Not me. Not with all of the comedians who cross-over. Sketch comedy is what it is, and doesn't necessarily reflect the participants' acting abilities. Shit like The OC, OTOH, is supposed to be "acted". And it's done pretty poorly, from the little I've seen. But maybe that's just the ridiculousness of the scripts, I don't know.

I'm sad Hotel Rwanda didn't get any awards. That was the best film of the year.
Agree with you. Best movie I've seen in a long time. I was really pulling for Don Cheadle.

And Depp isn't exactly chopped liver either and I like that, too.The emergence of Carrey and Foxx as serious actors, combined with Jennifer Lopez and the continued success of the Wayans brothers, has moved In Living Color into "holy crap, where did all those stars come from" territory alongside the 1994 Expos.

He was nominated for that one too (and it was up for best picture). Again, just wait for next year. He'll get a Oscar nomination for "What Came Out of My Bowels."

I happened thru the room where my wife was watching. I managed to get through the opening monologue (I guess that's what it was) from the bit about Wait for the stars thru Fahrenheit 9/11 bit to the end of the Passion of the Christ bit.
Political stuff masquerading as humor at the Oscars, what a shock. I'd say Rock is one-and-done as host.
I'm not so sure about CR and one and done (though I agree the Bush stuff was unfunny--but I did like the bit about the next black movie being titled Check Cashing Place).

I still think that its all a sham. With films like The Passion and Farenheit 911 not being considered for nomination. Another snub was The Motorcycle Diaries which I felt was the best movie of the year.
