agreed. the two of them are both classy guys, and I think Markus was just pointing out that press releases have a tendency to be "sensationalistic" (if that's even a word, sorry my brain is fried right now). If you notice, Shaun posted quickly after Markus's initial post and then Markus fired back a clarification. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill, it's apparent these two have no bad blood, and I think there is more than enough room in the market for 2 text sims in any sport.

Markus is pretty cool actually ... I've been working with him for a while now and can safely say that I haven't heard any whining from him at all ...

I do think he finds the PR side of the industry somewhat bemusing at times though (which is what I think he was trying to get across in his post) .....

Every game ever released will always claim to the the best thing since sliced bread, simply because it'd be commercial suicide to indicate otherwise ... the only people who can really indicate this sort of thing imho isn't the publishers/PR people but the people who play the games themselves.

While I am sure that's true, I was just talking about Markus's response there, not the overall PR approach of the support communities of the games. For what it's worth, I still have never played PS (can't stand that it doesn't have full minors, or at least not last I checked), and have owned every OOTP since OOTP@, despite my objections at points to the game design.

I am doing well. Working a lot. Obviously can't hang out online as much as I like. How are you doing, Steve?

I agree. This tells me that Puresim has finally gotten to a level where it is up there with the best. It sounded to me at least like Marcus might be a little nervous about competition regardless of what he said later in the thread. Not a big deal though.

I didn't get that at all. I can't say I blame him for objecting to a press release posted on his own message board stating that another game was better. I agree that all press releases have that kind of hyperbole in them, but that doesn't mean he can't question its veracity. It would be another deal entirely if he came to an independent site, say here, and made the same remark.

Just so I don't look like a jerk, I wanted to be clear that the press release was *not* posted to the OOTP board. I'm already shameless enough posting all my PureSim propaganda here, but that would have been a bit much :) Whenever I do have to answer a question on OOTP's board I do so and then include a link to the PureSim discussion board so we can continue any discussions in a more appropriate forum. OOTP discussion on the PureSim board and vice versa are always going to take place.

Markus and I have always gotten along fine and we continue to. We have had many more conversations than the ones you see on message boards!

I think Markus at SI and PureSim at Matrix are good for our little niche in general and I know Markus recognizes that fact as well. I sort of compete with OOTP and root for it at the same time if that makes any sense in a crazy sort of way? For example, had there not been a Baseball Mogul (really the one we all owe a LOT too) and an OOTP then PureSim would likely never have gotten this opportunity.

Now I think it is time for this thread to die (please).
