And as I sit here with my butt length blonde hair tied in a not drenched with olive oil and stuffed into a grocerybag.."It really is the best conditioning treatment for hair ive ever found...A trick I learned from my days when I use to model, bout the only thing that saves your hair from the constant blow drying , flat irons and curling rods involved with the job ...And a treatment I highly recomend for you Farrah, post babys birth , After my last baby was born 5 months ago "Scarlett" my hair started falling out by the droves and that is not a very nice thing, with hair as long as mine , I was stuck cleaning out the vacumn's roller bar on the daily basis practicaly..
Anyway im thinking all of you should be thankful that there is not a camera aimed at me now because the sight of me with my bag squashed over my head would probably scare grown men ........... :D

capsicum, just take it in stride. I seem to recall that what got people riled up on your arrival was those near-trolling posts that caused many to think that you were a wig-incarnate. That is why I find it funny that you are bothered by it when that is what you managed to do with your first few posts. Since you have toned down, you seem cool, but you definitely started off on the wrong foot and I think that may be why people are quick to jump on your case whenever you post something (just like when you posted a recipe thread and got jumped on about an existing thread).

No I think it was the Taliban and Democrats comparison. I don't think the posting of the story was a problem at all. If liberals can make tongue-in-cheek comments about Bush being a Nazi, then what's wrong with making a similar jest towards the other side of the political scale? Honestly, I think wayyy too much is being made of that.

It wasn't really that. What bothered a lot of people was that even if it was a joke, it showed that in her rush to make the joke--it gave everybody the impression that she didn't read the article. That's okay, we all make mistakes of misattribution and such sometimes--and we get called on it on this board, then we (usually) admit it. She kind of backed off her initial comments without actually admitting anything, I thought that was a little weak. But again, we all have been guilty of that on this board at some point.
Also, with that said, I don't think she deservered the (temporary) banning that she got based on speech alone (though I do understand SkyDog's reasons for doing so). I do have a high tolerance for provocative speech from any side of the aisle--I've never reported anyone nor have I put anyone on ignore on this board...

This is such a soap opera...Im going to try to explain myself here and what my intensions were ,im not sure what you are waiting for me to admit tho Klinglerware. I usually try to be good about admitting when im dead wrong about something. The whole reason I went back and qualified my original statement is because I realised people were somehow outraged over my comment instead of what it was. "Turn about being fair play."
I really dont understand when people say,"because of the fact that you are new , we didnt understand where you were comminng from." I think my signature clearly shows that im a conservative republican. Which is why, when I made my comment, It was mearly my way of turning back some of the similar comments made by staunch Democrats. I had thought I was being fairly obvious in my intensions.
I make no bones about the fact that im a dyed in the wool republican and a George W. Bush suporter, and in saying that , I believe that people should have realised that I was mearly repeating a similar attack on democrats that i'd been watching liberals hurl at republicans in all the politically based threads for days .
I too never considered complaining or whinning about others comments or requesting theyre banishment , believing as I do, in the right of free speech.
So saying I do believe that the priveledge of free speech is wayyyy overused..Just my opinion of course. Just because something is legal dosent make it necessarily the right thing. I to admit to being guilty of its overuse. Only a persons conscience is able to dictate what is right. To further qualify this, and hopefully to prevent a whole new bag of beans being opened up... Im not saying there should be legal limitations to free speech.
I think after having gone thru this whole fiasco that having clearly posted rules for banishment not to mention protocol for deciding whether or not a person has committed said offense/s , and not just a slidding scale of whatever the particular moderator happens to feel about a person, would greatly improve this forum and help protect people from having to go thru any similar misunderstandings in the future.

Thanks for your reply. To be specific, I guess that I was bothered by the whole equating President Talabani (a Kurd) with the Taliban group (Afghani). If you were purposefully going for a pun on the Talabani name, I apologize--but it is easy to see why the joke could be misinterpreted as "you didn't read the article".
In any case, I just thought I'd explain what I was thinking when I saw the comment...
Since I am currently unmarried, I can't really contribute a wife pic. Oh well, maybe next year...

Neither do I..
Your hair falls out a few months post-partum because it slows or ceases falling out when you're pregnant. It's just your body getting rid of the extra hair. Sorry but no olive oil in the world is gonna prevent that.

As many pictures as I have of myself, just about the only pictures I have of my wife are from our wedding and from her graduation. I have a couple more from when I was just goofing off with my camera, but I don't have many. I need more pictures of her. Yes. Yes, I do. Anyway, in the meantime, here's a picture that some of you have seen before and is about three years old. My wife had more hair then.

Good eye. For a couple halloweens in fact :) My wife and Andrew do indeed share a passion for all things Spider-Man. She told me she watched it with him in the afternoon when he was about a year old (1997-98) instead of watching some of the asinine afternoon talkshows that were on. :)
Andrew's interest in Spider-Man has sort of faded recently, especially since the release of SW: Episode III. Since that moment, he and the wife are into a major Star Wars trip, watching one of the three originals on rotation every weekend :)
He wants to be Darth Vader for Halloween this year :)

Well since I was given the okay to post a pic of the wife (Dodgerchick), she has allowed me to only post this one pic of her and the kids. This was at "Rawhide" (a tourist spot that recreates a western town). I personally like the pics with her hair down, but she insisted that this be the only one to post.

Your Andrew and my Andrew have a lot in common, it seems. My Andrew is so obsessed with Star Wars that he will sing the John Williams orchestral pieces at the top of his lungs as sort of his own personal soundtrack. Not just when he's playing Star Wars... when he's getting dressed, eating breakfast, etc.
And for God's sakes... don't buy the LEGO Star Wars game for your child. He will (and your wife too) become addicted.

It seems so that they do indeed have a lot in common. Everytime I see one of your post relating to something your Andrew did, I pretty much always can translate it to something ours does :) Andrew translates his SW addiction in doing the lightsaber sound and making fake lightsaber fights with about anything that resembles a sword (unopened umbrella, plastic baseball bat, flashlight, name it). And since he's been doing kenpo for a few years now, he sometimes incorporates kicks and punches in his choregraphy. I can simply sit there, in hiding, watching him fight imaginary evil. Too cute :)

Err, good advice, simply a bit too late. We are doomed. Didn't help that the wife, in the good maechanical engineer that she is, was already addicted to legos, but when SW legos came through the door, well, that was it... :D

Can't tell if he's been to the Hasbro one in particular, but yeah, he's been to SW sites, pointing out stuff he'd want us to buy. He showed me this Darth Vader halloween costume that was selling for an ungodly price, something like $65. To me, that's 65 US dollars, or about 258 CANADIAN DOLLARS!!!! (seriously, it's a little over 80 bucks canadian, but still way too much for a frigging costume)

My Andrew, at 8, is getting to the point that I'm starting to watch where he's going on the net. He spends a lot of time playing on the lego website. They have some pretty well done online game, mainly in for their Racers series. And he also likes to browse their Bionicle section.
As for the PC game, I may have to look into it. I know you warned me, but it could make for a nice Xmas gift. At least one that doesn't take up too much room in the already crowded playroom :) The fight could be about time spent on the computer, but we have a 30-45 minutes per day limit which Andrew is quite accustomed to, hehe...

not really, although there are some weird lego sites, but he's started writing about anything that comes to his head in the address field of the browser, thus taking him to many weird search engine sites. For example, somebody may have registered a site called www.spidre-man.com (http://www.spidre-man.com) (it's not the case in this case, but note the inversed "r" and "e") and it takes him to a search engine with a ton and a half of links to commercial sites about spider-man and other stuff... Never too young to start monitoring...

My daughter's been reading for several years, actually. Hell, my wife and I had to stop spelling things to each other before she even turned 4. She's the youngest in her 1st grade class, yet reads at a 4th grade level.
I guess she just isn't as curious about those kinds of things. Either that, or she hasn't made the connection. I think what helps is that I've bookmarked and placed as an icon on the desktop several of her favorite sites, so she has never, to my knowledge, even attempted to type in a website address. Also, most of her time on the computer is spent playing games.

No, quite unlike me, she actually says things like, "Please turn down the music, it's hurting my ears!" So I don't think she goes for most of my music. I burned my daughter a CD with the Beatles, Cars, Collective Soul, Ben Kweller, and Doug Powell tracks on it. Sadly, no Dimmu Borgir tracks made the final cut.

many home have one yeah, as surprising as it may be. :) I've been thinking about that, the reason why, with about 2.5 months of usable time, so many people have a pool in their backyards. I came to the conclusion that, with Winters so cold and that seem to last so long (snow on the ground from December to sometimes May), people feel like they just have to enjoy as much good time outside as they can. I think it's for tha reason that we have more people that have a pool than people who have air conditioning on their house...
