Packers are killing themselves with penalties. A ton of penalties. The Lions defense is holding up pretty well.
The Lions can't move the ball either. Some very questionable 3rd down play calling. Joey not getting a lot of time, but not looking great when he does actually get time. Roy Williams has caught 2 passes. Mike Williams and Charles Rogers combined have caught ZERO.

Because they lost in Detroit you think they would go 1-15? That's dumb. The Packers lose in domes much more then they win. It's been that way since Favre has been at QB, and why should it change now?
The Packers problems were actually from areas that no one focused on when they point out their weaknesses. THe DB's played fairly well, except for the penalties. The two guards played fine, although there were a couple problems.
What drove me nuts about the Packers play was two things, clearly the penalties were just horrible today. The other is this crap about calling for a 2-4 yard pass when it is 3rd and 6-8 to go. If they didn't call the short pass, they went for a 30 yard pass. That happened time and time again, drove me insane.

Wow. You lost to your mom? That is unacceptable. Then again, you do live in Wellesley so...
yeah, well the lack of any substantial points by Ahman Green (8) and Ryan Longweil (goose egg) is what's going to do me in. That plus the fact that she has McNabb and I have TO so I won't gain many points there probably...

Today's example of how the NFL changes from year to year:
Pick #1 - 49ers beat Rams (playoff team)
Pick #2 - Dophinis beat Dolphins (playoff team)
Pick #5- Bucs beat Vikings (playoff team).
3 of the 5 worst teams last year all beat playoff teams from a year ago.

Wellesley? Definitely. Lady H_B went to Wellesley. Been on the virtual tour of the campus a few times (saw "Mona Lisa Smiles" on a airplane too), never yet been there in person.

Just like I thought, the defense is going to be the key to the season. Our linebacking core is severly underrated. Also, watch out for Arnez Battle. This guy is going to make some big plays for the Niners this season.

I can't believe that Martz did not kick the FG on that 4th down play late in the game. Lucky for him they scored a TD or else he would have had to answer some questions why he didn't go for the FG when the NEEDED two scores.

Walker will miss the rest of the season, not just 'may'.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Javon Walker is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, coach Mike Sherman confirmed after the team’s 17-3 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Walker caught a deep pass from Brett Favre and was tackled by Lions cornerback Fernando Bryant midway through the third quarter.
He suffered what Sherman described as a torn ACL.

If you mean harmless in that it looked legal, then yeah. But you could see his leg bending at the knee in a bad way. It wasn't nasty looking though, so I wasn't thinking it would be this bad.

You're right it was Holt.
Things just happen around this guy. Walker gets hurt. Kennedy intercepts the ball, it flies into the air and right into Holt's hands. He picks off the pass in the endzone. It's ood.
I found the ruling on Kennedy odd. I'd bet dollars to donuts that if Holt hadn't caught the ball out of mid air and it had hit the turf, they would have ruled that an incomplete pass. As called, however, it was an interception by Kennedy, a fumble, and a fumble recovery by Holt.

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/9">ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli (http://www.kffl.com/link/17) reports the Minnesota Vikings (http://www.kffl.com/team/23/nfl) have released WR Koren Robinson (http://www.kffl.com/player/1726/nfl), but only for the weekend. He was one of several vested veterans league wide who were released Saturday, Sept. 10, for salary cap and payroll purposes. Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, a vested veteran, a player with four or more seasons accrued toward the NFL (http://www.kffl.com/team/77/nfl) pension plan, is guaranteed his full base salary for the year if he is on an opening-day roster. To avoid the guarantee, teams often release fringe vested players before the start of the season, then re-sign them after the opener. He is expected to be re-signed next week.

And so why do you think Koren is 'out there' for Green Bay to pick up? There was a reason Koren went with the Vikings in the first place. Well, perhaps the Packers will make a push for the guy. There is now a need, where last week there was none. Maybe Koren wasn't happy he was cut. Who knows? Granted, the odds he'll just re-sign with the Vikings tomorrow (or already has) are probably pretty good, but he is certainly "out there" as in a "free agent available to sign with any team he so chooses."

It also looks like they may hold off on signing a WR. Driver moves to his former #1 receiver spot. Ferguson is #2. Instead of Chatman being #3 like I thought he would be, it looks like the rookie Terrance Murphy will be #3, health permitting. Then Chatman will stay at #4.

The unfortunate case of domestic abuse he committed during this rookie season is the only thing preventing me from making Larry Johnson my personal football god.
Another "unfortunate" case
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2160514
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Running back Larry Johnson was arrested Monday night after an altercation with his girlfriend early Saturday morning at a Kansas City bar, the latest in a series of troubles with the law for Kansas City Chiefs players.
Police Department spokesman Darin Snapp said Johnson turned himself in and was cited for domestic abuse assault. Johnson posted bond and was released, with a court date set for Sept. 20 on the misdemeanor charge.
Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil, who said he only learned about Johnson's arrest on Tuesday, said his players know that anything they do -- or are accused of doing -- will be magnified because of who they are.
"I think we do as good as the best job in the National Football League of making sure players are aware of their vulnerability, their profile," Vermeil said. "There's no place to hide in Kansas City. Our fans know our players. To use common sense and to be aware of the problem areas. Stay out of the bad areas. Be aware of certain things."
Vermeil said the incident will not affect Johnson's standing with the team.
Chiefs President Carl Peterson said he didn't know much about the accusation and wouldn't talk about it until he knew more.
Snapp said the girlfriend came into the bar and saw Johnson with a different woman. The 25-year-old girlfriend, of Overland Park, Kan., saw Johnson and walked the other way, Snapp said, but Johnson text messaged her on her phone and asked her to meet him downstairs.
The running back then grabbed the woman by the arm and pulled her to the front door, Snapp said, where Johnson asked the manager to make her leave. The manager said he couldn't do that.
Snapp said Johnson became irate after his girlfriend confronted his date. The running back grabbed the victim by the shoulders and shoved her, causing her to fall onto the floor, the police report said.
The girlfriend told The Kansas City Star, in a story on its Web site, that the police report was wrong and denied that she was pushed or dragged to the door. Snapp said the woman told police she didn't want Johnson arrested, but instead just wanted the incident documented.
Friends convinced the woman the next day to file a police report after seeing bruises on her arms, Snapp said.
Johnson ran for 110 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Jets the next day.
He is the latest of several Chiefs players who have gotten in trouble with the law either at bars or the result of alcohol.
During training camp, backup quarterback Todd Collins was involved in a melee at a restaurant and bar near River Falls, Wis.
In earlier incidents, kicker Lawrence Tynes was charged with breaking a bouncer's nose in a River Falls bar fight. Defensive tackle Junior Siavii and safety Greg Wesley also were arrested during camp after allegedly getting into a drunken confrontation with police in a Minneapolis hotel.
