A no brainer gambling pick or a trap game?

Today's Lock: St. Louis Rams -6
NFL LOCK OF THE MONTH!
We pounded the table on ND yesterday - they not only covered the 7-point underdog spread, but won the game outright! What a LOCK!
Today we LOVE the Rams on the road in San Francisco as our September Lock of the Month. This game will count as 3 LOCKS, win or lose. Our Locks on the Month are money in the bank, in which you must be aware. San Francisco won't be able to handle the offensive attack of the Rams today. Steven Jackson, an incredible combination of strength and speed, will be too much for the Niners. He'll have a monster game, opening up the passing attack for Bulger, Holt, and Bruce. The 49ers have a defense that was ranked 24th overall in the NFL last season. Keep in mind that SF is still getting over the death of a fellow teammate, Thomas Herrion. The Rams are a LOCK!

WOW what a play from the dolphins!!

1-10-MIA18 (8:48) C.Chambers left end ran ob at DEN 21 for 61 yards. Chambers stepped out-of-bounds.

Too bad he stepped out just because touching the side line, he scored the TD.

He shook a guy off his ankle around the eight, ran threw a guy at four, eluded a third guy at the three and was dragged down at the one. I agree he was down before he got end. It didn't matter ... watching this game, do you think the Jets could stop Kansas City with two cracks for one yard?

Uhm, I refuse to throw 17 weeks of football talk into one thread, but we will address that later. :D

So far....

-J.P. Losman is looking good for Buffalo.
-Vikings suck :D But probably not enough to lose this game I am sure, and Sharper just backed that up.
-Bears first offensive play was a pass by Orton, nice try Bears.
-Chiefs are running up a storm.

-Sunday Ticket still rocks. Anyone checking out the free preview of the Super Fan add on for Sunday Ticket? That music on the multi-game channels is horrible. The Red Zone channel is cool though. And having just found out that they will repeat the games is an excellent feature. I still won't pay the extra $100 though.

Jets D sucks. They ever seventh in total yards last year, fourth in scoring. Despite the iffiness with Ty Law and John Abraham's rust, I have a hard time believing it's the Jets defense. It's the Chiefs offense.

After the Redskins kill themselves with a TD called back on a penalty, and then a fumble, I take this statement back.

Interesting note, safety Shawn Taylor was in at WR on the TD pass. He didn't get the TD catch that was called back though....

This is reminding me a lot of 2 years ago when the Chiefs tried to shore up the defense with McCleon, Barber, and Holliday and it looked like a really good way on paper to shore up the defense but nothing really changed. I'm really just getting that deja vu again- sure, they tried to improve things by replacing a lot of people but it's just not gelling at all.

The Chiefs -- especially Green -- struggled after Willie Roaf left with the hammy problem. Jordan Black has potential as a RT, but he's not ready to play LT. The Jets have been attacking on the edges. Be interesting to see what they come up with in the second half.

SI, I definitely see your concerns. I'm afraid Bell is going to disappoint big time. I think Surtain and Knight are nice upgrades, but the defensive line continues to be a trainwreck. I am impressed with Derrick Johnson so far. That guy has a motor on his ass. He gets out of position at times, but he's so fast that it almost doesn't matter because he can make it up. Jay Fiedler enters the blowout.

Surtain's injury is listed as "head trauma" -- they said he was questionable to return, so hopefully that will mean this isn't a serious concussion.

All I've heard about Roaf is a hamstring. Willie's a tough guy, so I'm hoping that they just decided since things were going well they'd give him the rest of a hot afternoon off and give the backups some playing time. Jordan Black could use the experience.

Richardson's injury concerns me. He's a key part of the blocking scheme, although they moved the ball pretty well without him. It appeared to be a knee problem, but he did walk off the field on his own.

Go Dolphins! :) Vonnie Holliday is one of the best opening-day players ever. When he came to Kansas City two years ago, he had three sacks on opening day. In his next and final 24 games with the Chiefs, he had 2 1/2.

The Miami/Denver game fascinates me. The Dolphins don't have much of a talent upgrade from last year -- on defense they are probably worse. Their biggest upgrade is Saban. So was today's result a tribute to Saban's ability to turn things around, an indictment of the Broncos being frauds or merely an aberation? I'm leaning toward option two.

The Dolphins don't have much of a talent upgrade from last year -- on defense they are probably worse.

I dunno about this: the only guy we've lost without replacing is Surtain: our safety losses IMO have been balanced out with Schulters, Jones & Tillman, Crowder should by all accounts be an upgrade over Greenwood and the three guys above are all better than what we had last year (as Bowens/Chester barely played).

You could argue that Taylor, Thomas, Seau and Madison have all lost a step, but overall I would say we are aguably stronger overall, as the D line upgrade is more than the secondary loss.
