I don't see it. The Panthers have a weak offensive line, questions at running back, and a very suspect secondary. Add the Jenkins injury, and I was figuring they'd be a .500 team.

Taylor fakes a pitch to Matt Jones, and then does it later on the run for a fumble. Lucky Jones recovered it. Looks like a designed play though, Fred Taylor was looking for the pitch the whole time.
Getting tricky with Matt Jones. maybe one of my favortie players right now in the league.

I think it would be a mistake. The Eagles have an aggressive defense, you don't want to hurt your future franchise player's confidence like that.
Smith didn't look good in the preseason. He has a way to go. Remember, he came from Utah, and the level of competition he faced in college was much lower than most top quarterbacks. His development will take a couple of years.

I'm assuming that it is because he is likable off the field and has some friends, but I've never understood why the NFL puts up with cheap shots of Rodney Harrison. He's not as bad as Bill Romanowski, but I have no respect for Harrison as great a player as he is because he's such a cheap shot artist. Ripping Davis' helmet off is just the icing on the cake.

Every time Harrison does something like that, the referees watch him a little closer.
By and large, he's tuned down the nasty stuff in New England, but every once in a while, he pulls a stunt like that.
He is always around the ball. Just freakish in that respect. That's why Belichick puts up with it. But the act did wear thin in San Diego. They never would have let him go otherwise.

Well the Moss trade went down when the whole Reggie Fowler situation was up in the air. If anything, he may have had an impact on the trade.
But probably not, because he made it well-known that he was against any Moss trade. Odd, because the rumor outside Minnesota was that the prospective ownership wanted Moss gone and wanted it done on McCombs watch so that they wouldn't have to take the heat from the fans as part of the deal. That was during the timeframe of the aborted Fowler effort, I believe, but Fowler's still a part-owner, isn't he? But it makes you wonder exactly what involvement Wilf had or whether his private feelings are different than his public feelings.
Regardless, man the Vikings are sucking.

It was said earlier in the thread. Neither QB has any time at all to throw the football. Jax is playing NE style football against them. Aggressive, bump and run coverage, not a lot of blitzing. There are seemingly seven white shirts on every tackle. To put it simply, the Jags D looks almost exactly like the Pats D of the last couple of years.

Not saying he isn't Jim, but I'm just observing from the first two games of the year. IN both the Patriots offense has been MUCH better in the first half than the second. As the games have went along, the offense has gotten worse and worse.
Against the Raiders, I can understand it, the Pats were blowing them out and got a bit conservative. This week it's something they needed. Their first two drives of the second half netted 35 yards on 16 plays. That's not the adjustments I'm used to seeing out of them.

Can't argue with you there and if this were the first game of the year, I'd just chalk it up to a poor game by Brady. But the two things I took out of the first game they played this year was:
1) Dillon looks horrible.
2) The offense got worse as the game progressed against a pretty horrific defense.
Therefore those were the two things I had my eye on today. And bad game by Brady or not, I really expected improvement on both counts today. game isn't over and they can surprise me, but I'm not seeing a lot of open WR out there, I'm not seeing a running game and I'm not seeing this team adjust at all to the defensive schemes Carolina are throwing at them.
We'll see how all of these things look next week. I'm not saying they won't be fixed and I'm not saying the Pats won't end up winning it all off of just this. . . but it't really striking to me how bad they really look.
One more thing. . . while we know Brady won't be that bad all year, what's going on with Dillon? He looks horrible.

Tangling up a receiver and defenders legs has been called incidental contact for a couple years now. No Pass Interference. It has too be hands or intentional contact before the ball gets there for the ref to call it.
I thought Leftwich was done for the year when he bent back like that, amazing that he stayed upright. I thought they should have pulled him for Gerard, but he played well enough I suppose--even if it was against a prevent defense.

Boldin has a great catch in AZ. Hope they beat the Rams. Rams up 7-0 already though,.

Denver makes the stand and forces the punt. They get the ball back on their own 45.
6 minutes left in Q1, Denver has had the ball for 7 minutes, the Chargers for 1 minute. need another time consuming drive here, one that picks up points. This altitude is not a good place to leave your D on the field for a long time.

Denver just spreading the Charger defense out. Lots of 3 and 4 WR sets, spreading the Chargers out. The O-Line looks strong. Plummer is sharp. Tis early, really early, but they look better than last week.
Ron Dayne gets his first carry as a Bronco, 1 yard. Giants fans remember a lot of that, huh?

Lets see, the Lions really sucked today, and now the Browns are moving the ball on he Packers and may score here.
Ok, I guess I will believe the Packers defense blows. :(

Dilfer with the TD pass. No one covering some guy named Steve Heyden. Way to go defense.

Charles Lee drops a TD pass by Warner. Cards kick a FG to make it 7-3 Rams. Under three mintues left in the first of the Broncos/Chargers game. So far LT hasn't touched the ball once, Denver has had the ball for 11 minutes, the Chargers 1 minutes. And it's only 3-0 Denver.
Happy about the TOP, but this should be a 10-0 game right now, at least.

The Jets offensive line seems to have reverted to 2003 form (cannot run block, can pass protect).

Heiden had 28 receptions for 5 TDs last season. But keep not covering him in the red zone, we don't mind.
Hey Brett - thanks for the pick.

They need to check Chad Pennington for a Futurama-style Brain Slug. He's just not the same QB.

Excellent news! From the numbers Frerotte looks to have started well again? And our stupidly overpaid kicker misses from 21 yards - I could make that with a fag in one hand and a beer in the other

How fast are the Bronco LB's? Chargers just lined up in a 4 WR set (with Gates as the fourth wideout) and the Broncos stayed in a base defense. Gates with a 12 yard catch on thrid down, first down Chargers.
Another big third down catch by Gates to end the quarter. Chargers in Denver territory as Q1 ends.

Hey Brett - thanks for the pick.
Not really Favre's fault in the way of a bad throw. It was a great defensive play.

Frerotte looked alright until the red zone. The kick wasn't really Mare's fault. It was an awful hold, he had to kind of stutter-step and delay to get the kick off, then just didn't have enough leg into it because of his slowed-down approach.
