View Full Version : WWE Raw Where is it?

Obviously I don't watch wrestling that much anymore or I wouldn't have to ask this question, but I was going to tune in to see what the latest is with HHH, Bischoff, and Stacy Keibler and SpikeTV was showing CSI. I could probably do a google search and find out what happened quicker than I can type this message. But I am more interested in the back story. Why did RAW change channels? Is the TNA becoming any sort of force causing the switch? Are the wrestlers still split up between two non-interacting shows? Any one know?

The contract with Spike TV, ran out, and Spike didn't want to renew at the price WWE wanted, so they're back on USA.

all i know is it switched back to USA and Spike picked up TNA instead. I'm thinking that Vinnie Mac prolly wanted more $$ than Spike was willing to pony up, but I havn't watched in forever so i'm not sure if they "recombined" the shows or what. I did see that Austin is back in some capacity though.

What Fozzie said. And as for TNA, they're getting decent ratings on Saturday night and Monday night replays (atleast both sides are happy about the ratings). And TNA will now get a 2-hour special on Thursday, November 3rd @ 9pm ET... hopefully it does well and WWE actually tries with their show again. :P

I used order every year for the Survivor Series, the Rumble, and Wrestlemania without question. (legally) Then they got rid of the tag matches that defined the Survivor Series and lessened the meaning of the 30-man rumble and I was down to only one pay-per-view. That decision never seemed to make sense to me as the hardcore fans will purchase almost anything and I would think there were a lot of casual fans like me that liked the gimmicks and weren't willing to pay for regular matches. Especially the last 5 or so years where more happens on the free shows than the pay-per-views. Vince McMahon will go down in history as the having the best (Austin 3:16 seemed like almost the 4th major sport for a run there) and worst marketing plans (any of this shit the last few years) in the history of television.

haha. WWE was never quite as fun as when Austin would like...drive his MOFO truck into the Arena and sit in the ring and call out McMahon and just beat the crap out of people

I wish they had Demolition vs. The Road Warriors back in the 80s but it never happened. We did get to see The Powers of Pain vs. The Road Warriors though.

WWE has gone downhill in the past 6 - 7 years and its really sad. I used to watch it religiously but I see no point in it now...same ol shit...same ol pushes for the same ol shitty wrestlers.

Hey does anyone remember that old wrestling news website back in the 90s called scoops?

Nods.

The Hart Foundation angle was arguably the best in WWE history -- just perfectly executed every week for a good two or three months. Hard to believe what happened to those five guys over the last few years.

I'm guessing you're talking about Brian Pillman, the Anvil, Bulldog, Owen and Bret, right? Not The Hart Foundation tag-team.

That's pretty much Pro Wrestling Torch now.... www.pwtorch.com

Correct. The group that got over as the company's biggest heels in the US, while also being the biggest faces in the rest of the world. The five or six week story arc that saw Bret turn, followed by the reconcillation of Owen/Bulldog, the Austin streetfight and then the addition of Pillman and finally Anvil was just a masterpiece. The guys who write the current garbage should be forced to go back and rewatch it.

Re: Scoops, I remember it well -- did it really become pwtorch? I thought they were competitors back then.

they kinda merged a while back.

BTW, you better use Firefox or a damn good firewall when visiting the Torch or PWInsider. I've never seen two sites with more popups in my LIFE.

Definitely. Even then you get an occasional annoying popup breakthrough.

His DVD collection is coming out shortly - its his first involvement with the WWE since 1997 - should be very cool.

It was a good angle... but it got incredibly stupid when they involved them with The Nation of Domination.

-----

Wrestling was never as good as it was when I was in Junior High so that's like 7-8 years ago. DX, The Hart Foundation, E&C vs. The Hardyz, etc. in the WWF... and the nWo in WCW. Shawn Michaels & Bret Hart will always be the best in the world to me... but with Michaels it's the HBK of the good ol' days, not the born again Christian, that is all agreeable and nice backstage that exists today.

It's funny how wrestling has evolved in the last 10 years... the downfall of WCW was a result of wrestlers, like Hogan, running the company into the ground with their "creative control", and everyone knew this when it happened. The WWF rebounded in the Monday Night Wars because of Russo & his writing team, a team that had little input from the wrestlers compared to the way WCW was being run.

WCW blows up, ruining a once great company... Turner sold it to the WWF... and what did the WWF do? They started giving more and more control to the wrestlers because they couldn't find someone to replace Russo. Now we have Triple H turning into the new Hogan... And it's really a sad story because they do have ALOT of talent there that would be so much better with the right writers behind the secnes. But since they don't guys like Edge, Cena, Matt Hardy, Orlando Jordan, Batista, etc. will never reach the heights of an Austin, Hogan, Rocky, or HBK.

Actually I thought the whole "I hate America" angle was lame with The Hart Foundation. DX was okay, especially when Chyna got her implants.
