UTEP can wrap up CUSA West today with a victory against UAB today. So we already have plenty of incentive to go out there and play a good game, but you gotta love when your opponent gives you even more incentive with some serious bulletin board material... :D

Should be a great game down in lubbock today. I am hoping that OU can win today, and jump back into the top 25

Yeah, things are shaping up quite nicely for Rutgers to back into a bowl bid. Still, I really want them to win next week so that I can actually feel good about the season.

SU blocks the ND chipshot FG to keep the 3-0 lead. I called this yesterday at work, we'll be up by a few or close (within 7-10) for most of the game then get blown out in the 4th due to dumb mistakes. Hope I'm wrong but shaping up that way so far...

I have to firmly believe that the ref's did not cost OU this game. If you take care of business, then you should have nothing to worry about. OU had many attempts to stop TT from scoring to win, and they just could not get it done...

One question I have though. How hard would it be to put a camera at the 1st down marker on both sides of the field? If your going to use replay in football, you should at least have some cameras pointed at critical spots on the field...

My thoughts exactly. Hey, I agree that OU blew their chance in the game. But I firmly believe that both of those calls were bad ones. The tipped ball was a reception, but TT got a very good spot, better than it should've been. And they wouldn't overrule it for a few inches, but a few inches would've given the game to OU.

And from what I saw, Henderson was down before he extended that ball. I think if they had a camera on the other side, they'd see that he was short by several inches.

Oh ... My ... Goodness

Very late in the 3rd quarter, huge underdog Tabor leads Graceland by 10 & just forced their 4th turnover of the game, stopping a drive that had taken the ball inside the Bluejay 20.

Listen live at
http://www.tabor.edu/athletics/stream/tcfootball.asx

edit to add -- best I can tell from the p-b-p, Tabor scored 17 points in the 1st quarter, all set up by turnovers. It's 17-7, under a minute in the 3rd.

Damn ... while I'm typing, Graceland hits a 40 yd TD pass :(

JonInMiddleGA
11-19-2005, 04:02 PM
Still 17-14 Tabor ... Bluejays trying to grind it out, trying to keep the ball away from Graceland ... less than 6 minutes to play.

edit to add -- 4:55 left, back to back passing first downs for Tabor, catching Graceland off guard ... and now back to the run ... on 3rd down, Tabor decides to throw for the end zone & misses ... 3:08 left, 4th down ... ouch :( Missed a field goal ... Graceland ball at their own 24, 2 TO's left for them, none left for Tabor ... now 2nd & 7, misting rain ... incomplete swing pass, 3rd & 7 at the 27 ... WR hangs on after a big hit, 1st down at the 36 ... 2:40 left ... swing pass to the RB, gets a few & gets out of bounds ... missed tackle at midfield, Graceland all the way down to the 31 ... 1:51 to play ... WR open but drops it, 2nd down, 1:47 to play ... pass complete and DROPPED ... 3rd & 10 now ... Graceland takes a TO to avoid a motion penalty ... On 3rd & 10, got a man open at the 10 AND ITS THROUGH HIS HANDS ... 4th & 10 from the 31 ... Back to pass, scrambling, has to run ... he's close, he's SHORT !!! Stopped him at the 22 ! Bluejays ball !

1:22 to play ... hand off to Butler gets a couple of yards, Graceland takes their final timeout ... hand off to Butler, gets outside, forced out of bounds at the 30 ... 3rd down, clock stopped ... gives it to Butler, FIRST DOWN to the 35 ... 1:05 on the clock ... 1st KCAC playoff win since '98 ... Ishida takes a knee, gets ready to do it one more time ... It's over, Bluejays win !

10-7 Miami at the half. I am getting real tired of these slow starts especially by the O-line. It is like they don't get the idea until Kehoe starts throwing shit at halftime.

Ome more thing. Calvin Johnson would look real good in a Dolphin uniform in a couple years. He is a hell of a receiver

From the GT perspective, this thing seems like a ticking time bomb. Our O-line is completely outclassed, and as long as UM picks up the blitz, Wright will be able to find mismatches in the secondary.

That said, Eric Henderson is wearing out the left side of the Cane O-line.

No doubt. I don't know if Winston has recovered from his knee injury from last year but he has steadily regressed from a 1st round LT to a guy who may need to be switch to the right side or to guard

While it did look like a boneheaded play, it may have been a good one too..

There was a guy cruising in around the 5 yard line when the ball was still moving at a brisk pace on the 1-2 yard line, the ball could have taken a little higher hop allowing GT to slap it back in to the 1 yard line. The announcers were a little quick to call it a mental error.

Plus, the guy wanted to make something happen, which is what Miami needed big time.

I really wish I'd put money on the game. It had upset written all over it. GT has had a horrible week, with the probation and even their AD saying they shouldn't expect much from the team. It had to have the team itching to prove something. Whereas Miami wasn't feeling threatened at all.

Meanwhile, LSU quietly beats Ole Miss 40-7 and will move up one more spot with the Miami loss. If LSU wins out (they have to beat Arkansas at LSU Friday and then Georgia in the SECCG), and if anyone at the top gets upset, you could be looking at LSU in the Rose Bowl. An outside chance, sure, but possible. The name of the game is not to lose late in the season.

Agreed. I actually figured Miami had about a 50/50 shot at sneaking in if they had won out, figuring Texas still has the Big XII championship game (remember OU vs. Kansas State a couple years back?) and USC still has 2 teams with a combined 2 losses on their schedule.

That is possible, too. LSU folks are already crunching LSU and PSU BCS numbers. We could well have another BCS controversy if LSU and PSU win out and something happens to USC and/or Texas. Which counts more, hurricane sympathy for LSU or old coach sympathy for PSU? The SECCG also helps, assuming LSU beats Arkansas and can win the SECCG impressively (a very tall order indeed).

Well....keep in mind that the BCS computers have PSU 3rd already. I believe that you will see PSU 3rd in the BCS polls this week.

Also keep in mind that Alabama lost again today while Ohio State won,....that has gotta help with the computers

I expect more of the same.

PSU's regular season is done.

And that helps LSU if LSU continues to win. A big LSU win against Arkansas followed by a big win in the SECCG (a very big if, granted), just like in 2003, could give LSU just the edge it needs to take 2nd in the BCS rankings if Tx or USC lose (two more big if's). That would influence both human voters and the computers. And LSU continues to get better. The defense is very good right now, and the offense, though it continues to stumble, keeps showing flashes of greatness.

Who throws a shoe?
I had to do a double take on that myself. "Was that a shoe?", "Oh crap did Marshall throw that?"

Fresno is fired up. I was telling people earlier this week that if any team in college football could look past the Bulldogs, it would be USC.

Bush continues to be pretty amazing. How can Lienart continue to be considered the Heisman favorite when he isn't even close to the best player on his own team?

GoldenEagle

Memphis wins to keep the bowl hopes alive. If we beat Marshall at home next week, we will be going to a bowl game for the third straight year.

The Bookies in Fresno are hating life right now. The action was incredibly one sided, and the Dogs are up by eight at the half. The twenty four points SC was laying are looking awfully big right now.

USC makes adjustments at halftime better than any team I've ever seen. Last year, Stanford was up 28-17 at half and Trent Edwards was looking great. Then, USC turned it on in the second half and won. It happened against ASU, Oregon, and now Fresno.

I'd like to congratulate the Yale Bulldogs for actually making The Game a game this year.

Five in a row, baby!!!

Yeah, I went to the game today. As someone with no rooting interests on either side, it was a fun game to watch. There was of course the ambiance (rivalry game, crowd size that could reasonably pass for 1-A, ridiculous scramble bands, etc.). As for the game, the 4th quarter comeback made things interesting, and even though I'm not a big fan of OT, I have to admit that the triple overtime was riveting. By the third overtime, the sun had dipped below the horizon and we were wondering how much longer they would let the game go, since the Yale bowl does not have lights...

Oh yeah, congrats to the Brown Bears for taking their first outright Ivy football championship. Nick Hartigan, candidate for both a Rhodes Scholarship and the Payton Award, again had a monster game: 229 yards rushing and 3 TDs against hapless Columbia.
