I just got a new computer and i was going to use my old one for parts on other computers i have around the house but i have a question about the processor. is it possible to use my old processor as a slave to my new one? i thought i heard it was possible but i might have been mistaken. i hope so because i have 1.7ghz just sitting over there and i would like to use it? anyone here know about computer hardware that can answer my question please????? thanks in advance:)

Nope, you won't be able to use the old one, unless your new CPU is the exact same model and your motherboard can support 2 CPUs.

Depending on what you use the computers for it might be possible to set them up in a network and utilise the processor for some tasks.

For instance I use 'incredibuild' when compiling and it distributes my C++ builds between all the machines on the network which speeds things up nicely.
