Woot! just waiting for AE's confirmation. :)

Poli
03-06-2003, 12:12 PM
WOO! Good job Marmel! I hated throwing an easy one out there because of those nasty DH tribe members.

Anyway, have at it!

McSweeny
03-06-2003, 12:13 PM
wooohoo! no stopping the dolamites!

Marmel

The point in a lunar orbit that is farthest from the moon is called a(n) what?

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:27 PM
apogee?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 12:28 PM
Apogee? Damn you Blade!

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:31 PM
No, Blade.

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:32 PM
Apoapsis Altitude?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 12:33 PM
A lunar orbit that is farthest from the moon?

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:33 PM
Or Apocynthion?

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:34 PM
No Blade, you are very close and on the right track though.

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:34 PM
Apolune

Kodos
03-06-2003, 12:34 PM
apex?

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:36 PM
Blade, you are correct on apolune. Very well done. That was a tough one.

Dolas lead is cut to 22-14.

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:38 PM
C'mon DH's, we have to close this gap!

List one of the three original Latin forms of the Occam's Razor's principle: "Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily."

"Pluralitas non est ponenda sine neccesitate"

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:41 PM
Correct Marmel...

DH's are down 23-14. :(

McSweeny
03-06-2003, 12:43 PM

DH's are down 24-14 :p

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:44 PM
What date was Saturday mail eliminated by Canada Post?

McSweeny
03-06-2003, 12:45 PM
February 1, 1969

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:47 PM
Correct, McSweeny.

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:49 PM
Dola leads 25-14!

McSweeny
03-06-2003, 12:49 PM
25-14 dolamites in the lead

Don McLean wrote a song about painter Vincent Van Goug, what was the name of that song?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 12:50 PM

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:50 PM

McSweeny
03-06-2003, 12:51 PM

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:51 PM

McSweeny
03-06-2003, 12:51 PM
Blade is correct

25-15 dolamites

Kodos
03-06-2003, 12:52 PM

Kodos
03-06-2003, 12:52 PM
Damn!

Blade
03-06-2003, 12:57 PM
What engine powered the North American F-86D Sabre Jet Fighter in 1953?

Marmel
03-06-2003, 12:59 PM
General Electric J47-GE-13 turbojet engine with 2,681 kg (5,910 lb) of thrust

Marmel
03-06-2003, 01:00 PM
No, that was the 1948 one.

1953 used this engine:

G.E. J47-GE-17 turbojet engine

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:00 PM
Well, the source I found said 3026kg of thrust, but the engine type is correct...

26-15 dolamites

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:01 PM
The J47-GE-17, that is...

Marmel
03-06-2003, 01:05 PM
I like space/physics questions, so try this one:

The reflecting power of a planet or satellite, expressed as a ratio of reflected light to the total amount falling on the surface, is called the what?

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:05 PM
albedo

Marmel
03-06-2003, 01:06 PM
shit, that was fast. did you know that, or did you look it up blade?

26-16, Dolas!

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:09 PM
Can't lie, looked it up...

What is the difference in the composition of low tar cigarettes and normal cigarettes?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 01:10 PM
Less tar.

Marmel
03-06-2003, 01:11 PM
Low tar cigarettes have holes in the filter so that when someone puffs on one of these cigarettes they breathe in more air than someone smoking a normal cigarette with no holes or smaller holes in the filter. 10-15mg of tar is breathed in with a normal cigarette compared to 5mg of tar breathed in with low tar cigarettes.

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:12 PM
Sorry...may need to rephrase the question...it is possible to take in the same amount of tar with a low tar cigarette as a normal cigarette...why do low tar cigarettes generally allow a person to take in less tar?

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:12 PM
And Marmel is correct! I think we may be searching the same sources!

Kodos
03-06-2003, 01:12 PM
The difference is almost completely in the filter

Marmel
03-06-2003, 01:13 PM
27-16 dolas.

Time for a change in sources.

Be back with a question shortly.

Blade
03-06-2003, 01:13 PM

You guys better hope I don't get another one...if I do I am asking a question about what I work on!

Raven
03-06-2003, 01:55 PM
It's called the whispering wall because Joe Whisper named it after himself.

Marmel
03-06-2003, 01:57 PM
Not even close Mr. Raven. :)

Raven
03-06-2003, 01:59 PM

Poli

Drat, another rule I didn't know about!

Raven
03-06-2003, 02:05 PM
it's called the whispering wall becaused it was an alleged conspiracy

Marmel
03-06-2003, 02:08 PM

Marmel

Raven

Raven
03-06-2003, 02:11 PM

Poli

Marmel
03-06-2003, 02:21 PM

Ok, a question that I am comfortable with now, as a computer guy. I am currently studying to take the Certified Citrix Administrator exam, so here is a related question:

Where does the ICA Client Distribution Wizard place the update.ini file when it is run? This is for Citrix Metaframe XP 1.0.

Kodos
03-06-2003, 04:34 PM
In the trash can.

Blade
03-06-2003, 04:35 PM

03-06-2003, 04:35 PM

I understand Blade - I've been swamped at work for the last day and haven't had a chance to play as much as I'd like.

Blade
03-06-2003, 04:41 PM
No prob...just been tough trying to hold them back...especially back on page 2 or 3 of this thread when only Dolas were on, and they started to run up the score!

Kodos
03-06-2003, 04:41 PM
Swaggs and Raven had fun doing that last night as well.

SplitPersonality1
03-06-2003, 04:57 PM
Keep it up Dolas!

I'm off to a meeting, but I see that you guys are in control. Good work.

Blade
03-06-2003, 04:58 PM
Are PM's allowed if they do not contain the answer in any way? Or no collaboration at all?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:00 PM
Not if they direct him to where he might find an answer. But general strategy discussions are allowed, I believe.

Blade
03-06-2003, 05:01 PM
Ok, cool. So long as I do not direct anyone for where to find a correct answer or hint at the correct answer, I am good then?

Radii
03-06-2003, 05:02 PM
Marmel and I had our general discussion strategy in the middle of this thread earlier! Wusses PM'ing each other ;) (Note: I don't see why it would be a problem, the one time stkelly said it mattered he explicitly stated any strategizing must take place in public, I'm just giving you guys shit)

Blade
03-06-2003, 05:04 PM
Ok, cool...

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:04 PM
You're good to go.

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:07 PM
I guess I don't see problems with stratagizing with PMs

Marmel
03-06-2003, 05:08 PM
I would say relaying prior knowledge of what your question is going to be would be illegal to. For instance, If I pm'd Kodos and said, I am going to ask Who the Giant's QB is, in exactly 10 seconds, that would be an unfair advantage.

John Galt
03-06-2003, 05:09 PM
Is the answer C:\windows\biteme?

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:11 PM
Good point

You shouldn't be talking about what your question will be

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:13 PM
If you are using the PM to get someone's attention and basically say "help me out here" or let them know you are leaving and they should ask a tough question, or that you are there and they should ask an easy question, that I haved no problem with.

Radii
03-06-2003, 05:16 PM
I think the DH's should PM each other and say "lets give it up guys, those Dola's are just too tough for us" =D

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:18 PM

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:21 PM
10 minutes since john answered, so he is declared correct.

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:23 PM
Wait a second. Doesn't that rule only apply for players on opposing teams? Otherwise, just have your teammate answer, never say if it's wrong, and take your point...

Marmel
03-06-2003, 05:24 PM
Yeah! What Kodos said!

John Galt
03-06-2003, 05:35 PM
Rules are rules. :)

What movie is the character Lester Burnham from?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:36 PM
Jurassic Park.

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:37 PM
American Beauty.

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:38 PM
I hadn't really thought about it that way, but technically it is a stratagy that would work...but I don't like it.

I will give DH the point this time but from here on you can only get the point that way if your teammate who answered the question is no longer listed in "who's online"

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:40 PM
People can just use the Hide from Who's Online feature then.

Blade
03-06-2003, 05:47 PM
Sorry guys, didn't mean to start something...I had to drive home from work, and I didn't want to give up a point if a Dola answered and I could not say no to it.

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:48 PM
You are no longer allowed to use the stratagy where you just don't tell people if they are correct or not so that your team gets the point for an incorrect answer. I trust your own honisty to police it, as I so for PMs

Swaggs
03-06-2003, 05:49 PM
I had a feeling that the short-lived DH lead would fade once Kodos and Marmel got on at the same time. :)

Swaggs
03-06-2003, 05:51 PM
whose question is it right now, anyway?

Kodos
03-06-2003, 05:55 PM
Actually, I have had little to do with it. :)

However, by the ten minute rule and by the fact my answer is right, we are up 39-20, I believe.

stkelly52
03-06-2003, 05:55 PM

Swaggs had 15 minutes to ask a question after McSweeny validated his answer, it's been 17 :~)

Who is the only coach ever to win 100 games with 4 different schools in Division 1 college basketball?

41-21 dolas I believe

Marmel

No answer to the last question, so I'll ask a new one:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

BTW, the answer to my last question was "American Beauty" - sorry, worked called and I had to go.

Radii
03-06-2003, 08:16 PM
the answer to mine was Lefty Driesell, who won 100 games for each of Davidson, James Madison, Maryland, and Georgia State.

I'm off for the night, grats dolas, barring something amazing of course

It is looking bad for the DH's. It is hard to keep competing in these games while our numbers keep dwindling. We have to be ready for the next round. If it is tomorrow, I'm going to be out of town, but if it is next week, I'll be ready to go!

Go DH's.

Now, to see if my "unpopular" streak can continue.

vex

How is hard to compete in this games? Yes, your numbers may be dwindling, but we've been sitting players out to make it equal, so the numbers don't really matter.

I'm not whining - I'm just trying to rally us out of the hole we are in. It is harder though, because you can self-select who won't be involved, whereas everyone in our group is in even if they are busy. I don't even know who some of the DH's are anymore. I wasn't as active in this game, but we definitely have some total MIA's.

No matter, the core of Tribe Dean Houston will emerge and destroy the infidel Dola tribe. ;)

No, we don't get to self-select who is in and who's not. I would have liked to been in this game.

By the way, another great game design stkelly.

I especially enjoyed the part when Raven and I racked up points against McSweeny and vexroid. Of course, it did stink when I got home from work today and noticed the 20+ point turnaround. :)

Now Dean Houston, it's back to tribal council
