Howdy :)
Im new to the community and i have a couple questions i'd like to ask.
Frist off, i noticed this is a FOF message board but hardly noone talks about FOF :P
I have been interested in buying FOF4 but i'd like to know what you guys think about it. i have the first 2 and i also have TCY.
I've enjoyed all of them but the micro-managment of TCY's recruiting drove me insane.
So if some people who own FOF4 could responed and give me there opinion on the game that'd be great.
Second off, I have see quite a few posts about Hatrick. I would just like to know what it is and what the URL is to the website.
Thanks!!

I haven't purchased FOF4, but most have and you'll get a lot of answers on that too despite the lack of FOF posts ;)

I find the fact that hattrick got 2 replies within 2 minutes, but FOF has yet to get a reply, hilarious :)
Wait until tomorrow though the board is extremely active in the 9-5 EST range when the majority are at work. :)

I still like FOF2 best for pure fun playability. TCY drove me crazy with micromanagement, too.
FOF4, IMO, is worth the money. There are a lot of new features there--some would say too many--but I like most of the features. I think that this board enjoys constructive criticism (that's a good thing), and that may turn some lurkers off to the games.
Remember that when we are bitching about having to find a LOLB when there is a perfectly good RILB in the free agent pool, we are probably just nit picking. Once we find our linebacker, we are ready to sit down and play FOF.
I will say, however, that my mouse on my home computer broke a couple of weeks ago, and I have not gotten around to replacing it. If that had happened when I had just bought FOF2, I would have gone out that night and gotten a mouse. Just a thought.

Use the search feature and look for FOF4, or just start browsing page by page looking for FOF4 topics. They're out there, but you may have to dig a little.
WHat is FOF?
Is'nt this a Hattrick board?? :)
Yeah, I tried explaining this board to someone to day and all I could come up was this: "Oh, it's based off of a game." "What Game?" "A football one, but no one actually talks about the game:)"

Havok,
I have FOF4 and I play it all the time. Most of the bugs were fixed with the last patch. It's worth the money.

Havok, I see you are from Florida. Are you a Miami fan?
You can be a Dolphin fan, just not a Hurricane;)

Sorry, I am both.
Ack.
Hopefully the Sooners and Canes can finally get a NC match this year.

To Dolphinfan1,
Im actually a Redskins fan. I grew up 10 mins from D.C. and i just moved to florida like 8 months ago. The bucs are probally my second fav team now because im a huge Gruden fan(the guy just makes me laugh :) ) and i always enjoyed watching John Lynch hit people. Plus i respect great defenses more then great offense's and Tampa bay's defense is just outstanding.
I do like the Dolphins though and i was quite shocked when they completely fell apart last year. I thought for sure it was gonna be Miami and the Raiders in the AFC champianship game.
Kinda funny you bring it up because just the other day i was talking to my brother about next year's super bowl and who might be in it. And i called an all florida super bowl!!!
Tampa Bay vs Miami :D
I doubt it will happen but who knows.
Im more of a Gator's fan then a Canes fan. But i like them as well. I HATE the seminoles because they have been kicking my favorite collage football teams ass (The Maryland Terps) for 15 years.
I hate all Florida teams, so there.
EDIT: College that is.

Havok,
Buying FOF4 from a CD isn't so bad. If your computer goes all you need to do is reinstall the game and reload your backup Universe files. You do back up don't you? I hope so. I had it happen to me and I was lucky to have a backup. I have found it easier than the download games in they have that licensing thing. This is all my own personal preference.
As for T.B vs. Miami, I could live with that.

yeah,
having it on CD will be nice, but since he only ships on tuesdays and its takes 3 days to get here. i wont be playing until 2 fridays from now
That kinda sucks
Download will be available at some point, but you'll still get it faster if you buy the CD right now. ;)
If you liked the previous versions of FOF, you'll likely going to enjoy FOF4. The question becomes if there are enough improvements that it's worth the purchase for you.
The playcalling interface is probably the biggest improvement IMO. If you have any interest in calling plays, then I'd definitely recommend buying FOF4. Of course, there are other improvements as well so if you don't want to call plays you might still find it a worthy purchase.
There's also a player editor included in the game that lets you create your own teams, etc. but the bad thing about it is you can only do that at the beginning of a new game (you can edit names in game, but not ratings, drafts, etc). One of the members here has made his own editor to allow the editing of draft files from TCY though. There is also a group putting together a historic set of draft files if that interests you. I think they've started in 1970 and have almost every year's draft between then and now.
Hope you enjoy it.

I just want to give another positive view for FOF4, I came too late to get the earlier ones, and didn't want to download, and it is nice to see how the guys form my college team develop in the pros.

I play FOF4 all the time. I love it. There are things that need to be improved, and others that would be a nice feature if he added them, but on the whole its very much worth the money.
