"And the card has made it to the Commissioner."
"The Miami Dolphins trade the first pick in the NFL draft to the Philadelphia Eagles for AJ Feeley and a 5th round pick".
That would be awesome.

Actually, the Dolphins having 1.1 terrifies me. Unless Huzienga sells the team to somebody who is competent.

McNabb didn't play.
I was never one to join the Donovan must go bandwagon, but I can honestly say that if McNabb would've played last night, the Eagles would not have been as close to winning. He is not as accurate as Feeley. A lot of those throws over the middle would've been thrown 100mph either into the ground or over the WR's head.
Would he have thrown that nice INT when they were already in field goal range to tie?

I didn't watch anything but the final five minutes of the Eagles/Patriots game last night. Sadly, I watched most of the fourth quarter and all of overtime from Chicago. The Denver defense makes me sick, particularly Dre Bly. The whole defense is a sham, though. Jay Cutler deserves better than this shit. He made his rookie mistakes last year and hasn't been perfect this year, but he keeps getting better while his defense keeps getting worse.
Then, of course, there's the whole "kicking to Devin Hester" garbage. Seriously, why does anybody in the NFL kick to him ever? He can't score if he doesn't touch the ball.

Has there been any talk of Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson? Anderson looks pretty good so far. How many years are left on his deal?

Ohh ok, so it wasn't by choice. Good answer. ;)
You missed a brutal display of missed tackles by the Bombers that led to a Sask TD. And then you missed the Bombers' QB throwing the game-ending INT when he was a foot away from getting a 1st down himself.

Right. But there is always the possibility of some team swooping in and making one of those "poison pill" offers (see, eg, Steve Hutchinson and Nate Burleson) that would make it impossible for the Browns to match.

Ah ok. Well, he's really looked decent with good offensive weapons. I would think the Browns want to keep him, unless he ends up costing a ton of money. Could be another Brees/Rivers situation.

I think if they want to keep him, they'll exclusive franchise tag him. If they are unsure, then he'll simply get the highest RFA tender. If you do think he's your franchise guy, then you'd be a moron to expose yourself to a poison pill type situation. Then again, it's the Browns.

That's my thinking as well. Unless Anderson completely falls apart, the Browns will be in a tough situation. If Anderson continues to play at a consistent level, I would keep him and try to trade Quinn, but I don't think it will be easy to get value for him.
It will certainly be interesting.

And you think that since Quinn dropped so much in the draft, even after he was projected to go so much higher, the teams that passed on him wouldn't have warmed up. Why would they want a guy that's spent a year on the bench when they didn't want him right after his college career?
I mean, if it only costs a team a 3rd rounder or something, then maybe someone would bite. But then, as you said, that's not getting value for him.

Ok, so what teams could use McNabb, and would pay him a starter's salary. I think Kodos mentioning the Bears is a good choice. Bills, Dolphins? Ravens, Chiefs, Giants, Vikings, Panthers, Falcons?
Watching the Falcons front office the past few years, I bet they would love to have Mcnabb.. and I absolutely think it would be the wrong choice.

Yep, you're right...my mistake. Found this on some kind of blog:
The NFL tried to ban them after that offseason [2006, after Hutchinson, then Burleson], but the ban was never passed. However, no team has tried them since. The strange relationships between agents and teams (specifically general managers) has forced agents to shy away from including them for fear of never being able to get a client to sign with that team then, and GMs avoid the practice because they simply don't want it to happen to them.

It's the lines.. just inexcusable to me to have no lines whatsoever.
Maybe you shouldn't have a bunch of High School games on a frickin' NFL field.

This field is the worst I've seen, and there was some HORRIBLE pats fields before they put the field turf in..
RendeR
11-26-2007, 08:22 PM
Personally I tink the NFl should mandate field turf. There is no real good reason to keep trying to maintain grass fields. This would save those teams still using natural sod MILLIONS each season. And lets not even get into how much better the stuff looks.
stevew
11-26-2007, 08:39 PM
Why the hell do we have a finesse type back, and then a shit field. This steelers team is built for field turf all the way. And all the stupid high school games on the field may be great for the kids, but it's awful for the team I care about. The dolphins are going to win this game, I can feel it.

I think part of the problem is the Steelers and NFL for not working the schedule out so they are on the road this weekend. The dates of these HS games are known well in advance.

No, it'd be a 19 pass lateral.
And the sixth game lost by 3 or less in the same season by the Dolphins. This teams sucks, but with a bit of luck (and better late game decissions by Cam) the Dolphins could be perfectly 3-8 or so.
JonInMiddleGA

Also (unless the record was broken since then) it was the lowest scoring MNF game ever, surpassing last year's 9-0 Jax-Pit game.

Nope. The Pats could have done it with Welker with the poison pill and only lost their 2nd rounder. Instead, they offered a 2nd and a 7th in a trade to the Dolphins to avoid the whole situation. That's a class franchise.

I saw in the Sportsline Power Rankings that the Falcons players do not like their coach. Why is that? They didn't like Mora Jr either, so why can't they just suck it up and play for whomever is coach like most other teams do?
