I still love reading what this man says if for nothing else for its humor:

Not down with OBP: Baker has repeatedly talked about the desire to have a do-it-all leadoff hitter with speed. What kinds of hitters is he looking for further down the lineup? "On-base percentage is great if you can score runs and do something with that on-base percentage," Baker said. "Clogging up the bases isn't that great to me. The problem we have to address more than anything is the home run problem."

"No. 1, I've let most guys hit 3-0 (in the count). That's one reason," Baker said. "I think walks are overrated unless you can run. If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps, but the guy who walks and can't run, most of the time he's clogging up the bases for somebody who can run."

I have this great image of 7 guys all standing on the various bases. You've got, like, three guys on third base, and they just won't move out of the way, so all of your other runners have to stay on first and second.

It could lead to a whole new type of statistic:

PLAY BY PLAY GUY: "Here's Jones, batting .425 with 5 or more runners in scoring position."

COLOR GUY: "Yeah, he's really been unclogging the bases all season. You need guys like that in the middle of your lineup."
