Don't know if there was a thread started for this or not but I will go ahead and start one plus see if anyone had seen the new schedules are out for next year...
1. Can't wait for KC to come to St. Louis for a regular season game.
2. Bengals schedule is pretty rough. Obviously 2 balt and 2 pitt but also indy, new orleans, new england, miami, san diego, and maybe even carolina. Thats 6 or 7 losses there alone. Not pretty... maybe 6-10.
3. Also wanted to say that the Bengals are going to kick the Jets ass this weekend.

I'm excited about the Colts' home sked next year. Lots of good teams coming in.
As for this weekend's playoffs, I could see several road teams pulling off upsets. Should be a good weekend of football.

1. Can't wait for KC to come to St. Louis for a regular season game.
I'll be there just like the last regular season game KC had in STL. I remember the KC fans laughing because the STL offense had to go to a silent count IN THEIR OWN STADIUM due to crowd noise. Also, the "home of the CHIEFS" at the end of the national anthem was very loud.

I just hope everyone keeps writing off the Bengals this weekend. I'd rather be a home underdog. THey play better with a chip on their shoulder.
The Jets saw nothing last week that is normal in the Bengals. Defense will be almost full strength and the offense, I hope, won't drop the first 9 passes thrown their way.

I believe someone mentioned in another thread that Cincinnati opened up as a 1 point favorite and the line has been moving in their favor since then. They are currently a 2 1/2 point favorite. Don't think they are being written off at all!

Generally speaking though, shouldn't a game between two evenly matched teams open up with the home team as a 3 point favorite? That was always my understanding, but perhaps that has changed.

Add to that every pundit with a microphone is taking the Jets right now. Might change by Saturday, things usually do.
I just want the Jets all pumped up and overconfident from listening to their own hype and watching worthless film from a game we never intended to really game plan for last week. As one commentator said "if the Jets don't burn this game film before they even open it they're gonna be very sorry"

have to like my Cards not having a single road game in the Northeast next season, and depending on when they play their road games, maybe no real cold weather games at all.

And I'm hoping for a return to the Cards play in last year's playoffs unlike this season's Jekyll and Hyde play. Gonna be tough with maybe Boldin, Rogers-Cromartie, and Calais Campbell out for this game.

I think a lot of people talk about the East coast bias and it becomes an overused term. But as far as this matchup goes I think that is what you are seeing. All of these sportcasters and talking heads grew up on the Jets and are unable to see that a rookie QB on the road is going to be a disaster. (Sorry guys but last season Flacco and Ryan had shown some things prior to the playoffs, Sanchez looks really raw)

Yeah, sure, but it seems a little disingenuous to try to play the "everyone is writing us off" card when you're a favorite at home as a 10-6 division winner against a 9-7 wild card team who needed two teams to not try against them to even get in the playoffs, doesn't it?
"Hi, we're Cincinnati, we have a better record, are playing at home, not only have we been favored by vegas to win since the line opened, but more money is going on Cincinnati's side and its not even close(for the line to have moved nearly 1 1/2 points), but NO ONE BELIEVES IN US. WE'RE GONNA SHOCK THE WORLD."
:D I dunno, its no big thing, the Colts and Chargers and Vikings and Saints fans are all trying to find ways to be the underdog too, its just amusing to me.

That's true, but there's still the fact that, even if it's just the backups, there's players on the Bengals who are thinking about how they just got beat down by this team last week, and that will matter to them more than who's favored and by how much.

And on the other hand there are players who didn't play, and others who didn't play hard, who want to prove that when they are in the lineup at 100% they make a 37 point difference. Would rather have Benson, Palmer, Peko, Ochocinco fired up about how they will make the difference than worrying whether or not JT O'Sullivan, Brandon Johnson, and Morgan Trent are disappointed in their efforts.

Dola: Why do the Eagles, Cardinals, and Patroits seem to get the pass on last week's eggs but Cinci won't be able to overcome it? Any Bengal fan will tell you that team stopped trying by the second Jet's score and with Benson and others being held out it is obvious they weren't going 100% from the get go.

The Eagles shouldn't get a pass, they looked like total shit in a game that if they won, they would not be playing this week.

I guess the Cardinals are the perfect example. Maybe Palmer should haven't have even played but it was pretty obvious that the players weren't going all out trying to catch balls and make plays once the game started to get out of control. Is this acceptable if it isn't what Lewis sorta wanted? No. But from all accounts I have read this was kind of the mentality going in.
If I am playing my 9 year old niece in checkers sometimes I put in a different effort than if I am playing a game of chess against somebody that I really want to beat. Their heart just wasn't there and all credit to Jets because theirs was.

That +2.5 line isnt a great sign for the Bengals though.
It pretty much means they are asking for Bengals action by setting the home team as less than 3 point favs. If the Line had been Bengals -3.5 it means they were looking for Jets action by setting a tight matchup by more than a FG.
What it all means? Probably not a whole lot other than Vegas seems to get richer every year while the bettors have lost money again. Happens every year:)

Oh yes, coupled with the number one rushing offense, I would definitely pick the Jets. I think last week was nothing to really base much on for the Bengals as they sat a lot of people, etc. However, looking at the previous 15 games of the season, they are barely averaging 19 points a game while the Jets are giving up just under 15 points a game.
Now the Bengals do have the number 4 defense, but, they are giving up 18 points a game while the Jets are scoring almost 22 points a game. This is another area that falls into the Jets favor.
The Bengals have a chance, but, they have to keep the Jets from running tha ball and that means they need to win the time of possession battle.

From your sig I will assume your team is the Chargers. Your analysis doesn't bode well for your team who barely held off this crappy Bengal team at home a few weeks ago. I am pretty sure the Bengals have more than "a chance".

Definitely a Chargers fan for sure. Didn't say the Bengals were crappy and they did almost beat the Chargers. However, as a long time Charger fan and especially a big Norv Turner non-supporter, the Chargers have a very bad tendency to play down to their opponent. Saw it in the Dallas game, Cleveland, Bengals and both Raider games. So yes, I am worried that the Charger will have another one and done Post Season after having a first round bye.

I could have sworn their star sat out along with several defensive forces and that JT O'SUllivan took more than half the snaps. Makes no sense really to debate this until Saturday anyways but that was hardly an effort they put out there on Sunday night. I guess New England really tried against Houston because Brady was in there?

Yes, I would prefer the Chargers play the Jets over the Bengals. The Chargers don't have much of a run game, but, are dangerous enough on the ground that their recievers can make big plays. It's unfortunate that the Chargers' offensive line sucked ass this year with their run blocking, made it look like LT and Sproles couldn't run. Well, they couldn't because they were having to avoid defenders that were already 2 yards beyond the line of scrimage by the time they got the ball.
I have a feeling it will be 2006 all over again and the Chargers will end up playing the Patriots in the Divisional round and the Chargers find unique ways to choke when they play the Patriots. It will be some stupid weird play that will allow the Patriots to win. Something like Rivers throws the ball to Jackson, but, it hits Jackson on the back of the shoulder, then it hits LT on the front of his foot while he's taking a step that launches the ball into the air and the Patriots intercept it and run it back for a touch down to win the game.
Trust me, being a life long Chargers fan, I won't say the Chargers are going to the Super Bowl until no time is on the clock and they have at least one more point than whoever it is they play, if they make it to the Conference Championship round.

Palmer was not pulled until the game was out of reach - in the second half. If O'Sullivan took more than half the snaps, it was due to their inability to get When teams are trying to keep guys from being injured, doesn't it start with the QB? They played the first half trying to win that game, and got their asses handed to them.
And go ahead and fool yourself into thinking that Peko and Geathers are 'forces'. Sadly for Cinicinatti, the players that were key to their defense being a force early are on IR - Odom led them in sacks playing 6 games?

Theisman has no idea who threw that touchdown pass... just embarrassing. Nice TD for the Jets.
I can understand them throwing Theismann in there as (despite being an idiot) he has broadcasting experience seeing as he used to regularly do the Sunday night game. What i DONT understand is #1 - who thought Joe Gibbs would be a logical 3rd person in the booth and #2 - who the hell agreed and ok'd the decision....
There are a total of 4 games this weekend, with the majority of the NFL season over and the college season completed.... and you couldnt find a better 3rd person who has, you know, actually announced a football game for a freeking NFL PLAYOFF GAME?!?!
I thought this game would be fairly boring anyway with the strong running game/defense mentality of both teams, but ugh...... these guys are not helping

I guess I should have clarified - Most Philly fans are pretty classless. Especially the ones who go to the games. I'll be the first person to agree with you on that.
What I was referring to was not that the crowd was chanting the song, that's well within their right as a fan. But to have the music blaring through the PA system is pretty bad. Fans of a lot of teams are idiots, we all know that - but to come from an organization (they're the one hitting the play button on the song), is pretty bad.
All in all, not a HUGE deal (I agree the batteries, cheering injured players, etc is much worse). Just thought it was strange that the taunting was coming from official stadium personnel.

Funny, because as a Packer fan I did NOT want the Packers going to Minnesota for a playoff game unless it is the NFC Championship game (of course if they both make it that far). I would just prefer to skip over Packers vs. Favre for a third time this year, I am tired of it. The end of the season was very enjoyable with the two games behind us and over with. Of course I am in big Cowboys country and them winning makes the so-called fans down here very annoying, so I have already decided I will actually cheer on the Vikings next weekend because the fair-weather Cowboy fans need to be sent into hiding again.

I think the Santa Claus incident probably clinched it more than anything. It doesn't matter about the background to the actual event, it's the picture that people make in their minds from what they hear on the TV or radio. In this case, "Who in their right mind would boo Santa Claus?" Sprinkle in some reinforcing events, like the cheering of Irvin's injury, and Philly's reputation is cemented. Once that reputation started to harden about Philly's fans, some of them probably wore it as a badge of honor ("You think your team and fans are tough? Well, we booed Santa Claus!")
After all, there were incidents over the years such as snowballs and iceballs pelting the sidelines in both Cincinnati ("You don't live in Cleveland" anyone?) and the Meadowlands and that never really stuck to those fanbases. As things currently stand, it's increasingly difficult for fanbases to even approach Philadelphia's, er, "stature" because as sports money has exploded, so too has the cost of watching them, pricing out most of the fans who would typically be the source of harsh behavior, replaced by well-heeled wine-and-cheesers. I think it's even happening in Philly to some extent as their teams have all now switched to new venues in the last several years. I don't think Lincoln Financial Field has anywhere near the brutal reputation that the Vet had, for example.

Giants fans threw beer bottles at DeSean Jackson after Jackson scored a touchdown earlier this year. But that didn't get widely discussed, did it?
Philly sports fans have a poor image because people continue to perpetuate the stereotype and apply it to everyone. It doesn't apply to everyone. It never applied to everyone. But it became a media thing for a little while, and they continue to heap it on, even if it doesn't apply to 98% of the fanbase.
It's always the 2% that gives the rest of us the bad rap. People don't want to talk about people who are doing nothing.
There's a reason why I choose not to discuss sports with nearly anyone. It's because, since I'm a Philly fan, I'm an asshole. Sorry, but I'm not. Never have been, never will be. But I'm guilty of things a few other idiots did, and I don't get a chance to prove my innocence, thanks to things like the recent posts in this thread.

No, it becomes, "Philly booed Santa". Santa wasn't being a good role model for children that day, because Santa was pretty drunk.

Comey, I have no doubt you, Sak and Philliefan are great fans and great guys. I grew up less than an hour outside Philly and know many Philly fans who are great people and great fans. I get that it is a small percentage, but when people use the argument that other teams have an equal number of fans that behave equally as bad I don't buy it.
Maybe it is because of whre I grew up and maybe it is some personal experiences, but IMO there is a reason people have the perception they do.
I sincerely apologize if you or anyone else interpreted my comments as a personal attack, that wasn't my intention.

I've been to about half a dozen football stadiums for NFL games and can tell you that Veterans Stadium in Philly was the worst experience I've ever had at one. We weren't there to root for a particular team but I would have been scared to have been a Redskins fan at that game. There was a young couple sitting like 10 rows ahead in Redskins attire who literally had every insult thrown their way including beer, peanuts, etc. One guy kept yelling about how they were going to all rape his girl at halftime. This was literally a few rows from an usher who heard everything and didn't do anything.
Heard the N word thrown around like nothing (especially toward McNabb and one of the officials). Almost all the guys were extremely drunk and just lobbed obscenities everywhere. One guy two rows packed passed out and then proceeded to puke all over himself and the person in front of him. Instead of disgust, it was met by laughter. Any girl who walked across the front of the section had multiple guys yelling at them to "show us your tits". This included girls who were probably 13-14 years old with their parents.
Now I've been to a lot of sporting events and seen some shitty fans. Mostly just drunks who yell a lot or maybe try picking a fight. Usually the other fans in the section tell them to knock it off or an usher gets called in to escort them out. But I've never seen anything remotely close to that game in Philly. I guess for me the biggest difference in them and other cities is that they literally don't police their fans in anyway and you can do whatever you want. Like I said, it was only one game but I have never had an experience like that in the hundreds of events I've been to.

When the Eagles played at Veterans stadium, it was very unlike any other Philly crowd for some reason. My grandfather would take me to Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers games when I was 4 or 5, but I couldn't go to an Eagles game in person until I was 12, because my grandfather knew that the Eagles and the Vet for some reason attempted to bring out the worst of the Philly sports fans. Tons of great fans in Philly and we all get stigmatized by the bad ones, but there are some bad fans everywhere.

Yeah, I totally disagree with that, 16 point lead is so so much better than 13. Sure you'd prefer the TD but getting 3 points and forcing the pats to not only score twice without giving up any more points but also get two 2 point conversions... huge difference.

What an odd game. I've never seen the Patriots look so bad on both sides of the ball. It was obvious the Ravens could only run, yet the Patriots couldn't slow them down much. Offensively they never could get on track, though you have to imagine that if Welker was there the Patriots kill the pressure with quick passes to him.
Still, I was expecting the Pats to pull it together. Ravens got lucky by being so conservative after getting the lead. They can't expect to go up 24-0 again next week.

Oh, I agree, but I've missed big chunks of the game (daughter sick) and that was just the one big thing that surprised me given this coaching staff. Moss running about 60%, RBs missing blitz pickup, Brady not seeing DBs, there's plenty of blame to go around, that was just the biggie that surprised me. Merriweather doesn't usually get faked out of his shorts like Rice did to him on that big TD run.
